Comfort
Two days later at night, Hayley emerges from a small store into a truck stop parking lot. She cautiously looks around as she walks between two eighteen wheelers. Suddenly, she hears the sound of something hitting metal. She stops for a second and looks around. She hears the noise again but from behind her this time. She turns around and sees a man standing between the two eighteen wheelers.
The vampire vamp runs over to her, grabs her by the throat, and slams her against the side of one of the trucks. Hayley begins to choke and gasp for air. The vamp throws her to the ground and looks down at her, his lip curled up into a snarl. Before he can harm Hayley any further, Lola runs up to the rogue vamp, grabs him by his jacket, and spins him around to face him.
The vampire get up and Klaus who was also here fighting the vampire.
Lola was wearing a sweater with a jean and some boots.
"Have a care, mate. That's no way to treat a lady. I do hate bad manners."Klaus said as his hybrid face appeared and he bites the vampire on the neck before his face turned back to normal.
"You came." Hayley says.
"Well you did say it was urgent, Hayley." Klaus said.
The vampire that Klaus attacked is writhing on the ground, gripping his neck wound and moaning. Rhea extends her hand towards Hayley. She takes it and Lola pulls her up from the ground. Hayley looks over at the vampire lying on the ground. He suddenly gets up and vamp runs away.
"Oh, don't worry about him, Hayley. He'll never make it through tomorrow night." Lola told her.
"What if there are more?"Hayley asked.
"You were foolish enough to make a deal with Katherine Pierce. She used you to find the cure and now you're nothing but a loose end. You'll be lucky if she lets you live."Lola stated.
" You said you would protect me."Hayley scoffed.
"And we will. Just as soon as you tell us everything you know about Katherine. Now come on, let's go. The only house you'll be safe is the Mikaelson Mansion."Lola said as they left.
Later, at the Mikaelson Mansion, Hayley and Lola went upstairs while there was a knock on the door and Klaus went to answer it and it revealed that it was Damon Salvatore.
"Ah, what an unpleasant surprise." Klaus says sarcastically.
" So I just came up with a list." Damon told him, striding into the parlor, a piece of paper in his hand.
Klaus shuts the door and follows Damon into the room.
" It's called 'Things You Suck At'. Number one: Finding Katherine. Ever. Number two: covering up your secret phone conversations with that little backstabber Hayley. Yeah, where is she? And what does she know about Katherine?"Damon told him.
"I should help you? After you lot killed my brother and imprisoned me and Lola in the Gilbert living room?"Klaus challenged, glaring at the elder Salvatore brother.
"You might want to prioritize, Klaus. You have much bigger problems." Damon snapped back.
Klaus stared at him for a moment.
"Katherine has the cure. My guess is she's gonna want to cram it down your throat. You help me find Katherine, I'll get the cure, I'll give it to Elena, everybody wins. Just let me question Hayley about Katherine." Damon declared.
"Can't help you, mate. Hayley's off limits. Although, I did have a run in with a vampire who may know where Katerina is. Too bad for you, she bit halfway through his bloody neck. He probably won't have much time for chit-chat." Klaus told him.
"Klaus..." Damon tried.
"Get out, mate." Klaus ordered.
As Klaus wasn't going to help, Damon stormed out of the house.
Lola and Hayley came into the room.
"Thank you, Klaus."Lola told Klaus.
"Anything for you, Lola." Klaus told her.
Afterwards, Hayley and Lola were sitting at a table across from each other. Hayley, pulling her foot up onto her chair, takes a sip of wine while Klaus talked to her, saying "So, you're rested, you're fed. Tell me about Katerina."
"Most men get their power kick from torture and intimidation. With you, it's drinks and fine dining."Hayley commented.
"You should be thanking me. But then again he could change his mind."Kiara replied.
"Where is Katerina?" Klaus asked.
"You seriously think I know?" Hayley laughed.
"You tipped her off as to what we were up to and set her on a course to find the cure. In return, she sent her lackey to snuff you out. Tell me, what did Katerina promise you?" Klaus stated.
Hayley looks at him and pauses for a moment before setting down her glass and readjusting in her seat, leaning forward and says "I was in New Orleans trying to find information about my real parents. Katherine found me and told me she could help."
"An orphan? Well, that does explain your charming bravado. Abandonment issues will do it every time." Klaus asked.
"Sounds like you would know."Hayley says.
"We're the only ones that can protect you. I'm happy to do so, provided you cooperate."Lola told her.
Hayley walks into another room with a drink in her hand, Klaus and Lola following behind her and stopping in the doorway. She approaches an area where Klaus's paintings lay on tables or stand propped up on the ground.
" Hate that. Too much. I don't get that."Hayley says, flipping through larger ones standing upright.
Klaus and Lola walked further into the room.
Hayley started picking up smaller paintings and gives her opinions "Hmm...I don't care. Hmm. This one."
She picks up a painting of a dark figure silhouetted by a fading sky, standing near a bare tree.
"It doesn't make me wanna puke. Why'd you paint it?"Hayley said.
"Painting is a metaphor for control. Every choice is mine, the canvas, the color. As a child, I had neither a sense of the world nor my place in it, but art taught me that one's vision can be achieved with sheer force of will. The same is true of life, provided one refuses to let anything stand in one's way. " Klaus explained while putting an arm around Lola's waist.
Hayley snorted slightly, smiling "So this is your thing, show a girl a few mediocre paintings, whine about your childhood, and I swoon and spill all my dirty secrets? Seriously, Lola, you were charmed by that?"
"He has many charms."Lola told her.
Klaus smirked and kissed her forehead.
"I bet."Hayley said.
"And regardless, I'm enjoying myself." Klaus added.
"And you do whatever you enjoy. Up to and including hunting my friend Tyler for the next century." Hayley stated.
"Oh, surely not the next century. Only until I kill him." Klaus joked.
"You talk a good game but the truth is you let him go. My guess: you know if you kill him, Caroline will hate you forever. And since Lola no longer hate Caroline , you don't want to break their frenemies ship because of want of killing Tyler."Hayley laughed.
"If I simply killed Tyler, my revenge would be over in a moment. Sentencing him to a lifetime of paranoia and fear, that's Tyler's true punishment. You know, if Tyler has even half your resolve, he may actually make it through the year." Klaus told her.
" It doesn't take resolve. It takes allies, a network of people willing to do anything for you, including chase down loose ends to their death. That's how Katherine escaped you all this time." Hayley says, sipping her drink and shaking her head.
"Perhaps you know the names of Katerina's special little helpers." Klaus said, finally interested.
"Maybe I know one or two. Maybe I'll even tell you." Hayley chuckled as she knocked back the rest of her drink.
A few moments later, Klaus was hanging up his cell phone while Hayley stands with a drink watching the fireplace and talking to Lola and Hayley.
"My sister informs me that your vampire assailant is dead, so you're safe and free to go. Or stay." Klaus told Hayley.
"I could be persuaded to stay, enjoy some of the good life. And maybe I could drum up a few more of Katherine's secrets and you could do something for me."Hayley says.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Hayley, but you'll never convince me to let Tyler go free." Klaus smiled.
"Well, then, I guess Tyler will never get his happy ending with the vampire then." Hayley commented.
"If you want my opinion, they won't last and if I'm being honest, Caroline deserve someone better than Tyler as her boyfriend."Lola told her.
"Do you wanna know why I like that painting?"Hayley asked Klaus.
"No, he doesn't. I think it's time for you to go instead of flirting with my boyfriend!"Lola snapped.
"We weren't flirting, he's not my type. I'm not into rapists. I admit I used to have a crush on him but it stopped when you told me what he almost did to your friend Vicky." Hayley told her.
"When you're drunk, you flirt with everyone. Boy or girl."Lola pointed out.
"That's not true! Anyway, I'm going." Hayley says, offended.
The werewolf turned around. Klaus then looked at her exposed shoulder before he said "I've seen that mark before."
"Yeah. It's a birthmark. People have those."Hayley told him.
Klaus said "In my considerable lifetime, I've only seen that mark on a handful of others, all from the same bloodline... a werewolf clan that once thrived throughout much of what we now call Louisiana."
"Don't lie to me, not about this."Hayley scowled.
" I wouldn't dare. Matters of family are sacred."Klaus countered back.
"Tell me."The werewolf urged.
After Klaus tell her what he knew, Hayley left.
"So jealous, love." Klaus mocked, looking at Lola.
"You're mine, no one else? As you are, too." Lola told him, walking closer to him.
Klaus brushes his hand against Kiara's cheek before grabbing her to him and she grins. Lola started kissing him and she pulled Klaus shirt over his head. Klaus vamp sped her up onto the table and she tears her own shirt over her head.
Klaus pushes her down flat onto the table, then mounts her and kisses her neck while she gasps and moans underneath him.
Later, in bed, Lola trailed the tattoo on Klaus shoulder. White bedsheets were entangled around them, covering their naked bodies. Her eyes trailed to the hickeys on the hybrid's neck and couldn't but feel satisfied.
"You have your own."Klaus smirked, his eyes on her own hickeys around her neck and collarbone.
"But mine are better."Lola said playfully.
He smiled down at her. Her head laid on top of his chest and her arms on top of his body with their legs intertwined. She sighed with content after pulling the blanket over her body and burying herself around it. Klaus pulled her closer toward him. He loves having her around him. He loves the warmth of her body.
Lola loves the way he brought her closer toward him. She felt loved when he did that. Of course, that's not the only thing he does, but it's one of her favorite actions of his that he does.
They brought each other comfort after everything that has happened in their life.
A/N I hope you'll like this chapter. The book is almost done. And question for the sequel, would it make sense if since Lola or her siblings are not New Orleans witches, that when they use magic, Davina can't tell they are using?
