1. The fandom references are there, as well as the trigger warnings. Sonia and Avery and their friends from the Academy only read, watch, or listen to (they get internet down there because the Head Trainer has friends on the upside) books, movies, TV shows, or songs associated or centered on or containing death. This is to familiarize them with death. As such, they unknowingly reference songs, books, movies, or TV shows associated with death and dying. I will be putting a description before I start a chapter. This will include trigger warnings.
2. This is a very diverse book. Homophobes, racists, transphobes, and otherwise discriminatory folks, get. And I mean, go. Take this book off your reading list or out of your library. If you haven't guessed from the first chapter, I'm trying to basically incorporate characters that are as diverse as humans. If you have a problem with that, go. Get. Shoo. Go away. Get out. Bye.
3. I have a tendency to ramble. If I go on a description tangent, which is basically me taking 1+ paragraph/s to describe something or someone, unless it's an elaborate feast, I am rambling. I cannot get ideas out of my head fast enough, and I really like describing things.
4. I try to steer clear of cliches. This includes things like main character love triangles, a clear, happy, healthy relationship in which one of the characters eventually dies, and other things like that. The full list is (I've added in some editorial comments in parentheses):
- Characters doing extraordinary things, like backflipping off buildings and landing on their feet. That would never happen. (Girlboss please, your feet would die if the rest of you didn't.)
- Characters making witty remarks about something when faced with a life-or-death situation or when kidnapped by a villain. (Keep your mouth shut, you're going to probably die. Try to speak with your manager when you're in heaven, Karen.)
- Female characters being in trouble and being rescued by a male character. (This is just sexist writers at work. No.)
- Dead parents. (Where are the parents?????? Dead??????? Ok, convenient.)
- Love triangles. (You're just boring your reader, this has been done thousands of times. Try something new.)
- A problem less relationship, and then one of the characters suddenly falls ill or dies. (W—what? That makes no—what? H-how—)
- Turning a platonic relationship into a romantic or sexual one. (LET THEM STAY FRIENDS. DON'T MAKE THEM BE BOYFRIEND AND GIRLFRIEND, LET THEM BE FRIENDS.)
5. I do not have a set schedule. I could update twice a day, once a month, three times a week, all within the space of five weeks. I am a disorganized person.
