Chapter 13
Zoe's Point of view
The battle seemed to rage on and on, but being the daughter of the god of time I knew that it hadn't been that long. The army of monsters seemed to be endless. Unlike the Olympians and primordials who were primarily on the front lines, the minor gods and goddesses were scattered throughout our forces in order to help protect the demigods.
I knew that my father had been reluctant to let me and Emily help since he is kind of overprotective of us but my mom had managed to convince him that we are fully capable of defending ourselves and that we were needed since there was a chance we could lose this war if we didn't have as many allies as we could get.
A few demigods and even fewer minor gods had stayed back at the camps just in case the primordials tried to attack them while we are gone. They had never said anything about attacking the camps but they might have just kept that plan to themselves instead of telling anyone who could possibly tell us. Emily wasn't too far away from where I was and with us were several demigods and legacies.
The Veteran demigods at both the camps had been reluctant to let their children help. Most of their children were still too young to even be trained much less fight in a war but there were a few that had been allowed to help albeit reluctantly. Max Rodriguez, the eldest child of Clarisse and Chris Rodriguez, had been allowed to join the battle.
I knew that his mother Clarisse was also around here somewhere while Chris Rodriguez had stayed at Camp Half Blood to help Protect it. Evan Valdez was another legacy who was here, His father Leo was also here but Calypso had stayed to help protect the younger children at Camp Half Blood. Along with her immortality, she had regained her sorceress abilities and since then she helped out around camp when she wasn't with Leo and their kids.
I only knew all this because of our dad and the amount of time I'd been spending at Camp Half Blood lately. At the last couple council meetings that my sister and I had attended, I'd noticed Apollo eyeing my sister like she was the girl he wanted to be with next. I'm not sure if she liked him back or if my dad had noticed before Typhon knocked him to who knows where. I got the feeling he hadn't because I figured that if my dad had noticed Apollo might have had to treat his own wounds instead of someone else's, but then again dad might have been waiting until after the war to mention it to Apollo since we need everyone to fight.
At least Apollo wasn't eyeing me because I was already interested in someone else but I wasn't sure if she liked me back. I hadn't seen her that many times but despite that, I felt something for her and I knew the feelings weren't just friendly.
I can find that out after we win this war. Even though it looks near impossible we have to win, if we don't the world as we know it would probably be destroyed. Eventually, I sensed an all too familiar Presence arrive not far from where the battle was taking place. I got the feeling he was going to join in but when I glanced in his direction Apollo was practically running toward him.
Not long after that the the two of them left but they weren't gone all that long. They returned only moments after Piper. I hadn't noticed anything happening to her but she must have been seriously injured since I guessed that Apollo must have had to get my dad's help to heal her.The three of them rejoined the battle and nothing major happened for a while but obviously, that didn't last forever.
I eventually noticed Max Rodriguez trying to take on one of several Cyclopses while the other five weren't far away. While I didn't know a lot about him I knew enough to know that he could use just about any weapon if a situation called for it although he was better with the spear and sword than any other weapon.
I could tell that he was gradually tiring as he fought the large group of cyclopses. I didn't see Clarisse nearby and I started heading toward him in order to help him out. I couldn't use all of my powers for fear of hurting any nearby demigods or legacies. I headed toward him but before I got to him I saw that a cyclops had hit him in the head with its club.
He fell to the ground and managed to evade one more attack from the cyclops before he must have passed out. I got to him and managed to block the cyclops's next strike before it could hit the young legacy of Ares. I fought the cyclopses and eventually, Max returned to consciousness and got to his feet, facing the monsters in front of him once again.
Despite that, I tried to watch his back as I faced the monsters in front of me. I fought with a sword decapitating a cyclops, stabbing a telekhine in the chest. And killed numerous other monsters. Eventually, though it seemed that Max's luck had run out since before I could help him the dracna in front of him managed to slip past his guard and stabbed him the stomach her spear going right through him.
Although I had been unable to save him I finished off the monster in front of me and then killed the dracna that had killed him. It was pretty obvious that there was no way to save him I could tell that he was already gone. Not only that but we can't just resurrect everyone either.
If one of the gods is considering bringing someone back from the dead it has to be discussed by the Olympian Council first. There are still laws that restrict what gods can do without the consent of the council. They can do almost anything related to their own domains but there are limits on many other things. I'm not sure how long this battle will continue for but we have no other choice but to win since we can't afford to lose.
Luke's point of view
The battle continued on for quite some time, eventually, Taylor and I got separated but I hoped she would be okay. I noticed when my dad returned, obviously I was relieved to see that he was okay but I had to concentrate on the battle. I kept on battling the many monsters that came my way until I encountered one that made me wonder how he got past the primordials and the Olympians.
He was one of the more powerful monsters that I knew of so I wondered why the gods hadn't dealt with him already. Regardless I couldn't waste time wondering about that since he was one monster that definitely needed to be defeated quickly since if he roams loose much longer he could cause a lot of damage. I'd had quite a lot of training and I'd defeated quite a few monsters since I'd learned I was a demigod five years ago.
Now though I still wasn't sure if I could handle the manticore by myself. There were other demigods nearby but most of them were younger than I was so out of all of us I was more likely to be able to beat him but I still wasn't sure I would be able to. Before I could move to attack or even lift my shield to defend myself he had already fired one of the spines from his tail at me.
when it hit me it hurt worse than it would normally since it was just my luck that it would hit the same shoulder that the empousa had bitten earlier. I grimaced at the pain but I tried not to focus on it since I had to kill the monster one way or another. I managed to dodge the monster's next attack but I knew dodging wouldn't be good enough I would have to kill him before he causes much more damage.
I didn't exactly have time to come up with a plan but despite that, I tried to come up with some kind of strategy to defeat the monster as I fought. The next time he flung one of his spikes at me I was pretty much expecting it so like I had the time before I used one of my abilities from Hermes to quickly dodge the spike. I wasn't quite sure what I would have to do to kill him I could maybe stop him from flinging his spikes at me with my time powers but I would only be able to do that for so long before I would be tired out. I came to the conclusion that I would need help for this since it seemed that he was too strong for me. right then though I didn't see anyone who would be able to help me since most of the demigods nearby were younger and less experienced than I was myself and I didn't notice any minor gods or Olympians nearby.
Despite that fact that I really didn't think I was strong enough I would have to at least try to fight him on my own. I could try and distract him in hopes of someone coming to help me but I wasn't sure how long it would take for someone to notice my situation. Despite that, it was certainly a better option than getting killed so I gave it a shot. Before he could attack me again I asked him, "Didn't Dionysus kill you?"
Sounding kind of annoyed the monster replied in a french accent, "Indeed he did demigod, but that was many years ago and I have returned to get my revenge,"
Just trying to keep him distracted I replied, "What is with you monsters and revenge, I get that the gods punished you but that was a long time ago, I think it's time to just let it go,"
Before the monster could reply I saw help finally coming in the form of my sister Emily before the monster noticed her she blasted him with a beam of power. The power knocked him back a step. And hopefully, it also weakened him.
"Need some help little brother?" she asked clearly teasing me.
I groaned but decided that it wasn't the best time to argue with her over the fact that I was the oldest. Before the monster could regain his footing Emily blasted him once again. I hurried toward the monster in hopes of killing him before he regained his balance.
I failed however since he regained his balance and was about to launch one of his spikes at me but since I saw it coming I used my powers over time and stopped him. Without his main weapon, he couldn't do much to stop me when I finally got in front of him and killed him. As the battle continued Emily continued fighting not far away from me.
knowing her, when this war is over she will probably bug me nonstop about the fact I needed her help but I wouldn't worry about that just yet since I need to concentrate on the battle. My injured shoulder made it harder to lift my shield arm but I will have to push through it since I have no idea how long this battle will continue for.
