CHAPTER 2

Welcome back to Sin Eater in this book there are no stereotypes :) even though I have never met a homosexual person I portray them as realistically as possible. Anyway one term that needs explaining and that is

Inugami/ Shikigami-resembles or originates from dogs and carries out vengeance/ protects. A shikigami is like a grim reaper but unlike a grim reaper there is many of them  and only one grim reaper.

Okay done. Please remember to READ, VOTE, and COMMENT. Your opinions mean a lot to me so speak them guys. XOXO BUTTERBALL

The news channel was on and the Anchorwoman was reporting about a few murders that had happened down town. I frowned, "The death toll is rising but the number of Cancorans isn't going down," I mumbled.

Dante turned his attention to the TV. After a few moments of watching he let out a sigh. "It's like none of us Guardian Masters and Guardian Servants are making a dent in their numbers," he grumbled.

I leaped down out of his lap, "Well, the infection spreads through them scratching their victims all they have to do is claw a few people when we take some of them down. It's almost an endless loop," I sighed as I walked into the kitchen in search of some fruit. I  jumped onto the kitchen table.

"Hey, Dante do you want anything while I'm in here?" I asked him as I pawed through the fruit bowl on the kitchen table.

"No," Dante told me. I continued to paw through the fruit bowl until I found a peach. I picked it up with my mouth then leaped off the table. I sat on the floor as I ate the peach, I had to keep rolling it back to me as I ate.

After eating I walked into the living room but Dante wasn't in there.

He's probably in bed.

I changed back into my human form. I shook my body trying to remove the tingling feeling from my skin. Then I headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

After the shower I changed into some sweatpants and went into the bedroom. Dante was already asleep in the bed I smiled slightly before I climbed silently into the bed next to him. I gave him a soft goodnight kiss and grabbed hold of his hand. Soon I was asleep.

However I woke up in the middle of the night with a distinct...craving for something very specific. I sat up mumbling curses under my breath praying that the craving would go away. But my hopes were in vain. I let out a sigh and climbed out of bed.

"Christopher, what's wrong?" Dante asked me slowly as he woke up due to all the noise I was making. I let out a heavy sigh then looked back at him.

"I have to go hunting. I'm hungry," I grumbled. Dante immediately sat up. Bakeneko's from time to time needed to feed on the meat of women to live. If a Bakeneko didn't sedate the hunger when it hit and the Bakeneko let it build up then they would lose control and go on a rampage.

So even though I hated doing it, it had to be done.  I went to the dresser and got a random shirt out, "I'll be back soon, Dante so don't wait up for me,"I told him as I pulled it on. Dante climbed out of bed frowning.

"Screw that, I'm waiting for you," he protested. I sighed as I grabbed my jacket off the floor.

"Don't you have classes tomorrow?" I asked as I head for the bedroom door.

"Nope. I'm done until Sunday afternoon," he said following me. I let out a groan of frustration. This was one thing that I knew Dante was adamant about and it was kind of annoying. But no matter how much I told him or yelled at him not to stay up waiting for me he either ignored me or did it anyway.

"Okay whatever," I muttered as I finally gave up. Dante followed me into the living room and sat down on the couch. I grabbed one of the many blank sheets of paper that we kept beside the TV.

"Promise me you'll be careful, Christopher,"  Dante said. I bit the tip of my finger hard with my sharp teeth until I drew blood. Then I drew a pentacle on the paper before the wound could heal. When a person draws a pentacle on something in their own blood only that person can remove it.

I rolled my eyes, "Fine, fine I'll be careful stop worrying. It's not like I'm a kitten anymore," I mumbled. I was very careful not to damage or wrinkle the paper. If the pentacle had even the slightest scratch, or smear in one of it's lines then it wouldn't keep the supernatural creatures away like it was suppose to.

Once I was outside, I locked the front door then I stuck the pentacle up to the door, by now the blood had dried on the paper. The paper stuck to the door, the pentacle glowing a bright red for a moment before it stopped.

I felt my eyes itch slightly like something had gotten in them, it was irritating and slightly annoying but I knew that it was just my eye color changing from dark brown, to the eye color that belonged to the demon half of me.

I rubbed my now fiery orange eyes once with the back of my left hand as the pupils turned to slits. I blinked once to make sure that my vision was adjusted to the darkness. My small fangs had lengthened slightly and now I could feel them scraping my bottom lip. I smirked at my brief transformation then I spirited myself away to the city.

I landed in an alleyway between two apartment buildings. If a human looked at me they would think I was some stupid goth kid pretending to be one of those ridiculous vampires they made popular on TV in this day and age.

I snickered to myself at the thought as I walked down the sidewalk but looked up as a teenage girl passed me talking rapidly on her cellphone to what I assume was one of her friends. I caught a bit of the girl's scent as she passed.

Her scent nearly killed my delicate nose. She smelled like too much perfume, like she took a fucking bath in it or something. My nose burned and I let out a small cough as the scent gathered at the back of my throat. I quickly walked away.

I kept walking until I came to a goth club that was my usual hunting ground. This club was basically a gathering place for humans who loved vampires. I smiled to myself, if humans saw how vampires really looked they'd think twice about showing the beast on TV and making romance novels and movies about them.

I looked up at the black and red neon sigh that advertised the name of the club to nearby people. The Midnight Ribbon. Someone suddenly bumped into me and I instantly looked away from the sign to look at the goth girl who stood in front of me. My movements were too fast for the human eye so I  slowed them down considerably.

The girl in front of me looked at me in wide eyed amazement. I knew what she had seen, my pupils turning red or green in my orange iris before I looked at her. The girl looked me up and down. I sniffed the air slightly and the smell of cinnamon filled my nose. I smiled slightly. She'll definitely taste good. I thought as I looked her up and down.

The girl blushed, "You-you're cute," She whispered. I grinned at her showing off my fangs.

"Thank you," I told her. The girl was practically drooling as she stared at me. Humans glamorizing vampires in their media had it's advantages sometimes.

The girl cleared her throat slightly,"I'm, Emily," She told me. I took her hand in mine and kissed the back of it.

"My name is, Christopher," I told her and Emily looked like she was going to faint. I looked away when I saw a street light start flickering. I focused sending out my demonic energy like invisible tentacles across the pavement.

The shadows seemed to stretch and reach toward me, like they were drawn to my demonic energy. I stopped and withdrew my demonic energy, sending out something like a personal frequency that belonged to me and me alone.

I felt my energy coat my body and sink into my skin leaving a slight cold  tingling feeling.

I don't sense any other supernatural presence nearby.

I looked at Emily out of the corner of my eye.

She was staring at my eyes in awe,"Do you think we can go somewhere private? The lights around here are really irritating my eyes," I asked her. She nodded.

"Yeah, sure," She whispered. I held out my hand.

"Here give me your hand," I told her gently. She stared at me blushing before she placed her hand in mine. I spirited us away and even though I was hungry I felt sorry for the girl. I took her out in the woods, near the country outside of town near the city.

I couldn't take her to a graveyard or anything, because I might accidently walk over a grave and when I was focused on something else I had no control on whether I raised a vampire or a zombie.

At least if I happened to wander across a small dead animal, Emily wouldn't notice if it came back to life as a zombie. Emily looked around then turned to me staring. I just smiled at her. She began to walk over to me while she stared at my teeth, mainly my canines.

I felt my stomach growl however I kept my smile on my face as she came closer, within my reach. Then I swiftly reached out and wrapped one hand around her neck. As she opened her mouth to scream I clamped my other hand over her mouth muffling her scream.

Her eyes were wide and they darted back and forth looking for any means of escape. She was trembling with fear. I frowned. "I'm so sorry. I promise that I'll make it quick," I whispered.

At that moment she stopped struggling because she knew that she was going to die. She knew that she couldn't get away from me. Emily began crying and as she did her makeup began to get ruined. I looked away from her, then I closed my eyes and crushed her throat just by closing my fist a little too tightly.

When I was hunting I was always thankful for my strength, I didn't want these women to suffer. I gently laid Emily down. Her face was streaked with lines of black from when she had begun crying and it had ruined her eyeliner.

I sighed and began eating. When I was done I was streaked head to toe with blood and gore. I stood up licking some of the muscle tissue from the corner of my mouth. I looked down at the long dead, partially eaten body of Emily.

If I could, I would have buried her body but I couldn't risk wandering over her body and raising it from the dead. I stared at her frowning. She had a family probably siblings, a loving father and mother and now I had not only taken her life away from her, but I had also taken away someone's daughter and sister.

"I'm sorry," I whispered. I knew her soul would be at peace, very soon. I could feel a near by demonic energy so I knew a Inugami in grim reaper form would be here to collect her soul any minute now. I spirited myself away, appearing right at my front door.

I reached up and tore the pentacle on the sheet of paper off the door with a sigh. Due to it being a holy symbol it still burned my palm a little. I crumbled the paper up into a ball then threw it over my shoulder before it literally burned a hole in my hand. Then I opened the front door.

Dante was of course still up waiting for me. He was sitting on the couch watching  TV. I glanced at the clock after I locked the door. It was really late almost two in the morning. Dante looked up at me. "Is any of that your blood?"  He asked me.

"No," I told him as I headed to the bathroom to take another shower. Dante always asked that question when I came home from a hunt. I was showering while staring at the water. I watched it as it changed from red to light pink and finally cleared up. I got out once I was clean and changed into a t-shirt and sweatpants.

I timidly walked back into the living room. "Dante, I'm going back to bed," I told him. Dante looked away from the TV to look at me. His face turned red as he blushed but he didn't say anything.

"I'm going to bed do you mind if I sleep in yours?" I asked him. Dante looked away from me.

"Yeah sure, I don't mind," he mumbled. I nodded then walked over to him and bent down then I lean forward and kissed him. Dante jumped slightly in shock before he reached up and tangled his fingers in my hair. I nipped his bottom lip once then drew back smiling.

"Thanks for staying up waiting for me. Goodnight," I told him softly. Dante smiled back at me.

"Goodnight," he replied.
