chapter one.

(o1.) WOLF MOON

Juliet was ready to kill someone. After the third stone hit her window, she was just about ready to call the cops before seeing the two idiot teenage boys standing outside her house.

"What do you want?" Juliet questioned, window now open as she tried to keep it down as much as she could. The last thing she needed was this waking anyone else in the house up.

"Come on! There's a dead body." Stiles smiled, waving his arms around crazily with excitement. Juliets face scrunched up. "What am I supposed to do with that information?"

Stiles groaned, instantly being shushed by Scott. "You're supposed to come down here and join us in finding it!"

"No." Juliet replied, ready to shut her window. Stiles shouted, what he yelled Juliet had no clue but it did it's job and she stopped shutting the window, instead sending the boy a glare.

"You are coming. Now hurry up and let's go!" Stiles replied, tapping his watch-less wrist. Juliet rolled her eyes with a groan, "what if I say no?"

Stiles let out his own groan. "Then we will stand here and throw things at your window until you say yes. Or even better, we'll throw them at someone else's window in your house. So, come on!"

"Fine." Juliet replied, shutting her window. She quickly slipped on her shoes, putting a light sweater on as she did so and headed towards her front door.

Quietly, she opened it, hoping and praying that no one was woken up by any of the noise. When she turned around, Juliet was instantly met with the faces of Stiles and Scott staring back at her.

"Jesus! God— you're both insanely creepy I hope you know that." Juliet sighed, calming her breathing. She locked the door, shoving her keys into her pocket as she turned around. "Okay. Let's go."

Stiles smiled excitedly, enjoying the idea of finding a body far too much. "Okay, we need to hurry. Every officer from the Beacon Hills police department and the state police are already searching for this body."

Scott chuckled a bit, hands deep in his pockets. "Well, searching for the other half." Juliet looked to her friend confused. "Other half?"

He nodded slightly. "Stiles told me that the body was reported but only half was found. They still can't find the other half." Juliets eyes widened as she followed the boys towards Stiles car.

Juliet got into the back of the car, Scott sitting with Stiles in the front. "Well, with that enlightening news, if there is any moment that comes down to you two or me, I'm running the opposite way."

Stiles sent her a look. "Thank you so much for that. Really. Super helpful." The blonde girl rolled her eyes. "Ha-ha."

Scott laughed a bit. "Just both of you seatbelts on now." Juliet smiled a bit, the joke on the tip of her tongue just ready to be voiced. But then Scott sent her a look. "Don't even start."

———————

The three made it to the Beacon Hills Preserve, Stiles parking right in front of the metal chain that was meant to keep people out. The rain was pouring down but that didn't seem to stop the excitement Stiles had.

"Are we seriously doing this?" Scott questioned, still not fully into the idea.

Stiles turned on his flashlight and gave Scott a look. "You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town." He gave his friend a pat on the back and began moving away from Scott and Juliet.

Scott turned to Juliet. "Ready to find a body?" Juliet chuckled a bit. "Nope. You?" Scott shook his head. "Not at all."

Juliet smiled towards her friend. "Let's go find it."

The blonde ran forwards a bit, catching up with Stiles who was impatiently staring at the two.

"I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow." Scott sighed, following after the two. "Right, cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort." Stiles responded, continuing to push forward. Scott shook his head. "No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line."

Juliet nodded to herself. "It's good to set goals for yourself." Stiles nodded in agreement. "Yeah, that's the spirit. Everyone should have a dream. Even a pathetically unrealistic one."

Juliet chuckled a bit at that, Stiles sending her a smile as she did so. Scott rolled his eyes playfully at the two. "Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?"

Stiles stopped for a moment to think before continuing on. "Huh! I didn't even think about that." Juliet hit his arm instantly. "You're such an idiot."

Scott laughed a bit. "And, uh, what if whoever killed the body is still out here?" Juliet have Stiles another look because if he seriously hadn't thought about this either she might turn into a murderer herself.

"Also something I didn't think about." Stiles spoke. Juliet took a deep breath in, trying to suppress the urge to strangle one of her best friends because who doesn't think about these things?

A small hill began to form in front of the group and they all found themselves using their hands to help pull them up. "It's... comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail." Scott spoke, sarcasm laced with every word.

"I know." Stiles responded, turning around and sticking his hand out to help pull Juliet up. She took the assistance, even though her fight or flight instincts where kicking in way more now than before.

"Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?" Scott questioned, leaning against a tree and shaking his inhaler.

But Juliet stopped paying attention to Scott when she was pulled onto the ground. She went to say something before the sight of flashlights caught her attention and her mouth went dry.

Scott flung himself down next to her, watching what Juliet and Stiles where now staring at. Stiles turned his flashlight off and with an excited smile jumped back up, ushering for his friends to follow his lead.

"Stiles!" Scott yelled, taking in the medicine from his inhaler, finding his lungs opening up just enough for relief. Juliet pushed herself up off the ground and began running again hearing Scott yell, "wait up!" from behind her.

"Stiles!" Scott whisper-yelled, trying to get Stiles to stop. Juliet ran behind Stiles, just trying to keep up with the quick boy. "Stiles!" Scott snapped one final time and this time Stiles stopped.

Juliet stopped as soon as she could, almost ramming into Stiles from her movement. But she was able to stop and began looking around for Scott.

And then a light was in her eyes and Stiles was on the ground. "Hold it right there!" Someone screamed and Juliet flinched, turning away from the people who just caught them.

"Hang on, hang on. This little delinquent belongs to me." Sheriff Stilinski spoke, looking at Stiles, who was now standing back up. He gave Juliet a small look. "Juliet."

She waved a bit, awkward smile on her face. "Sheriff." Stiles put his hand over his eyes, trying to block the rain. "Dad, how are you doing?"

"So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?" Stilinski questioned, gaze focused solely on his son. "No, heh. I mean— not the boring ones." Stiles responded.

The Sheriff nodded, looking around. "Now, where's your usual third addition to this group?" Stiles let out a breath. "Who, Scott? Sc-Scott's home. He said he wanted to get a good nights sleep for first day back at school tomorrow. It's just me and Juliet. In the woods. Alone."

Juliets eyes widened at the way Stiles said his last few words and turned away a bit, trying to keep her nerves down. She had always had some weird thing towards him but she never looked into it enough to fully flesh it out.

Sheriff Stilinski, not believing a word his son was saying, began flashing his flashlight around. "Scott, you out there? Scott?" Juliet turned back towards the Sheriff. "He didn't come, promise."

Stilinski let out a sigh, walking closer to his son. "Well, young man, I'm gonna walk you back to your car. Which will then take you and Juliet here back to her house. And after that, you and I are gonna have a conversation about something called invasion of privacy."

Stilinski began walking the two away, holding onto Stiles as he did so. Juliet ignored the need to turn around and spot Scott, knowing that Sheriff Stilinski was being nice already and probably wouldn't appreciate knowing the two kids had lied to his face.

So, silently Juliet followed behind as Stilinski continued to drag Stiles as Stiles gave directions towards where his car was. When they got to the car, Stilinski opened the drivers side door wide open for his son, waiting until Stiles was in to shut it behind him.

Juliet took her place in the passengers seat and avoided Stilinskis gaze as he instructed Stiles to take Juliet home.

The car ride was silent for most of the way, both teens minds filled with wondering if Scott would be okay. Until Juliet just had to voice the other thing on her mind. "Do you think he's going to call my parents? Because they're already pissed at me and I really don't need—"

"Juliet." Stiles cut off, sending her a small look. "He won't, okay? I'll talk to him." The blonde nodded. "Okay. Thanks."

"No problem." Stiles responded, watching Juliet look out the window through his peripheral vision.

More silence followed the two as Stiles drove and Juliet watched the world around them until this time it was Stiles who broke the silence. "We're here."

Juliet exhaled through her nose, unbuckling. "Thanks. I'll see you tomorrow?" Stiles nodded. "Yeah, I'll see you."

Juliet opened the car door and hopped out, shutting the door. But she paused when Stiles called out for her to wait. Juliet gave him a confused look as he tapped on his steering wheel anxiously. "Want me to walk you to your door?"

A small chuckle escaped her lips as she shook her head. "I'm okay, thanks though. As long as no one is awake I'll be totally fine." Stiles nodded. "Okay, goodnight."

"Night." Juliet responded, shutting the car door and carefully jogging back to her front door. She pulled out her keys, opening the door as quietly as she could and shutting it the same way.

Juliet leaned against the door with a sigh, happy that she had made it back without being caught.

Well, until she was faced to face with Gwen who was staring at her confused with a glass of water in her hand.

"Juliet? What are you doing?" Gwen questioned, rubbing her eyes a bit as she took everything in. It was obvious Juliet had been outside. With her drenched hair, muddy shoes, and clothes far different than her pajamas, anyone could tell she had just gotten back in.

Juliet just cursed her luck that it had to be Gwen. "I am... uh..." Gwen watched her twin sister with an unamused look. "You know what? Never-mind. I'm just gonna go back to bed."

Gwen turned on her heel, about to walk back upstairs. Juliet sighed. "Gwen." Her sister turned around slightly, looking at Juliet with a hard gaze. "Please don't tell mom and dad."

Gwen bit her lip, thinking. And for Juliet, it felt like they'd stay at that stand still forever. But then Gwen nodded her head. "Okay." She turned around again, walking back up the stairs.

"Thank you." Juliet called out. This time Gwen didn't turn back around. She just silently nodded her head and kept walking.

A sigh escaped past Juliets lips and her hands found their way into her hair, pushing through it as she calmed her breathing. Gwen wouldn't tell and that meant that things where getting back to normal. Maybe.

Yeah. Maybe.

authors note!
hello! I hope you enjoyed chapter one and are as excited for this book as I am!

there's a little bit of a mystery tied around that last little bit that I'm very excited to explore!

gonna let you know now that these books will be more focused on developing my ocs and less on the romance. the romance is gonna be a big part but I always wish I'd develop my characters more so that's what I'm gonna do.

anyways I don't know what else to say so next chapter will hopefully be out soon! school kicks my ass and all I want is to not deal with it.

a final thing would just be trigger warnings for this story because I forgot about them! oops.
- cursing (more than in the show)
- talks of depression and other mental illnesses
- there will be some derealization

and I will add to that as I remember things!
