Chapter 7
Well, my readers, this chapter may be a bit shorter than usual, but I hope you like it just the same. You may not like some of the things I'm planning, though. In the media is a picture I drew, It's supposed to be Percy and luke at camp , but since I'm not the best drawer it's not that great. For starters Luke looks fat and Percy is really skinny.
Percy's point of view
This is it, Today is the day that the primordials plan on releasing Typhon. Although we all try to hide it I'm sure we're all nervous, I'm guessing Piper, Amber and I are the most nervous, though, after all, the other gods had faced him before, but the only times I had seen him were in dreams and iris messages during the second titan war and even seeing him that way had freaked me out at the time. Now I'll actually be facing him. We all suspect that the extra shields that we had put on his prison wouldn't hold forever, even with Thalessa's help.
Even though we had been preparing for this for a while now, we couldn't help but be worried, we could only hope that we could defeat Typhon quickly enough that we would be able to help our children with the primordials and their forces. Eventually, I sensed that Typhon had indeed escaped, and we would have to face him. we all assembled in the throne room before heading to face our latest enemy.
Despite the fear that went through all of us we headed to where Typhon had come ashore. If we could somehow force him back into the water we might be able to send him right back to his watery prison. We all head toward our enemy in our chariots, since you're probably wondering, yes I do have one, but I almost never use it. that's why Blackjack and Porkpike are allowed to roam free so much, I immortalized them so they could be my chariot pegasi when I needed them for that, and my friends when I didn't.
I had thought Typhon was terrifying through the Iris messages and dreams that I saw him in, but up close, that was a whole other story. His appearance almost made me want to turn around and get away as fast as I could, but I couldn't do that If we didn't take him down he would cause a lot of damage. That and the fact that I have the entire world to think about as well as my family. On top of that, I'm not just a god, I'm king of the gods. If I chickened out it would definitely look bad.
As we got closer to him Blackjack asked, "Are you sure about this boss?"
I replied, "I don't like it either Blackjack, but we have to."
Reluctantly my faithful pegasus flew closer to our enemy. I knew that this would be a hard fight, probably harder than anything else I had ever faced.
As the entire council approached Typhon, well except for Hestia, the war officially began. Apollo and Artemis fired arrow after arrow, beams of power, and weapons flew every which way. The war had begun. We weren't sure if any of the primordials would help us with Typhon, or if they were saving their energy for the final battle against their relatives.
I attempted to slow Typhon down by manipulating time, but he was huge, it would take more power than I had to stop him completely, and even slowing him took a lot of energy with or without the staff of Cronus. Even with all of us, I couldn't see how we would beat him. we couldn't kill him, the best we could hope for would be to trap him again and hope no-one else releases him again.
Honestly, I'd had my fill of battles, but I would have to get through this war and then hopefully it would be over and we would have peace. If we could lure Typhon back into the water, Dad and I might be able to trap him again, but if he had learned his lesson he might not fall for that again.
I went over ideas in my head but I just couldn't see how we could beat him. Part of me hoped that at least one of our primordial allies would help us deal with Typhon more quickly. If they didn't we might not defeat him at all. Or possibly not before the primordials attack Greece. If we don't defeat him in time, or Typhon beats us we would be falling right into the primordials' trap.
I knew that we had to beat him, but I couldn't see how. Even with sixteen of us, I couldn't see how we would win. Once the suspicion that the primordials might use Typhon came up we had discussed what we could do in this situation, but now that we were here facing him I didn't know if those ideas would be good enough. We were all fighting our hardest, but only time would tell how things would turn out.
Luke's Point of view
Today was the day that we had been told that The primordials would use some kind of distraction to keep the gods from helping us when they attack Greece. The day was normal until Chiron called a head counselor's meeting. I couldn't help but wonder what it was about. I also wondered what my parents were doing right now, what was the distraction that the Primordials were using. I figured the gods would be able to deal with it, I mean they're the gods they could handle it. Right?
The meeting was held in the sword arena due to the number of people who would be attending. The reason why there would be so many people was because a lot of the minor gods were staying here until they go with us to the battle in Greece. I heard that the minor gods that didn't have a Greek aspect were staying at camp Jupiter until the battle.
Most of the minor gods that were staying here were staying in their cabins with their kids, well the ones that had kids anyway. The ones that didn't have kids just stayed in their cabins. My sisters were the exceptions to this, they had chosen to stay in my dad's cabin with me. I'm not sure why. I mean we get along pretty well, but we have our occasional disputes. There is one argument that Zoe keeps bringing up over and over again, in fact, she brought it up the day they got here.
Zoe said, "Hey little brother,"
"I'm older!" I replied annoyed.
"Sure little brother." she said again.
Annoyed now I said, "Just because you walk around looking like twenty-year-olds doesn't make you older than me! if you actually looked your age you would look like a three-year-old."
It hadn't bothered me when Christina called me little brother, but that was because it was the truth I was younger than her. In this case, though I'm the oldest, and Emily is the youngest since out of the two of them Zoe was born first.
When I originally learned their names I quickly guessed that my dad had chosen Zoe's name while my mom had chosen Emily's. If you were wondering my mom and sisters do have cabins here which is a bit weird for me, but I'm pretty sure that my Mom's at least will remain unoccupied.
A couple of years ago my mom had blessed me with the abilities I would have if I had been born her demigod son. Obviously, I am her son but since she became a goddess many years after I was born I didn't have them. I just had my dad's and the other blessings I had been given.
When the meeting began Chiron revealed that the gods were facing the distraction as we spoke and that it was one of their greatest enemies. As if to further prove his point Iris brought up an Iris message that showed what was currently happening. I thought I'd faced frightening things before, but they didn't even compare to Typhon. The gods in their chariots looked like they were just annoying him like flies flying around someone's head. I tried to convince myself that they could beat him, I mean they've done it before.
"They can beat him right, I mean they've done it before, besides they're immortal so they can't die right...
I trailed off as it looked like Chiron and the minor gods didn't want to burst my bubble.
Emily said, "Brother, we can't die, but we can fade. Helios and Selene faded and their domains were taken on by Apollo and Artemis, Pan faded because not enough people still believed in him. We may be gods but we aren't completely invulnerable."
"Way to burst his bubble sis," Zoe said.
I think all that meeting did was make us worried about our parents, well except for the children of the minor gods who's parents were fine. They were still worried that if the Olympians didn't win against Typhon we most likely wouldn't win the war. I couldn't help but worry about my parents, they'd never faced Typhon before so how would they do against him.
My dad had faced a lot of different things, but I got the feeling that Typhon would bee the toughest opponent yet. I tried to convince myself that he had successfully defeated so many other opponents, that with the help of the other gods he could defeat Typhon.
Part of me hoped that Chaos or one of our other primordial allies would help them so they would be okay and be able to help us against the primordials and their allies.
