Chapter 28: Lui, Ken, and Robin

Yeah, its getting more complicated, keeping it to one or two people. Ill let you know when the perspectives change, though. In addition, I thought of some crossovers, which will become obvious why if I ever get to a third book.  But I might just be getting your hopes up for nothing, since I have a habit of stoppiing something halfway through.

Anways, here is the newest chapter!----

Lui:

To a casual eye, Shu looked exactly the same as last time they had seen each other. His white hair hung at shoulder level, his ruby eyes sparkled with their usual luster, and his clothes style was the same. But he knew different.

Last time they had spoken, his left eye was scarred and fighting back tears, and his right eye glared at him with betrayal that cut him to the bone. Shu's head had been down, angry with himself. Which wasn't fair. It was all his fault. Now, however, the red eyes sparkled with hope, and as he looked at Valt, his face turned warm and inviting.

He could barely remember the last time someone looked at him like that.

But Shu just turned away and kept walking. That action said everything to him, bringing him straight back to last year.

Azura turned her head, looked him straight in his violet eyes. She tipped her head in the direction of the door. The meaning was clear: We need to talk.

Lui took one last look at the team his would have to face. Then he followed her out the door.

"You little--" She started, snarling a few places he belonged.

"Are you kidding?" he yelled. "You should be mad at your brother! We used to be friends!"

"Yeah!" Azura screamed back. "But that was before you broke Shu's heart!"

Lui recoiled, pain evident in his features. "He destroyed Luinor! He was jealous and broke Luinor's energy layer with a hammer! What are you gonna say about that!"

Azura growled at him, tears growing in her eyes. "He destroyed it because you tried to hurt Valt! He was only friends with Sonic, but you were jealous and tried to sabotage his bey!"

"I was trying to make Shu happier!" Lui hated the tears that streaked down his face. "I wanted him to smile at me instead of him! He wouldn't talk to me anymore! He broke my heart way before I broke his!"

The girl was silent. Then she said quietly, "But what about me?"

"Yeah? What about you?"

"You could have stayed friends with me..." she said, voice trembling. "You didn't have to take my first beyblade."

"Oh, right," he snarled. "Right, Azura. I used the pieces to make the beyblade I have right now. I believe it was called...Brave Basilisk, right? I use the tip, and the design of the forge disk."

"That's creepy."

"Oh, please," he snorted, tears stinging his face. "Don't pretend like you did that too. I admired you, for everything. For not hiding, for standing tall. And then you went off and hid your name under a pretend boy you'll never be half as good as." He tugged on her short hair. "Hence, the haircut. So don't try to lecture me, yeah?"

He knew he won, as much as he knew she'd be back. "Yeah," she muttered, stepping back.

Lui turned around and went back inside. Valt, he thought. You'd better make Shu a king, or you'll have some serious problems.

Ken Midori:

"Why don't you speak in you real voice?" Ben asked. He was part of the beyblading club, one of the "animals." They had accepted Ken instantly, after seeing him wreck most of the members. Thanks to you, Valt.

He could feel Kerbeus getting ready to speak. "Kerbeus likes to use the puppets to communicate, but he lets me use them too."

Besu opened his mouth. "Hello."

Ben leaned towards the second puppet curiously. "Seriously? Well then, hello, King Kerbeus."

Besu gave a bow. "A pleasure to meet you."

He looked up. "Ken, you doing that?"

Keru shook his head. "No. I use Keru. He uses Besu, for reasons unknown."

Ben growled softly. "You've been at this school for a week, and I've still never heard your real voice." More to himself, he mused, "How can I...?"

"I've got an idea," a girl said, striding towards them. Inko Iya was the only girl on the team, and far by the fiercest of them. Her Descendant power was only moving small objects, but she had long ago learned to knock a person out with a single rock. Besides, when Inko wanted a victory, she didn't mind scaring the competition. Although Ben was captain in tournaments, Inko Iya was leader.

"Why don't you kiss him and see if he starts stuttering?" The greenette asked mischievously, her long hair swinging.

"Say what now?" Ben yelped. "I'm not gay."

"Your face is turning red."

"IS NOT!!"

"It is," Ken smiled. He gasped and covered his mouth.

"Your voice is cute," the other two said at the same time, then laughed.

"STOP LAUGHING!!!" Keru snapped.

"Aanndd... he's back," Inko decided. "Let's go back in and start practicing."

"Weĺl be back in a minute," he said.

A gleam entered her eyes. "Don't take too long!"

As soon as the girl was gone, they stood up. Suddenly, Ben pushed him up against the wall. "W-what are you doing?" Keru asked shakily. Their faces were an inch apart, so close, Ken could count every one of his friends lashes.

"Taking Inko's advice," he breathed softly. And leaned forward and kissed him.

"Will you go out with me?" Ben murmured against his lips.

Ken pushed him away teasingly. "Well," Kesu said. "Let me think.... Well, I seem to remember having a crush on you since the first day. So... yes!"

"Weirdos have to stick together," Besu added.

Ken swatted the second puppet.

"Actually, I've got a question," Ben said. "You're obviously a Descendant. So what's your power?"

He shrugged, meaning he had no idea.

Ben threw an arm around his shoulders and they walked back inside. "Weĺl find out together, 'kay?"

Inko watched them through the window, slightly amused. Unknown to Ken, tears welled slightly in her eyes.

She whispered to herself, "But he was supposed to be mine..."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Robin:

Their team was up against something called Ice Blaze.

Kinda weird name, she thought. Since, you know, ice cannot be set on fire.

Ramos pulled a face. Duh. Now focus. They're all defense types, so Valtryek is weak to them, as is K-- oh, right, sorry, and Doomscizor. Honcho is probably the weakest on our team, and Wakiya stands a decent shot, if only he'd turn up on time. Shus our auto-win card until we get to Lui. Try no to rely on him too much.

Valt bounced up, excited. "Don't worry! Their leader is awesome! Quon found my beyblade again, after I may or may not have crashed his skateboard into a tree."

Shu smiled. Valt gasped and pulled out his phone, taking quick pictures. "HE SMILED!!!"

Then they were surrounded by fangirls and harassed officers. Robin glared at the crowd, royally ticked off. "Fine, then," she muttered. "Go away."

She cleared her mind, closed her eyes, and thought of the most disinteresting she could think of. Math came to mind.

The girls muttered boring words and turned away, walking back to their seats in the giant stadium.

One of the officers shook his finger good-naturedly at her. "That was naughty, Miss Kurenai," he teased. "But it did work, so let's both pretend this never happened."

She smiled gratefully. "What happened?"

He grinned back. "I don't know what your talking about."

Daigo didn't go on this round. It was Quon versus Valt, a bad matchup that the Sonic was sure to lose, Honcho against the second-in-command, and Robin against one of the others. In truth, she was mildly insulted.

When Robin asked Daigo if he wanted to switch places, he shook his head. "I may have decided to continue blading, but I don't deserve to compete right now."

She frowned. "If you--"

"I won't," Daigo promised, giving her a shy hug. "Now focus on your match."

She pretended to think, then yanked his launcher from his pouch. "Wha--hey! Give that back!"

"First you've gotta battle me," she said casually, flipping the purple launcher over in his hands.

He made a grab for it, but she danced out of reach. "Okay, fine. Just give me my launcher."

They knelt on the floor.

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

"Let it... rip!"

While they were battling, Valt lost to Quon. It took until Honcho won for Shu to find them. Embarrassingly, he caught them just as Phoenix burst. He was fighting a smile as he said; "Robin, you're up right now. You'll want to hurry."

She nodded, and scooped up Phoenix's pieces. "Of course."

Daigo gave her a quick kiss. "Good luck." He walked away in the direction of the stands, and it took every ounce of willpower not to chase after him.

The person she was up against was extremely skinny, looking like he could squeeze through jail bars. "So you're the girl blader?"

Robin decided that didn't deserve an answer.

He tilted his head, impatiently tapping his foot. "You sure you're a girl?"

The crowd laughed, and she allowed a brief smile to touch her lips. "Sadly."

The crowd laughed harder.

"Meet Mystic Manticore!" He held out the black beyblade with obvious pride. She took a second to examine the perfectly circular energy layer. The forge tip was the same. This bey was made for stamina finishes.

"Guess you already know Phoenix," Robin said, drawing Rise Phoenix out of her pocket. In her head, Ramos wailed about the non-dramatic entrance. Come on! Anyone can do better than that!

He knelt in his starting position. Don't slack off. Treat every opponent like he's better than you are. Go for a burst.

"Three!"

"Two!"

"One!"

"Let it... rip!"

Phoenix landed in the stadium without bouncing, hesitated for a second, then sped along the edge of the stage while manticore took the center.

"Thatś not a defense type!" the boy yelled.

"Um... yeah, it is," Robin pointed out. "You saw the tip."

"It was before,'but now it is a balance type."

"A balance type..." she mused, possibilities growing in her brain. Sensing her ideas, Phoenix crashed into the wall and sped towards the center, building up speed. "Cool."

"Manticore! Dodge!" he yelled.

It did, but Robin grinned. "Lets try something new: A combination of two of my friends moves."

Phoenix turned around, sparks flying from the rounded performance tip, and crashed back down with twice the speed and force. It hit Manticore and sent it to the edge of the stadium. Shakily, it moved back near the center, where Phoenix was circling.

Her red bey smashed into the black one, tilted enough so it pushed the forge disc.

Manticore burst.

"TWO POINTS!!!" Hanami announced. "The Beigoma Academy wins with a score of three to one!"

The boy smiled at her, not at all surprised by the loss. "You're nearly as good as your brother." He ran his fingers through his long black hair. "Guess I've got some training to do."

"Why are you smiling?" she asked. "Why are you happy?"

He gave her a teasing look. "'Cause with the info I've gotten, I'll win next time."

"What was that about!" Wakiya yelled at Valt. "They all won their matches, even Honcho! Yet our Captain didn't? You need to be replaced!"

Valt looked close to tears. "I tried! And I'll try again as many times as he'll let me! I didn't want to lose!"

"Back off, Wakiya," Daigo said from the side. "That won't make things better. We just have to figure out the problem and move on."

"The problem is Valt, can't you see that! He's dead weight and holding us back!"

Now Shu stood up, walking towards the angry blonde. "Are you trying to mess the team up? Without Valt, we wouldn't even be here!"

Robin saw Daigo scoot away from the noise, an expression of pain on his face. "ENOUGH ARGUING!" she snarled. Honcho jumped, Valt yelped like a kicked puppy, Shu didn't seem to notice, and Wakiya looked like he wanted to destroy stuff.

"How did we lose to a team like this?" a voice said behind her. She spun around to see Quon. "You clearly haven't figured out your places, and if you don't, Xander will destroy you."

"He's got a point," Daigo noted, removing bloodied hands from his cat ears.

He sighed, shaking his head. "Figure it out. If you guys beat us, I want you going to the end."

Quon left behind dead silence.

Immediately, everyone turned to Valt, who had tears silently streaking down his face. "Shu's captain," he sniffed, then bolted out the door.

Shu began to sprint after him, but Robin grabbed the back of his shirt. "No. Rich boy," she turned to Wakiya. "You'd better apologize. And it better be good. Clear?"

Her angry, dark red aura inflicted his, turning it light purple with fear. "C-crystal."

#blamewakiya

OOOHHHH!!!!

Anyways, you may have noticed I skipped Valt's battle scene. It'll be out in detail in the next chapter, so you can see Valt and Xander's reactions up close.

Robin out!
