Chapter 1: Found
It has been weeks that Blaze has traveled. The fire spirit is exhausted, but his determination to find Allison has only risen. So far, traveling the direct way to his destination was near-impossible, as many Mists and other darker creatures were looking around for something as well. He had to lead them off for many days before heading over to where he believes, no, knows where Allison is.
Blaze had to keep up his hopes for his own self esteem. He has already camped a few times, as he doesn't really need to sleep much, but he sometimes couldn't move after a few days of pure energy runs, and he would just drop down at night, burn out, and sleep. Then regain his energy from the sun and keep on running, for days and nights.
By the time he was almost there, he had to stop.
Ahead of him was a large field, clear of any trees. On the fields were many creatures of Musiphan, being put to use by Mists and corrupted Spirits. The creatures, like Kalikus and Kilajaes, and smaller dragons are being used to plow the fields and make structures on them.
Kalikus are large rabbit like creatures, but they also carry traits of dragons that many believe that they were once related, but have taken a different rout. They range from colors of green, black, yellow, grey, red, and orange.
Kilajaes are reptilian like creatures, and some mistake them for cousins of dragons. However, their body's are sturdier, and more stout in comparison to a dragon. They do not have wings, they have four legs, and their tails are very powerful. They are either grey or a different range of brown. Their eyes can change color corresponding to their mood. All of their eyes, as far as Blaze can see, are a really deep red, or a dull grey color as well.
The dragons are what they sound like, but they were bred for heavy work, and the few that aren't are the ones the Blood Wolves go after. All their wings are bound to their bodies, and their claws are very dull with all the ground work. Most of them are a dull color, from the dirt, and the negligence of nutrients for their own scales.
Blaze frowned and looked around the busy field. Many Mists were around, carrying weapons and wearing armour. There were two nearby, holding a few Blood Wolves on chains and rounding them up to bite any creature that starts to slow down their work.
Sometimes a Mist will "accidentally" let loose a chain, and the Blood Wolf would go and attack anything nearby. They would kill it in the end, but what is one Blood Wolf death with the death of almost five creatures.
Blaze also noticed a few things he hasn't seen before. Large white monsters with lots of fur and dark spikes along their head and back. Their eyes are light blue, dark blue, or black. Their claws are very rough, and made for gripping something other than the ground below them. Blaze guessed they are from the north, as they are obviously over heating in the hot sun. If panting and fainting in the fields at the mercy of the Blood Wolves isn't enough of a hint, then the very large amounts of fur is.
Blaze reached for his sword, thinking he can save all of them, until he spotted the leader of this operation.
A larger Mist, with purple and silver armour is patrolling the field. A few mists follow them, guarding and occasionally trading messages before scattering. Besides, this mist, which seemed a dark grey color, radiated some sort of power. A presence about themselves that seems to show significantly. Their face is covered with a skull that looks like it belongs to a human.
Blaze gazed around the field. There were too many to take on, and he has to reach his destination quicker. But he doesn't want to leave all of these guys helpless. He leaned back, and looked slightly to the chains. Each one connecting to a shackle of another creature.
Blaze's eyes glint with an idea. Unsheathing his sword, he moves cautiously around, being careful to not set his sword on fire, as it is very flammable in his grasp. He approached a longer chain of the weird monsters he saw, with the white fur, and noticed that one seemed younger and smaller than the others. It refused to leave the larger ones out of sight. But the Mists keep forcing it to work.
Blaze smirked at seeing the Mists by themselves. There were only four, he can take four. Two of them didn't seem as if they were paying attention. Knealing down into a bush, he reached out for a nearby chain, then, he gently tugged it. It caused the smallest one to look up from digging, and to their chain.
Blaze smiled at seeing them bite at their shackles, then tug another chain of the elder ones. They stopp to investigate the tugging, and eventually, the two mists that were not paying attention, were knocked onto their backs because of the chain tripping them.
The two other Mists growled to their brothwrs, and Blaze took this moment to strike! He sprinted to the two Mists, who were preoccupied, snd slashed at their backs with his flaming blade. They both hiss, and disappear ijn air as they die, dropping armour pieces as well.
Blaze turned just in tkme to block an attack from a Mist that got up, this one was now a bright red colour, and clearlgg very angry. Hissing, the spoke, "So you think youj can defeat all of us in one quick slash? We outnumber you, a hundred to one. Be sure whether or not you stay on your little Rebellion side." And the Mist pushed back with his blade, causing Blaze to stumble a bit.
The spirit caught his footing and charged to the red Mist, then slashed upwards against their leg. They hiss and strike back in a furh of blows, that Blaze had to block, and eventually, he rolled back to get out of the way. The second Mist has gotten up, and was running towards the larger field.
Blaze hoisted his sword upward, and threw it to the Mist. It landed just behind them, but the ground cajght ablaze, and the Mist disappeared as the armour melted. Blaze ran to retrieve his weapon, but the red Mist knocked him down. Under the weight of the armour, Blaze could only wince as he felt the cold metal blade against his neck.
The Mist laughed, "Did you really think you could defeat us? We have the power to win this war, and your little Rebellion will be crushed under our forces." They taunt, "Shame, you were a good fighter, and a trickster, but we don't tolerate that." They add. Suddenly, the weight was lifted off of Blaze, and he saw the Mist give a hiss, before something crushed their armour, and they disintergrated.
Blaze quickly got up, and saw someone unexpscted. The smaller white beast had broken their chains and attacked the Mist by impaling a dark stone into their chest. The spike on the head has gone missing, and there is only a rough stump left.
Blaze sprinted to pick up his sword, and retreat back to the beasts, cutting each link of chains for all of them. He thanked them in English and his common language, Alwightt. The beasts growl silently until the last chain has been cut, and theh all run to the forest.
The smallest one stops moving though, and looks to Blaze, and he knealed down to them, breathing heavy. "Little one, I shall call you Yika, but you must stay with your family. Tell others about the Rebellion, and let them join to our cause for peace and harmony."
The small monster gave a squeak, which he laughed at, and they hurried back to their herd, traveling north.
Blaze sighed and looked at the rest of the field. There are plenty of others still here. And fighting those Mists took a lot of energy out of him. He taps his head in thought.
"Perhaps I can be of assistance." A female voice said behind him. He turned and lowered his sword.
A spirit, but not an ordinary one, a Life Spirit, was standing there. Her skin was a strong oak tree, and her head was covered in leaves. Vines were wrapped around her body, as well as cloth. What intrigued him was that she stood with confidence, wielding a dagger of silver, and nothing more.
"How so?" Blaze asked, curious.
The life spirit spoke again, "They might have dug out most of the trees in this field, but they have not realized that there are still seeds around. Seeds of rather dangerous flowers, berries, and leaves." She gave a small smile, "For the Rebellion, I am willing to sacrifice my strength to keep them slowed."
Blaze put his sword in his sheath, "Can I get your name?"
The Life Spirit stood straight, "I am Kaolie, Sister of the Hermone cult." She had a title, and that one seemed simple for Blaze to remember, "I am Blaze. I will remember your name."
He thought for a moment, "If you have others willing to fight for the Rebellion, and yoh have enough energy left, I will send yohh a letter. It will be here, on a full moon." He says, smiling.
Kaolie nodded, and raised her hands, "You must leave now. The growing is quick, and my sisters are helping me grow this empty, barren place, into a forest that no Mist can handle."
Blaze appreciated the help, he walked to her and put their foreheads together, "May the stars watch over you and your sisters." He says, and takes a step back, before turning to run.
As he got further away, he could faintly hear the Mists screaming from the poisons, and the rest of the creatures running around to escape. He now concentrated on the path ahead, onwards to the place that means the most to him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She opened her eyes.
She was staring at a canopy above her, lying on the hard ground. The leaves block the sun, but most of the sunlight has already reached the floor. A small breeze passes by, shaking the leaves and revealing white, fluffy clouds in the bright blue sky.
She sat up, confused. She has no idea where she is, or even who she is. She looks down at her body. Or, what she is.
She is wearing a soft green shirt, and pants made of a leathery material. Her feet are bare, and she wiggles her ten toes in curiosity. She holds out her hands. The arms are slightly tanned but are still fair. The nails are dirty but not that much. She feels her head, and was surprised at the softness of something.
Carefully, she holds her hand out, holding the softness. The strands of soft hair was silver. She brought a larger clump of it to her vision, and most of it was silver, but a part of it was a bright purple color. She felt along her head again, frowning as she felt two unidentifiable objects on her head. She can't pull it to see, since it feels attatched to her head.
She put her hand to her face, and felt the soft skin. She doesn't know how it is soft. She doesn't even remember where she came from.
She slowly stood, her legs slightly wobbily, and something pressed against her back. She took a hold of it, and brought the object in front of her.
It was a long, dark tail. She let go of it, and it pressed against her back again. She knows it is hers, but she doesn't know how it got there. Stumbling, she moved forward to what seemed like an opening between the trees' leaves. She pushed it apart, and her heart stopped.
Gazing out, she found herself high above any tree. The slightly cloudy sky, bright with the sun shinjng brightly for the day. The wind was stronger out here, and there are some birds flying around. The forest below must be average sized trees, but the only tallest tree around is the one she is in. Faintly, she could see some very distant mountains around this place. A glittering circle in a clearing seems to be a pond.
She felt herself being in awe as she stared at this. The enviroment seems so peaceful. She feels like exploring.
Now she looks down and frowns at the height. She isn't sure on how to get down anyway. She wasn't even sure on how she got up there anyway. Climbing?
She took a step back, and sat on the ground. She felt the tail moving around.
She guessed she'll wait.
