Long ago there was a beautiful world but under the water was amazing. There lived a mermaid named kari .on her 10 birthday as soon as she bit in the coral she heard loud noise the a mermaid yelled "help oil spill " it wal a mess oil was everywhere and mermaids and mermen swimming for their life's "kari , kari where are you " karis mother yelled while looking for her a plastic bag went over her head she couldn't breathe kari saw her mother and tryed to help her but it was to tight and kari's mom died in her arms the chemicals poison the rest of the mermaids when she escaped she lost everyone she knew and loved to the plastic and chemicals. plasics also killed almost all sea life the water . The water was brown and nasty she was alone for months she was looking for someone anyone she was starving and was sick .Most sea animals died form all the plastic but one whale named wave her parents died for the oil spill too . They stuck together and they swam far and wide they soon got hungry wave found a large group of shrimp went to eat some but when she swallowed the shrimp she also swallowed a 2 litter plastic soda bottle she choked on it kori tryed to save her but like her mom wave died after a month of crying after she the fish told her about The other oil spills and plastic in the water Kari had no where safe to go . A week went by and Kari was sucked in a storm along with plastic bags and bottles a plastic bag went over her head she was lucky to get it off she almost died . a human found Kari and put her in a tank for people to see her. she learned how to speak like them and told them her struggle. The humans where so moved by her story . That They did something she never thought she would see . People of a group known as the mermaid squad started to clean the sea. she knows it could take years to do this . But They gave her hope to help them the cleaning humans built boats that was sucking the plastic out of the water . It took 80 years to clean the entire ocean but they did it . To keep this from happening again Kari made a underwater houses for humans to live in so they could see how beautiful the ocean was that keeps water out but air in . People learned and passed a law that made it illegal to dispose of plasics in rivers , lakes, and oceans . A year had past and more sea animals where born Kari fell in love with a merman with the same struggle she went through they had three kids and they tell their kids this story greatful that the the ocean is cleaner place to live in for future generations to live in
