10.
The class silenced as I entered through classroom. My mind a haze as I walked towards my seat.
"Why the heck are you still wearing your earrings?" Ashor whispered into my ears startling me.
"You gotta problem with me?" I asked back challenging him in a tone, daring him to say another words.
Silence, surrounded us and I didn't dare to break it.
"Well, why were roaming in the school last night?" His next words made my breath hitch. My head slowly turned around to see him, my eyes narrowing at him.
"What do you mean?" I asked with my heart leaping out of my rib, only if I haven't had serious resting face, he would have caught me.
"I saw you from my room's window you were walking into the school building." He questioned again.
"What rubbish are you talking about? I sleep like dead and you are telling I was walking into the school building. You must have seen someone else." I reasoned looking ahead of us, but he flared his nose sticking to his words.
"I saw you."
"I think you had hallucination or something, because think about it, why would I roam out at night, that too in this creepy place." My voice was muffled by the way I wiped my lips and looked at him or more like see what was in his mind?
"Or maybe you were there." He was stuck to his words like a gum.
God, he was getting on my nerves now. Before, I could say anything else, a quite but firm voice interrupted me.
"Hey, Ashor, how is your mind treating you, any new hallucinations?"
Ashor and I turned behind to see Nyxander raising his eyelids to stare at us, leaning on his fist. His mouth twisted into a menacing smile as he challenged Ashor with his eyes.
"That's rude." I commented, huffing out a breath.
"Stop following me," Ashor hissed glaring at Nyxander.
My blank masks almost breaking at the way Nyxander stared right through at him, it was like as if there were having a conversation through telepath, it seemed like manipulation.
"Who says I am following, moreover, it seems like you can't get enough of Lena that you are stalking her. Tracking her whereabouts and all, Hmm?" He rasped and roamed his eyes on Ashor's face. Then he leaned closer and whispered something in his ear which made me confuse and my stomach churned with dread.
My spine stilled as I felt the chill run down on it, I knew I had some chances getting stalked, but stalked by Ashor who made me believe he was all sunshine was making it difficult for me to breath, my mask was breaking. One slip up, and everything will be destroyed. And I can't let it happen, not now.
Ashor's eyes were red as he glared at him, probably wanting bang his head as Nuxander leaned back with a satisfied smile on his face.
"You are stalking me?" Turning to Ashor I asked as I stared at him, my eyes staring him with the blankness I have mastered over a year.
"It isn't like that, I just noticed you-" he made it up, I was doubting my every plan I have made.
Ashor wasn't the one to be trusted, and I did a grave mistake on trusting him.
"This is getting better," Nyxander mused behind me, leaning with a satisfied smirk.
I stilled my spine and flared my nostrils, pointing at Ashor I jabbed my finger in his chest.
"You are not what I thought you were."
Before he could respond, the bell rang and I walked out of the class, with my head held high even when fear crumpled my heart like a paper.
I was being stalked, and if Ashor has suspicion about me, that means only one thing that Ashor knows about that masked man.
The thoughts sent a chill down my spine, I wasn’t alone at night, which means Ashor knew what was I trying to do. I didn't stopped walking until I reached the the back side of the building. Leaning against the cold brick, I heaved a sigh.
"Thinking of asking Ashor about that masked man?" A thick raspy voice startled me making me let out shriek and gasp for breath.
There stood Nyxander with his eyes full of uncertainty.
"You are so dumb." He continued and my chest heaved up and down as I breathed heavily, there was no way I was losing upto him. Nope, nil, nada, I can't afford it.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" I hissed, trying to even my breath. The thudding of my won't calm down. His piercing gaze made me freeze on my spot, but I didn’t let the weakness show.
"You aren't better than him?" My voice was firm as I accused him of the same thing he accused Ashor with.
Nyxander’s expression didn’t waver. Instead, he took a step closer, his gaze fixed on me like he was dissecting every thought running through my head.
“You’re lucky it was me who found you out here,” he said, his voice softer now but no less unsettling. “If you keep running around like this, you’re bound to get caught. Or worse.”
My breathing was still uneven, my body trembling, but I forced myself to stand straighter, meeting his gaze with as much defiance as I could muster.
“And what do you know about it, Nyxander?” I asked, my voice steadier now, though my hands clenched into fists at my sides.
A flicker of something- amusement, perhaps, crossed his face. “More than you do, Lena,” he said, his lips curling into a faint smirk.
The weight of his words settled over me like a storm cloud, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that he wasn’t just talking about Ashor or the masked man. He was talking about something much bigger—something I wasn’t ready to face.
"What do you know?" I raised my chin at him, not backing down. I couldn't back.
He leaned over me, making me arch my back, the whisper of his voice almost lulled me to run away. The option was delicious, but wasn't enough for me to act upon it.
"Don't ask questions which were never meant to be answered."
