Chapter 5: Daigo
Daigo Kurogami closed his book of smut and open the connection channel with Doonscyther. Immediately, he heard him reciting the next matches.
Wakiya versus Valt, the bey yawned lazily. Boring. Some guy who taunts people versus Shu. Boring. Daigo- oh, hello- versus another guy. That's too easy. I don't even know his name. And Robin- here Doomscyther smirked- is against Ken. Interesting. Your crush-
I have no soul. It's not even possible for me to have a crush. Daigo focused and the world's bright colors receded to black and white- the cardinal colors of life. Soul colors. Glancing at his hand, the easiest place to see it, his hand was midnight black. Still as useless as always, then. Tell me more about Robin's match. Her bey is... interesting. It's unpredictable.
Right. Doomscyther glared briefly, then glanced at his notes. But us first. We're gonna lose otherwise. We're against this guy who uses Strike Nepstrius. Lame name. His typical attack methods include a circle strike, and then the knocking beys from behind like Robin did. As for Robin, Ken tends to go for counters. The best strategy for that is to get to the center of the stadium first.
Got it. Daigo yawned like a cat, untying his headband. He figured Doomscyther would drag his consciousness into his dreams and bother him for the rest of the night. Yippee. See you in about ten minutes, I guess. Jerk.
Exactly ten minutes later, he woke up in a Minecraft Void. Great place to be in his dreams. "Doomscyther?" Daigo called, then grumbled, "A swirling void is not a great waiting room."
"I'm here," Doomscyther said, reappearing with a person with a black hoodie. The hood was up, but Daigo recognized the hoodie anyways. Heck, he'd analyzed every single inch of that thing. "Since both of you are Descendants, I figured you two could talk in private. Where this one-" he glared at the hood, who launched themself at him. It took a few moments and a lot of blood on Doonscyther's part to get her off.
"Let me go back to my dream!" They roared. Yep, that was definitely Robin.
Phoenix's flaming form appeared as a human. His hair was short and chopped and combed to one side. Flames flickered off of it. Her black bodysuit almost made him blend in with the void. "Oh, hi." He turned to the darker bey. "You really have poor taste in your Dreamland." Phoenix snapped his fingers and the area changed to a martial arts dojo, complete with the wood floor and tasteful wall decorations. "Much better."
The death bey turned to a human form that looked suspiciously like Kirito from SAO. They stepped on the mat, bowed, and began training.
Daigo turned to the hooded figure. "No offense, Robin, but why are you here?"
She tugged off the hood, growling. Her face was set in a mask of pissed-off-ness. "Blame the beys. They've apparently been watching too many smutty movies, and are trying to make their own."
He smirked. Of course Doomscyther would try that, when the last thing he wanted was a relationship to put him in literal chains. "Wow."
Awkward pause. They turned and watched their beyblades practice backflips against a wall. Ramos's now shoulder-length hair whipped around as she completed the skill, and Doomscyther laughed. Actually laughed! What messed up world was this?
"Why are we babysitting?" Daigo sighed.
"This is technically your dream," Robin pointed out, body still extremely tense. She was probably about to murder his beyspirit. Which in all honesty, wouldn't be too bad. "You could probably change it so they have to wear princess dresses."
Daigo made a face. "Nah." He closed his eyes. When he opened them, Ramos and Doomscyther fell on their faces. Perfect.
They were in a park at night next to a beystadium, with big grassy hills that smelled like flowers. The weird thing about it was that this beautiful park was molded seamlessly into a giant library and then a rope course. Daigo liked rope courses.
Robin looked at him. "The park is cool, but the library?"
"I like dragons. And dark magic. The park's for you." he started walking through the library. "This is for me. And the rope course. So don't go over there. Got it? If we're stuck here, stay away from me."
Robin shrugged, looking completely unconcerned. "Alright."
Daigo breathed a sigh of relief as she went to go practice. He realized how scared he had been when he thought she might join him. Why?
He woke up with a start, his alarm doing that annoying buzz noise. After the initial spike of terror, which the alarm always made him feel, faded, he slapped the off button so hard he broke it. His parents hated it when he left the alarm on for too long... say, five seconds. The cracked screen read five o' clock. Daigo got up with a sigh, grabbed his backpack and left to go train.
What are we doing up this early? Doomscyther complained. He stretched and glared at me. And who's brilliant idea was it to bring Robin? My nose is still bleeding from that stupid fist!
Why do you care? Beyblades don't even need to sleep. And the injuries don't even affect your performance!
He knelt with his launcher. "Let it... rip!" Doomscyther circled the edge twice, gaining speed, before rushing the center. "Nope. Too weak. There's gotta be a way to disguise the obvious intentions of attacking the center." He launched again. And a gain. And again.
Three hours passed. Daigo launched one more time before falling to his knees, panting.
Seventeen and a half minutes remaining before school starts, his bey told him cheerfully. It didn't seem the least bit tired.
He got to his feet. Takes me fifteen minutes to get to school, only if I have a bike-oh whatever. Daigo sprinted as fast as he could to the school.
"At least I'm not late," he gasped, trying to breathe. He somehow made it it ten minutes.
Just kidding! You actually had half an hour left. School starts at eight forty five, remember?
Next time, I'm swear I'm gonna launch you into the wall on purpose.

The tournament continued. Daigo and Robin sat next to each other quietly, waiting for their turn. Valt had triumphed over Wakiya, just barely, and obviously, Shu beat his opponent with ease. He would be up next.
"So... about what happened yesterday, um... what's with the rope course?"
"None of your buisness!" Daigo growled quietly after that. "You don't need to know!"
"I literally spent the rest of the night launching." She grinned. "Thanks for providing that stadium. Now, can I have have some answers on how weird you are? You walk around town randomly, run to school in 10 minutes thirty minutes early, and your bey drags you around your dreams usually." She frowned. "Mind explaining?"
"You attack beyblade random beyspirits, walk around in a hoodie, throw people who annoy you into walls, and make friends by solidly beating people in beybattles and yelling at them." He rolled his eyes and mimiked her voice. "Mind explaining?"
He half expected to end upin a hospital bed right next to his brother, but instead, Robin grinned. "I like you. You're a smart person. Anyways, good luck, since you're up soon. Not that you really need it."
He just stared at her.
"Daigo Kurogami. You are on stage in twenty seconds." The stage guy walked in. Daigo nodded, waved to Robin, and left the room. Before he did, though, a piece of paper slipped out of his pocket and drifted to the floor. Robin jumped up, and slipped it into her jacket. Then she settled back on the couch to watch the match.
"In the red corner, Nancy, with Strike Nepstrius!" the crowd cheered.
"And in the blue corner," Hanami yelled, "is Daigo Kurogami, with Dark Doomscyther!"
"Come on, Daigo! Win this!" Valt yelled at the top of his voice. Daigo winced. Too loud.
He took a breath and approached the stage. The other guy, Nancy, smirked. "Scared to face me?"
Daigo gave him an empty stare that could creep anyone out. "If I wasn't ready, I wouldn't be here."
"Ooohhh!" Hanami exclaimed. "Things are heating up, and the battle hasn't even started! Is anyone as excited as me?"
God, the announcer this year hadn't lost his sanity yet. How long would this take?
They got in the launch positions. Nancy was defending, judging from his stance.
The last battle, he never tried to disguise any of his attacks, Doomscyther supplied. Try sending me at across the middle. I'll handle things from there.
"Three! Two! One!"
Daigo gave a menacing smile to Nancy, who flinched. "Let it.. Rip!"
Doomscyther went straight to the center, gaining speed as he did so, but purposely slowing down. Nepstrius got there first, though slightly shaky.
"We've got this!" his opponent yelled. "Keep steady!"
"It's over," Daigo stated flatly. Now!
Doomscyther had been circling closer and closer. Now it slammed straight into Nepstrius, instantly bursting it.
"Doomscyther with a burst finish! Daigo Kurogami wins with a score of two to zero!" Everyone cheered, and Nancy dropped to his knees.
Robin was waiting for him when he came back. "Cool. You did good."
"Thanks." Daigo sat back down on the couch. "Who's next?"
Robin pouted. "I hate being last. Everyone's bored by then."
He couldn't help but smile. "This is beyblade, Robin-chan. No one in the crowd will ever be bored. The worst they'll do is cheer for your opponent."
She nodded and stood up. "Thanks. I'll be back shortly, hopefully with a win."
Just before she entered the stage area, Robin opened the paper. It had a heart on it, and said
"Daigo and Robin."
She smiled.
The next chapter (in about a minute) will be robins match.
