Chapter 35: Suspect

The following morning, Jungkook woke up to see Jimin already adjusting the tie over his white dress shirt collar as he sat at the edge of the bed. The younger suddenly sat up and let out cough before he could stand up and start taking off his long sleeved shirt. Just as Jimin could hear the rustling sound of Jungkook's shirt, the older quickly looked back and gazed over at Jungkook who was desperately trying to throw on his clothes for work.

"Jungkook? What are you doing? You're sick! Lay down!" Jimin demanded as Jungkook only shook his head and tossed his sleeved dress shirt to the ground and rushed over to his dresser where he swung the small door open and looked at his dress shirts he wanted to choose from. Just then, he continued to cough and look down as his hand was pressed onto the dresser. "Jungkook... Stay... You can't go." Jimin added and walked up behind the younger as he placed his hands on his shoulder. "Please... I don't want to see you so sick like this."

'Jimin I'm perfectly fine.' Jungkook signed and turned around to face Jimin. 'Trust me.' Jungkook begged and begged to Jimin. Wanting to go to work, but Jimin just didn't allow it. 'Jimin. Please. I want to go too.'

"You can't. You're sick! How many times do I have to tell you that? I want you to rest today..." Jimin added and looked at the younger. "I'm running late. Stay here and do NOT follow me." Jimin warned the boy while Jungkook locked his teary gaze over at the older man. "I do this for your own good." Claimed the Chief before walking off and leaving the younger alone in the room to quiver his lip from the tears he wished to dread. He didn't like the feeling of being left out and this alone made him wish to follow Jimin so desperately.

As Jimin walked up to the front door, Jungkook was just above on the second floor of the stairs, wearing his loose dress shirt like he was in a rush to change his clothes. He let out a cough that brought Jimin's focus over to him while the Chief looked up at Jungkook just waiting there with the slight tears in his eyes. "Jungkook. Stay there." Jimin said while Jungkook pouted and shook his head. Rolling up the sleeves of his dress shirt and wanting to follow. But Jimin just didn't allow it. "Stay here. I'll be back soon, okay? I made sure to cook you breakfast, heat it up if you're hungry and there is hot tea in the thermos." Jimin told Jungkook as the boy slowly started to step down the stairs and grasp onto the rails of the stairs. Coughing and wiping his nose. "Bye, I'll come back soon." Jimin added as he walked out of the house and shut the door. Looking back and gazing at the boy through the window.

Just beyond the window, Jimin could see the boy drop onto the step of the stairs and hug the pillars holding the rail while he cried to himself. Jimin didn't want to go, but he woke up and wasn't sick at all. "Maybe it'll catch on soon." Jimin thought as he slowly parted from the door and walked away. Going to work and leaving Jungkook alone. In the car, Jimin contemplated the thought of seeing Jungkook so upset like this. He had no idea Jungkook clinged onto him like this and longed to follow him so desperately even if he was sick. He was willing to risk his health to serve his job and be by his Chief.

"Ah, I feel so bad... Jungkook isn't himself right now. I almost want to stay home! But... Everyone would suspect something is up.." Jimin whispered and placed his hands on the steering wheel as soon as he turned the keys to the ignition. "I'll check up on him later." Jimin said to himself and as soon as he pulled out of the driveway, he looked up at the window of the house to see the young and pale, sick boy pout and have his hand over the window glass. "What's gotten into him? He's desperately clingy when it comes to getting sick." Jimin whispered to himself and drove off while still gazing at the boy's hand slide off the glass of the window.

Jimin's heart grew heavy now. He left Jungkook with food and the house already locked and secured... However, he just couldn't bring Jungkook to work if he looked that bad. This small feeling made Jimin view his day as a dull day without his partner. "He must have such a bad day... I'll... I'll get him a camera to make it up for his lost one! He purchased that one from Japan, but It's worth a try. I need to make him happy and protect him. Not make him depressed and break him." Concluded the Chief and paid attention to the road up ahead for work.

As soon as Jimin arrived to the station. He collected his thoughts to face Sehiro who would wait for him and stick to him like a rash. Constantly ask if he's alright or even ask about the case. Whatever it was, Jimin was more than prepared to face him and of course, bring on the fact that he found his first suspect. Jimin walked into the station and made his way over to his office. The Chief took out the keys so swiftly and tried to unlock the door quickly. He was in a rush to get inside and avoid Sehiro. He was ready to face him and ask him questions, but on the outside, he panicked and tried to open the door.

Suddenly, Jimin opened the door and stepped in. Before he could close the door, Sehiro quickly approached the door and placed his shoe in between the opening, making the Chief flinch and jump back as Sehiro stepped in with a big smile and closed the door behind him. "Jimin! Where's Jungkook?"

"Oh um... He's sick.. So he couldn't get here.." Jimin added as he walked over to his desk and nervously hugged himself.

"Such a shame. I wanted to ask if he would love to perform a stakeout with me again for the night! I felt horrible for not doing my best before and it was tough to sleep knowing that I hurt one of the Dispatchers from my stupidity. Hopefully we could get somewhere as soon as we succeed this stakeout and maybe ask for the bullet that was shot in from Namjoon's back. It doesn't hurt to ask.. Right?" Sehiro wondered as he placed his hands on his own hips. "We need to get somewhere with this."

"Sehiro... You seem a little off today... You seem more nice and confident. You'd only act that way when you'd have me by your side. Is your wife pregnant?" Jimin asked as Officer Riyu laughed and shook his head.

"Listen, I've been really upset since I caused Namjoon to get hurt... I'm trying to look at the bright side of things!" Sehiro added as he dropped his hands behind his back. "But... I understand if the detective can't make it. Can you? We need to find the hideout!"

"I can't go... I can't suddenly jump into a stakeout as soon as RM got shot out there... It's bad enough I've heard whispers on my way here..." Jimin claimed as Sehiro nodded his head and let out a sigh.

"What if I go alone? I bet I can find it!"

"Oh I know you will..." Jimin said under his breath while the older officer rose a brow and tilted his head.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Sehiro asked as he tilted his head.

"Sehiro... I think you are our first suspect..." Jimin claimed as he watched the look on the Officer's face just fade away from the confusion.

"S-Suspect? Really Jimin? Me?!" Sehiro asked as he rolled his eyes and shook his head. "You've got to be kidding me! I was in the same car as Namjoon."

"Hey, I was talking about the one who killed Mr. Wong...then, Namjoon suspected it was you all along. Listen, Jungkook analyzed the man's dead body and he could tell that the weapon used was a katana. All that points to you. RM told us you wanted to take his crab and run off since you were the 'fastest' we both know that's not true! You can't make it that far without falling down on your knees. You were the one in uniform and gang members are most likely to shoot the man in uniform, however... Namjoon was shot. Not you and he didn't wear uniform. You're the one at fault." Jimin added as he kept his distance. "I-I don't know if I should trust you..."

"What?! Just because I'm Japanese doesn't mean I had the katana or committed the crime! Anyone could travel to Japan and sneak a katana in here by ship or just hiding it well in the luggages." Sehiro fired and let out a frustrated sigh. "I can't believe my only best friend is doing this to me... You would believe Jungkook but not me? I've known you for many years! How could you say that it was me? What if Jungkook is blaming me?!"

"Stop saying it was Jungkook... He has nothing on him like how you have these accusations on you. You get the gist now. You're a suspect. You better find a good alibi to protect you. I can't help you..." Jimin shot back. As soon as Sehiro mentioned Jungkook, Jimin suddenly went off and started to retort his words back on Sehiro.

"You've got to be kidding me! You don't believe a mute boy who has it out for me... Do you?!" The officer rose his voice while Jimin rose a brow.

"Are you kidding me? You're really throwing this at Jungkook because he's mute and seems to 'have it out for you'?  Jungkook doesn't dislike you as much as you dislike him... I can't believe you right now... You're jealous of him!" Jimin added while Sehiro suddenly grew silent. "You see Namjoon and him around me everyday to the point where you just grow upset! You hurt Namjoon... And you're out to get Jungkook now..."

"J-Jimin... It wasn't me! I'm not in any of this! You need to believe me! I'm your best friend... You know me better than anyone else." Sehiro argued while Jimin shook his head.

"Apparently not enough... Please leave my office. You need to find a good alibi to defend you now." Jimin claimed and as soon as he turned around, Sehiro grabbed onto Jimin's wrist and turned him around to face him.

"Why do you allow those two to put things in your head?! It makes sense.. But please you're the only one who believes I am innocent. You and my wife..." Sehiro added while Jimin tried to pull his hand away. "W-What about Jungkook, Hm?! He's probably unstable... He got sick the day after the storm and you were asleep! That's something... Isn't it?! You can't trust a boy like that."

Jimin suddenly pulled his hand away and scowled at the older as he softly rubbed around his wrist that slowly turned red. "ENOUGH! Jungkook is a sweet boy... He's someone I can trust.. He did go out in the rain but he went to buy groceries and he has it back at home to prove! I can't believe you would force me to turn on my own detective. You out of everyone..." Jimin sighed and looked up at the Officer. "I'll give you time, but If you don't find your evidence soon, I'm putting you under arrest myself, Riyu Sehiro. That I promise."
