Chapter 62: An untimely visit
Jungkook sat down next to Jimin as he gazed down at the sleeping man on the couch. The younger then moved in closer as he curled up on Jimin's chest and laid over him. Letting out a sigh as he locked his hands along with Jimin's so innocently. Jungkook remained gazing up into Jimin's sleepy face as the younger kept moving in to kiss the lips of his older Chief. Jungkook loved Jimin no matter what madness they've been through. Yet, just thinking of what would happen to their love after Jimin finds out, was something Jungkook couldn't help but to tear up about.
The silent prince caressed Jimin's face softly, knowing that their love wouldn't be so strong in the future. Obstacles will come between them once again and Jungkook had to sit and pretend he didn't see any of this coming. Playing it off like he wasn't aware of what he was doing like he was nothing but an innocent prince. His innocence was not even skin deep now. He was only mischievous and sly underneath. Jungkook thought of how horrible it would be, having Jimin think less of him and say their love became too dry from now on. Those things tended to scare the mysterious boy. His love for Jimin was the only thing that stood out from this perfect persona Jimin painted of him.
The boy laid on top of Jimin and caressed his face softly as he kept watching over Jimin. The man's breathing was steady, gentle and calm. It made the boy long to curl up over Jimin's body like this, forever... But there was a possibility that forever wouldn't exist with many flaws Jungkook has caused towards Jimin. The pain of making Jimin's best friend become a suspect was deep enough to have Jimin call Jungkook a killer for ruining Sehiro's life before he was murdered. Without coming up with the evidence to hold against Sehiro, the officer would still be alive to this day. It was something that attracted the gang to Sehiro. The way they knew where he was at that hour was a silent and a closed off mystery...
Just as Jungkook was close to falling asleep after, there was a knock at the door and Jungkook felt his heart sink. Who could it have been? Jungkook worried and grew nervous. Just laying there with Jimin was what he wanted the most out of all of this before the boy could shed a tear, suddenly, another knock followed after. Leading Jungkook to slowly stand up and peer his gaze over the window to see who it was. Just outside, an older man stood there with his hands behind his back. Jungkook didn't want to waste another second. He ke knew who this was, so, the younger quickly jumped up and pulled the door open to gaze at the elder with a black and white suit.
This was no one other than Mr. Park. Jimin's father who came from Seoul to check up with his son. By now, he recieved word that Sehiro was killed during the mass shooting around the coffee shop too. With no survivors left to question about their experience on this alone. Mr. Park just stopped by to check up on Jimin along with Jungkook too! However, by his side was a few luggages... Signifying that he was going to stay there as well until Jimin was better.
Mr. Park's eyes met with Jungkook as he made a smile at the young detective he sent for Jimin. "Ah! Jungkook, such an honor to finally see you! Now I know what face matches the name! I've been longing to see you face to face and now I finally do! You're very handsome detective, such a shame I just sent you here without anything. I should have gotten to know how you managed to finish so much cases... Yet here, you slowed down?" Mr. Park added as Jungkook signed back.
'Sorry about that. We've been through so much that it pushed us back. Too many walls.' Jungkook signed after he bowed. Yet, Mr. Park blinked his eyes and folded his arms.
"Mute...? Oh I've never noticed you were mute... I'm sorry I never got the chance to get to know you. I just sent whoever had enough cases done and seemed to work quicker. I don't understand sign language. I'm sorry." The man kept apologizing as Jungkook nodded his head and made a smile. Showing that it was okay. Jungkook then pointed to Jimin to show that he was asleep. "Oh I see... He's asleep. You know, I bet it was hard for him to sleep through this... He must've changed a lot... Normally he wouldn't sleep after something like this." Mr. Park continued as Jungkook helped out with the luggages and took them in for the elder.
"Did you help him fall asleep...?" Mr. Park asked as Jungkook just dreaded to mention he used a pill on Jimin to make him sleep on his own. Jungkook had to lie, so, he nodded his head and dragged the luggages up to a wall where he set them against it. "Why aren't you wearing anything for work? Wait... Shouldn't you be at work? Jimin can't go, but who said you can't?"
Jungkook looked around and just walked up to a piece of paper on the table and picked up a black marker after. Jungkook then began to write to the father as he then looked up at Mr. Park before thinking on what to answer with. 'I can't go, Jimin is the only one who understands me and no one else does.' Jungkook wrote down and handed the paper to the Chief so he could read.
"Ah, I see. Must be tough. But you don't need people to understand you just for that reason. I say you should go and work on your own. That's how you were able to do things back in Seoul, right? You don't need the Chief to baby you. Do you... Live here?"
Jungkook then used up another piece of paper to write. 'Yes I live here. Is that a problem?'
"....of course not." Mr. Park answered as Jungkook made a smile and placed the marker down on the table. "You know... You should be working on your own. You don't need my son to baby you. You work independently. Just because you're mute doesn't mean you need to stay here. Jimin is an adult and I'm sure you're one too. Why do you live here anyways?"
Jungkook slowed down before walking off as he stopped for a second and tilted his head before writing down on the paper once more. He expected Mr. Park to be kind to him since he alone was chosen to work alongside Jimin. However, Mr. Park never actually had enough time to get to know Jungkook. That was something not everyone knew about Jungkook's relationship between his own boss back in Seoul. This was the first time they met which rose many questions in Mr. Park's head. Believing that this man was a bit too close to his son. Or maybe too close...
'Perhaps, you should be asking your son that. He'll be up in a few hours. He's really sleepy.' Jungkook wrote and handed the paper back before tapping his finger over his wrist. Showing he had work now. Mr. Park stood there and read over the paper as Jungkook walked up the stairs to go get ready for work. Leaving the father back at the living room to turn his head and gaze at Jimin sleeping.
In the room, Jungkook slowly began to panic. Imagining all the issues that could surface if Mr. Park was to stay here for a while. He would question Jungkook for everything and Mr. Park didn't seem too gullible. It was at this moment, Jungkook started to shake from being nervous and just couldn't focus now. He couldn't think back at the fact that the truth was going to be forced out of him. He only refrained to have Jimin in his arms longer. Knowing if he was to say he framed Sehiro, he'd be sent to death row himself and linked to many crimes. There was no win at all.
But Jimin's love...The way he kissed his silent Prince, showing him not to fear a thing. Felt so far from Jungkook's grasp now. Even if it was close to him and all he could do was be honest, he would have to run away from this... And the love he had for Jimin. Jungkook imagined Jimin would be with him for so long enough to go off to the beach together or travel to Japan, but it was Jungkook himself fearing he would lose Jimin's love along the way... That was his fear. Losing Jimin and living alone forever. He would think, who would love someone like him? He hid many things and wasn't honest about everything. That was the qualities he just longed to learn from someone who actually cared about his well-being.
Jungkook slowly began to tear up, knowing his lie was about to crumble away if he stayed here longer... But he dared to stay since his love was still strong. He learned to love someone that showed him things he never thought was possible. Being treated the same never felt so great to a black sheep like him from the start. He wasn't who he said he was, but only now, Jungkook felt the pain of his lies coming back to tell him that he alone wasn't good enough to deserve Jimin. The silent prince had to mentally prepare himself for the worst now... No matter what lied ahead, prison bars, heart breaks, chains, bullets through the heart or even a coffin... Jungkook had to take it all.
The boy changed into a black sleeved sweater for work as he straightened out the wrinkles on his shirt before he could go. Jungkook then walked out of the bedroom and gazed over the staircase to see that Mr. Park was sitting down at the opposite couch, still gazing over Jimin who was still asleep. Jungkook had to walk past the Chief from Seoul as he made it out with Jimin's car keys to get to work. No one liked him there, but he still battled through those sour comments. He had to stay strong if Jimin wasn't by his side. Jungkook ended up heading to work feeling horrible every second. His actions was eating him up and that was the downside of guilt. He cared for Jimin and it killed him every second to be like this. That's why Jungkook wasn't feeling like himself anymore. That sweet paradise of love and understanding each other stretched further and further away from his grasps now.
Mr. Park remained at the house as soon as Jungkook left. Only then, the man stood up and noticed there was white crumbled pieces of a pill on the plate and at the bottom of the thermos Jungkook served Jimin with. This made the father worry as he walked over to the kitchen to suddenly find the sleeping pill bottle there along with the cleaver Jungkook used to crush the pill.
"I knew Jimin never slept through moments like these on his own..." Mr. Park whispered as he walked up to the bottle of pills and picked it up into his hands while he glanced back at Jimin fast asleep. Getting the rest he lacked from the start of his pain.
