Chapter 17: Tomb Opening Is Tonight Everybody! Round Of Applause!

I started to come to with a raging burning sensation in my throat. I gulped and rubbed my neck. I opened my eyes and looked forward to see a vampire, asleep on a chair. I hear a gasp beside me and see Elena on a bed. That's when I noticed I am on the floor with just a blanket under me. I slowly get up and motion for Elena to follow. She slowly got up and walked over the guy's leg and walked to the door. I had more of an obstacle though. Guess what that would be? Yup, he was right in front of me. I couldn't move any where without waking him, except up.

I took a deep breath and bent down a bit and jumped as I high as I could. I managed t jump over him and land next to Elena without a sound. She started to unlock the door, first the chain. When she finished with that one she looked to the guy again. I rolled m eyes in annoyance. She unlocked the second when we heard, "I wouldn't." We turn to see the vampire in front of us. I stand in front of Elena but he grabs me and flings me across the room. He looks in Elena's eyes, trying to compel her. "Don't try to escape, don't even move. Do you understand?"he asked. "I understand."she says playing along. She looks at me and I motion for her to leave.

When he isn't looking, Elena quickly opened the door but Anna was coming in and she stopped her. "Seriously?"she asked the guy. "I told her not to move, I did that eye thing you taught me."he defends. "You forgot to listen about vervain, they date vampires Ben, duh!"she tells 'Ben' while grabbing me. She takes us to the bathroom. "Who are you? What do you want?"Elena asks. "Doesn't matter." Anna mutters, locking us in there. I try to open it but it was no use. I turn on the lights and look around. That's when I see something I defiantly didn't ever want to see.

"Bonnie?"

DAMON'S POV

"Anna took Elena." Stefan states coming into the room. I was looking through the grimiore and waiting for Mid to get here. I texted her a while ago, where is she? "Ya, I got that from your 600 voice-mails."I say sarcastically. "Damon, all night long, every single street in town, I've been searching. What if your blood hasn't passed out of her system?" he asks me. "Well at least you'll know you'll see her again."I say not really caring if the look alike lives. Speaking of, where the hell is Mid? I check my phone as Stefan keeps talking.

"Please. tell me what you know. You were with Anna, you must know something. Just tell me where I can find her."he begs me. I put my phone down and look at him. "Nope, you can go."I say standing up. "Did I mention they could possibly have Mid?"he says. I turn to look at him. "That's a low blow brother."I say glaring at him. "Please, it's Elena, Damon."he begs. "I mean sincerely. I hope Elena... dies."I say. "I'll find Mid."I add walking out the room.

MID'S POV

I grab a towel and start to wet it and rush back to Bonnie. I dab it on her forehead and she starts to come to. "Mid?"she says wearily. I nod. "Oh my god, Ben is a-" I shush her. "They can here."I mouth and turn on the sink, hoping to drown out the sound. "I was so stupid!"she says. "Ya, really stupid."I say smirking, trying to lighten up the mood. She laughs lightly. "No, he had us all fooled." Elena says glaring at me. "What's going on? Where are we?" Bonnie asks. "At Anna's, she wants a witch for the tomb."I tell her. Just then the door opens to reveal Ben.

I stood up and stood in front of them. He turned off the sink and glared at me. "You're wasting your time, I won't help you."Bonnie tells him. "I know."he says and grabs me and Elena. "That's little Elena's here for. Mid so she won't sniff you two out. She wants to talk."he says and throw us out. He closes the door behind him and I glare at the door. "Well well..."I turn to glare at Anna. I pull Elena behind me. "Elena Gilbert, you really are Katherine's doppelganger. Mid is closer to her's though."she says. "You two must have the Salvatore boys reeling."Anna says smirking.

"Who are you?"Elena asked. "I'm Anna, your brother may mentioned me. I mean we practically dating."she says smirking. "Bonnie is not gonna open the tomb."I tell her. "Oh I think she will."she says. "Do you really want Katherine and Nataline out that bad?"Elena asks. "Trust me, no one I know wants them out again. Except Damon, the love struck idiot."she mutters. That one hurt, but I didn't show. "Then who is it?"Elena asks. "My mother is in there."she says. "I'm sorry."Elena says. "You mean that, don't you?" Anna asks. Elena nods. I roll my eyes.

"Ok, I think we'll skip the dead mom bonding so you can start serving your purpose."she tells my twin. "Which is what?"I ask. "Leverage."she says ans takes out a syringe similar she used on me before. She jabbed it in my neck and I blacked out again. Damn.

I started to come to and saw Ben taking Bonnie out of the bathroom. Anna saw me and smirked. "Wow, your tolerance to this stuff is getting stronger."she says. "Button them down, remember compulsion won't work, just use violence. And use Aconite for the silver eyed twin." she tells him then leaves. What the hell is Aconite?

"They started talking but it was all fuzzy, until he caught on fire. They ran but Ben grabbed me and they stopped. "Come back in, shut the door!"he growled at them. "Don't hurt her!"Bonnie says. "Don't make me!"he says. I head but him and push them out, closing and locking the door. I turn to Ben and smirk. "Lost your witch."I say laughing. He grabs me and his face changes. "But I got lunch."he says and bites into me.

ELENA'S POV

Mid pushed us out and locked the door. "NO!"I yell trying to get in but Bonnie holds me back. "No Bonnie we got to go back! We got to get her!"I say struggling in her grip. "Let's go get help! That's how we'll get her back! We'll get her back Lena."she soothes. I started to cry. I can't lose my older sister, I betrayed her and she still helped me. I can't lose her.

DAMON'S POV

I had to meet Anna in town square to talk because she had Mid and Elena and Bonnie. I didn't care about the last two but Mid... I can't let die. "Got a hot date, or are you just planning in nabbing the entire Gilbert family?"I ask sitting beside her. "A party, right next to the old cemetery. Isn't that nice of them? Lots of warm bodies for starving vampires."she says smiling. "Mid told you, we don't work in threes."I told her. "Well I work alone, but you're minus the witch and I'm minus the spell book. So what do you say?"she asks.

"Stefan will come after you, you know that? For messing with Elena."I tell her. She smirks. "What about Mid?"she asks me. I frown. "Well, I don't think either of you will be happy when I kill them, when I don't get what I want."she says standing up and walking away. I stopped her without hesitation. I mean, it's Mid. "When do you want to do this?"I ask. She chuckles turning around. "God, it's like 1864 all over again. You Salvatores are truly pathetic when it comes to women."she says laughing. Oh, she has no idea.

"Tonight. After sundown. Meet me at the church."she says and walks away. Well fan-fuckin'-tastic.

MID'S POV

I was laying on the bed, nearly dead from blood loss. He bit into my neck and left me for dead, he is so lucky I haven't found a way to kill him yet. "Witches don't have eternal life, so they can die, right?" he asks. I nod. He laughs. "I got ya good, didn't I?"he asks. I growl at him, making him back up a bit. Suddenly Stefan busts threw the door, making the vampire scream in pain and hide behind the bed beside me. He opened the curtains letting more sun in. He picked me up bridal style and glared at the hiding vampire. "When the sun goes down, leave town. If I ever see you again, I will kill you."he threatens and goes out the door with me in his arms.

We get to the car and he lays me in the back. He bites into his wrist and feeds me his blood. I drink the sweet salty substance and I instantly feel better. Man, I like a fast food meal being saved for later. He closes the door and gets in the drivers seat. "What were you thinking Mid? He could have killed you!"he yelled at me. I roll my eyes. "Great to see you too Stef."I say sarcastically. "Why did you help Elena and Bonnie to escape but didn't go too?"he asks looking back at me. I look up at him. "Elena is my little sister, I have to protect her and anyone I care about. And I knew he would call Anna if we all left, so I stayed so he'd be distracted by not letting me leave."I tell him then look out the window.

He sighs as we drive up to Grams's house. Stefan helped me out of the car and into the house. We walked threw the door and I saw Bonnie and Elena on the couches in front of me looking away. I looked at Stefan and smirked. I slowly walked behind them but Stefan being the asshole he is yelled, "SHE'S HERE!" I glared at him while he smirked. They all look at me and rush to hug me. Bonnie pulled away but Elena was still hugging me and crying. I hugged her tighter, some tears falling too. "Don't ever do something like that again. I was so scared."she sobbed in my chest.

I kissed her head and rubbed her back. "I'm ok, I'm ok. I'm not going anywhere."I tell her. "Promise me, you won't do something like that again."she says pulling away. I wipe the tears from her eyes and smile sadly. "I can't promise something I won't keep."I tell her. She laughs a little and we head to the kitchen with Grams. She came up to me and hugged me. "That was very brave of you Midnight. Still think you're the bad guy?"she jokes. I pull away and nudge her lightly, while smiling. We sat down when Elena spoke up. "So what do we do now?"she asks.

"For now, you need to stay here." he tells Sheila. I laugh a bit. "You should know Stefan that they don't need to."I tell him. Sheila nods. "She's right, we'll protect ourselves."she tells him. "We need to give him Katherine and Nataline."I suddenly say. "I know he won't stop until he gets them."I tell them. Elena nods. "If we help him, maybe that ends it." Elena adds. "No! He doesn't deserve to get what he wants." Bonnie objects. I glare at her. "Everyone deserves to be happy Bonnie."I say She glares at me. "Why? Just because you have a school girl crush on him? New flash Mid! He doesn't care about you, he's using you!"she yells at me.

"Bonnie!"Elena scolds her. I get up and walk into the other room. I kept taking deep breaths trying to calm down. After about 15 minutes, I didn't want to rip Bonnie's neck out with my teeth. Sheila came in and sat by me. "You alright darling?"she asks. I sigh but nod. "Ya, it's just... I know she might be right, but.... he acts different with me. Not like he treats anybody else. And that's the part of him, I fell for."I say looking down. She rubs my back. "I know dear, but if you have feelings for him, why help him?"she asks. I look up at her. "Because if you love someone, you want them to be happy, even if you're not."I tell her.

"And do you love him?"she asks. Yes. "It's complicated."I say looking at my hands. "We're going to help him, but we need you to convince him."she tells me. I nod. "Thanks Sheila."I say smiling at her. She smiles but then frowns. "There is one thing you need to know though."she tells me. I nod. "You know how you do things you can't explain? That may seem weird?"she asks. My eyes widen. "Do you know what I am?"I ask. She shakes her head. "No, but I do know that we need to channel you in order to open it."she says. I nod slowly understanding. "Still want do it?"she asks. I look at her.

I walked into the parlor to see Damon putting on his jacket. His back was facing me. "Gonna have to change the locks. Did Stefan get Mid?"he asks. I smirk. He thinks I'm Elena. "No, she-she... she's d-dead Damon."I say in my best Elena- sad voice. He turns around quickly then sees me and takes a breath of relief. He rushes over and pulls me into a hug. "I will get you back for that."he mumbles in my hair. I pulled away and looked up at him. "I convinced Bonnie and Sheila to help you."I tell him.

"Doubt that. They hate my guts."he tells me. I sigh. "I'm not going to say they're sorry for finding the spell book before us because they aren't."I tell him. "At least you're honest."he comments. "They were protecting the people they love Damon. So were you, in your own twisted way."I say smirking, so he knew I was joking. Kind of. "And at the end of the yellow brick rode, we're all on the same side after the same thing."I tell him. "Not interested."he says. "Yes you are, because you were willing to work with them yesterday."I say when he walks away.

"Fool me once, shame on them."he whispers. "Look, Damon. Do you trust me?"I ask. He comes closer to me. "More than anyone."he says, his face only inches away. I nod. "Then trust me on this. You and I... we have something. An understanding. A friendship. But, if you don't believe me..."I trail off taking off my necklace and show it to him. "Ask me if I'm lying now."I finish and put it on the table beside us. He sighed and picked up my necklace. He walked closer and put it on me then cupped my face in his hands. "I believe you, I'm trusting you. They better not fool me."he says. I nod. "They won't, I promise we'll get you in that tomb."I say.

Eventually, night came and we went to the woods and saw a party going on. Shit! The Duke party. "Oh well, too bad so sad if they die."I say sarcastically. Damon chuckles a bit. "I knew there was a reason you were my best friend." We made our way past and walked further into the woods. I decided to say what was on my mind. "So, when you get them back, what will you do then?"I ask. He shrugs. "Leave this town, maybe go to Miami."he says. I stop walking. "You're still leaving?"I ask, making him stop walking and look at me. "That was the plan originally."he says.

I sigh and start walking again. "Are you happy I'm leaving?"he asked. I stop and look at him. "Not everybody hates you Damon. So, no. I won't, I'll miss my sarcastic best-friend."I say smiling at him. He smiles walking up to me. He hugs me tightly. "I'll miss you too. I'd ask you to come with us but... I know you wouldn't leave family." he says. I pull away and smile up at him. We get caught in a stare that makes me forget everything that's happening. He starts to lean in, and I know what he's going to do. But I don't want mixed signals.

I turn away so he just kisses my cheek. I pull away, still not looking at him. "We should keep going. We're almost there."I say and start to walk again. I hear him sigh but follow. We eventually get there and see the Bennets, the Salvatore and my twin Gilbert. "Brother, witches, Elena."Damon says as we walk up. I roll my eyes and walk with him. I walked with him down there but almost tripped on a step. But my instincts kicked in and I ended up flipping, and landing on the last step. I stood up, looking around to see if anyone saw that. No one. Good. I went into the tomb and saw Damon there.

"Are you excited?"I ask looking at the door with him. "Why should I be?"he asks. I almost laughed. "Well you are going to get the loves of your life in less than an hour, I'd be excited if I were you."I say. He is about to respond but everybody comes in. They light torches and sprinkle water on it. Sheila looks at me and I nod. I walk up to her and give her my father's necklace so she can channel me. She smiles at me and then I stand by Elena. Damon takes out a bloodbag and Stefan asks, "What's that?" Damon smirks. "It's for the girls. Unless Elena is willing to tap a vein."he says. I hold out my wrist. "I'll do it, that blood bag won't be enough."I say.

"No!"yelled everybody. I put my wrist down. "Ok."I mutter. "We're ready." Bonnie says. They start to chant in some language. I started to feel like a pinching pain where my necklace was, but I ignored it knowing it was the channeling. "What are they saying?"Damon asks. "Sounds Latin."Stefan says. "I don't think it's Latin."Elena adds. I roll my eyes. "It's Aztec."I say. They all look at me, I shrug. "What?"I say. They were going to say something but the door started to open. Damon turns to Stefan. "Got some fires to build?" Stefan nods and him and Elena leave the tomb. Damon look at me.

"You ready?"he asked. I nod knowing what he meant. "No Mid, you're not going in there!"Bonnie yells. I shake my head. "I need to, I don't trust you won't seal Damon in there if he goes alone."I say grabbing a torch and handing it to Damon. "Let's go."I say and we walk in. We walked in when I heard some kind of whispering. "Let me guess, hungry Draculas sensing their prey."I ask Damon sarcastically. He nods. "Yup."he says. "Great."I mutter. "Do you always do that?"he asks. I look at him. "Do what?"I ask. "Use sarcasm to cover your fear?"he asked. I scoff.

"I don't use sarcasm to my fear. I don't get scared."I tell him. "MID!" I hear my twin yell. I groan. "That girl I swear..."I say and try to make my way to her but Damon stops me. "Damon let go."I say. "No, I can't have you hurt."he says. I shake my head. "I can't have my little sister hurt."I say and get out of his grip, running to my sister's side. "Are you insane?"I ask. She looked terrified, she then fainted but I caught her in my arms. I sigh. "I guess you are."I mutter. I turn to leave but Anna is there in front of me. Great.

"You must have a taste for it. You scream and shriek and even bother to escape, but you just keep coming back here."she tells me. I bum into someone and Anna points the flashlight at them. "Mother!"she says going to her side. She turns to glare at me. "You're best-friends did this you know."she tells me. "Their father did."I defend. "And Johnathan Gilbert. Made a choice a long time ago that it will be Gilbert blood that brought her back. I had Jeremy ready to go, but..."she trails off. I turn to leave but she grabs me, making me drop Elena and scream.

She bites into my wrist and puts it to her mothers mouth. I try to move but I couldn't. What do I do?

THIRD PERSON'S POV

Mid's eyes glowed silver as she pulls from Anna's grip. She grabs Anna by her neck and throws her into a wall. She picks up Elena up and runs to the door. Stefan is about to run but when he sees Mid he takes Elena from her arms. "What happened?"he asked. Mid's eyes went back to normal as she laughs. "She just fainted from fright."she says and tries to walk out but something stopped her. She tried again but the invisible doorway from the tomb stopped her.

"What is it?"she asks Sheila. Sheila sighed looking at the young girl. "We'll get you out. We'll break the seal."she tells me. Mid finally realizes what she means and gets angry. "You mean you let Damon go in there without telling me he couldn't get out?"she yelled at them, making Bonnie flinch. "Mid-"she tried to explain but Mid cut her off. "I'm going to go back in there and get Damon. Do the spell, now!"she yelled at them and ran in.

Sheila sighed and started the spell, knowing full well it'll either kill her, or Mid.

MID'S POV

I started to walk to see where Damon is when I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I doubled over and gripped the wall to steady myself. Great, the channeling hurts now. I better find Damon. I walked in further and saw Damon talking to himself. "They're not here. They never were in here. Why aren't they in here? I saw them take them in here!"he yelled throwing the blood bag at the wall. "Damon!"I shout. He looked at me with tears in his eyes. "They're not worth it! If we don't get out now we won't be able to at all. Please Damon!"I yell at him.

He looks at me and nods. He walks and take me with him when I feel the pain again. I fall on my knees screaming. "Mid! What's happening?"he asks over my screams. "Get us out of here... Now!"I yell. He picks me up bridal style and vamp speeds out of there. We get out and the door slams behind us. The pain soon leaves my body as I lean on the wall. Sheila comes up and gives me my necklace. I smile at her then turn to Elena and Stefan. "Jeremy is up there, go check on him."I tell them breathless. They nod and run up the steps. I sigh and walk up there too. I see Damon standing there with his broken heart.

I walk up to him and look at him. I hug him tightly, but he doesn't hug back. I stay there, not letting go. Elena and Stefan pick Jeremy up and leave. When they are out of sight, Damon hugs me and sobs in my shoulder. I rub his back, silently crying at the sight. I never wanted Damon to be heart broken, I wanted him to be happy. Well, I promise, when I see those two bitches, I'll make sure they're dead. And I'll pick up the pieces of Damon's broken heart. Even if it's the last thing I do.
