Chapter 50: Robin

Alright! Final Chapter! Thanks for sticking with me through this! Thank you so much! thank you thank you thank you!!!! So please, vote, comment and follow! Hope you like it! At some point, maybe later this summer, I'll start working on a book two. Alright, I'll stop talking so much

Robin:

Since they were unable to catch and kill Ryota, they all settled for a truce. After several battles, they heard screaming. Robin sighed. First thing I hear: Screaming, she thought sarcastically. Definitely Valt.

To her surprise, it was the whole beyclub, Valt and Shu pedaling at top speed on their bikes and laughing, everyone else trying to keep up. The fact that Valt had a top speed was astonishing.

"Hey! Daigo! Robin! Give us some help!" Keru called. "We want a turn on the bikes!"

Ryota tossed them their beys. "Go," he smiled cheerfully. "And bring me back Shu's bike!"

Robin laughed and sprinted off. She was a pretty fast runner by most standards, but long distance runs were agony.

Valt and Shu grinned at each other. Robin growled and shoved Honcho out of her way. With a quick motion she had learned at the dojo- and my punish time might be up, I'll have to check- she jumped, did a flip in the air, and landed on the seat behind Shu. He turned around and yelped when he saw her grinning like a skull. Shu accidentally fell off the bike, and she grabbed the handlebars and steadied it before the glossy red bike could fall into the street. "ITS MINE NOW!" Robin yelled, steering through the gates of Beigoma Academy.

Valt chased after her with the mob of beybladers behind them. "GIVE THAT BACK TO SHUU!!"

"Never!" Robin gave a cliche villain laugh that actually sounded perfect. She turned the bike and popped several wheelies, going up the stairs.

"Don't destroy the wheels!" Shu roared at her as she bounced up the second story with a series of jolts in her stomach. God, she was never going to do another wheelie after this. Finally Robin got to the roof, where the stadium still was. She released the bike, jumping off to the side while it was still moving. The glossy red machine barreled forward and crashed against a bench. Shu kicked her as hard as he could and ran to check on it. "That was completely unnecessary!" he snapped at her, brushing off some of the chipped paint. He checked the handlebar and the tires. "At least you didn't destroy the chains," the albino sighed.

"Really?" Robin asked. "Give me a couple more minutes."

"No! This is the third most important thing in my life!" Shu gave her a cold look. "The first is Valt. The second is my... my beyblade." Robin didn't miss the waver in his voice, nor Valt's face turning into a tomato. His voice recovered in full force. "So don't touch my bike!"

The other approached, gasping for breath. Honcho and Wakiya collapsed and Ken fell on the bench. Daigo calmly stood, leaning against the wall. "Well," he panted. "What did I miss this time?"

"Nothing important," Robin lied. "So.. What do you guys want to do?"

"LET'S HEAD TO THE DOJO!" Valt bellowed. "It's been forever since we've been there! And I wanna rematch Xander!"

"I agree," Shu put in. "This time, I'll be allowed to battle."

"Is your time up yet?" Daigo asked her.

Robin checked with her bey, then grinned. "YES! FINALLY!!!" She spun circles and did another flip. "LET'S GO!"

After several minutes of forcing Rankiya to come, they were on the train. For Robin, it was extremely strange. She hadn't been allowed to set foot on the mountain for a month. She had practiced, of course, but structured training and underground beybattles and fights were two different things.

The twins were talking to each other. They seemed to be about to do something majorly funny. Robin tapped Daigo's arm, and he looked over at her. "Yes?"

She nodded at the Aois. Nika dragged Valt over and Toko dragged Shu. Nika forced her brother to kneel on one knee. The twins sat next to him. "Shu Kurenai," the two eight years said formally in unison, "Will you please take care of my brother?"

Robin had a flashback to several pokemon episodes, and apparently she wasn't the only one. For a moment, there was dead silence. Shu's mouth hung open in shock and Valt was turning into a tomato.

Then everyone fell over laughing.

Wakiya was the first to regain his breath. "You have got to be kidding me!" he grinned. "Pokemon quoting is the lamest."

Robin was suddenly extremely triggered. "You're going to die for that, Wakiya Murasaki."

It was probably a good thing that the train conductor announced they were at their destination, because she had a very sharp knife in her hand.

---

The cold wind blew on her face as she jumped from rock to rock, jumping and ducking the traps Yugo always set. The others yelled for her to slow down, but she couldn't. It was like she had been underwater when she was away, and only now she could breathe. The feeling was hard to describe, but it felt like safety and happiness and home. More home than the apartment felt. Everything felt more familiar, and Robin knew which way the wind would sway, how the rocks would shift, even where on the mountain they were. Currently, she was halfway up and felt someone's gaze on her.

Robin stopped and looked around uncertainly. "Ukyo?" she called. She never knew if it was her own paranoia or the Shadow Walker. Honestly, it was probably her paranoia. Ukyo would want to mess with Daigo.

Then the bushes rustled and the familiar sleek blue hair was visible. Three pink stones sparkled in the unsteady light, and Ukyo emerged. For once, he was wearing actual camouflage. Amazing.

He hesitated when he approached her. "I'm so glad you're back," he said honestly. "I would hug you, but Daigo--"

She crushed his ribs. "I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!! I MISSED YOUR CREEPY JUMPSCARES AND YUGO DRIVING ME CRAZY AND XANDER AND EVERYTHING ELSE! I'M FINALLY HERE AGAIN!" She suddenly realized his face was turning blue and released him. He staggered back, coughing. Ukyo gave her a teasing smile.

"Well, I guess I'd better get your friends up to the dojo. At this pace, it'll be evening by the time they reach the top. Don't go in without me, alright? Because I have to see Yugo's reaction."

Robin snickered at the thought of his stunned face that resembled a startled Pikachu's. "I won't."

A few minutes later, she finally saw the familiar building again. Robin quickly scrambled up the biggest tree she could find and looked closer. She could make out Xander's bright red hair and Yugo's weird mohawk, along with several others she knew. Robin smiled, feeling the knot of worry she didn't even realize was there begin to unravel. Maybe all that stuff with Lui and the future was just a bad dream, and was just stress. Now she could talk to Ukyo about normal pranks and stuff, and could help Daigo with his apprenticeship or whatever. And never worry about--

Oh god.

She forgot to tell Daigo about BC Sol. And just like that, the reason she was going and what was going on crashed back down on her. This wasn't a stress-induced dream. It was all real, and she had to deal with--

"They're here," Ukyo whispered in her ear. She flinched and tried to smack him. He laughed and ducked the arm, swinging to a branch lower. "I've told them what's up, now let's go in. I've got my phone on video, so try not to do something too embarrassing."

She had to deal with randomly appearing ninjas.

You've gotta be kidding, Phoenix laughed. Fine by me; let's make our fabulous entrance!

Robin grinned and jumped down. Ukyo followed silently from behind her as she snuck up on the class. They appeared to be drilling throws. The white-haired girl counted down silently, then grabbed Yugo from behind and screamed. The results were spectacular.

First of all, her scream. It was a high-pitched, blood-curling scream that reverberated through people's bones. Yugo's perfect hearing-honed by years of special training- couldn't handle it. The scream created mass confusion and several people screamed back, causing more confusion.

Second, Yugo didn't expect Robin to be back here. Coupled with a gazillion people screeching their heads off, it was nuts. He flinched, then spun around. When Yugo saw Robin, his face just turned bright red, then white, then red again. "What..." he mumbled. He kinda sounded like he just woke up, probably from the noise louder than Valt. Yugo winced and clapped his hands over his ears and stumbled back into Xander, who fell backwards from shock and both ended up on the ground.

Ukyo started laughing. "That was perfect!"

Xander stood up and pulled Yugo with him. "Robin," he sweatdropped. "That was possibly the coolest entrance I've ever seen, even in movies."

There was a 'but' coming.

"But WHY DID YOU INTERRUPT MY CLASS????"

"Sorry," she mumbled. So maybe that wasn't the best idea she'd ever had. The class had been fine before she interrupted, and now they were in complete disarray. She mostly screwed it up.

Xander shrugged. "It's fine now. By the way..." He crushed her with a backslap. "Glad to have you back, Robin!"

She grinned at that. Maybe her dramatic entrance sucked, but at least she was accepted back.

A few minutes later, the training session was over and both beyclubs were crowded around the thorn stadium. Valt and Xander were doing a rematch with most of the others watching. Robin, Daigo, and Ukyo were sitting down at the front of the dojo.

"So.. what's been going on with you guys?" the ninja asked, for once sitting still. He was stretched out on the grass, blue hair fluttering around his head.

Daigo took her hand. "Well, nothing much for me. Robin?"

She smiled. "Actually, yeah! I didn't get scouted, but BC Sol invited me to El Astro to tryouts! And you guys can come with me because anyone can go! Awesome, right?"

Her boyfriend's face changed, edges of his eyes tilting downwards. He was upset and confused and a little sad, that much Robin could see from his aura. But why was a different story.

"What is it?" she asked him. Ukyo sat up, hairbands broken and hair framing his face. He tilted his head, confused and clearly seeing the same signs as her.

"Well..." he stopped.

"JUST TELL US ALREADY!!" the other two shouted in unison. Daigo hissed and covered his ears.

"Fine, just don't ever do that again." He turned red. "I'd love to go with you, Robin, but I can't. You see... I've been scouted for a team in France. AS Gallus."

Robin gaped at him. "That's so awesome!!! Why are you upset! That's an awesome opportunity!"

Now Daigo was totally confuzzled. "But.. that means I can't come with you."

"Yeah, but this is twice as good! Forget me, you can call me and Skype, but you've trained so "One of us needs to go, one of us needs to stay." Ukyo suddenly looked supremely embarrassed. "Uh.. can I take the apprenticeship?"

"I guess since I'm leaving..." Daigo's shoulders slumped. "Oh, god, I didn't even think of that. I'd better talk to Sensei. Robin, are you sure about this?"

"Yeah!" She was. Daigo deserved this chance more than anyone else. He wasn't paid much attention here, but in France, he would be insanely amazing. "And if you don't, I'll knock you out and drag you to France in Wakiya's private jet."

He smiled. "Understood. That makes me feel a lot better." Daigo leaned over and kissed her cheek, then stood up and jogged over to where the med area probably was.

"You're lucky," Ukyo said, lying back down. "BC Sol is one of the best. By the way, you seem distracted. Reasons?"

He was her best friend. But from the movies she'd watched, one wrong move could screw up a whole timeline. She couldn't tell him, so she took a leaf out of her mother's book. Be convincing. Lie and believe it's the truth. "What if I mess up? What if I screw up the tryouts?"

Ukyo gave her the derp look. "You nearly beat Lui Shirosagi. You're worried about that?" He facepalmed. "Shut up."

Robin shrugged. "Good point."

---

It was now the day of the plane fight. Robin didn't have any luggage, just the stuff in her backpack. Apparently everyone needed a flight, other than Ken, so they opted to use Wakiya's private jet. Actually, Robin forced him to.

At any rate, they made their way to the jet. Robin didn't feel like talking, and the sentiment was shared by Daigo and Honcho. She was thinking about Phi. If Phi was a future version of her, that probably meant that she was Phi in one way or another. So what part of her? And how?

Phoenix apparently had some input, because she started talking. Well, you never really had a chance to be your own person, did you?

What the heck do you mean by that? Robin made a face. Sounds weird.

But her mental gears were already turning at that. Her real name: Azura. A name that already had a great legacy in Fire Emblem. One that she had always tried to be as good as, but would never be.

Her chosen name: Robin. A brilliant strategist with a sense of humor. He also had a great legacy, as he had saved their whole world. Robin had tried to be as good, but failed at the last moment against Lui. And what he said... what was it? Then you went and hid behind someone you'll never be half as good as. She would never be as great.

Now she noticed that she had always had pressure on her to fulfill two amazing character's legacies, and really didn't have much of a chance. Robin had always had to be a good person, quote unquote. Who would Robin be if she didn't have to be anyone else? Who was herself?

She got on the plane, still thinking about it. Was Phi her real name, who she would be if she stopped pretending?

And as they lifted off the ground, something made itself known to her subconscious. It came from a time both in the past and the far-fetched future and two repeated lifetimes. It stirred in the edge of her mind, the back of her head. It opened it's red and blue eyes.

Phi was awake.
