Chapter 30: Daigo
Check out this song I found on youtube! Original, by Gio Naves! ANways, twist at te end of dis chapter, becasue I got super bored at school. Okay, enough talking.
ON WITH DA STORY!
Daigo:
His head spun. Ken was his best friend before Robin. They had to beat him? Seriously? Kenś battle style was mostly defense with a couple of strong attacks. That wasn't too bad, but if the Beasts were as strong as he'd heard, they would be in trouble. The Beasts fought recklessly, using as much power from their beyblades as they could. Daigo knew Ken still had not discovered his real Descendant power yet, because the puppet thing was something Kerbeus used.
"Oh, no," Valt breathed nervously, then shrugged. "Well, lets go train!"
"Its somewhere around five right now," Shu chided gently. "You should be heading home."
Robin anxiously bounced on her heels in a very un-Robin way. "Shu, Valts right. We really need to be training."
"Yeah!" Wakiya and Honcho agreed in unison.
Daigo nodded. "Motion passed. You coming, Shu?"
"Of course," he sighed. "But if anything happens to Valt..."
She rolled her eyes. "We get it, we get it, you'll get us for that. NOW ONWARD HO!!!!"
Robin, that's so you.
Apparently she was in charge of training this time. Robin was way different from Shu, and surprisingly the training showed it. Instead of strength exercises, they did several flexibility tests, and that launch thing that Robin did with yen.
"This aint possible!" Honcho yelled after missing all ten again.
"That attitude is why you haven't gotten better," Robin told him, launching her bey with perfect form. All ten yen scattered. "The point is to increase accuracy. Try with two instead."
Daigo launched and hit five out of ten. Dang it!
Still pretty good though. Doomscizor started giving him tips. It was weird to get help from the thing he was launching, but beggars can't be choosers.
Heard that!
After an hour of that frustratingness, Robin let them take a break, then-- "BEYBATTLE!!!"
"YEAH, BOIII!!!" Honcho and Valt jumped up at the same time. "SHU C'MON!"
"I'm practicing," the albino replied easily, launching. All ten coins scattered in Spryzen's wake.
"Woah, woah, woah," Valt yelled, running forwards. "Launch again!"
He did, and Valt gaped. "But... that means you can launch with your left hand!"
Daigo inwardly cursed himself. Why didn't I notice that?
Oh, because you couldn't see him launch. Robin seems to be irritated too, but she also launches with her left hand.
WHAATTT!???
She's left handed, genius.
...Dang it.
Robin looks pretty upset with herself. Then she asked, "How long did it take you to learn?"
"I've launched a thousand and seven time," he told them. "And I still haven't perfected it."
Valt gaped. "WOAAHHH!!! I WANNA TRY!"
He launched, but the bey only spun twice before dropping to the beyfloor. "Aww..."
"Robin, you want a turn?"
She hesitated. "Okay."
"With your right hand."
Robin groaned. "Time to fail." She launched as hard as she could.
To Daigo's surprise, it spun very, very fast, but flew out of the stadium at somewhere around sixty miles per hour. "AHH!!! OHMYGODWHYISITSOFAASSTTT!!"
Phoenix hit a rock and burst. Robin sprinted over and checked the pieces for cracks. She sighed in relief. "Okay, I should never do that again."
"Yeah," Wakiya agreed.
Daigo rolled his eyes. "Do it again!"
"No!"
After the battles, Shu and Daigo forced everyone else to sit down while thy recited info about the next team.
"The Beasts are a team of five with Ben as the captain-- we saw him-- and Inko Iya as the leader. Doesn't really make sense, but I think Inko's influence is stronger than the captain's. Probably." Daigo stopped there, letting the albino continue.
He did. "Ken fits somewhere in the social status at about second to Ben. The others are below them, but they all care for one another. I recently heard that our friend and the captain are dating now."
Daigo picked up there. "We know they're mostly attack-type beys, with an exception of Ken. Betromoth has something strange about it, but I couldn't find it, even when I took my tablet to Naomi to hack. Naoimiś a scientist with a good knowledge of computers, if you didn't know. So our best chance is our balance and stamina types, meaning Honcho and Robin and Shu. However--"
"BUT I WANT TO BATTLE, AND SINCE I'M CAPTAIN YOU CAN'T STOP ME!"
"That," Shu sighed. "Yeah, it would be smarter to have either Robin or I up, then the other two spots are up for grabs."
"ME!" Valt yelled. "YOU, ME, AND ONE OTHER PERSON!"
Everyone other than Shu and Daigo yelled, "PICK ME!"
While the poor Sonic was getting harassed, Robin walked over to him. "Why not you? Oh, wait, that's a stupid question."
"Uh, yeah, because reasons."
"Great reason!" Robin laughed. "HEY, DAIGO VOLUNTEERS!!"
"NO I DON'T!" Daigo yelled over her. He winced and started coughing. "Geez, that's the loudest I've ever been."
His girlfriend facepalmed. "YEAH HE VOLUNTEERS!"
"No I don't--" He started coughing again. "Ow."
"Wakiya," Valt decided. "You're up!"
Honcho wailed. "WHY NOT ME?"
"You went last time," Shu patiently reminded him.
"I don't care!"
Daigo winced. His head was starting to hurt a lot. Why are they so loud!
It's totally natural for them ,Doomscizor explained. Are you sick? You were coughing a lot.
Not sick. I've never gotten sick before. Ever. Cats don't get sick.
Okay.
"Are you seriously going to spy on the Beasts?" Shu asked Daigo. It was the next day at the tournament, and the neko had just told him his master plan.
"No," Daigo sighed. In truth, he had actually wanted to leave and go to the empty gymnasium. He really wanted to use his ears and tail. It was really difficult for him to hide them, like hiding an arm or leg. Without it, he felt unbalanced and slightly dizzy.
Are you sure your not sick?
I'M NOT SICK, GOT IT?
-_-
Geez, I'm just kinda tired of having to hide all the time.
"So... who's first?"
"Valt, then Wakiya, then me," the albino recited. "Unless you want to."
I don't deserve to. "No thanks," the neko said. "But I think I'm going to try and find Ken."
"ME TOO!" Valt yelled.
Shu hesitated. "Okay, but hurry. Your match is in five minutes."
Robin jumped up from where she had been polishing her necklace on her jacket. "I'll come too."
They found Ken and the rest of his team in the beyblade gallery. "Hey, Ken!"
Ken turned around, and Daigo stepped backwards. The look in his eyes wasn't exactly welcoming. "Valt," Keru growled. Besu began to speak. "We're going to beat you--" Ken continue the sentence. "And the rest of your team." Besu started again. "We'll be the ones to face Rideout."
Robin groaned. "First, could you just speak with one of the three? It's distracting. And second, why would you want to fight Rideout and that blue-haired little--"
Daigo covered her mouth. "Innocent Valt, remember?" He faced Ben, who was glaring at them beside the ventriloquist. "And stop staring at me. We'll be the ones to win. Hey, and Ken, did you find your Descendant powers yet?"
Ken nodded, smoke curling from him. "It's a bit strange," Besu said. "Ken thought he'd get telekinesis or something. But instead..."
Ken turned around and exhaled hard. A plume of fire twisted from his mouth and flew in a cone-shaped arc. Kesu started. "I can breathe fire, if I choose to. A real pain on miles, that one."
Ben narrowed his eyes. "You. Black hair. There's something about you...your brother had a fainter scent, but it's all over you. Take off your bandanna."
Oh. He knows I'm a neko."What if I like my bandanna?" he challenged.
"I'm not gonna take it," Ban snapped. "What kinda guy d'you take me for?"
"Do you seriously want the answer to that?" Robin pointed out. "Because I'm great at thinking up rude answers."
The captain facepalmed."I'm not doing anything wrong! Stop acting like that! I'm curious, alright, so could you at least tell me?"
Daigo frowned. "Ask Ryota. If he trusts you, he can tell you." He felt kind of bad forcing his baby brother to deal with it, but Ryota knew Daigo wouldn't talk about it.
Keru said, "Your match is soon." Besu picked up from there. "We hope we--" Ken. "Get to battle you."
Valt jumped up and down happily. "CAN WE BATTLE NOW PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!"
They all ran from the room when glass started shattering.
Good thing Valt doesn't have a sound power, Daigo thought, or he might be the world's strongest villain on accident.
Side note: My friends sometimes joke about my louder friend having a stronger sound quirk than Present Mic. One of my friends is a major MHA fan, so... yea. Moving on!
The matchups would be:
Valt versus Ken
Wakiya versus Ben
Shu versus Inko.
He frowned when he read that. Inko had never joined an official battle before. What made her do that now? From her profile, she didn't seem like a Shu fangirl.
Valt beat Ken after an extremely close match. Daigo had been sure that he would lose, after seeing the latter's vast improvement.
Wakiya got destroyed, after they saw the secret of Betromoth. Apparently, it could speed up halfway through a battle. Why was there no info about that online? Are people seriously that slow at updating?
Yeah. Like the writer.
Don't break the fourth wall!
The last battle between Shu and Inko was... surprising. Daigo now understood why she didn't battle. Her presence was really overwhelming. Her casual air of confidence, coupled by her power, was scary. In addition, her beyblade was a complete powerhouse and she tended to do tricks like clapping her hands before she launched. That wasn't against the rules, which the green-haired girl likely knew front to back. On the clap, Shu flinched before before launching, causing Spryzen to be shaky. Somehow, though, he got a knockout finish. Everyone seemed surprised, since all his matches ended with a burst finish. All of them.
Not anymore. Inko's smart. If she couldn't beat him, she needed a knockout. If one person couldn't be defeated so easily, why not more? That could be what she was going for.
Or, maybe you're overthinking it and she just lost.
Maybe Doomscizor was right. Anyways....
Hanami yelled, "THE BEIGOMA ACADEMY BEYCLUB MOVES ON TO FIGHT RIDEOUT!"
God, how does he scream so loud?
Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Robin slip through the door without her backpack. She moved gracefully across the hallway, almost unnoticable, and went outside, figure just a whisper in the wind. Well, Daigo thought. That's new...
Daigo ran after her, stripping off his jacket and bandanna as he want. He tied the jacket around his waist while sprinting, a feat by itself. "Robin!"
She apparently couldn't hear him, but Ben could. The only way he knew he was there was becasue Daigo's nose caught his scent as he turned the corner. Daigo hissed and jumped back, and Ben calmly stepped out. "I knew it," he said. "Huh. That's actually pretty cool. How well can you see and hear?"
"Better than most humans," Daigo replied, trying to find Robin. "But my girl's impossible to keep track of."
"I can," he said. "Consider it a winner's favor."
A few minutes later, Daigo and Ben found Robin running through the park in a black leotard. "Waah!" She turned around and would've kicked Daigo in the face if he hadn't fallen flat.
"Yeesh!" Ben held out his hands in a gesture of surrendering. "Calm down, lady."
He turned and left, leaving the other two.
"Uh....where were you going?"
"Duh." Robin turned back around and started to run.
Daigo growled angrily. "Why, though? Do you seriously need to go there for money or something?"
She stopped and turned around. "Well, yes. Mom and Dad are having a very hard time earning money from their company. They're getting old, and the other workers are trying to take their place. Shu's auctioning his medals to get more money, and I'm doing.. This. Trust me, I'm fast enough, and it's better than alternatives."
Like a stri-- I'll stop.
"Anyways, I've gotta go," she said, increasing her pace. "I'll see you tomorrow."
Daigo silently followed her past a seriously stinky sewer and around several back alley. Robin turned a shadowed corner and his sharp ears heard a loud thump.
ROBIN!
He sprinted around that corner and stopped short.
Another man was kissing his girl.
Said there would be a twist!
Don't judge me, I had to do something other than te battles, because lets be honest: Those paragraphs were bad. Anyeways, description of what perosn looks like next week!
