Chapter 81: Our last dance
"I-It's not fair... IT'S NOT FAIR!" Jungkook shouted as he cupped his head in to let out a loud shout. "I can't have my happy ending but you can!" Jungkook hissed while Namjoon placed his right elbow over the armrest and watched his hermit crab hide inside of the shell. "I-I just wish... I wish someone who loves me could have me. But love doesn't exist for me, does it?!"
"Jungkook... Calm down. You have the whole day to get ready, don't waste it here with me or else you'll regret it. I told you, I'll get them all transported out of Busan by tonight and I suggest you leave as soon as the clock hits 8:00PM. I have a lot of work to do."
"I-I don't want to leave him, Namjoon... Please don't tell me I have to..." Whispered the young boy as the loan shark only rolled his wheel chair over to the front of his hermit crab's cage and opened the lid just to put the crab inside.
"I'll let you join your friends. Come on." Namjoon whispered to his crab and placed the cage over his lap to take the crab to his other room where he took care of his other hermit crabs in a big aquarium. "Listen Jungkook... I don't think that's a good idea for you to stay... If you stay, you'll get caught either way. It's better you run now. I don't know how you'll get caught, but it's better to leave with all the evidence you got. Not stay behind and leave the gang and stay next to those who could barge in and forcefully check the house for evidence and lead to your arrest. Take my words of advice and go. You need to start leaving the house by 8:00 PM." Namjoon continued as Jungkook felt so helpless. He had no other choice but to leave his lover and there was nothing he could do. There was no purpose in trying to stay behind. His gang needed him desperately and being a leader was what Jungkook needed to do.
The boy knew he had to grow up now, he stood up and wiped the running tears from his face as he let out a heavy breath. This was it; today was his final day with Jimin and the least he could do was run on home to pack up and at least try to make his departure try to seem more comfortable to Jimin even if he knew his lover wasn't going to accept something as brutal as saying goodbye.
Jungkook walked out of the room with a slouch and let out an exhale while he tried to lighten up. He told Namjoon about his plans for the gang, but he expected a little advice to see the light at the end of the tunnel, but even Namjoon claimed there was nothing at the end to run to. Only to what fate dragged him through. Jungkook walked out of the house as he kept his hands in his pocket. He was hoping Namjoon would take care of the gang for the boy, but he understood that this was his life and he was held responsible for his gang members. Not the loan shark. The young gang leader stepped out of the house and looked ahead to see the silhouette of Jimin's still leaning over the steering wheel; wallowing in his own sorrow.
The younger took a second as he let out another deep breath and made his way over to the car where he pulled the door open. It was still unlocked and throughout the whole time, Jimin didn't even have it in him to get up and follow Jungkook at all. This left the boy to open the door and hear Jimin sniffling through his tears. Jungkook only sat down in the car, placing over his seatbelt and looking down; knowing if he was to turn his face and look at Jimin, his heart would grow heavy and he'd make promises he can't keep. Just like staying for the love of his life.
"I...can't stay even if I wanted to, My king..." Jungkook whispered as he let out a sigh. "I wish we had forever... But my gang-"
Just then, Jimin sat up and started his car as he pushed his glasses up to cover the depressive look over his eyes. "I know... Don't try to make it worse that it already is." Jimin whispered and started the car once more to drive on home. "You need to pack up before I change my mind... Don't make me do something I'll regret.." Jimin whispered and began to drive with Jungkook silencing himself throughout the whole ride so Jimin wouldn't cling onto the voice he'll never hear ever again. This was it, this was the downfall of the rollercoaster and it seemed as if they weren't ever going to return to each other at all now.
The two soon reached the house once again as the day still held the rain back within the grey clouds that started to swarm around them. Jimin felt somewhat at ease that the day was slowly turning into a rainy day to fit his mood. He knew that those bright skies were going to turn grey just like the first day he met Jungkook through a storm and that's where their love story began. Only difference is that now, this is where it ended and Jimin just didn't want to go through with this.
The older unlocked the door as Jungkook had no words to exchange because he could tell that Jimin was going to ignore him to avoid the pain now. Jungkook only focused on walking upstairs to pack up and hopefully make time to be there with Jimin, however... The older didn't follow after Jungkook and only stood there silently to watch Jungkook run up the steps of the stairs to head over to his room for the day so he could get ready. A part of him wanted to drag him back to reunite with Jimin, but that wasn't going to happen because doing so would leave Jimin to think Jungkook chose to stay; when in reality, he couldn't.
Jungkook travelled to the bedroom he still shared with Jimin and placed his luggage down and allowed tears to stream down his face. He only wished this wasn't so difficult now and hoped to see Jimin walk in and smile at him, helping him fold clothes and give him gentle hugs to show that he was going to accept this... However, that was only within Jungkook's mind. He still noted how Jimin despised seeing Jungkook mention his departure.
The gang leader sat on the bed where he began to reminisce on those beautiful moments where Jimin kissed him on the bed or even back when they first started sleeping together. Tears were shed and love was made together before. Now, all it carried was Jungkook packing up and glancing at the doorway each second since he didn't want to spend the whole time packing up when Jimin was ignoring the pain from going upstairs to see the boy.
Very soon, Jungkook already packed up as he stood up and he approached the doorway of the bedroom to see that Jimin was in the office with the lights off. Wallowing in the dark now since he believed he had nothing going on for himself. He knew once Jungkook was to leave him, he may never get to smile once again. The young boy then made sure his phone was right by his side. It was only 7:02 PM now and Jungkook wasted most of his time in the room he used to share, just thinking of those lovely days he spent with Jimin. Those memories kept him from wanting to just throw himself out the window to end the pain he still had. Yet he knew, it was better to leave now instead of leaving forever....
Thunder clashed just outside the window while lightning only filled the room slightly. Jungkook knew he couldn't end in bad terms with Jimin, so the young man stepped into the office to see that Jimin was leaning against the office chair, hugging one of Jungkook's loose, white and long sweaters. The boy stared at the Chief as Jimin was sitting there so silently and a bottle of wine was waiting for him on the desk with an empty, clean and stainless wine glass. Jimin had yet to drown in his own pain.
Jimin let out a huff of his desperate breath while Jungkook approached Jimin like he normally would. Not wanting to approach him like a stanger now. "Jimin... I'm leaving soon..." Jungkook told Jimin as the older finally looked up and shook his head.
"N-No.. No don't leave... I'll die without you here." Jimin continued as Jungkook only shook his head. "Baby, you can't leave me... I showed you all of the love I could give you a-and have you leave me at such a fragile s-state..." Jimin then glanced at the bottle of wine. "I try so hard to fight it..."
"Jimin, I wish it was easy to stay with you... But, we both have lives to live and responsibilities to face. You couldn't love a criminal like me... But you did!" Jungkook continued as he walked up. "I was hoping you'd come and help me pack, Jimin... But you didn't and sat here instead."
"I know if I looked at that luggage filling up with clothes, I've would have lost it like I normally would. I'm emotionally unstable now and I have a problem.." Jimin whispered and looked at the bottle of wine. "You won't be here to save me..."
"Jimin, I know you could fight this... You're my Jimin, you know how hard I wanted you to get rid of the bad... Even me..."
"I can't get rid of my prince.. No matter how much it hurts, how could I say goodbye? You changed me in so many ways... This relationship wouldn't be perfect in anyone's eyes but just us... Because we were the ones that made this love possible..." Jimin continued as he finally stood up. "Baby, you're all I have..."
"You'll have to let me go... I'm not perfect, I'm not good enough, I'm not as innocent as I claimed to be. You deserve a nice boy who is willing to give you happiness... Not cause you to lose your friends, the trust people had in you and your mind... I did all of that because I fell in love with you. I'm sorry... I should've left you alone but as soon as our eyes met months back, I wanted to stay with you. When we kissed, I wanted more of you..." Jungkook replied and only then, he began to tear up and cup his face. "Love isn't fair to the both of us! I can't have the one I want... You can't have me and we are told to live with it. Just... Once you find another boy to fill your heart with after me, make sure you love him and take him to the beach.... No matter what."
"Don't say that to me, Jungkook... You're all I have. You're the only one I'd ever love..." Jimin continued as he placed Jungkook's sweater down on the desk as he moved in to cup Jungkook's face. "I don't want to let you go... But you'll leave soon and I can't hold you back with my tears. No matter how much tears I shed, it'll never change fate, will it?" Jimin continued as he watched the boy close his eyes once he had Jimin cup his face so gently. "Jeon Jungkook... How could I move on from you? If I do, it'll be nothing but a major downgrade because, our love alone was enough to make the day seem bright even through a sunny day..."
"Jimin...." Jungkook whispered as he opened his eyes and looked at the man he's always loved and will always love no matter how far they were going to be. "You won't... Be able to contact me... I don't want my phone tracked..." Jungkook whispered to the older while Jimin only smiled while the tears that ran down his eyes showed that he didn't want to smile, rather he forced himself to do so.
"T-That's okay... I'll be more supportive towards your decision... We'll meet again soon, okay? Promise me..." Jimin continued as Jungkook nodded his head and looked down to sob. "Don't cry... We both have to be strong.."
"I don't want to be strong then.." Jungkook cried and cupped his own face as Jimin began to think on what to do to cheer him up. Jimin had tears ready to burst, but in order to let go; he held them in and tried to see the brighter side of things. Only then, Jimin stepped back for a moment while Jungkook still gave off sobs into his hands uncontrollably until he crouched down onto the ground and didn't even try to dry them. "J-Jimin..." Jungkook cried continuously until... He heard a familiar song play to him.
🎶"One of one"🎶
by Duendita
Jungkook recalled this song from the night the two were finally first bonding and they shared their first dance together. Sweet memories dried the boy's tears as he looked up and watched Jimin set his own phone down and hold out his hand out to Jungkook.
"Jungkook... May I have this last dance..?"
