Chapter 29: Blame

Jimin felt the officer hug him in front of everyone in a way for comfort and the man allowed it because he knew it wasn't really supposed to mean anything. It was just a friendly hug to him and that was it. Yet, Jungkook was feeling jealous but at the same time, he held back from doing something because he knew what ever was in between Jimin and Sehiro, was just nothing but friendship.

Jimin was the one that pulled away from the long hug and turned towards his officers. "Did you all gather anything? Where the figure ran off to?"

"No, Chief. After they spread out of the car, the potential gang member chased after Namjoon and shot him on the back. Then the gang member took his gun and ran off with it. The figure was running down the streets and we watched a few gang members emerge from small cavities between buildings and dumpsters. They followed after and we were then left alone in silence to watch them run off. It was like they expected us and once they caused harm, they ran out. I guess I could say that there was more than ten people there that took off running after the main lead." Told one of the officers that was serving the stakeout the night before.

"We're going nowhere with this... If this keeps up, we have to close many cases." Sighed the older as he face palmed. "I'm going to check up on Namjoon for the day." Jimin said as the officer nodded their head and were dismissed after. Jimin stood there and wiped his last tear while Officer Riyu stood in front of Jimin's view to Jungkook who was about to approach him.

"Don't lose hope, Jimin! I know Jungkook could find something there. So, please take care... I have to head off and guard the bank. Here's the hospital Namjoon is in right now." Sehiro claimed and showed Jimin the map from his GPS and handed him Namjoon's hermit crab within the glass cage. "Give this to him. I can already imagine him growing worried without it." Sehiro added as he seemed too fond over Namjoon like he pitied the dispatcher since he was injured.

"Of course." Jimin said and took down the address of the hospital and accepted the hermit crab's cage. "Thank you for your help." Jimin added and stepped back before walking off and hearing Jungkook's footsteps desperately beat onto the ground in a hurry. Trying to catch up with Jimin's speed walking. Jimin couldn't think clear at the moment and could just hear the echoes of the judge beating the gravel against the sound block. Calling out guilty.

Jimin didn't know why this echoed on in his head. All he would lose is the trust of people and his position of Chief. Being pushed all the way down to an officer. If Jimin was found with Jungkook, many things would happen. They will believe Jungkook was the one that desperately ruined the laptop with the coffee to spend some time with Jimin, they became irresponsible on the mission and caused Namjoon to get injured. Jimin just couldn't have all the fingers pointing on the love of his life and the hate getting thrown over at him.

The Chief climbed into his car as he sat down and gripped onto the steering wheel with a sigh. "Jungkook..." Jimin whispered and looked to his side while the boy was placing on his seat belt and looking up ahead. "Jungkook... Look at me.. I need to talk to you..." Jimin added while Jungkook nodded his head. Turning to face Jimin. "Jungkook, Namjoon got hurt... I pulled back from the stakeout. I never did that before. If everyone finds out about it, they'll start questioning me." Jimin added and started the car. "Don't you ever sign off to Namjoon about what we did or what's between us. Okay? It's nothing to mention to anyone! Promise me that..."

Jungkook complied with Jimin's wishes and knew not to mention this to the Dispatcher. Jungkook felt bad that they couldn't go public at all, no words of 'I love you' being told to each other when everyone is around and Jungkook of course, couldn't ever give Jimin a kiss unless they were back at home. This alone made Jungkook sigh, rub his arm and look down. He had many issues with this, but it seems like the most easiest way to go. However, Jimin felt a little set off about all of this. Sehiro wasn't wrong about guiding the gang off, but what in the world told him to give off their position like that? It was enough to lure in one of the gang members during the crisis.

Jimin drove off to the hospital and got into the building to visit Namjoon. He wasn't family, but he held his badge and that was enough for the nurses to allow him in along with Jungkook. Jimin carried the hermit crab and still felt horrible over this. Namjoon shouldn't be going through this now. This was enough to make the man think if whether or not, his secret relationship with Jungkook was okay. Jimin took sacrifices on his job. Putting the silent prince in front of the people he had to protect! It didn't seem fair to everyone now and Jimin could see that. Even if he loved the boy, there was things that couldn't be due to the atmosphere around them.

Around them, it was love, glee, warmth... Something the Chief hasn't ever felt before in a long time. But, beyond that, it was suspicions and thoughts on the injury the Dispatcher faced. What could the Chief have done to prevent the Dispatcher; someone who rarely goes out for stakeouts, from getting hurt out there? It was so sudden Jimin backed down from it and Namjoon suddenly jumped in on the case... Along with Officer Riyu.

The two reached Namjoon's room and knocked before stepping in. Seeing the dispatcher trying to fix the broken remote control he just so happened to break as he sat there on the hospital with a hospital gown over his bandaged, gun shot wound. The man looked okay, yet a little tired and miserable for sitting on that hospital bed for a while in solitude. Namjoon then rose his head up and looked at the two who came to visit him along with his hermit crab in it's cage.

"Oh! Chief, Jungkook! I'm so happy to see you both! My crab is doing much better, he's missed me, hasn't he?" Namjoon asked so happily as he had his hands out to accept his crab.

"It's your first day here and you're already breaking things. Why am I not surprised?" Jimin let out a laugh to lighten up the mood as he walked over to the older and handed him the glass cage.

"When I got shot, I made sure I turned and laid on my back because I didn't want my hermit crab's cage to shatter and have him leave! I would feel so hurt." Namjoon claimed and looked up at Jimin who had his eyes puffy from figuring out that one of his close friends were shot, but survived after. "Ah, you don't have to cry. I know you must be piling this on yourself. You really aren't the one to blame. No one is. Just those gang members. We were so close to finding the gang member's base..." Namjoon then signed and rested his hand over the bed to push a button and sit up on his hospital bed.

"I'm glad you're doing okay, so... Do you remember anything?" Jimin wondered as Namjoon looked over at Jungkook and then down at his crab cage. "Hm... No." Just then, Jungkook walked up to the other side of the hospital bed and singed to the older.

'Any bad news? When will you be back at the station?' Jungkook signed quickly with Namjoon and threw the Chief off.

"About that... I think, I'll be here until recovery and until I can get use to traveling around in a wheelchair..." Namjoon claimed and looked up at Jimin. Jimin felt horrible and just stood there in silence from the issues he believed he caused.

"W-Wheel chair? How long do you have to use it?" Jimin wondered. Hoping it wasn't permanent.

"About... Four months or so?" Namjoon thought and shrugged. "That bullet shot through a nerve connected to the function of my legs. But I was lucky this wasn't permanent! Ah, I just can't wait to go home and take care of my hermit crabs. They must miss me!" Namjoon laughed as he laid back on the hospital bed. "That sucks... I only have my hermit crabs waiting for me at home. It's true what they say. 'Money can't buy happiness' and I agree. I think I'm going to die alone." Joked the older while Jimin let out a chuckle and shook his head.

"No you won't! Someone will come to you and only then, you'll find happiness. That's what you told me a while back." Jimin added and pulled a smile.

"Did you find your happiness yet?" Namjoon wondered and looked at Jungkook before focusing his stare at Jimin. "Ah, but you'll find it before me. I'll be alone for four more months. No one wants a handicapped man. Maybe because I'm a bit more wealthy they'll fall for me easily." Namjoon complained and scoffed into a smile while he looked at his hermit crab cage. "...add that to the many reasons why I'm so lonely.."

"Don't think like that! You'll find someone.." Jimin told Namjoon and walked up to him and gave him a quick hug. "You may be paralyzed on your legs temporarily, but you'll find love. I promise." Jimin continued to cheer up the injured dispatcher. Namjoon knew Jimin blamed himself over everything so, he had to step in and remind Jimin that it wasn't his fault.

"I know what you're doing... You're taking the blame. Don't. Jungkook accidentally dropped coffee on the laptop and you were left with nothing to do... The one to blame here is... Well? I say no one is at fault except for the gang members, but Sehiro was the one that blew our cover. Yelling over something so stupid..."

"What?" Jimin asked in confusion as he stepped back and gazed at the older who sat there, locking his gaze at the hermit crab once more. Even Jungkook was surprised to hear this too. "What was it?"

"Jealousy. He was upest because I began to think that maybe the two of you had something going on. But don't worry, I was only thinking up random things that morning. I was really sleepy." Confessed the older as Jimin kept staring at the dispatcher to hear more. "So, he got upset. Now that I think of it... That was a stupid thing to get mad about. Isn't he married?" Namjoon wondered and placed his hand over his wound and cleared his throat as he looked over at Jungkook. "All because he got jealous of the thought... My injury took place. He knew we had to be quiet. Yet, he wasn't quiet and he shouted!" Namjoon continued and looked back up at Jungkook. Checking if the boy had anything to sign.

'What are you trying to say, RM?' Jungkook signed in a question by tilting his head and shrugging his shoulders to know.

"I'm saying, why didn't they go after him? Out of all the people... Why not him? He was the one in uniform, I wasn't. He was the driver. I wasn't. He chose where to park HIS car. I didn't...and the most important one of them all, why did he offer to take my crab, claiming he was the fastest. Since when did he suddenly care about my little crab?" Namjoon thought and kept staring at the detective. Trying to make sure he answers what Jungkook had to sign while he slowly started to tear up. "If it was him behind all of this.. Why me..? Is he trying to reach someone through me...?"
