CHAPTER NUMBER EIGHTEEN:
season number four episode monstrous!

OPHELIA COOPER WAS ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING SHE never thought she'd be
doing again. The blonde had promised herself
she would never ever try to contact the outside world again. More specifically , contact Charlie.

Ophelia knew that it was dangerous. Not only for
her physical health , but her mental health as well. Charlie had really damaged her. He made her feel wortless and crazy. He demeaned her for his own selfish gain of having her all to himself. Ophelia had cried for months after losing him. She was convinced he was the only person that could help understand who she waswhat she was. Charlie fed her lies upon lies and still , deep down in Ophelia Cooper's heart , she still loved him.

And that's why she had to see him to see if there anyway she could salvage what was left of his soul.

A freshly showered Ophelia sat in the middle of
her bed , her legs crossed as she fluttered her
eyelids closed. Summoning spirits wasn't her specialty , but she dabbled in it a time or two.
She cleared her throather mind clearing as she thought of the one person she needed to see.
There wasn't any weird , candle lighting ritual or weird mantra she had to recite. All she had to do
was clear her mind and request to see him. Her stomach knotted up nervously as she thought of seeing him again , for their last meet up wasn't so pleasant. But she was determinedso determined that she hadn't realized the ginger haired spirit was standing only a few feet away from her , a wicked look on her face as she screwed her eyelids closed. "You're looking for me?" He spoke up , causing Ophelia's skin to crawl. Her heart jumped in her chest as she gasped , clutching the skin as she looked up at him with her mouth agape.

"Charlie?" Ophelia said breathlessly , earning a mocking chuckle from him. The blonde licked
her dry lips as she soaked in the sight of him.
He hadn't changed a bit. . . "We need to talk."

"You mean you need to talk." He reiterated.
Charlie strolled around her room , caressing things as he walked. "You know I'm surprised , I didn't think you had it in you to summon a demon."

Ophelia shook her head. "You aren't a
demon Charlie." She denied softly.

He couldn't stop the chuckle from rolling off her
lips. "Ah , little naive Ophelia Coopersame as always." Charlie tutted as he glanced at the blonde before him. Her innocence making him shutter.

"Do you want to move on , Charlie?" Ophelia questioned him softly. "You've been with me for
so longI know you must want to. You know
that I can help you." She wanted to help him.
She wanted him to say yes. That all this time ,
all he really wanted was Ophelia's help.

Charlie stiffened at the question. "I can't move on. I'm stuck here." He said spitefully. "I'm stuck here because there's one thing that not even you can help me with Ophelia." His voice raised an octave.

Ophelia took a couple steps closer. "Let me try!"
She pleaded , hoping that he'd take her offer.

Charlie's anger boiled as Ophelia's persistence annoyed him. A lightbulb bursted at his energy and when Ophelia jumped , he did his best to calm down. "It's not that easy." A sigh escaped his tired lips. The wicked aura around him dwindling like a candle light's flame reaching the end of its wick. "You were the first person with your gift that paid attention to me. You liked me. . . when I died , I was so angry with God and when he sent me to youI just decided that being evil would punish him for taking my life away too soon." He paused as Ophelia listened intently , her eyes scrunched up as she concentrated one thing that he loved about her) "But you were so kind. So young and naive. When I would comb your heart and hear you cry about your parents and how they made you feel about me , I started to hate them. As you blossomed into more than just a child , I realized that I didn't feel like I was nothing. I felt human with you andand I loved you." Ophelia's ears almost went out at Charlie's words. This was something beyond her. "That's why I stick around , don't you see? You blocked me out Ophelia! You sent me away! How could you do that to me? When I was the only person that truly cared about you."

Ophelia flinched at his harsh tone of voice. The
way his face contorted into such anger shoved
fear down her throat. Swallowing her breath , Ophelia shook her head. "I didn't know Charlie
I thought you were evil. Truly evil but I see now
that you're not and I want to help you move on."
The blonde pleaded , she wanted all of this to
stop. She wanted to stop fearing him , to stop
hating him. "You kept me afraid for three years Charlie! I thought you wanted me dead"

"I did." Charlie admitted shamefully. "I wanted
you dead so you could be with me." His red locks glimmered underneath the lightbulb , his ghostly fingers reached out to touch Ophelia's pale skin. "But I see now that you deserve to live Ophelia.
And that's why I can't move on. I can't move on knowing what I did to youand I can't move
on with knowing that I'll never see you again."

"I forgive you." Ophelia murmured , her hands cupping his cheeks that were relaxednot strewn up in a wicked grin. "And you will see me again Charlie. Maybe not in this lifetime , but my soul is always going to be connected to yours. You were my friend , ghost or not. You protected me as much as you hurt me. I love you , and I want to see you finally reach the potential that you're meant to."

The spirit paused as he searched Ophelia's eyes for deception. He wanted to feel loved by her , and truthfully. "Come to my grave." He said abruptly. "Promise me you'll go to visit my grave every year on your birthday. . . promise me that and I'll be able to move on." Charlie swore to her , his eyes glazed over with tears. "I got to see you grow upand I want to continue to see that every year."

Through everything Charlie had put her through ,
he had just been misunderstood. What Ophelia
and Charlie had was something special. Because
no matter what , deep down Ophelia never gave
up on Charlieshe never lost hope. And if
wouldn't have been for Allison , the two would
have never met on common grounds and saw
the understanding the two shared. "Promise."

And Ophelia was planning on keeping that promise.

OPHELIA COOPER FELT FREE— A WEIGHT LIFTED OFF HER SHOULDERS knowing that Charlie would be gone for good , and she wouldn't have to worry about him coming back to haunt her anymore. A newfound feeling of happiness washed over the blonde girl as she skipped down the stairs , planning to go and visit Liam. She wanted to see how he was , with everything going on she hadn't had a chance to see him yet. Or even speak to Scott. She felt a little sad about it feeling a little hurt that he hadn't bothered to call her , but just like her , he had responsibilities to deal with and his whole life couldn't revolve around her and her feelings.

But Ophelia wasn't expecting to come downstairs to see her mother and father waiting for her at the kitchen table. A file folder in front of them as they watched her with carefull eyes. "We're getting a divorce." Ophelia's mother said coldlyno amount of remorse in her words. "Me and your father are splitting the shares. We're trying to make this the least messy we can." Ophelia wished she could say she was shocked. But her continuous absence hadn't been called out since their last dinner as a "family" , which didn't end well when she thought about it.

"What your mother is trying to say is that since me and her both have the same schedule and income , you're old enough to make your own choice." Her father's voice wavered and Ophelia felt her blood boil when her mother rolled her eyes at him.

"Who do you want to live with Ophelia?" Her
mother said blankly , not missing a syllable.

Ophelia's mouth went dry. It was an overwhelming question and she didn't want to let either of them down. Sure her mother didn't treat her that great , but that was just her personality. She always had good intentions. Rubbing a hand over her face , Ophelia shrugged. "I love you both so much. . . I don't want to hurt either one of you by choosing."

"You can have some time." Robert promised.
"All the time you need , actually. We love you very much Ophelia and we don't want this to affect you
in a negative way." He soothed gently. "I hope
you know that none of this is your fault."

"I know." She told them , flickering her eyes back and forth. The two seemed like strangers to eachother and it made Ophelia's heart cry.
"I'll think about it , but I to go."

"Go where?" Her mother asked , or more so demanded to know. "You're always out and about! You don't do anything around here Ophelia and I'm tired of having an empty home."

"See a friend." Ophelia answered her tightly. "For someone that is supposed to be so concerned about my choice , you sure aren't acting like it!"

Ophelia's mother gasped at her tone.
The blonde never was one to talk back to her.
"You need to watch that attitude , Ophelia!"

"You need to love me more , mom!" She mocked back. "I've made my choice and it isn't you."

"What are you talking about , Ophelia?"

"That!" Ophelia pointed out quickly. "All my life you've just seen me as the basketcase girl that can never please you. You want me trapped in this house like an animal because you're embarrassed of me and my past. You never show that you love me! You never hug me or tell me that I'm prettyall you do is work and bitch out dad."

Ophelia's mother abruptly stood up out of her chair. She pointed an accusing finger in Ophelia's face. Robert stood up quickly and tried calming her down , but she pushed him away. "All the hospital bills I pay for you? All the times I held you when you cried about the kids making fun of you at school. I even got a little boy kicked out of your kindergarten class for cutting off your ponytail and making you cry about it for two weeks! Don't you dare tell me that I don't love you , Ophelia Elisabeth because that's a lie and you know it!"

Ophelia's face was now streaming with tears.
Never could she be happy and stay that way
without something coming and ruining her happiness. "That's not the point mom. I'm not happy when I'm around you. You make me feel like I have to be this perfect daughter , perfect student. I just want to do something that makes me happy."

Robert walked from around the dining room
table. The tension making it hard for the three of them to breathe. "I think we all need to calm down about this later" he shot his wife , or soon to be
EX wife , a stern look. "Go see your friend Ophelia , I'll settle down your mother." He assured her.

Ophelia looked between her two parents
hesitantly. As much as she wanted to stay and
make sure everything would be alright , she wasn't
in the mood to deal with anymore drama for the night. Sighing deeply , Ophelia nodded her head and sent him a soft smile. "Cold pizza for dinner?"

Robert winked and that was all Ophelia needed to stalk towards the door without another glance.

Now next on her agenda , Liam Dunbar.
