Chapter fifteen
~Sang's POV~
As soon as the others had left Gabriel and, surprisingly, North got everyone to grab the necessary things for us to go to the beach.
Gabriel had given me a strange set of undergarments made of an elastic material and ordered me to wear it under a yellow dress that was made of a very light fabric.
I blushed at his command but did as he asked.
Once we were all on North's Jeep we took off to the beach.
During the whole trip the boys kept me distracted telling me about their favorite songs and singing along to the ones playing on the radio.
When we arrived at the beach and parked the car I got out with Silas' help, his big hand holding mine firmly while I struggled to get out of North's big Jeep without falling ungracefully to the floor.
Once I was on firm ground again I lifted my head and stared around for the first time.
We had parked facing the beach and I got to see not only the blue sky, waving sea and clear sand but also all the people on the beach that day.
Practically naked people...
They wore barely anything!
"Oh my God!" I felt the blood rushing from my face, leaving me pale and light headed as I considered what it could mean.
The boys expected me to take off my dress.
I gulped, my brain becoming sluggish as I panicked, my mind struggling between trusting the boys and the sense of propriety that had been instilled in me since my birth.
I didn't want all these people seeing me!
"Aggele mou? Could you please help me with the sunscreen?" Silas deep voice drew my attention like nothing else could and I turned my eyes to stare at him.
And the breath left my lungs.
Silas had taken off his t-shirt and stood before me in his swimming trunks, muscles rippling with his movements as he put the sunscreen on his chest and front.
I could only stare, my mouth watering as he ran that big hand of his all over his own chest and shoulders before dipping down to his stomach and belly button.
My gaze rose to his face and I was arrested by the look in his eyes.
My brain had fried and I didn't know if it was from the sun or the heat in his gaze.
I gulped.
Is that sunscreen edible? My cat purred the question in my head and I felt myself blushing furiously at the image that created.
My embarrassment brought me out of my Silas-daze and I realized there were two snickering clowns behind me.
The sound of a couple of hard slaps and grumbling caused the laugher to cease and I focused my attention back at Silas, nodding my head at him.
He smiled and offered the bottle of sunscreen to me before turning around and presenting the most delicious sight I'd ever seen.
Gulping down my nervousness and ignoring my cat's suggestions I began to spread the cream over his smooth skin, feeling hardness of his muscles that sometimes rippled and shivered at my light touch.
Once I was done I took a step back, needing to put some space between me and Silas.
"Help me too, Sang baby." North asked in a husky tone of voice.
I turned to him and saw that they were all on their swim trunks now.
Swallowing deeply I stepped in their direction.
The next ten minutes were spent in delicious torture, helping the boys put on sunscreen, watching they run their hands over their own bodies slowly and finally having Gabriel help me put it on.
I didn't even think twice about removing the dress when he told me to, a smirk on his face as he squished the sunscreen on the palm of his hand.
When he began to massage my back and shoulders with the cream I almost purred.
I never had been touched that way before and his calloused hands against my skin felt divine.
I didn't want him to stop but my control was hanging by a thread and for some strange reason, all these feelings they were invoking on me also seemed to raise my hunger for blood to a fever pitch.
"All done, Trouble." Gabriel whispered in my ear and as soon as I heard those words I bolted, running straight for the water, which I hopped was cold.
I heard a couple of chuckles behind me before the sound of people running on the sand reached my ears and I knew they had given chase.
Walking straight into the water I dived under the first wave, letting it crash behind me.
As one who could control the elements, I didn't fear the sea for I knew I wouldn't drown in it.
Through the rumble in my ears I heard the splashes before me right before arms circled my waist and I was pulled from underwater.
Breaking the surface I blinked the salty water out of my eyes and stared into brown, mischievous ones.
"Enjoying yourself, Cupcake?" Luke asked me.
I just smiled up at him and nodded my head.
After that we spent a good few hours playing around in the beach, swimming, making sand castles and running around.
I had never had so much fun and been so free before.
It suddenly occurred to me that I was acting like a young lady for the first time in my life.
I had been raised in a very strict society where kids couldn't just act like kids, and being who I was, a predator from the night, I had never had the opportunity to just enjoy life.
Now I was free and playing in the sun.
There was no death here, no enemies to fight against, no family to avoid.
Once we had left the water and gone back to the sand I had begun to feel self-conscious again, but the boys did a good job of keeping me distracted with their touches against my skin and their smiles full of warmth.
"Cupcake! When we get back home we are going to make brownies!" Luke whisper-shouted at me.
"Like hell you are!" North exclaimed from where he stood still in the water, Silas laughing beside him.
"Ignore him, Trouble. Today is our day off and we get to do whatever the fuck we want." Gabriel told me.
Luke nodded happily and I smiled at the boys around me, feeling more content beside them than I had in a long time.
~Victor's POV~
"You need to do this concert Victor! And you fucking will!" His father shouted at him.
"Father, I can't. I will be busy with Academy things that day..." Victor tried to explain to his parents, his patience about to snap.
"Academy! All you do these days is waste your time in that damned Academy when you should be training your abilities in the piano!" his father went on with his shouting, making Victor flinch at the loudness.
He hated shouting.
Even North's shouting bothered him sometimes, thought he was getting used to his friend.
But his father? He was never going to get used to him.
"George, maybe you should try to calm down a little bit." His mother suggested from where she was sitting regally in one of the living room's armchairs.
Her tone of voice was bored and robotic, showing clearly that she didn't really care about what her husband did as long as he kept the appearances when they had guests over.
"He should be going to the public school, to become a real man instead of that prissy private school you choose for him!" His father repeated the same complaint he'd been saying for years now.
The Academy is for prissy boys.
The Academy takes too much of Victor's time.
Victor isn't making enough money because he is in the Academy.
"Think about the prestige and connections that he is making." She spoke without feeling.
Tired of hearing the same discussion once more Victor pulled his phone out of his pocket.
His father's eyes narrowed on him "What do you think you are doing? I am not done with you."
"You might not be, but I am." Victor told him firmly before red-lining Mr. B's number.
His brother should have been watching him on the cameras would've been on his way the moment that Victor had pulled his cellphone from his pocket, but he still pressed the red button to make sure that Mr. Blackbourne knew he needed to get out.
A knock at the door stopped his father from going into another tirade.
Mr. Blackbourne pushed the door open and nodded politely at Victor's parents before focusing his silvery gaze on his brother.
Victor smiled weakly at him when he asked, "Are you ready to go, Mr. Morgan?"
"More than ready, Mr. Blackbourne." Victor answered, his voice sounding tired.
Mr. Blackbourne returned his grey-colored eyes to Victor's father and the older man flinched at the glare in them.
George tried to pull his shoulders back and raise his chin proudly against the nineteen year old, but he could feel himself losing confidence before the stoic and powerful Blackbourne heir.
The boy was young but already had an amazing influence in the business world that had only grown after his father's death.
"Mr. Blackbourne, wouldn't you stay for tea?" Jasmine asked politely and George barely refrained from scowling at his wife.
He didn't want to make small talk with the young billionaire.
"No, thank you, Mrs. Morgan, but Victor and I have other commitments to attend today." He answered the couple politely enough, thought his grey eyes never left Victor's father, the look in the glacial.
George had started sweating when his son finally deigned to rise from the couch and move toward the door, waving goodbye to his family and taking his terrifying friend with him.
George let out a sigh of relief and turned back to his wife, "We still need him to play next week, Jasmine." He told her resolutely.
"And he will, my dear. Be patient with the boy." She answered just as unfeelingly as before.
~Sang's POV~
As soon as the boys and I arrived at the house I began to feel the first stirrings of panic.
Pausing just inside the door I concentrated on the emotion and found it was coming from Kota.
Frowning I gave up consideration and delved deep inside his mind, thought with some difficulty.
I hadn't exchanged blood with Kota which meant our bond wasn't as strong as with the others, but since he'd been using my magic I had grown able to sense his thoughts and emotions as well.
Studying Kota's thoughts I could tell that he, Sean and Dr. Roberts had gone out together and were now in trouble, being cornered by a familiar vampire.
"Boys, I need to go out and meet the others. There is something wrong." I told the boys who were with me, distracted by being inside Kota's head.
"If you think you are going alone you better think again, baby!" North growled at me and I focused back on him.
"I don't have the time to argue with you, North." I told him.
My cat was scratching and roaring inside my head, wanting to shed blood in our mates' behalf.
"Good! Then don't argue!" he shouted and Luke tried to calm him down.
But it wasn't North they should be worrying about.
My fury was such that the sky had darkened with dark clouds and thunder rolled in the distance, but if you expected such a thing to scare North Taylor you would be left disappointed.
He stalked over to me until we were standing toe to toe. "Cut out the light-show. If you think it's going to make me back off, you are mistaken. You. Are. Not. Going. Out. There. Alone." He growled through clenched teeth.
The fact he was so worried about was sweet. Really, I appreciated the feeling. But there was no way I was taking a human, and my mate at that, to a fight between vampires.
"I am not taking you with me, North." I told him, growling in frustration.
Out in the distance a bolt struck the earth, it's strength rocking the ground under our feet.
"Hummm, North, brother, maybe you should back off a little. She looks ready to eat you for dinner." Mumbled Silas with uneasiness.
North just grunted, "She is not going to hurt me." he said sounding very sure of himself and I wished I could say he was wrong, but he wasn't.
I was going to protect him, however, whether he liked it or not.
I pulled my powers to me, the air becoming thick around us, and North's eyes widened suddenly, doubt darkening the already dark orbs.
The temperature around us fell drastically and soon ice was forming around us. I pushed North away from me and with a though a bubble of thick ice formed around him, encasing him inside.
The bubble wouldn't last long in this heat, but it would do its job of keeping him in place until I was far enough he couldn't follow. I had also made sure it had little holes on its whole surface so that air could go in, and his shouts come out... obviously.
His eyes were wide in fury; his face red as he shouted at me from inside his protective bubble and I had no doubt there would be hell to pay once I came back. I smirked at him, feigning a confidence I didn't really feel before turning around and leaving through the back door.
~Sean's POV~
Phil, Kota and I were happily walking down the street to a coffee shop that was close to the hospital where we could talk quietly and without being interrupted when my mentor began to growl warningly.
Yes, growl.
Kota and I immediately recognized the sound and stood at attention, ready for what was coming.
Except there was no way one could prepare himself to have his will taken from him so completely.
One minute I was myself, scanning the crowds for a sign of danger, confident we could handle whatever it was that was spooking Phil and the next, I met a pair of watery eyes in a round face with a mustache.
My body began to move on its own, walking toward the man without thought and I could only imagine that my brother and Phil had also fallen under the same spell as they didn't protest.
We walked through alleys and streets that were getting more and more deserted.
It took maybe half an hour and by the time we had stopped I could hear how labored Kota's breaths were coming, signaling a panic attack.
If I was sincere I wanted to panic as well, but knowing that my brother might need me kept me centered.
The man who had been walking just ahead of us stopped and turned around, fixing us with a red eyed glare, "Now, you are going to tell me everything that you know about the little vampiress that came into my town." He growled.
I felt the urge to follow his order like we had followed him until that moment, but I fought it.
Judging by the silence of the others I could only guess they were fighting him as well.
The man growled and stalked towards us, his mouth opening in a snarl that revealed a pair of sharp fangs.
When he was only a few feet in front of me and I had begun to tremble in terror a dark panther jumped on top of the man, knocking him to the ground.
The huge feline let out a bone-chilling roar and began to claw at the man's front.
The vampire gave a mighty shout and threw the feline off of him, causing the panther to fly and hit against the walls of a building.
Then vampire stood up in a flash and prepared to jump the panther that had yet to stand from the floor when a white, huge wolf flew at him, growling ferociously.
A whip of water then appeared and latched onto the vampire's legs, causing him to trip and fall to the ground.
Twisting around I could see that the water had come from Kota who stood a little behind me, face pale, but eyes determined.
Turning back around to see what was going on I saw the panther rise from floor and shake itself, as if waking up before it stalked in the vampire's direction.
The vampire managed to free himself from the wolf, who I had finally understood was Phil, and threw him away from him.
My mentor flew through the air and hit a building with a resounding crack.
Acting on instinct I ran to him, hoping he hadn't broken his neck or spine.
The sounds of a fight continued behind me but I focused at the problem at hand, checking to see if Phil had any broken bones.
I could tell his front paw was twisted in a wrong angle, but there was not much else I could see wrong with him, and being only a doctor I didn't dare move him.
God, damn it! It seemed that I would need to learn about veterinary as well.
The sound of thunder falling right behind me made me jump startled and turn around to face the nightmarish scene that was unfolding.
Kota was still standing where he had been before, a whip of water in his left hand.
The panther stood panting, what seemed to be blood dripping from a open wound on its flank.
And the vampire, well, I supposed that bit of charred flesh in the ground was our vampire.
The fact it turned to ashes a few minutes later seemed to confirm my suspicions.
Kota's cellphone choose that moment to begin ringing and I only watched, as if detached from all that was going on as the panther took a stumbling step in Kota's direction.
I wondered briefly if our rescuer was going to eat my brother.
The fact I wasn't panicking at the thought proved that I was in shock and I began to rifle through my memory for what to do in this situation.
When the feline was about a few feet from Kota a bright pink light enveloped it and a little Miss Sang appeared on its place, naked and bloodied.
It was the sight of her, both naked and bloodied, that made me finally snap out of it and I ran in her direction.
"Sang!" I shouted before reaching her, my eyes skimming over her figure and cataloging every cut and scratch that needed to be healed.
She had a huge cut that went from under her left breast to her right hip bone and it was steadily losing blood.
She looked up at me, face flushed, green eyes a little dazed before murmuring, "I need clothes, Sean."
I made her sit on the ground so I could begin treating her while Kota called for help, "You need a lot of things, Pookie and clothes aren't the most important of them." I tried to reason with her as I tore off my shirt's sleeve and pressed it against the big cut, hopping to stop the bleeding.
"I am naked." She said as a weak protest.
"You are bleeding." I told her, "Shame on you, missy."
"Sang, do as Dr. Green requests, please." Kota commanded from behind me and I could tell he was in his cellphone still.
She stopped arguing with me and let me do my thing while the street filled with Academy personnel.
"Sean," I turned my face and met with the gaze of my mentor.
"Good to see you are well, old man." I told him with a truly relieved smile.
Note to self, learn about wolves and panthers and how to heal them.
Phil nodded at me with a smile and removed his coat, offering it to Sang who took it quickly and covered herself.
"You need blood, little Miss." Phil told Sang quietly and she nodded.
"Let's get out of here first. Then I will feed." She said.
We nodded at her, Kota coming up from behind me, "We have a ride to the hospital, the others are going to meet with us there."
Sang nodded, "Good. Did you know what McCoy wanted with you?" she asked.
"Who?" Phil questioned her.
She frowned at him "The vampire who attacked you was called McCoy and he was a Senator."
Kota and I exchanged looks, trying to see if the other knew what she meant by "Senator" before he turned to her and said, "He wanted information about you."
She lifted an eyebrow, "Incompetent idiot..." she mumbled under her breath.
"What was that?" Kota questioned.
She shook her head "Nothing important. Come on, let's go."
We turned and followed her and Kota as they walked to a car.
All the way to the hospital I wondered about the mysterious Senator and what he wanted with our Pookie.
AN: First I would like to ask for a round of applause for my dear sister who lent me her laptop so that I can use until I get a new one.
And next, but no less important, a huge thank you for all of you who always vote and comment in this story. ;)
