Chapter fourteen

~Phil's POV~

The next morning I find myself once again knocking on Owen's front door.

But this time I come seeking information instead of giving it.

The door opens and I am greeted by Sean's happy smile.

"Phil! Good morning!" he greets happily.

Observing my young pupil I am glad to see that he looks well rested and healthy.

This new situation his family is in has allowed him to take the time to rest that he has needed.

"Good morning, Sean. How is it going?" I asked him as he allowed me to come inside.

"Good, good. Did you come for any particular reason or are you just visiting?" he asked me, his intelligent eyes studying me closely.

I smiled at him, "I needed to speak with Miss Sang again."

He nodded and led the way to the library, where I found the little girl sitting in an armchair with a thick book in her lap, her fascinated gaze locked on the pages.

"Miss Sang?" I called quietly, not wanting to startle her.

Her head flew up and her gaze locked on mine, a little dazed. No doubt half of her attention was still in the story she'd been reading.

"Dr. Roberts," she blinked slowly at me before her gaze seemed to sharpen. "Please, come in."

I smiled at her and sat at the couch where she indicated. "How are you, young lady?"

She raised an eyebrow and smirked at the word "young" but made no comment, instead answering my question. "I am fine, Doctor. How are you?"

"Well, except for the fact the Academy and I have been lied to for a very long time I'd say that I am perfectly okay." I told her.

"Hummm." She hummed, "You mean about the Senate?" she asked.

I nodded at her. "What do you know about them and their leader?"

Her eyebrows rose and her eyes glinted with a reddish glow, "At the moment I don't know a thing, but I plan to change that very soon."

Her voice had come out light and calm, but my instincts told me that she was anything but.

My wolf tried to find out how she was feeling my scent, but all that I could smell was the perfume of orange blossoms, heavy in the air.

I nodded, "If you don't mind, I'd like to be informed of anything that you might find. It would be really useful for the academy to have this kind of information."

She smiled at me, "Of course, doctor. I will help any way I can." Her gaze took on a light blue shine and turned mischievous.

It made me wonder what the little vampiress was plotting.

"And those unruly dogs? Are they behaving properly?" I asked her.

She blinked at me, "Dogs?"

This time I was the one to raise my eyebrows, "Didn't they tell you? "Dog" is what the academy calls a member that is male."

I'd had been watching her curiously and that is why I caught the little eye twitch that betrayed her sudden annoyance.

"Dog? Wow, how very... er, creative." She said in tight tone of voice.

My lip twitched, trying to form a smile as I remembered that her nature was half feline.

"Oh yes. And do you know what they call the females?" I asked her cheerfully.

She looked at me warily, "What?"

"Birds!" I told her with a happy smile.

Her expression turned into a rather interesting mixture of horror, outrage and disgust.

"Bird?" she asked faintly.

I nodded, smile firmly in place.

"Dr. Roberts." Owen's voice reached me from the library's door and I turned my head to look at him.

"Phil." I told him firmly.

He cleared his throat, "Of course, Phil."

I nodded at him, "Hello, Owen."

He cringed a little at my use of his first name, "I have some questions about the mission that Victor will be working on, and maybe you could be accompanying me to my office?"

"Of course." I told him readily, standing from the couch.

I offered Miss Sang a smile and said my goodbyes before following after Owen.

The little vampires looked more than a little annoyed, but she smiled back at me and left the library after us, heading to the back yard.

~Sang's POV~

A bird! And dogs! We are surrounded by dogs! Her cat roared inside her head.

Its just a cognation.

Prey! They are comparing me with prey! Her cat hissed.

Good God, save me from moody felines. She thought briefly.

A sudden, fresh breeze blew by her hair, almost caressingly.

Sang lifted her face to the sun and closed her eyes, enjoying the clean air that smelled of pine, moss and berries.

Moss and berries?

The breeze changed direction and caressed a path down from her face to her collar bone, tickling slightly.

Suddenly the air changed directions, sharpened and sped up, forming sounds that began to join and form a song.

Sang's eyes flew up and she watched transfixed as the leaves in the trees swayed rhythmically, as did the grass under her feet, the wind making its own sounds as it blew overhead.

Then the wind slowed and came back for a last caress of her cheek before dropping back to its natural state.

"Oh my God." She murmured.

"Is that a good "Oh my God" or a bad one?" Victor asked from behind her, his voice sounding amused.

Sang spun around to face him, eyes wide, mouth slightly ajar.

Swallowing thickly she answered, "Definitely a good one."

"Good," he said, stepping close to her and lifting a hand to caress her cheek, just like his wind had done before.

She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath of moss and berries.

Mine. Her cat purred in her mind, once more calm and happy.

Yes. Sang agreed. Ours.

"Mr. Blackbourne asked me to tell you that some of us will be going out today to solve a few things." He said quietly and she shuddered as his voice seemed to wrap around her, keeping her eyes closed while she enjoyed his attention.

Their bond was beginning to form and she could feel how so completely focused he was on her.

It was heady and made her heart beat faster and wish for things that she'd never wished for before.

"What things?" she asked, opening her eyes to look at him.

"Mostly Academy things." He answered in an intimate murmur, "But Kota also wants to go and check on his family and Nate needs a few more things from his house."

"Who will be staying?" she felt suddenly apprehensive at their going out without her, but rationalized that it should be okay since Marie wasn't on the city.

"North, Silas, Gabriel and Luke will stay with you. The rest of us will be taking the two BMWs." He assured her, his tone comforting as his eyes blazed down at her.

The feel of his body so close to hers, warm and comforting, made her wish to step closer to him, but she refrained. She knew what she would do if she hugged him. She'd take his blood, straight from his neck.

The thought made her blush.

He smiled, "Soon." he whispered and she shivered in delight.

"Soon." She agreed with a shy smile.

~Silas' POV~

I was sitting at the living room couch watching Luke and Gabriel play video-games when the dog came in and threw himself at my feet, letting out a big and tired sounding sigh as he collapsed, dark fur spreading everywhere.

"God damn, I really need to give that dog a trim." Gabriel grumbled from where he sat, eyes now fixed on the Cerberus.

The dog growled in warning without raising his head from where it was lying over my feet.

"What we need to do is give him a name!" Luke exclaimed.

An annoyed huff left the dog's muzzle and I smirked.

"Stop annoying that damn creature before it decides to eat the two of you for breakfast." North grunted when he came into the room, a plate of fruits and sandwiches in one hand and a jar of juice in the other.

"Luke, go and grab the cups." He ordered while he left the food on the coffee table.

Luke shot up from the floor where he'd been sitting and bowed at North "As you wish, Princess."

North growled at him while Gabriel and I snickered.

"This is not the Princess Bride, fucker." North growled.

"No, this is the Twilight." Gabriel answered.

"God, no." North said, shuddering. "If I start to glow in the sunlight, please, kill me."

We began laughing and I noticed that even the Cerberus seemed to have an amused light in his eyes.

The creature was smart enough to understand everything that we said. I hoped he didn't turn out to be dangerous to us.

As sensing my continued stare the dog raised his head and looked up at me, his dark eyes making me think of North.

Like my brother, the dog seemed to have a temper and was black as night.

But his eyes didn't show any malice.

The dog stood from the floor and trotted over to the coffee table, stealing a bite of orange before North could stop him.

Yup, he was just like North; Loves his fruit. I felt myself relaxing at that thought.

Luke came back and we sat down to watch a film.

"Are we going to do anything this afternoon while the others are away?" Luke asked.

"No." North grunted.

"We could take Aggele to the beach." I suggested.

Not that I wanted to see her in a bikini. Of course not.

The others glanced over at me and I was glad to see agreement in their eyes.

I smiled and they smiled back at me.

Oh yes. We were all going to see Aggele in a bikini.

Ahem... I mean... she would love the beach!

AN: Gah! This was way too short, but that is what I can manage in little more than a day ;)

The chapter fifteen will be coming next Wednesday, and we will be getting some action *wiggles eyebrows*.

But it will be of the bloody sort, sorry ;) LOL
