Chapter 34: Daigo

Daigo:

After school the next day, they went to the roof of the building. Apparently, the kids who wanted to film them training or something. By then, Daigo had lectured Robin on what was an obvious Do NOT in a relationship. He guessed for some reason they weren't so obvious to her.

"Never hug another male while in a relationship," he had said. "We tend to get jealous."

She had replied with an innocent tilt of her head. "Why would you be jealous? It's just a hug."

Daigo facepalmed. Doomscizor snickered at his frustrated reaction. She's never going to understand until she ends up jealous. Just get over it.

Save me, world.

"GREAT! WE'RE ALL HERE!" Valt bellowed, shaking him out of his memories. He noticed that everyone, in fact, was there, along with two filmers and a director.

Everyone winced, and the two filmers put a hand over the cameras so the glass wouldn't break. "Yeesh," the director, a purple-haired girl said. "Yeah, but please refrain from screaming like that. It breaks important stuff, like... glass. And our ears."

He snickered quietly at Valt's stunned face. That was what everyone had wanted to say since they first met the lovable Sonic. For being the first one to say those words, the girl earned his respect.

Especially since she didn't flinch at Shu's death glare.

Doomscizor apparently wasn't amused. Valt protection squad, UNITEEE!!!

Stop.

NEVER!!! MWAAHAHAHA!!

That's too much.

They left immediately for the training center, which Daigo had really wanted to go to for a while, but hadn't had the time. Robin walked beside him, slipping her hand into his. He smiled a little. Maybe the hour he spent talking to her hadn't been a waste after all.

A flash of bright light temporarily obscured his vision. When he could see again, there was a camera in front of them. Robin was blinking and holding her hands up to block the light. She was also growling a slew of words that, thankfully, only he could hear.

"Perfect shot!" The director, called Klaraeaa, bounced over. Daigo scowled.

"You could have warned us," he muttered.

"WOAAHHH!!!! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!"

Klaraea promptly went back to her role as director. The second camera guy started shooting as she recited: "This is the Beyblade Training Center! It has high tech training equipment that can for sure make you better! Even Lui Shirosagi swings by sometimes! What do you guys think?"

Shu's pale face went slightly paler. "You say he comes by sometimes?"

When she nodded, his scar started glowing. Not a lot, just barely, but that was enough for his cat's eyes to pick up.

Valt, Robin, and Honcho were oblivious to this, however, investigating every little section of the outside. "The center has AC!" Robin yelled, as if that weren't obvious. Valt must be rubbing off on her, he thought.

"Yeah!" Honcho agreed. "And it's got some real cool stadiums! Fit for the Head Honcho!"

Wakiya facepalmd. "You idiots. You're on camera, you know!"

Daigo sighed, muttering to him that he wasn't acting much better. Shu walked between them and grabbed their arms, dragging them towards the training center. "Come on, let's not keep Valt waiting," the albino said, voice threaded with impatience.

Just the mention of Shirosagi has put him on edge, Daigo through nervously. Nervous, that was a new emotion. What's going to happen if that shark is actually here?

"Hey! What're you doing here?" Honcho yelled.

In the equipment room, there was a specific rival team by the name of Rideout. Daigo tensed. This was the strongest Beyblade team. It had five member and was the exact opposite of Ken's team. There, the captain was second-in-command to the leader, Inko, but from what information Ryota's beyblade had scrounge together, Gabe, the captain, had the most power. It was a tight-knit group, the exception being it's fifth member.

A certain hot-headed shark boi.

Anger and a small amount of fear went through him. By now, Daigo knew Robin well enough to know she was feeling the same thing. These people were their next opponents, which was what Valt was clearly thinking, and Honcho and the filmers were just mad they were in their space.

Shu, though... he sensed anger, confusion, sadness, and a huge desire to leave and change his name so he couldn't be found again. Now Diago was confused, but before he could talk to Shu, Gabe spoke up.

As the clear best beyblader in the group, he spoke for all of the present members. "I could ask you the same question," he rumbled.

Robin hissed quietly, watcing one of the memebers, a silver-tongued guy run on a treadmill. "How about we go somewhere else?" she growled.

He met her eyes, tilting is head slightly. What's going on? Something up?

Robin gave a slight shake of her head. It's nothing. Just keep Shu busy.

Valt gave her a startled look. "What? But we just got here!"

A smaller boy, with dark hair spiked like Daigo's turned around. It was apparent that he was the runt of the litter, and seemed to idolize Gabe and Lui. "Well, you can leave. We obviously train way harder than you."

The smart-mouthed greenette turned around, running backwards and picking up his pace. "Or you could stay, or whatever. Not like you could keep up."

Robin's eyes flashed angrily. Now that someone had challenged her, he could sense her desire to prove that she was good enough. Most times, she was smart enough to back out, but if she did this one, Robin would look weak.

Fortuntaely, Valt made the decision for her. "Yaay!!! We can stay!"

Both Gabe and Shu rolled their eyes and gave him an amused look. It seemed like the two had similar personalities, as did the tiny kid and Valt. So did Robin and that guy with the too-quick responses.

"I've got better things to do," Robin decided, turning around.

Huh? What're you doing?

"Pssh," the green-haired guy snickered, jumping to turn forwards again. "Pathetic."

Daigo could sense her emotions boiling in her, but she casually raised her left hand in a lazy wave. "Come 'round my place anytime, kid. I'll teach you a thing or two."

That left him in stunned silence for a few seconds, and by then it was too late. "Bu you're my age!" he yelled at the closed door.

Another person laughed quietly. "Shinki, that girl's got you beat." Another kid stepped out of the shadows. How many of these jerks are there? Well, granted, Gabe doesn't seem too bad.

This one had dark brown hair casually tousled, sunglasses perched on top. He wore a white shirt and simple blue jeans. Compared to the crazy getups of other bladers, a relaxed style was a welcome change.

Shinki frowned. "You sure he's a girl? I thought he was male."

"She's flat chested, yes," Katana replied evenly. "But trust me when I say she's female."

I may have just earned myself a thousand fangirl enemies, but that's because he's a minor character, Doomscizor said cheerfully, earning him an internal glare.

Dude, what have I told you about breaking the fourth wall?

I dunno, it hasn't happened before

"Katana Sakaki," the brunette introduced briefly. It seemed he wasn't one to waste words. His gaze landed on Daigo. "You. Come with me."

Gabe frowned. "Katana...."

He inclined his head slightly. "I'll make up for the time I should have been training. I need to ask you a question, Daigo Kurogami."

Internally, Daigo flinched back. Creeped out, much?

Instead, he nodded and followed him out.

Katana turned to him. "I used to know Robin. She and Lui were best friends. She just left. Word on the streets is she's your girl. Pay more attention to where she is."

He must have seemed confused, because Katana scowled slightly, his light skin reddening with frustration. "With the information you just got about her, where do you think she's headed?"

She used to know Lui, knows he's in the building. Hates him nearly as much as Shu. Just left, without any explanation of where she was headed. She trains whenever she can, whether body or mind, so skipping the opportunity isn't like her. She could easily trounce Shrinky or whatever his name was, so that means...

Katana saw the light go off in his brain and dipped his head. "Got it. Where Lui is concerned, you should make sure she doesn't land in jail, will you?"

With that, he went back inside. Daigo stood there, confused. Obviously she was looking for Lui, looking for trouble. She couldn't have gotten far, walking at a slow pace. Of everything that he knew about her, he knew Robin couldn't run for very long and easily got distracted.

He took off at a quick pace, enhanced eyes searching left and right. Sure enough, he found her in one of the hallways, peeking into rooms. "Robin, what're you doing?"

"Trying to find the lunch area," she lied with ease. "You should head back, as you're wasting valuable training time."

He rolled his eyes, and that's when he heard a drumroll.

Gabe Brunei appeared in front of them, eyes closed. He appeared to be sitting down and nearly fell down before standing up again.

Gabe Brunei: Descendant power: Teleportation. A drumroll announces his presence, which is the sound of time-space distortion.

Daigo had several questions involving space and time and how they were similar and who it was used, but he put them aside. "Why are you here?"

"Katana asked me to find your friend and bring her back to the training room," he replied, shifting his attention back to Robin, as his brain whirred. So Katana, as Robin's friend, was testing him. Testing to see if he knew Robin better than she knew herself, could find her faster than teleportation could find her. Looks like I passed.

Robin looked like she wanted to make a run for it, but she took one look at Daigo and relaxed. "Sure. Your friend, Shrinky Dink or whatever his name was, needs a serious lesson."

He looked faintly amused. "You could try, but Shinki is a lot more skilled than you might think."

She smiled back. "If you say so. Does he turn into a giant if placed in water?"

Frankly, he wanted to know the answer to that question, but refrained as Gabe began to speak again. "Both of you, I'm going to teleport you back. To warn you, don't let go: you may find yourself stuck halfway between a wall and hell."

A rock and a bad place, he thought wryly, grabbing hold of Gabe's sleeve. It felt the least awkward. Robin held onto Gabe's arm, which made him think the hour spent lecturing her went down the drain. The redhead shut his eyes, and pain lanced across Daigo's body. A roar and whistling noise crashed through his ears. He bit down on lip and focused on his grip on the Rideout member's sleeve. He saw creatures from nightmares and creatures from dreams, and beyblades and things that shouldn't have existed. Daigo looked over to check to see if Robin was noticing the same thing, and yelped. Gabe flinched, nearly jerking them off course. The pain intensified, something tugging him towards their set destination.

But Daigo barely noticed any of this, attention on Robin. She looked like... a queen. Her garb was constantly changing with the landscape, but her clothes were always those of royalty. Sometimes they were spun clouds, others, candy, and in the pure terrifying areas, Robin was so scary that everything cringed away from her. Her hazel eyes were closed, face radiating peace, indicating none of the pain Daigo was currently feeling.

It looked like the same thing was happening to him and their guide, clothes flickering to match the surrounding culture.

Then the pain stopped and everything went still and ceased flashing and the noise was gone. Daigo dropped on the ground, gasping for breath. Robin opened her eyes and regarded her surroundings cooly. They were just outside the door to the training area, which was considerate of the redhead. If Daigo ran to the nearest plant and threw up--which he seriously felt like doing-- no one would see it.

"We're rivals," Gabe said to them before either could decide to thank or curse at him. "As soon as I leave, we're rivals and I don't know about this." With a drumroll, he disappeared and probably reappeared at the weightlifting area. A yell of surprise from Valt.

Robin look around, seeming slightly dizzy. Daigo ignored his nausea and got up. "Are you alright?"

"Yes," she replied serenely. "It's a bit strange. I feel... more at peace, I think. And I know each and every place that we passed, odd as it is. I know how to act there, what I'm supposed to do... Did you feel the same thing?"

He shook his head, bracing his hand against the door. "The only thing was a whole lot of pain." The world receded to black and white and grey while he checked his soul reading, and Robin's too. "You're the same, but me... according to my soul, I'm fifty percent more likely to make better choices now. C'mon, let's go."

Two hours later, they exited and headed to the lunch area Robin had faked trying to find. "Alright, everyone!" Klaraeaa said happily. "I got some excellent footage, but now... interviews!" She looked around. "Shu Kurenai first!"

Foolishly, yet again, he let Robin out of his sight. Again. A few minutes later, when he looked behind him, both her and Valt were gone.

When I find her, she and I are going to have another chat about this. Oh, why bother? Robin's gonna be Robin. I'd better just find her,

Shu walked into the room. His interview had been outside. Immediately, Shu snesed the difference, brows creasing as he searched the lunch room. "Where's Valt?"

Klaraea jumped up and down, her own camera out and filming. "DRAMMA!!!"

Shu's ruby eyes turned to her with a deadly look, and she shrank back. "Are you author-chan's speaker-person or something?"

---

Yes, she is. Anyways, I haven't ahd much time recently. Final exams start this week: Caaspp testing and such. Usually, I do my schoolwork fast enough that I have time for writing there, but I won't have much time for a while. If updates are slower than usual, sorry...

BTW, somewhere in the last two weeks was my birthday! Now I'm 13 and legally allowed to read lemons!

Yaay!!!

Robin out!
