Chapter 4
Percy's Point of view
One day I went to visit Luke at camp. when I got there I knew he was at the beach. Since I wasn't really paying attention I didn't realize that he wasn't alone. When I saw who he was with and what they were doing I wasn't really surprised that he was with Taylor, and they were Kissing. When I saw them an amused look appeared on my face and I said, "I see you two are enjoying yourselves."
They both blushed the colour of ripe tomatoes, and before they could say anything I said, "Don't worry about it." Taylor left to give us privacy just as Luke stood and said, "Dad, There's something I need to tell you. I already told Chiron and we will be having a meeting later, but you also need to know."
"What is it?" I asked, already suspecting what he would tell me.
He said, "I had a dream last night. I saw Zeus talking to someone, he wants revenge on you and the other Olympians for dethroning him. I didn't recognise the person he was talking to."
"What did they look like?" I asked him thinking that I might be more likely to recognise them than he was. He gave me a general description of the person, confirming my suspicions in the process.
Luke asked me "Do you know who he was talking to?"
I said, "Yes he was talking to Pontus. He was obviously allying himself with them in order to get back at us. I'm guessing Pontus didn't tell him all their plans because otherwise, I doubt he would have agreed to them."
"Why do you think that?" Luke asked me.
I replied "Because it's pretty clear to me that Zeus only cares about himself. If Pontus told him everything that they were planning he wouldn't have sided with them no matter how much he hates us, because if the primordials succeed it will mean his death as well."
Luke sighed and said, "A war was not what I wanted for my birthday."
I replied, "I know what you mean, but hopefully we will win and things will turn out alright in the end."
He nodded but I knew that he like everyone else was worried about the war, and he certainly wasn't looking forward to it. I said, "If Zeus is back he might try and come after you to get back at me, Be careful, I will take away his ability to enter camp, and I will keep an eye open for him, but be careful."
We spoke for a little while, but I eventually had to leave in order to inform the council of what Luke had told me.
I try not to favour any of my children over the others, but at times it's difficult. For one, Luke was our first child and my only son. Not to mention everything he managed to do during the last war. But I was actually able to be there for Zoe and Emily as they grew up, and they are minor goddesses. Honestly, I like to think that I care for them all equally. My life has been great the last few years, Amber and I were happily married, we visited Luke as often as we could, and we had two daughters. We carried out our duties, and still managed to make time for ourselves. Like everyone else, I would have rathered our new peace not get interrupted by a war but unfortunately, I couldn't do anything about it.
I called a meeting and informed the others of the new information. As I told the others I came up with an idea of what we might be able to do to get Zeus out of this war early, but I knew that I couldn't be the one to do it. I would be the last person Zeus would want to see so there wouldn't be any point in me doing it. When I told the others some of them thought that it probably wouldn't work. It might not, but it's better than doing nothing and allowing Zeus to side with our enemies. It would also be risky, but we have to do something to stop him. None of us wanted Zeus back on the council, he doesn't care about what happens to the mortal world, all he cares about is himself.
Besides, even if we did want him back I doubt he would return to the council unless he was made the king of the gods again, and that isn't going to happen. Call me crazy if you want but I was going to try and find Zeus so one of us could try and knock some sense into him. One of us was going to try and tell him That the Primordials were lying to him, and siding with them would only lead to his downfall. Perhaps once someone told him that he would stay Neutral in this war if nothing else. I didn't expect him to come back to our side, I knew that he obviously hates us, but if he sides with the primordials it could lead to his own permanent downfall, and I know Zeus well enough to know that he wouldn't want that.
We actually do know quite a lot about the Primordial's plans. that is due to the fact that Thalassa, Aether, and Hemera are continuing to go to the primordial council meetings and then tell us what was discussed. Due to this, we know a great deal more about this war than we did for the others.
Along with Dad Andrew and I Thalessa used some of her power to help reinforce Typhon's underwater prison. Hopefully, that would prevent the primordials from freeing him. If nothing else it would slow them down. In the days following that meeting, we all kept an eye open for Zeus.
It wasn't long before we found him. we still hadn't decided who would go and try and talk him out of siding with our enemies, we needed someone who could persuade him without giving away just how much we knew about the primordials' plans. We couldn't afford to tell him too much unless he actually used his head and saw that the primordials lied to him.
We couldn't afford for him to find out about Aether, Hemera, and Thalassa either. They had proven to be quite helpful, and if we lost them we might just lose the war. As it was they told us that they were going to try and get Chaos to help us, at the moment he had chosen to remain neutral.
We called another meeting to discuss who would try to reason with that idiot of a sky god. Athena would be a logical choice except she, like basically all of us had participated in his dethroning. You might be asking why we weren't just sending him right back to Tartarus, well I guess we were just going to give him one last chance to do the right thing if he didn't well we wouldn't hesitate to send him back there.
As we were discussing who should go, numerous minor gods and goddesses appeared in the room, one of them who I recognized as Nike stepped forward. She said glancing at Piper and me, "Despite what happened the last time we encountered each other I wish to help you in this war, Victory will be on your side."
Nemesis was the next to speak. she said that she would help as well. One after another the minor gods and goddesses spoke up stating that they also wished to help us in the war.
Normally I would have been pleased by getting more allies, but the last two minor goddesses that showed up made me frown, not because I didn't trust them, it was because I didn't really want my daughters to be in danger. Sure I knew they could defend themselves, but I just wanted to protect them. The logical part of my mind told me to let them help, but I didn't really want to.
My thoughts must have shown on my face, either that or Amber was having similar thoughts, but for that matter it could have been both. No matter what it was Amber contacted me mentally and said "I know what your thinking, and I don't want them to be in danger any more than you do but we can't afford not to. We are up against four primordials, and who knows what else they may throw at us, we will need everyone we can get to help. We have no other choice we have to let them help."
I knew she was right, that's my wife always the logical one, even though I was still reluctant to agree I eventually gave in and allowed them to help. Whether I liked it or not I had no other choice. After that we began discussing how the different minor gods could help us. Most of them would help our demigod children in Greece since we knew the primordials would reveal their distraction soon. That is the one part of their plan that we aren't sure about, Aether, Hemara, and Thalassa weren't completely sure what they would use for a distraction, but if it turned out to be what they thought it was we would be in trouble, big trouble.
Most of the council thought that Zoe and Emily would be the best candidates to try and make Zeus see sense since they were the goddesses of trust and honesty. The downside to that plan was that if he didn't know who they were he would ask, and once he learned they were my daughters he would probably refuse to listen to them, and most likely attack them. If he already knew about them he would definitely attack them and refuse to listen.
They were really our best option since he would definitely attack anyone from the council for what we did to him. if they succeeded in getting Zeus to see sense they would help the demigods. Honestly I'm worried about this war, I thought the last three were hard, but this one just might be the worst
