Chapter 9: Urgent needs
Jungkook sat calmly in the back seat of Jimin's red car, holding his camera and backpack close. They were going off to see where someone was just discovered dead and this alone gave Jimin anxiety the whole time. How long was it until someone else was discovered dead right after? Jimin gripped onto the steering wheel as he followed the address that was sent to him by Officer Riyu. He felt the stress come over him as he drove closer and closer to the site. Knowing he had too many cases now and they were all falling in the same time.
"Fuck, we have four cases now... What in the world is up with these killers? Ugh, I need to split it and let other officers take over the jewelry theft." Jimin growled in frustration as Jungkook laid back against the car seat and made another smile right across his bright face by just hearing Jimin's voice after a long car ride of silence. "I think after work I'll get myself a drink and get home to investigate on this more." Jimin told himself while Jungkook tilted his head and looked at Jimin. Wanting to get his attention and probably tag along, but he knew better not to distract Jimin since he was driving. So, the boy kept the thought in his head to mention it to Jungkook.
As they reached a stoplight, Jungkook then started to cup his own face and this was brought to Jimin's attention that the boy looked bothered. "What's the matter, Detective?" Jimin asked and looked back to see Jungkook gently pat his stomach to show he was hungry and Jimin was able to catch it. "Detective, why couldn't you eat before you came to work? Can you wait until our break? We're close to the crime scene... You weren't like this before..." Jimin added as he looked forward and continued to drive when Jungkook took out his wallet and slammed it down in between the passenger's seat and the driver's seat. Demanding to be taken to eat somewhere.
"FUC- Jungkook! Take it easy. We'll go after we investigate the crime scene. Hold on until then. Surely you ate something before you got to bed?" Jimin wondered and looked up at the mirror to see the younger shake his head and lift up one finger. Just to show he had only one thing to eat. This alone made the older's eyes widen. "Was it a snack? Ah, Jungkook! Why couldn't you eat something else? Ugh, you're a handful, Detective Jeon." Jimin sighed and looked up ahead to see the police cars and police tape surrounding a house like there was a break in. "Hang in tight, we'll just take a look." Jimin said as he parked along the driveway of the small house where a lady was close to fainting from her tears on a porch surrounded by the police officers and paramedics.
They were trying to give her space and try to calm her down after what she just witnessed while Jimin finally stepped out of the car. But, Jungkook was forced to tag along even if his hunger suddenly hit him like a truck. The boy followed Jimin to the crime scene as his backpack hugged his back and his camera hung from his neck. Jungkook felt a little weak from not eating and this alone made him feel like he was out of breath.
Jimin walked passed the porch while the Officers only glanced their way and looked away to allow them into the scene. Just then, Jimin slowly came to a stop to look around the dull house that only had shattered glass all around and marks of blood like a body was dragged. Suddenly, Jungkook bumped his body against the older's back. Not realizing that Jimin came to a stop. "Hey! Watch it, Detective!" Jimin hissed out of fright. "You scared me.." Jimin said as he took a good look at the boy once more. "Jeon, keep it together, we'll be out of here soon. Then, I'll take you out to-" Just then, Jungkook nodded his head and closed his eyes as he dropped forward onto the Chief and called the Officer's attention.
"Chief, is Detective Jeon alright?" Asked one of the Officers while Jimin held the younger who was leaning his body over to the man. Causing the older to growl and look down at the boy.
"He's alright. Just hungry. Tell Officer Riyu I'll be back soon. Hold the crime scene open for me." Jimin added. The officers knew this was very unprofessional for Jimin and the man could have dropped Jungkook off at a diner. But, the boy was the detective and everyone knew he was essential to the investigation.
Jimin left the crime scene in a hurry as he was quick to hold the boy up by his side while Jungkook opened his eyes slightly and let out a slight groan that Jimin was able to hear. "Yeah, yeah I hear you. You made us walk out of the crime scene too soon!" Jimin scolded the boy as he opened the back seats of the car. "You're a pain." Jimin continued and Jungkook understood how upset the man was. Jungkook just ruined his chance because he didn't eat a thing in the morning and couldn't wait until after. Jimin helped the boy into the car and closed the door while Jungkook laid there in a pout while he looked up to the driver's seat to see Jimin climb in and sit. Letting out an exhale from how tense he was growing.
Jungkook then sat up as he moved his wallet against Jimin's elbow to show he was willing to pay for the meal to show how sorry he was, but Jimin just moved his arm back and refused to take it as he started to drive. "Don't worry about paying for it..." Jimin told the boy and looked back so he could pull out of the driveway. Catching a glimpse of the boy, laying against the seat in silence as he kept a pout and silently started to cry from how bad he felt after.
'I'm sorry, Jimin...' The boy mouthed his words while Jimin faced forward and drove off from the crime scene. Jimin was desperate to find a nearby diner for take out so they could eat in the car. Jungkook thought of eating outside in the diner to order and sit in the calm atmosphere, but Jimin chose to sit inside his car to eat. He was still very insecure about going out in the open, especially when a killer was on the loose.
Once Jimin pulled up by a fast food place, he looked back at the boy and gazed at Jungkook. "I'll be right back. I'll order the food and I'll bring it here." Jimin told the younger. Trying to hide the fact that he was still upset with the boy. Jungkook then shook his head and pointed to the fast food restaurant, wanting to go inside to eat but this made Jimin tilt his head. "Jungkook, there is a killer on the loose. We are only coming here to eat, then head back to the crime scene as fast as we can." Jimin told the boy as Jungkook sighed and sat back on the seat. "We could have sat inside until after the investigation, but you chose to not eat this morning." Jimin continued and finally stepped out of the car to order the food and come back to the boy.
Once Jungkook watched Jimin walk into the diner, Jungkook watched sadly while his stomach rumbled. He wanted to follow but he was scared he would get the older even more angry at him than he already was. Just thinking of what to do left the younger to sigh and press his forehead against the glass window of the car. Desperately waiting for the man to get back.
Jimin was then standing in line to order as he ran through the things he longed to get for Jungkook and himself as he waited there silently. Just then, Jungkook came in to the fast food place and sent the man a message.
Jimin then took his phone out from his pocket to check and as soon as he read the messages, he quickly looked around and caught the boy standing by the entrance with a smile on his face and waving at the older. The Chief tried to find it in him not to shout at the boy for disobeying his orders... But how could he when the boy was still holding that cute smile on his face like nothing?
The older could see the way Jungkook smiled after getting that text message as he walked over to sit at a table and wait for the man to order. Jimin was feeling nervous just sitting here out and in the open when there was a killer out there, running around and killing others or maybe even a gang too! All of these scary things pushed Jimin to grow scared of his own hometown. This alone made him wonder, did Jungkook feel a little scared of the killers running around and killing others? It would happen so late at night, Jimin feared having Jungkook just walk home! That wasn't safe at all now that it comes to mind.
Jimin set his order and started to wait while he scanned the room to see where Jungkook ran off to sit. He wondered what if a killer ran in just to shoot him or stab him in front of everyone. That was the constant fear he lived throughout the whole time he was there. Eventually, he got his order of food that was placed onto the tray. The tray had two boxes of hamburgers, two boxes of large fries, large coca-cola cups while Jimin ordered himself a vanilla with chocolate syrup on the ice cream while Jungkook had a medium sized chocolate milkshake.
The man carried the tray carefully and found Jungkook sitting at a table that was in the center of the room. The boy waited excitedly for Jimin to show up since he was very hungry. Once the boy stepped in, he kept looking over to the entrance of the door and kept growing worried. What if the killer found him? Killed him? Jungkook would be left scarred eternally. This was a bad idea for the Chief.
"Here. Eat quickly please." Jimin told the younger while he slid the tray To Jungkook as the boy looked up at the older with worry, wanting to ask what was wrong. The younger then took his phone out and almost instantly, Jimin reached over to it and set it by the tray. "Jungkook, eat. You know I dislike sitting out here in the open... Anyone can run in here and try to start a mess." Jimin sighed and with this paranoia, he only took a glimpse at the tray of food he had yet to consume while Jungkook handed Jimin his box the hamburger. Wanting him to eat instead.
Jungkook wanted to tell Jimin to eat and stop coming up with excuses, but he didn't have his phone to do so. All he did was just give off gestures so Jimin could try to understand them. Interpreting them whichever way he wanted to and Jimin did. But, all he picked up out of it was what Namjoon said before and that was the chances of the young and silent prince, falling in love or looking up to the Chief.
Either way, Jimin knew there was something that told Jungkook in his mind to try his best to do right by Jimin. No matter what cruel thing Jungkook went through, he still respected the older with a smile and buried his pain from the harsh words he was given mostly any time of day now.
