Expression Triangle
Kiara stepped inside the Salvatore house with Klaus close behind her and watched as Caroline drank from an unfinished plastic cup with alcohol.
Kiara was wearing a top with a jean and some boots.
"If you wanted to go wasted, the Mystic Grill is only a few seconds away with your vampire speed."Kiara told the blonde girl.
"What are you two doing here?" Caroline asked, not looking at them as she continued to clean up the house.
"Not judging you for starters, although if you are determined to get drunk, then perhaps I might recommend something a little more sanitary?"Klaus said.
Kiara smirked and sat down at the arm of a couch in the room. Caroline turned to them with a blank look before taking a cup and drinking the rest of the alcohol in it.
"Well you showed us."Klaus smirked.
" Shouldn't you be out chasing Tyler to the ends of the earth? Or are there still some hopes and dreams you wanna crush around here?" Caroline asked.
"Depends. Do you happen to know where the young Brutus is?" Klaus said.
"I know where he's not. With me. And he gave Matt the deed to the house, so he's gone for good." Caroline responded.
"Tyler made it his life's mission to kill me. And who knows what he would've done to Kiara? But I'm sure he told you what he's done to her before." Klaus said, narrowing his eyes on the blonde."Klaus said narrowing his eyes at the blonde.
Kiara had told him about the time when Tyler tried to beat her but she defended herself magic or Derek would beat the crap out of him.
Kiara grabbed his hand in case he spontaneously decided to kill the blonde. Stefan had asked them to come and they couldn't just come in and start killing someone inside the house. Maybe when they were outside, they could.
"He changed. Now if you don't mind, I'd like to get back to spiraling, so go away." Caroline defended.
Stefan walked in, saying "Actually, I asked them to be here. We need their help. I think Silas is in Mystic Falls."
"So some blood went missing from a few hospitals. What about Elena? Don't vampires with their humanity off tend to overindulge in human blood, or were you the exception?"Klaus shrugged as he served himself bourbon.
He motioned Kiara to take the glass cup, but only shook her head that she didn't want it. He furrowed his eyebrows for a second before grinning mocking at Stefan.
"It's not, Elena."Stefan reassured.
"Well, let's say for a moment that it was Silas. I'm struggling to see how this affects me." Klaus said as he sat down next to Kiara.
"Look. Silas wants to die and be reunited with his one true love, but he's supernatural, so if he takes the cure and dies, he gets stuck on the Other Side." Stefan explained.
"How Shakespearian."Klaus commented.
"But if he destroys the Other Side altogether, he can take the cure, die, and pass on, but in destroying it, every dead supernatural being will return to our side." Stefan continued.
"That means every werewolf, every witch, every vampire. I wonder how many of those you personally killed. Care yet?" Caroline spoke up.
"Our interest is piqued." Klaus smiled.
"How do we stop him?"Kiara asked.
"Bonnie said Silas needs to complete three massacres to do this spell. Before Professor Shane died, he convinced the pastor to blow up the Council. Next, he had you and Kiara kill your hybrids, and now he only needs one more massacre, so if he's here, that's what he's doing. We need to find him." Stefan explained.
That night, they went to Shane's office and start looking though his stuff.
"What are we even looking for?" Caroline asked.
"Well, if Shane really was working with Silas, chances are he was helping him plan his next move." Stefan explained as they began search the office.
"Where, on his evil villain to-do list? 'Steal blood, perform 3 massacres, pick up dry cleaning'?" Caroline retorted.
"Actually, not to nit-pick, but we evil villains usually use minions to pick up our dry cleaning, that sort of thing." Klaus said causing a small smile to appear on Kiara's lips.
"Why are they necessary again?" Caroline asked Stefan.
" Well, we don't know what Silas can do, so if we do have to go head to head with him, an Original hybrid who can't die might come in handy. And Kiara is as strong, maybe even stronger than Bonnie since she's from two powerful witches bloodlines."Stefan stated.
"Why thank you."Kiara smiled at the vampire.
"Besides, Stefan and I work well together, or at least we did in the twenties." Klaus commented.
"Well, granted my emotions were off." Stefan stated.
"And that's why you were more fun, just as Damon is probably relishing in Elena's emotionless company in New York." Klaus smirked.
"My brother knows what he's doing." Stefan defended.
"Does he? Don't underestimate the allure of darkness, Stefan. Even the purest hearts are drawn to it." Klaus provoked.
"Like Kiara?" Caroline asked.
"Yes, possibly." Klaus answered.
"What got you there?"Kiara questioned the book in the blonde's hands.
"I...I think I found something. 'Symbolic Figures in the Dark Arts.' Didn't Bonnie talk about Expression Triangles? Here." Caroline announced as she walked over to the desk Klaus sat near.
She pointed at a page in the book. There were a square and inside of it was a triangle with multiple symbols.
Stefan reads from the page opposite "In some schools of magic such as Expression, human sacrifice can be used as a focus for power. It is rumored that the addition of two supernatural sacrifices compounds the mystical energy, creating an Expression Triangle."
"Humans, that was the council fire. Demons, Klaus' hybrid failure." Caroline said.
"Well, I wouldn't exactly call it a failure. What's the third?" Klaus interjected.
"It's obviously witches."Kiara said as she looked through the bookshelves. She turned around to find everyone else staring at her, so she asked "What?"
"You knew?" Caroline said.
"Of course I did. It was kind of obvious. I thought you all knew as well. Did you not?"Kiara said in a duh tone.
"No, we didn't."Stefan said, crossing his arms.
"I didn't know I was the only one who was able to put one and one together. Talk about stupidity."Kiara said before muttering.
Stefan left the room.
Caroline, Kiara and Klaus were alone in the office, poring over a map of Mystic Falls. Caroline, with a ruler and a pen, draws lines on the map while she talks.
"There've been two massacres. Pastor Young's farm is here, and the old Lockwood cellar, where you spitefully slaughtered 12 of your own hybrids, is here. According to the book, the Expression Triangle is equilateral, putting it here. "Caroline spoke as she has drawn a line connecting the two locations.
Caroline draws another two lines, forming a triangle on the map.
"Somebody's been skipping their geometry classes." Klaus commented.
Caroline frowned and Kiara takes the ruler and pen.
" There are actually two places where the third massacre could be." Kiara says as she draws two more lines, forming another triangle opposite of Caroline's.
"Well, you didn't let me finish." Caroline smiled.
Kiara chuckled while Stefan entered the room.
"Hey. What's going on? Did you find Bonnie?" Caroline asked Stefan.
"No, but I talked to her dad. I think I found Silas." Stefan answered.
Later on, Klaus held his hand out to Kiara. The hybrid girl grinned, amused by his actions before taking his hand. Their fingers intertwined as they walked hand in hand through the forest. They've split up from Caroline and Stefan to check for the two possible locations. They were going to one location and the couple was going to the other.
"You know. This would be a romantic date if we weren't looking for a coven of witches." Kiara smiled at the hybrid.
"Who said we can't?"Klaus said, glancing at her.
"Maybe some other time. When Silas isn't a problem and when there's a day where something bad doesn't happen."Kiara suggested.
Klaus looked down at his phone and looked around the area and then says "Well, we're here, although judging by the lack of witches, here is not the correct location."
Once the couple arrived at the correct location, Stefan informed them "They're linked. Bonnie's gonna kill them."
"Not if the witches kill her first." Klaus stated as he slammed Stefan against a tree. Kiara behind Klaus looked at Caroline as if daring her to make a move.
"We need to save her."Caroline pleaded.
"How? The only way to stop the witches is to kill them, and then Silas gets what he wants." Klaus argued.
They heard the coven begin chanting. Before anybody could react, Caroline vamp-sped to the witch holding the knife and stabbed her through the chest.
"No!" Klaus and Kiara shouted at the same time.
Slowly, one by one, the rest of the coven died as well as the fire on the torches.
The following morning, Kiara glared at the blonde vampire sitting at a fallen tree trunk as Klaus buried the last dead witch.
Kiara scoffed "What a waste of time. One life over probably a million."
"Now Silas has everything he needs to open the gates to hell on earth."Klaus fumed.
"You were just gonna let Bonnie die."Caroline countered.
"She's not that fucking important! She's not the fucking president of the United States or the Queen of England, and even if she was it wouldn't have matter because we still would've let her die!"The Parker girl yelled at the blonde, causing her to flinch.
"She's my best friend!"Caroline said as she stood up.
"I don't care! Just like you didn't care who you had to kill to save her! And now Silas is going to destroy the Other Side and every monsters we killed will come back. I'm trying to keep my friends safe so they're not involved in these constant problems you and your friends always cause!"Kiara yelled at her.
Caroline's eyes widened at the news and tears built up in her eyes before she left the couple.
Klaus pulled the hybrid girl into his hars just as she was about to drop to the forest ground. Her arms wrapped around him as she sought out comfort from him. She took a deep breath as she felt herself go emotional.
"You should go get some rest."The hybrid whispered.
"Yeah."Kiara said.
"I love you."She then whispered before planting a kiss on his lips.
"I love you, too."The hybrid said before she disappeared from his sight.
Once she was gone, Klaus was now standing in the woods alone, turning around when someone was behind him. It was Silas who had took the appearance of Shane.
"Thank you. Of the three massacres, this is the one I was dreading." Silas said.
"Silas, I presume. I'm sorry, mate. Don't have it." Klaus smiled, patting his pockets.
"But you know who does, and the last thing you want is for that cure to be used on you, so you bring it to me, and it won't be. You get to live." Silas smirked.
" Yeah. With all of my dead supernatural enemies from the Other Side. You know, you don't scare me, Silas, or Shane, or whoever you are." Klaus laughed.
"But I think I know what does." Silas said as he pilled out the white oak stake.
"Now where did you get that?" Klaus asked.
"Well, let's just say your sister's mind is a little easier to read than yours. So...care to reconsider my offer?" Silas answered.
Klaus pauses for moment, then vamp-runs toward Silas, but Silas disappears. Suddenly Silas attacks Klaus from behind and stabs him with the white oak stake, and Klaus screams in pain.
" I missed by an inch, but don't worry. I'm not trying to kill you, not just yet. Just a little something to remember me by. I'll be in touch." Silas said as he breaks off the white oak stake, leaving the broken tip stuck in Klaus' back before he pats Klaus on the shoulder and walks away.
Klaus remains kneeling on the ground, groaning in pain.
