Chapter 58: Beyond compare
Jungkook stepped out of the office he shared with Park Jimin. Thinking that now he should bring the older something to eat so Jimin wouldn't pass out. On his way out the office, he looked up to gaze at the many officers that gathered around those who were close to Sehiro, but of course, as they knew he was a suspect, they had to shove the man away and that too has become their biggest regret they've all made. Even Jimin's as well.
Jungkook glanced their way as a few officers gawked over to the Silent prince. Remembering Sehiro was the one that hurt Jungkook and said he was all to blame. It wasn't until Sehiro died that now, they began to question Jungkook. "Hey... Isn't he the one Sehiro punched?" Asked one of the officers as Jungkook listened to the officers. Most of them believed he was deaf since they weren't aware Jungkook was a mute. Those were two completely different things so Jungkook didn't dare to give them any sign that he could listen. Not talk.
"Oh! I remember Sehiro mentioned we had to watch out for that kid... Another officer said Jungkook is the Chief's fuck toy.." Added another Officer as Jungkook took these words as knives thrown on his back as he dragged his body to keep moving through the pain. Out of his time there, he believed he was accepted for who he truly was, however, due to the fact that he couldn't speak, rose some brows behind closed doors.
"I don't think he's deaf or silent! Jimin obviously touches him so, he's bound to make noise!"
"I wonder what sounds would he make if he's in pain?"
"Of course Jimin knows! He fucks Jungkook like a toy. Ah, it's such a shame he isn't given bigger crime scenes to handle alone other than having his sugar daddy stand by his side and walk him through each crime slowly! I overheard Jimin say he only dumbs his knowledge down so the kid could feel good."
"I don't know about you all, but Jungkook deserves a little more. Detectives like him should be solving cases, not playing in the sex dungeon with the Chief. Such a shame. He is free to guide his own case. Chief just babys him because he feels bad the boy can't hear."
"He is mute." Said a woman as she shoved the officer that started the whole gossip. "Hold your tongue Officer Yu. You don't know anything about the kid. So what he's with the Chief? What are you going to do? Cry about it?" Continued the woman that let out a sigh afterwards as she looked over at Jungkook. "Are you okay, Jungkook?" She asked as Jungkook stopped walking as he stood still and was trembling to himself at the sudden words he heard. There was no time to argue with Jimin about this, especially when everyone was sad at the moment with anger and regret.
Jungkook calmed himself down and let out an exhale as he walked down to the lounge as a few Officers whispered after. Feeling a little bad they assumed he was deaf instead of mute. Either way, Jungkook now knew he wasn't so normal in the eyes of any other person that worked at the station. He kept himself from getting angry at the little things that seemed to grow so big against him. Jungkook shook off the words as he made it to the lounge and started to make coffee for Jimin and himself. Also making sure he gathered a few pastries or muffins to keep Jimin from fainting from his emotional pain.
Jungkook was quick to grab the necessary snacks and coffee for Jimin and himself as he almost feared to make his way out of the lounge to meet the eyes of many other whispering officers that would rather continue talking about the mute boy other than understanding him. Jungkook took it upon himself to step out of the lounge and face everyone who was watching over him like he was some type of alien from a different universe.
Just as he stepped out, the whispers stopped and everyone gazed at the Detective. Showing him how bad it was. Jungkook felt like everyone was judging his every move. The way he walked and up to the way he held the coffee and snacks. The attention was making Jungkook extremely nervous and almost made him want to cry due to the mean words they uttered and he managed to listen.
"How could the Chief love a mute boy?"
"Pitied love. That's how."
Jungkook repeated those words in his head. Knowing that he shouldn't bring it up to Jimin at a moment like this. Especially when Jimin was hurting at the moment. The boy walked back to the office where he met up with Jimin and walked over to the desk, serving him coffee and the pastries for breakfast. Jimin was just under the desk, weeping to himself as he still held the gleaming silver badge in his hands. The Chief looked up with his eyes growing red from his tears while he locked eyes with Jungkook holding two cups of coffee in a coffee cup holder along with the small bags of pastries like, muffins, cookies, rice cakes, small pop cakes, and granola bars.
"J-Jungkook... I said I'm not hungry, I can't eat at a time like this..." Jimin whispered in a soft tone to his depressing voice. "Please... Don't.." Jimin managed to speak through his tears as Jungkook set the things on the desk to sign.
'You need to eat, Jimin. When I was sick and broken, you still fed me and made me feel better through the pain. Now I'm numb to it. All because of you.' Jungkook signed as Jimin gazed at the muffins within the bag Jungkook then carried to his lover just to comfort him and ensure he eats at least something. 'Please. Do it for me.' Jungkook continued to sign as Jimin nodded his head finally and held up the bag to eat something or at least try to. Jungkook handed Jimin the coffee and stood up from the desk to look at the laptop and see that Namjoon already sent him a message to accept the call whenever he's ready.
Jimin tried to eat as he sat there and held a plain muffin in his weak hands after pressing his hands onto the silver badge like it would make his good friend walk into the office with a smile on his face to save everyone from the endless hole they were all falling into, with Jimin falling in head first. As the older gazed at the muffin with his gloomy gaze, Jungkook began the video chat with RM. He did this so it could be easier to explain and break the news instead of typing it all out.
RM finally answered the video call as he made a smile at the screen once Jungkook popped up. "Jungkook! I haven't seen you for so long!" RM added so happily as Jungkook signed to him. The silent prince pointed to himself, rose his hands up to fan it up against his chest to sign happy, then, he used his two fingers and pointed his middle finger to the bottom of his eyes and onto his cheekbone as he finally pulled his hand away to point his index finger towards RM. 'I'm happy to see you.' The boy signed.
".... Oh! Happy to see you too, Jungkook." Namjoon said with a little delay there. "Hey, where is Jimin?" Namjoon wondered as Jungkook pointed down as Namjoon rose a brow. Thinking dirty at the way Jungkook pointed down like Jimin was on his knees doing something to Jungkook.
"Under the desk..." Jimin added as he looked at the muffin in his hands. Trying to eat, but he was overwhelmed with the horrible feeling within. How could he move on now?
"Why is that?" Namjoon wondered as Jungkook had to sign to Namjoon on what happened so recently. Namjoon read Jungkook's signs quickly since he was fluent on sign language as the expression on his face changed from a smile, to a faded frown on his face with only glum lingering on. "Oh... Sehiro..? He was the few that was killed there? I remember getting a call from the coffee shop about a mass shooting. I sent the officers there for that crime scene. Is that why the two of you aren't there?"
'Jimin will lose it if he goes there. He couldn't keep stable when he was told the news.' Jungkook signed and looked down at Jimin still staring at the muffin. Having urges to put it down and continue to cry, but he was slowly losing his tears from shedding it.
"I thought you were at home..." Jimin whispered as he placed the muffin back into the bag and let out a sigh.
"I work as dispatcher. I can work anywhere as long as I could do the bribing with cash." RM added to lighten up the mood as he knew that of deep down, he wasn't feeling as good as anyone else. He didn't like Sehiro after all he went through because of the man, however, he did recall he was bonding with the man at the last stakeout. Yet, even that didn't lighten up his mood since that was the day he was paralyzed on the waist down. Namjoon let out a sigh as he recalled the pain and reached off the screen to pick up the glass cage of his hermit crab. Trying to cheer himself up. "I never really got to know him... I feel horrible I assumed many things. I guess I deserve to stay here on a wheel chair for four months.. Or more..." Namjoon continued and sighed.
'Don't say that. You weren't the one who died. We wish he could have been shot on the back and was left paralyzed for a few months. But he's gone for life. Never coming back. Jimin just likes to think he's on a trip or just moved away. I worry for him.' Jungkook pouted after he signed and looked down at Jimin now looking at the badge in his hands.
"Jimin... Ah, come up here, I know it's tough to lose someone-"
"He's not lost... He's not gone.. He's just going home and staying there until the storm goes away." Jimin whispered. "H-He's sleeping... He'll come back soon..." Jimin whispered to himself as Namjoon looked away from his hermit crab and signed silently to Jungkook.
'He needs help. The way he's thinking right now isn't safe. He could hurt himself mentally if he doesn't seek to get help out of this one.' Namjoon signed to Jungkook silently while Jimin then curled up on the floor and let out a sigh after placing the badge over his heart and pinning it there. Losing a best friend he used to tell everything, was hell to him. But, throwing him out of his life towards the end of Sehiro's life was even worse. Jimin felt guilty and horrible. Out of all those horrible things Jimin did to Sehiro, the older never hated the Chief, he cared for him until his very last breath was drawn during the mass shooting RM claimed to have happened at the coffee shop. That's why there were many police cars around the area like the gang drove by to ruin everyone's crop of life.
'I want to help him. But, he doesn't want me to leave him anymore. He's scaring me.' Jungkook signed as Jimin watched Jungkook sign, reading it in his head, yet he didn't care. He looked like his sanity travelled far from his soul to the point where he just didn't care about what Jungkook felt towards Jimin slowly reaching the aftermath of losing someone close to him. This drew the Chief crazy and pushed his paranoia out in the open. However, he only did this out of love to ensure Jungkook wouldn't be the next one who ends up six-feet under.
