Chapter 63: A Father's guidance
Mr. Park remained gawking at the bottle of pills as he walked back to the living room to sit down and wait for his son to wake up. Instantly, Mr. Park didn't like that Jungkook used a sleeping pill on Jimin when he could have had the older sleep on his own time through the pain. The Chief began to think it was odd how his own son chose to live with his partner so suddenly, this made Mr. Park second guess his thoughts on choosing Jungkook as a good detective to work alongside Jimin. So far, Jungkook gave off a questionable guilty and nervous feel to the older father.
After a long time of waiting, Mr. Park kept watching over his son to talk to him and show him he was here for him and wanted to discuss on why Jungkook seemed so off. Jimin couldn't feel it because he was blind and in love, but Mr. Park felt it so suddenly. The elder wasn't so close to Jungkook and at the first glance he took on the silent prince, he knew something was up with the young boy. The elder wasn't paranoid like his son, so he remained calm when he suspected things from the back of his head.
Eventually, Jungkook arrived to work as he stepped in and gazed at the many officers beginning to whisper about the mute boy now. Jungkook could hear it left and right, the pain was there as he felt like wanting to run off and stay in the light of freedom. But he knew deep down that the light he dreamt of, the light he wished for, carried such a lovely fragrance of freedom... That he couldn't obtain for one second. It wasn't meant for him and he knew it, but longed for his happy ending even if he wasn't what it seemed.
Everyone was starting to speculate Jungkook and raise brows about the young man. He walked in to work with many deep stares or even glares. This made Jungkook slightly tear up and walk quicker and quicker to the office door. Once the boy made it to the door, an officer approached him and tapped him on the back. This made Jungkook's heart sink as he dreaded to look back. Hoping there wouldn't be handcuffs waiting for him.
Jungkook took a glance behind him as he noticed the officer held a box of Sehiro's things. "Goodmorning, Detective. Is the Chief here?" The officer asked as Jungkook shook his head nervously. The officer then handed the big box over to Jungkook. "I understand. Please, hand this over to the Chief. Sehiro's funeral will be held by the end of the week. Mrs. Riyu will send the Chief an invitation. Sehiro's wife is looking forward to see him there too since Sehiro meant so much to the both of them." The man added as Jungkook accepted the box and turned around after to try and open the door but, the officer smiled and moved in to help Jungkook.
"You look so nervous, Detective! Is it because Mr. Park is in town? I'd feel nervous too if I was with Chief Jimin!" Claimed the officer as Jungkook pulled a fake smile as thanks once the officer managed to open the office door for Jungkook. "Good luck!" Added the man as Jungkook stepped in and allowed the officer to close the door. Jungkook was now alone in the office as he called over to Jimin's table and placed it down while the Sehiro's silver gun caught his attention.
This gun was a gift by Jimin. It was silver and looked expensive. Too perfect to be used against anyone! It was the types of silver guns that pop smoke from the nozzle from every fired gunshot. Jungkook gazed at the gun. Not wanting to touch it because as he gazed at the gun, he felt like there was a bad energy coming from it. Almost as if he would meet his demise with that gun pointed towards him with an officer shouting at him to surrender. Whatever lied ahead, Jungkook couldn't help but to feel like he was hanging by the edge of a cliff. Close to having his fingers slip at any moment. The younger slowly started to tear up like before and stepped back as he gazed at the silver gun like the bullet was already pulled and caught him in the process. The worry and fear was weighing him down little by little. Giving him a scary feeling he has never felt before. That was the worry of his love slipping away from him now.
Later on, Jimin opened his eyes and slept through the morning and woke up around 4:56 PM. Jimin expected to see his lover in his arms, but as he opened his eyes, his gaze locked with his own father. Causing Jimin to stammer and cause his eyes to widen. "F-Father?!"
"Hello, Jimin. You had such a long rest.." Mr. Park added as he held the bottle of pills in his grasps. As soon as Jimin looked down at his Father's hands, he shook the bottle of sleeping pills and picked up the plate where Jimin ate the peanut butter sandwich from. "Jimin, did you have to hide the sleeping pill if you were going to use it?"
"W-What? Jungkook served me coffee and a sandwich... Not-" Jimin then cut himself off as he blinked and gawked at the white pill crumbs on the plate he was eating from. Realizing that Jungkook used the sleeping pills against him. Jimin took a moment gazing at the pills as he let out a sigh. He wasn't angry. He knew Jungkook had to do this because he was worried about his lover's health so Jimin wasn't upset about it. "Oh... I told him to do it... I wouldn't take the pill on my own so, I told him to hide it from me.." Jimin lied so his father wouldn't speculate anything bad from Jimin's perfect prince.
"You did? How odd. I know it's tough to get you to rest at moments like these, but I know hiding that pill is too extra. You would take the pill with no struggle..." Mr. Park added as he let out a sigh. "Why is he living here? Isn't he an adult? Shouldn't he take care if himself? Are you babying him?"
"Father, he's here because he is. You won't change that. He's my partner and I have to treat him well. Ah, where is he..?"
"I sent him to work. He shouldn't miss out on saving the town if you aren't well." Mr. Park added as Jimin's eyes blew wide once again.
"N-No! You can't send him out there on his own! He's mute... No one else at the station knows how to communicate with him!" Jimin panicked as he reached for his shades and sat up to place them on. "I-I need to go.." Jimin continued, but Mr. Park stood up and folded his arms.
"I'm starting to have second thoughts on having him as your partner. I don't feel anything good coming from him and as soon as he got here, you completely slowed down... Besides, I never knew he was mute. Maybe if I did, I would have chosen someone better for you. I see he is no good for this and I should send him back to Seoul." Mr. Park said as Jimin's heart pounded in worry.
"H-He is good! He works so well! I'm the one that slows him down. If anyone should get fired, it's me! I'm the cause of slowing him down..." Jimin continued as he let out a heavy sigh. "I... I'm the one to blame."
"I have a tough time believing in that. You always put work before anyone else, but now, you put him over anything... Willing to get yourself caught up in the flames instead of him paying for the price of his own issues. I don't think a mute boy suits the role. He did well back in Seoul, but here.. I think he's distracted. I should send him back as soon as possible."
"Father, no! You can't! He's my detective! I want him here. I focus when he's around me, I smile and my life is better. He's all I have!" Jimin stated as he stood up and gazed at his father before turning his head and gazing at luggages against the wall. "...You're staying...?"
"Yes I am. Which means, there won't be any room for Jungkook here. He'll have to find a place for the meantime."
"Father, this house is big! Don't be like that. He's mute, he's a little awkward, but I can assure you, he could be the best detective you have ever met! That I promise."
"So you bonded with a mute boy throughout his time here while you didn't even dare to think about work for once? What world do you live in? Open your eyes! You have work to focus on!" Continued the Father. He of course, only relied on this feeling he received while communicating with the boy just earlier. Jungkook looked as if guilt was eating him up and worry spun around in his silent mind. The Chief was able to pick these out. Having no pity just because the boy was mute.
"He's not just a mute boy.. He's so much more!" Jimin added as he thought of Jungkook. "He means so much to me..."
"Listen, Jimin... Like whoever you like. Love whoever you love and want whoever you want... But keep your eyes open to those who 'love' you... But really only use you." Mr. Park stated as Jimin intertwined his hands with his own, feeling like he could feel Jungkook's hands within his.
"Father... Please find a place to stay. Not here." Jimin concluded as he removed his hands locked together. "Jungkook is already here... There's no room for you." Jimin claimed. Allowing the love he had for Jungkook talk back. Of course, Jimin knew he had his family, but once his father leaves, he'll be all alone with Jungkook. Jimin just didn't want his father to say that Jungkook seemed to be using him. The silent prince's love was too obvious and real to be seen as nothing but a set up. Jimin knew this wasn't right since he adored Jungkook and knew the boy loved him too. The one he always cared about, Jeon Jungkook... and Jimin knew this was the boy who would never lie to him. Or so he thought. "I need to go to work.." Said Jimin into a whisper as he began to walk off and only then, his Father cleared his throat.
"Kicking me out? After all I've done? I owned this house and passed it to you. Now you'd rather choose a disabled boy over your own father? I tell you these things because I'm honest with you, Park Jimin. My son, have you ever felt an unsettling feeling over another? I'm not talking about love... I'm talking about fear, suspicion and worry." Mr. Park added calmly.
Those words alone struck Jimin as he just stood there and shook his head slightly. "Father, you have that feeling... Because you think he's different... Don't you? You don't want to give him a chance because he's different than you and I. Right?" Jimin asked. Silencing the Father in the process.
"...I-I'll leave you both alone, but I'll just ask you one last question." Mr. Park said. Dodging the question as he brought up his own and folded his arms while he gazed at Jimin turn around and pay attention to the elder. "Are you sure this kid, Jeon Jungkook... is mute?"
