A Good Night's Sleep
(Alice's POV)
When I opened my eyes, everyone was standing above me. I looked around, while slowly sitting up and rubbing my head.
"What happened? Are you okay?" Tate asked.
He was no longer holding the baby, Ali was.
"The baby, h-he took me to her. He showed me them. I seen the betrayer. He's the father of the babies," I said as my eyes met Tara and Emrick.
"That explains a lot of things," Emrick said.
"So, what do we do now?" Anna asked.
"Well, we will begin a search for them," Tara said.
"They no longer have an army. Kane is weak. Sophia and James can't hold us all off," Emrick said.
"That is true. Where do we start?" Ceciellia said.
"Alice... Can you describe the place? What did it look like?" Tara asked me.
"I-I don't remember. It was mostly all cement walls. I was only in one room," I said feeling useless.
"Do you think they could be...?" Tara asked Emrick.
"They could be," Emrick replied.
"What? Where is it?" I asked as I stood up.
"They could be in the tunnels. In one our our safe hideouts," Tara said as her eyes met mine.
"There's so many though. How would we find them?" Ceciellia asked.
"We search every one of them," Emrick said.
"Together, though. We can't take the chances of splitting up," Tara said while she looked at me.
"So, who is this betrayer anyway?" Anna asked as she looked down at the baby boy in her arms.
Everyone was now quiet. I exchanged glaces with all of the Immortals. They looked at each other.
"His name was James. The son of the previous protector. His mother died while giving birth to him. We thought we had raised him right, but somewhere inside he was corrupted," Raven said with a sigh.
"He wasn't corrupted. He was power hungry," Baldassare said.
"Well it looks like he succeeded in getting what he wanted," Damon said with a sigh.
"Not exactly," Tara said.
"To gain as much power as he seeks, he would have to share a blood bond with one of us," Emrick said as he motioned to the other Immortals.
"So you're saying Alice is more powerful than him?" Tate asked as he looked at me.
They were quiet.
"What?" I asked.
"You have as much power as we do. You are after all our child," Tara said as she placed her hand on my cheek.
"I don't understand," I said as I shook my head.
"You're not going to. Not yet anyway. You haven't reached your full potential," She said as she reached for my hand.
"How do I reach my full potential?" I asked.
"It will take a major event to bring you to full power," Emrick said as his eyes did a quick glance away.
"Like what?" I asked as I squinted my eyes at him.
"That's for you to figure out," Tara said with a sad look in her eyes.
"Oh great," I said as I let out a sigh.
"So, did he know about Alice?" Tate asked.
"Yes, he was there when she was born. Even though he was just a child himself. He was about 10 years old," Emrick said.
"That's probably why my brother was after you," Alex said.
"Which was another reason we had to send you away. It was to protect you. Everything that has happened since was meant to happen. It needed to happen," Tara said as she cupped my face.
I could feel the tears swelling in my eyes.
"What if I don't reach my full power, when it comes time to fight him?" I asked.
"We won't stop fighting," said Emrick.
"We are all in this together," Anna said with a smile, as she took my hand in hers.
I looked around at all the nodding and smiling faces of my friends. This was it. I was ready for this to end. To reach my full power, and put an end to this battle. To be able to live my life, without having to watch over my back all the time.
"Where do we start?" I asked with determination.
"We have a safe place in every state. I doubt they would stay here," Baldassare said.
This was going to be harder than I thought.
"Why dont we just call it a night, and pick this up tomorrow. We could all use some sleep to recover," Raven said.
"I agree, but where will everyone sleep?" Alex asked in confusion.
"I think I can help you with that," Salena said.
Everyone watched her as she stood up, and walked over to the closet. The room was silent once again. She began to whisper something under her breath, as she waved her hand over the door.
"I don't know how a closet is going to help," Damon said.
"It's not just a closet anymore," Salena said as she opened the door.
Behind the door, was a hallway that had several other doors attached.
"I didn't know you could do that," Tate said as he narrowed his eyes.
"There's a lot your mother can do. I've just been holding back, but I'm just so tired, and my magic is seeping out of me," She said with a sad smile.
"I call dibs on first pick," Damon said as he patted Alex's back.
Using his vampire speed, he rushed through the hallway. It wasn't until he was half way down the hallway, that he stopped and picked the room he wanted.
"It has a waterbed," He said with a laugh.
We all laughed at him, as everyone filed into the hallway.
"Wait someone has to take first watch," Alex said as he stopped walking.
"We will," Tara said as she looked at Emrick with a half smile.
"Well that's settled. Im ready to catch some Z's," Damon said, as he held the door open for Rain.
"Good night everyone," Ceciellia said before disappearing into thin air.
I looked at Tate, and he smiled at me.
"She went to her room," He explained.
"I guess I should probably go find myself a room," I said as I walked towards the hallway.
Just then Tate grabbed my hand. I looked back at him.
"You could... Sleep in my room. If you wanted that is," He said as he rubbed the back of his neck nervously.
I looked over at Tara and Emrick, who were sitting on the couch. It seemed like they were waiting to see what I'd say.
"I thought you'd never ask," I said with a smile.
"Oh, no you don't," Emrick said as he stood up.
"Oh Em. Shes not a little girl anymore," Tara said as she winked at me.
"To me she is," He said as he sat back down and crossed his arms.
I looked back at Tate.
"I'll meet you in your room give me a minute," I said with a half smile.
Tate kissed my hand, before saying good night to Tara and Emrick. I took a deep breath to prepare me for what happens next. Once I was ready, I turned to face the only other two people in the room.
"Alice," Tara said.
I walked up to them, and wrapped my arms around both of them. In that moment, all I wanted to do was cry. Not because I was sad, but because I could feel the love and connection I had with them. It was as strong as the love I had felt for the woman who had raised me as her own.
In their arms, I felt at home. There was a hole in my chest that had finally felt as if it had been filled for the first time in five years. There was so much I wanted to ask and talk about. I felt a single tear escape my closed eyes.
I felt two hands wrap around me, one hand running through my hair. When I pulled away, I looked deeply into their eyes. Their beautiful eyes. My mother, my real mother, had the most beautiful blue eyes. It was as if I was looking into the ocean or a clear sky. My father's eyes were a bright green that almost glowed. Ones that reminded me of Tate.
But together I could see myself in both of them. Things I hadn't seen in the woman who had raised me. I had my mother's beautiful blue eyes. My father's cheek bones and smile. My mother's nose and face shape.
To think that 5 years ago I hadn't even known I was something more than a human. Something with great potential. I went from being a shy girl who always went unnoticed, to a magnificent creature. One born out of true love and purity.
I could feel the smile forming on my face. In this moment, I felt happier than ever before. Being held in their arms, and knowing that I had come from them, brought me a rush that was unexplainable.
In this moment, I knew what I had to do. I had to fight. Fight to live. Fight to be able to get to know my parents. Fight to be a part of their world.
"We love you so much, Alice. No matter what happens. We will get through this," Tara said as a tear streaked down her face.
I wanted to say the words back. I know I felt the same towards them. Shakily, the words passed through my lips.
"I love you both, too," I said.
"Go get some rest. We'll watch the baby," Emrick said as he kissed my forehead.
"Good night my sweet, Alice," Tara said as she kissed my hands.
I smiled before turning around, and headed to Tate's room. Quietly, I opened his door. I peaked through the crack, only to find him standing in the middle of the room. He was using his magic to clean his room. I laughed to myself, and shook my head. I had never seen him use his magic like this before.
He either heard me or sensed my presence, because the books and blue prints he was moving dropped to the floor and he turned around. I stepped forward and shut the door behind me. I smiled at him, and he smiled back. There was something about that smile that I loved so much. He bent down to pick up the blueprints and books. I kneeled in front of him, and he looked up at me.
I was scared and excited at the same time. Overwhelmed with an adrenaline rush. This had been something I had waiting so long to do. I pulled him into a kiss. It was the most passionate kiss I'd ever had. I didn't want to stop.
We dropped what we were doing and stood up. I had pushed him slowly back towards his bed. When the back of his knees hit the bed, I pushed him onto it. I straddled his lap, and kissed him again, while running my fingers through his hair. Suddenly, I could feel myself slowly turning. I couldn't control it. He pulled away, when my fang pierced his lip.
"I'm sorry," I said as I wiped the blood away with my finger and licked it.
"Don't be," He said.
Just as I went to kiss him again, he stopped me. I looked at him in confusion.
"I don't want to hurt you," He said as he shook his head.
"I know you won't," I said.
"I don't know though. It scares me. What I did... I couldn't live with myself if I did that to you," He said as he looked away.
"That wasn't me. This is me," I said as I turned his head to face me.
"Alice," He said before I cut him off.
"This is what I want," I said as I nodded my head.
"Ok... First I have to do something," He said before standing up.
I sat on the edge of his bed, and watched as he ran his fingers along the frame of his bedroom door.
"Sound proofed the room. I don't want to take the chance of someone hearing. Especially not your parents," He said with a nervous laugh.
It felt so weird hearing him say that, but I agreed. I watched as he slowly walked towards me. He scooped my up in his arms, and laid me down in the middle of his bed. I wrapped my legs around his waist, as he began to kiss me. His lips traveled to my neck.
I could feel his breath on my neck. It sent chills down my spine, causing me to shudder. I ran my fingers up his back. When I did that, I could feel his scars, but that didn't bother me.
I took off his shirt, and admired the body I had only seen covered in blood or fur. He lifted up my shirt, and kissed the scar where the sword had pierced my abdomen. As he kissed my scar, he slid my pants and undies down. Caressing my legs, as he made his way back up to my face.
Face to face. Nose to nose. Looking into those eyes I thought I'd never see again. I pulled him down into a hard kiss. While we were kissing, I unbuttoned his pants and he slid them off as well as his boxers. I sat up so he could unstrapping my bra. After it was unbuttoned, I threw it aside.
His skin felt so soft against mine. Feeling his skin against my cold body, sent a warmth all over me.
"Are you sure?" He asked again.
I nodded my head and smiled at him. He was gentle at first, and I gasped in pleasure. I never closed my eyes, this was something I didn't want to miss. He stared back into mine. I gripped the bed sheets as his pace sped up. As he gripped the headboard for support, I wrapped my legs around his waist.
It felt like hours of intense pleasure. Just as we both peaked in pleasure, Tate let out a howl as he lifted his head. He gave a few more powerful pumps, and I could feel the bed slowly breaking below us. When he looked down at me, I could see his eyes glowing an intense green color. I could see my reflection in his pupils. My eyes were glowing purple.
When the bed fell to the floor, I could feel Tate's body tense up. His muscles growing bigger, as if he was about to change. But he didn't. He forced his claws and fangs back into their places.
We were both panting, eyes locked together. I smiled at him, before we were interlocked in a kiss. He rolled over next to me, and I cuddled up to him. With my head on his chest, I could hear his heart was racing. He started to laugh. I looked up at him with confusion.
"I'm going to need a new bed," He said with a smile.
"How are we going to explain this to your grandma?" I asked as I bit my lip.
"We don't," He said.
I watched as his hand grabbed for something on the floor. When he pulled his hand back up, I seen that he had a pack of baby wipes. He handed me a few. I took them, as I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Its been a lonely 5 years," He said with a chuckle.
I smiled and shook my head, as I wiped myself. After I felt clean, I threw them away in the trash can on my side of the bed. We continued to lay there holding each other in silence. His heart beat started to settle. When I looked up, I seen that he was asleep. I covered us up, and nestled my head against his chest once more.
That's when he wrapped his arms around me. I could feel myself slowly drifting off into a deep sleep. Hopefully I'm able to get a good night's sleep.
