Chapter 10: Sensitive

Jimin opened the small box that held his hamburger and took it out. The hamburger had melted cheese in between, grilled and juicy meat, lettuce, tomato slices, round onions, ketchup in between the melted cheese, toasted and sesame seed bread with pickles within the stack and crispy bacon to finish off the mouthwatering burger. This came with a large box order of hot and crispy salted fries, and cold, refreshing coca-cola to wash it down. Jimin ordered the same meal for Jungkook. The older just had white and cold, creamy ice-cream with sweet cocoa chocolate syrup drizzled over it. As for Jungkook, Jimin ordered him a medium sized chocolate milkshake with whipped cream over the top of the beverage.

"Here, if you need anything, tell me." Jimin said as he handed the younger his phone back. Starting to eat as Jungkook left his phone there and began to eat his burger and the fries too. "Do you want anything..?"

Jungkook smiled at Jimin and shook his head while he resumed eating with Jimin during the time they were seated. Jimin completely forgot he had to go out and investigate the crime scene with Jungkook after. "You know, the more you keep doing this, you'll be at risk of getting fired..." Jimin told the boy and by now, Jungkook was done eating his hamburger after a while. "I might not fire you, but my father can track down your progress and mine. If he finds out you haven't been working, then, you'll get fired. You can't do this every day. We need to focus on work. Not sitting together and eating." Jimin told the younger while Jungkook nodded his head and listened to the man.

The Chief looked at this as a nice way of bonding. He never thought anything between them would click, but Jungkook was there eating and nodding his head with any yes or no questions Jimin would ask him. "How... many criminal cases did you solve?" Jimin wondered while Jungkook placed his box of French fries down and held up three fingers. "Three... That's nice. I can't really keep track on how much I've done." Jimin told the younger and finished off eating his Burger while he looked at the boy. "I'll be honest with you.. I wish you could be more cooperative. No offense, but if I can't talk to you, how do you expect us to click? I feel like we have so much in common... But, I don't see it in a mute boy... How could you be my partner like this?" Jimin told the boy while Jungkook looked at his phone and back at Jimin who was already eating his fries while looking around and waiting for the boy to type an answer.

Jimin read the boy's answers in his head silently as he finally gazed up to see that the boy was close to crying and this made Jimin flinch in panic. "H-Hey.. I never said I was going to fire you, Jungkook..." Jimin told the boy while Jungkook started to cup his own face and cry into his hands silently. Only allowing his breaths to be heard. "You're making a scene..." Jimin whispered and stood up to walk over to Jungkook with a napkin as he started to dry Jungkook's glistening tears he shed on the matter. "I... I was just being honest... I'm sorry..." Jimin told the young detective.

Jimin never knew that the detective was this sensitive. Jungkook seemed to be like this happy and somewhat tough boy, yet, he broke down when he couldn't take in the judgements. Jimin just wished he was aware of the boy's sensitivity on this subject before he confronted the boy on this issue. The older dried Jungkook's tears and kept his hand on the boy's cheek to position his face up so he could be the one that dried those tears. "I'm sorry, Jungkook. I didn't mean it..." Jimin continued as few people began to look at the two.

The younger silenced his sobs and moved Jimin's hands away from drying his tears. By now, he understood that he harmed the detective and made him feel bothered about being mute. It wasn't his choice and Jimin was just a tough nut to crack when it comes to having sympathy like this. "I said I'm sorry.. Okay? Ah, Jungkook... Please don't cry.." Jimin said as the boy stood up and wiped his own tears while looking down at his food like he lost his appetite. "Jungkook..." Jimin said calmly while the boy cupped his face again. Rethinking of all those mean things that Jimin told him before and how it echoed within his head. He admired the man as a great Chief and leader... Not someone who would look down at him for having a disability.

Jimin looked at the boy as he let out a sigh, removing the boy's hands from his face and bringing him into a hug while Jungkook stopped his sniffles and felt the older hug him in front of everyone. "I said I'm sorry, Jungkook. How many times do I have to say it? I didn't think you would feel sad if I just shared my thoughts..." Jimin told the boy. Trying to cheer him up. He didn't even want to pull away until the tears dried on their own from Jungkook's eyes. It wasn't long after until Jimin felt the younger raise his hands up along Jimin's shoulders and held him closer into the hug.

"Okay... This is embarrassing..." Jimin thought while he felt the slightest uncomfort from everyone staring, while Jungkook was enjoying every second. He enjoyed hugging the Chief close. He felt warm in the slightest cold from the vent above them, making the place a bit chilly. But in Jimin's arms, he felt happy and his tears dried. Causing a smile to emerge from his frown. Jimin then broke the hug as Jungkook looked at him. Feeling a lot better. They exchanged nothing but silence as Jimin walked back to his seat and sat down to finish off his ice cream. Only Jungkook could tell the older held such a nice side to him. He only wished to see it often.

"Finish your milkshake already. We've wasted so much time here and we're getting stares now.. I can't handle it.." The older claimed. Jungkook then nodded his head while he sat down and looked at Jimin once more before grabbing a fry and dipping it into his milkshake and taking a bite out of it. This made the older look up and start to laugh. "What on earth are you doing, Jungkook?"

The boy made a smile to cover up the fact that he couldn't even male the soft laughs or even a bit of it. So the boy laughed through his childish gaze and smile that seemed to make Jimin look down. Jungkook then dipped another fry and offered it to Jimin. Feeding it to him as Jimin just couldn't refuse now. Jungkook seemed to hold a very childish personality when he'd play around and smile. This made Jimin feel like Jungkook really did have another story to be told even when he couldn't tell it through his own voice. Only his beautiful smile and emotions.

Without a word uttered from Jungkook's silent mouth, Jimin was able to take down what he knew about Jungkook so far. The young defective was oblivious, spontaneous, gleeful, smart and quick-witted. Jimin couldn't hide the fact that this boy made him smile and managed to slip through the cracks of his hard shell personality and to his soft side so easily. "How was this Detective so good at getting to the bottom of things?" Jimin thought while he looked at Jungkook with a smile after cheering the younger up from his sad breakdown after.

After eating together, Jimin stepped out of the place and looked back to make sure the younger followed. "I just realized... That wasn't even breakfast." Jimin commented as he looked back at the boy to shrug and pat his stomach to show that he enjoyed it anyways. This made Jimin understand some things from Jungkook without having the boy type it down or write. "Are you ready to head off to the crime scene now?" Asked the Chief to Jungkook. The boy smiled and nodded his head excitedly as response while Jimin only chuckled to himself. "Just don't hurl if you look at the body. You need to have a strong gut!"

Jungkook nodded his head again. Claiming that he was strong enough to eat and gaze at a cold and dead corpse. Since he was a detective, he knew he had to get use to gore or how messy a crime scene could be. He had to have a strong stomach like any other surgeon or butcher.

Soon, the two made it back to the crime scene while Officer Riyu was standing by the woman, giving off a testimony of what she found when she noticed that her husband was murdered within the house. Once the man turned his head to focus on Jimin, he folded his arms and gazed at the Chief and Detective run over to the scene.

"Chief! Where were you? It's been about twenty minutes since you left us here... That's very unprofessional to ditch a crime scene just to eat." The man fired. This officer was around his early thirties, still having his fair share of attractiveness and youth. He wore his black uniform with a tag on his left chest along with a wedding ring over his left ring finger. He was one of Jimin's best officers. Always looking out for the man so he wouldn't ever make another mistake with another crime investigation.

"I know, I know.. I'm sorry. Detective Jeon was hungry and he fainted when we got here..." Jimin told the officer as the woman looked up at the two. "Riyu, talk to Jungkook... What do you guys have so far?" Jimin asked for Jungkook while the younger carried his phone to note down what he could as the camera hung around his neck. Ready for him to take pictures of the crime scene.

"Alright... Turns out, the crime was committed around the early morning. I could say around five to six in the morning?" Officer Riyu predicted while Jungkook wrote it down as Jimin asked the questions.

"Why this hour?" Jimin asked for Jungkook like he was reading the boy's mind, but in reality, he was asking the real questions here.

"B-Because... I get out of my night shift job around seven. Before I could open the door to my house, I heard nothing but silence. Normally he would be listening to loud music because he can't really hear a thing. He was deaf and when he wants to hear music everyday, he'd put it on loud. That's why no neighbor could hear him shout or any destruction. I hesitated to open the door and... When I did... It was already done!" Cried the woman as she dried her tears with the tissue that was supplied to her by the paramedics.

"We'll bring you in for questioning after. Right now, we need to get that body out of here. Is there any chance of revival?" Jimin asked as one of the paramedics shook her head.

"No, Chief... His head was cut in two. We suggest you investigate the scene quickly before the news team gets here to poke their noses into the crime scene.. We don't want the public getting scared. Keep it on the low." The paramedic advised the Chief while she cleared her throat.

"W-Why isn't he saying anything about this? Isn't he a detective? He should be sharing thoughts and trying to help!" The older woman claimed while she still dried her tears. She was upset about her husband's death and by now, she was angry at almost anything. Going through the stages of grief. "What is he? Mute? Can there be any mute detectives?"

"Because, Miss... Detective Jeon is a mute." Jimin told the woman. Answering her questions on if Jungkook could be a detective. Cutting the conversation short. "Come on, we need to investgate." Jimin told the boy and patted his back before stepping in to the crime scene with Jungkook following along with his camera. Finally taking action in his work.
