Chapter 7: Robin

She walked out to the loud cheers of the crowd. "In the red corner, the rising star, Robin Kurenai!" The announcer excitedly said. "In the blue corner, is Ken Midori!"

"Just because we're friends, doesn't mean we'll go easy on you," Besu said, folding his 'arms' across his chest.

"Yeah. We'll beat you for sure!" Keru added. "Meet King Kerbeus!"

Robin gasped. Ken preferred to do most of his training in private, only performing at the beyclub when he had a new move to try, so she hadn't seem that green circular bey in a while. The few blades on the side, barely extending from the energy layer. Now she suddenly figured out the puppet's names. "Oh! Now I get it! Keru-Besu! Kerbeus!"

Keru slow clapped, and she was pretty sure Besu's adorable puppet face glared at him. "Let's start," Besu suggested. "Before Keru and I get in a fight again."

Ken glared at his puppets.

They both got into their launch positions.

Kerbeus is a defense type like us, but he's seen you battle before. Either make it quick, or use a new strategy.

Just follow my lead, and I think we'll be okay. Robin almost smiled. She had a good idea for a new move.

Where's this confidence during school presentations?

Robin frowned, excitement gone. That's so funny I almost laughed.

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One! Let it... rip!"

Robin had started a few steps back. On one, she had jumped forward, lifting her launcher higher.

Kerbeus circled a few times before going to center. Ken smirked a little. Robin thought something extremely rude after her hand released the launcher. Her launch had depended on Ken launching straight to center, but the stupid bey went to the outer ring instead. Her aerial attack slammed against center, with enough force to burst two Kerbeuses- if that dumb bey was there. Slightly unsteady, Phoenix stayed in the center.

"Attack, Kerbeus!" Keru and Besu yelled at the same time.

It screamed towards the center, leaving little sparks behind it.

"Sparks," Robin laughed. "Hah! Phoenix, give it the center."

"What's this?" Hanami questioned. "Phoenix dodged and gave up the middle! Now Kerbeus has the advantage! What would Robin be planning?"

Phoenix slammed off two walls, gaining speed, then circled really fast toward Kerbeus, leaving scorch marks. Flames flickered off the edges of the driver, making it glow red hot. "These are sparks, Kerbeus!" She raised her voice to a roar. "Show them what happens when they play with fire!"

Kerbeus burst.

Ken looked upset, but not even a little surprised. Robin figured that he expected to lose, especially after seeing how close she had come to kicking Shu's butt.

He nodded to her respectfully and held out the hand with Besu on it. "That was really cool, Robin," Keru said. "I guess that was a new move and I was the test subject?"

Robin grinned and held her hand out too. "Maybe a little," she agreed. It was hard to be mean to Ken. He  was too sweet, somehow even more innocent than Valt. "But I tested it on a couple rocks." Ken had Besu's little paws move her hand up and down, and she laughed.

He paused, the opened his mouth. "Wait. Rocks?"

"Wow! A stunning battle, and now both are acting like nothing happened!" Hanami announced.

Honcho yelled, "Hey, Robin! That move's new, isn't it?  What's it called?"

She thought for a moment. "Uh... Switch Launch?"

"It's a question, or and answer," Robin thought she heard Shu mutter, as his aura appeared. She was the only one who saw it as it turned a dark red with cold anger. He was pissed she won. Oh, he was mad now, that she was nearly as good as him.

"Switch Launch!" Valt yelled, causing the people around him to wince and cover their ears. "Cool! Could you teach me? Please!"

Robin giggled. "You have much to learn, young Aoi." Phoenix started yelling at her for making Star Wars references.

"Yeah!" Valt cried, running toward the beystadium. "What are the next matchups?"

Daigo was quiet for a minute, likely talking with Doomscyther.

Shu was faster. "It's Valt versus me and Robin," here he almost smiled, "is facing off against Daigo."

Daigo's head snapped up at the same time her's did. "Say what? Are you kidding me?"

"It's true," Toko said from the side, looking at his tablet. He grinned. "Why? You scared to go up against your friend?"

He glared at him, cheeks puffing out adorably. "I have no friends! I am an emo who's gonna kick all of your butts!"

Robin glanced at Daigo. He shrugged, looking away after the outburst. "The matches are almost over, and no one we know's going up," he pointed out. "We should head to the park, guess I could practice with Shu and Wakiya while Robin practices with Valt, Honcho, and Ken?"

"Actually," Keru said. "We need to go. Kind of forgot about something important."

Shu nodded. "I'll see you later."

"Bye," Ken whispered. Before she could register he used his actual voice- which was pretty kawaii, he was gone.

"Awesome!" Valt yelled, dragging everyone over to the park in record speed. His aura was bright blue with excitement. She had never seen it turn the dark blue that meant sadness, even with bad news. Daigo waved to her. "See you blader," he murmured, low enough so only she could hear it. Robin grinned, sharp teeth showing.

"Again," Honcho demanded. Valt and Robin got into their launching positions.

"Let it rip!" Robin tried her Switch Launch for the twenty fifth time. Valt pulled off a fast Rush Launch. Unfortunately for Valt, she had anticipated him doing that, and Phoenix crashed down on top of Valtryek, bursting it instantly.

"Aww." Valt pouted. "Again!"

"Nope." Robin took Honcho's camera, despite his yelling. "First, let's watch the videos of our last battles and see what we both did wrong."

Honcho started up the video, then Robin commented, "No hablo espanol. Hablo Japanese."

Robin poked the screen. "You put it in Spanish." Honcho changed it back to Japanese.

They watched in silence. The sun began its descent towards the ocean.

"I sucked," she grumbled, when it was over. "I forgot to make a plan B. What a moron."

"Exactly," Honcho said teasingly, because he has never made a backup plan in his life. "And Valt?"

He shrugged, then watched again. "Oh! Got it! I forgot to eat my Beybread!"

RIP Honcho Kiyama. Valt killed him with his innocence. And I think I'm dying. Dying of laughter, maybe. She heard her bey chuckling. Yes, Valt. Beybread grants superpowers. Ramos fell over again.

"Battle again!" Honcho yelled. "But this time..." he took out his launcher. "Two versus one."

After about half an hour later, something way different than what Honcho expected happened.

"You won again?" Honcho yelled, his orange aura turning slightly darker with annoyance. "That's the twenty eighth time IN A ROW!"

"I know, right?" Valt exclaimed, aura, if possible, shining even brighter. "So awesome!"

Honcho sighed. "Why me?"

Hi! I really don't have much to say today, so thank you for reading! And yep.. might have forgotten to do a chapter six, so maybe a filler later. But... oOf. Bye!
