Chapter 17: Suspicions
Jimin left the detective alone outside the office as Officer Riyu followed after the Chief. Jimin couldn't help but to think that his Officer had something to say about Jungkook. Officer Riyu wasn't a very happy and kind guy to everyone at work. He was only kind towards Jimin because at the end of the day, he knew Jimin was the Chief he could trust. He was there for the man from the start of his job. His best friend and easily grew a little upset when Namjoon or either Jungkook was around him. Officer Riyu was as bad as Jimin. Not trusting everyone and most criminals knew him as the Chief's favorite.
The handsome and young looking Officer walked into Jimin's office and looked out the window's blinds to see Jungkook was just standing there at the center of the lobby. Staring at the office and patiently waiting for Jimin. The Chief walked to his desk and sat down on the office chair while he set his briefcase down. "Tell me, Sehiro... What's on your mind?" Jimin asked with a smile as he gazed at the younger after.
"I've done a little digging." The officer claimed as Jimin rose a brow. "Hear me out, Jimin. I heard there are rumors of a gang that wanders around that neighborhood where that murder was committed! They use katanas and weapons like that to commit the crimes! That could be them who murdered the man!" Officer Riyu claimed while Jimin folded his arms and laid back on the chair.
"We don't know that it could actually be a Katana... That was just a guess we took. How did you know about this gang?" Jimin asked as the man cleared his throat.
"R-Remember when I did my service here? I learned there were gangs starting to spawn from every part of Busan. These were just rumors I've heard while doing military work. You know.. I needed to become a permanent resident here by it and marrying my wife here could seal it." Officer Riyu claimed while Jimin kept his stare at the older.
"Gang.... I'll keep that in mind. Okay? You do make a good claim on that one. I guess I'll have to look into it." Jimin said as he brought out a piece of paper. "They often wander around that area? You make good points. How do you even find these? You aren't part of that gang are you?~" Jimin teased while the officer chuckled.
"You always ask me that when I give you good evidence." Officer Riyu claimed while he looked out the window to still see Jungkook standing out there and staring at the office. Wanting to see Jimin now. "Chief, I love you and everything... But, that boy is giving me the creeps. Is he really your permanent Detective?"
"Jeon Jungkook. My favorite little guy. Yes he is." Jimin answered while the Officer mouthed the words in repeat before saying it out loud.
"F-Favorite?" The man asked as Jimin started to laugh. "What's so funny?"
"Sehiro, you can't always be my favorite! You said it yourself. You have your wife and I have my partner." Claimed the Chief as he set the paper he wrote the street address down on his desk.
"I thought I was your favorite?"
"You could still be my favorite. Favorite Officer. You stand in line like anyone else. Namjoon is my favorite Dispatcher, Jungkook is my favorite Detective... That's all." Jimin stated with a smile as the Officer brushed his black silk hair to the side.
"You're playing with me now. I'm still your closest friend! Closer to you than Namjoon or that kid... I know a lot about you and I help you. I'm still your favorite Officer! There's nothing else to me... Just an officer..." Sehiro added as Jimin looked at the older and then tilted his head to peek out the window and see the younger still standing there and waiting.
"Hm.. So is that all you wanted to say? My Detective can get really clingy." Jimin said. Almost like he was trying to get back at the man by mentioning Jungkook to him a lot.
"RM told me the two of you went drinking last night... Is it true? I remember we used to do that before..." Said Sehiro as he clenched his fist gently behind his back.
"Before you told me you'd get married. Then you did and we weren't very close after. Ah, you're wasting my time. I'll see you at the woman's house. I need to discuss plans with Jungkook." Jimin added before walking up to the man and patting his back. "Don't worry, I can pair you up with RM if you'd like? He likes to jump in on these types of cases. You'll love him!"
"I don't like the dispatcher! He brought me coffee with an ice cube! He wants to kill me! He even managed to dismantle a gun! I don't know how... But he does these things and he might be out to get me." Said the man, causing Jimin to laugh out of nowhere. "Jimin! It's true! Just last night, he started looking at pictures of crabs and I got creeped out!"
"Oh, Sehiro. You really are something aren't you? That's how he is! I should pair you both up so you could know that RM is such a nice guy. He likes crabs! Talk to him about that or take him to the beach?"
"I'm not giving him a crab. He might kill it with one touch." Bickered the officer as Jimin placed his hands on the older's shoulders and looked at him.
"Don't say that. You were against him ever since he stepped up from dispatch and became Chief while I was in a coma. Ah, Go talk to him. You barely get to see him because he's always working at the offices for dispatch. You should be his partner now. You're my favorite but I don't think jealousy could get you to be my only favorite." Jimin told the man and looked up at him. Just then, Jungkook suddenly pulled the door open and stepped in to look at Jimin placing his hands on the Officer's shoulders. The boy took this out of context. He looked down and slowly made his way to the desk in embarrassment as Officer Riyu resumed glaring at Jungkook for walking in on a moment like this.
Jimin pulled his hands away and shoved the Officer back before he made a laugh. "Stop staring at my detective like that. Go to your post. I'll meet with you at the woman's house." Jimin said while Sehiro gazed at Jimin before backing up and leaving without saying another word. But Jimin of course felt the tension of the Officer's glares at Jungkook. This left the silent prince to look down in discomfort and a little bit upset because he felt like he wasn't wanted. Jungkook was a sensitive boy and having someone against him made him feel troubled. Especially when the man liked Jimin more. But not him.
"Hey, Detective! Officer Riyu gave me some good pointers!" Jimin claimed as Jungkook walked over to his own desk and sat down to gaze up at Jimin before pulling out his phone to communicate.
Jimin picked his phone up and looked at the messages Jungkook sent and this made the man make a frown as he looked up at Jungkook. "Jungkook..? How could I even kiss a married man? Do you really think that's what I was doing here? Huh... You really don't trust me around my own Officer. What is this jealousy, Detective Jeon?" Jimin asked while Jungkook stood up and started to type down an answer while Jimin knew deep down that the boy was going to touch onto the subject of the kiss.
"Detective... If it's about the kiss, I don't want to read it." Jimin added while Jungkook glared up at Jimin and suddenly tossed his phone aside and cupped his face like a stubborn child. Of course, this was the only way Jungkook could express his feelings. Jimin could hear the boy huff out of anger. He wanted to go up to the boy and tell him to stop, but Jungkook felt upset he couldn't have a say at something he felt happy about. In his head, if he couldn't talk.. His opinion didn't matter and this was what got to him the most.
"Jungkook... Stop it.." Jimin said while Jungkook kept cupping his face. Jimin walked over to the phone Jungkook tossed carelessly while he picked it up to see that the screen was cracked now. "See? You cracked your phone because you wanted to be stubborn. I said leave what we do back at that room. Don't drag it over here at work." Jimin argued with the boy while Jungkook just wished he could say something but all he could do was tear up and shake his head. Not wanting to let go of the kiss and brush it off like it was nothing.
Jimin stepped up the boy and placed the phone down on the desk as Jimin folded his arms and looked at Jungkook. "I tell you not to mention it because I don't want everyone to find out. Once it's out, you could get killed and I can't have you hurt out there. You're my detective... Not some sacrifice. Jungkook listen to me." Jimin claimed but Jungkook cried to himself while Jimin was forced to pull the boy's hands from his face and looked at the tears that shed from the Prince's big round eyes. "I said listen!" Jimin rose his voice while Jungkook felt absolutely scared by just looking at Jimin like this.
"When will you get it through your head...? Get it through your smart head that something so beautiful like this can't happen?" Jimin asked as Jungkook made scowl before starting to move around to break free. Just then, Jimin pressed the boy's hands against the wall behind them and pierced his gaze at him. "Jungkook let me talk to you! I'm not trying to hurt you... But losing you to a bullet or a knife is the worst torture I could put myself through. I don't know what I feel for you but I want to put those flames out before a wildfire starts..." Jimin said as he kept Jungkook's hands against the wall to keep him still. "Jungkook... You're my detective... I can't lose you. We should appreciate what ever position we have now." Jimin continued.
The detective remained silent as he still tried to break free from Jimin's grip, but the boy couldn't and this made him start to struggle and tear up even more. He didn't want to stay silent about the kiss and just forget it. But Jimin only did this to protect him from every criminal out there who was already against the Chief. Jimin was willing to give up falling in love so he wouldn't risk losing the one he treasured. "Do you understand now...? How I can't lose you or can't love you if I ever see you that way...?" Jimin questioned the boy once more while Jungkook looked at his Chief once more and exhaled. Looking down to the ground and nodded his head. Knowing he had no other choice but to accept this thought he was against.
Jungkook felt like something was there... But, there couldn't be if Jimin kept pushing it away to keep his detective safe. Out of everything, Jungkook appreciated that Jimin wanted to treasure him and not have the boy get killed for some innocent love they we're to ever hold for each other. The silent prince wasn't in on it, yet he had to accept it so Jimin wouldn't stress losing his detective to any bullet that had Jungkook's name engraved all over it.
