Chapter 19: Robin and Daigo.
Dang! I haven't been on in a whole five day! I think it's fivw days. Is it five days? Whatever. Oh, yeah, and I'm gonna start editiong other chapters soon. ON WITH DA STORY!!!
Daigo:
As he left the stage, he could feel Robin cheering for him, but Ramos's suspicious gaze on him.
Ken lost to Orochi, Shu beat Ukyo, Valt won as well. And Princess Murasaki, well, obviously he lost to Robin-chan, who beat him in seconds. She smirked at the stunned boy. "Yes, Goldilocks, you were beaten by a girl. I believe you owe me twenty dollars."
Of course she was betting with Wakiya, Daigo rolled his eyes as an embarrassed princess came back down.
Honcho laughed. "And you owe me fifty!"
REALLY?
In his head, the Doomscyther owner did an anime fall, complete with the crossed eyes expression. And speaking of Doomscyther...
He forced Daigo to walk away, heading towards the park for another several hours of torture. After that, he knew the bey would make him sprint home.
Leave me alone! Daigo snarled, struggling in his chains and baring his teeth. You--
"Now, now, kitten," Doomscyther told him as he got to the park. "Be good, and after I'm done with you, I might kill you quickly."
Jerk, son of a-
"Shut up!" Doomscyther roared, backhanding Daigo across the face. He cried out and swore. For the language, the bey hit him again and the boy fell to the ground, unmoving.
"That's what I thought, Kurogami."
When he awoke, Doomscyther was controlling his body again, going home.
I dont want to go home. I need to make a detour first.
"No."
Yes! Let me go!
"No."
Daigo struggled against Doomscyther's power again, and got smacked. Ouch. Let me go, you--
After about fifteen minutes of going home and going back, he wrestled control from the bey and almost fell over from relief. For now, Doomscyther was too exhausted to stop him. There were a few things he needed to do first.
"YOU'RE QUITTING BEYBLADING?????" Valt screamed the next day. Everyone at school cried out and covered their ears. Well, everyone but Daigo and Shu, who knew this was coming and had bought earplugs.
"Yes. I'm not going to beyblade. I might come back to it at some point, but right now... I can't."
"But... but you won!" protested Honcho. "You can't stop now!"
"That's what Doomscyther thinks," Daigo muttered under his breath. "I have to go," he told them, walking out, but doubling back to hide behind the benches.
Valt was crying. "Daigo! Why???"
Shu hesitated. "Well, I- uh, never mind."
Actually, Shu had figured out he had cheated, but hadn't told anyone. The boy just sat and stared and him, then asked why. Doomscyther, sensing him about to tell Shu, had taken over and lied; saying that he wanted to win, no matter what.
The next day, Daigo had regained control and left the beyclub.
Next place to go, Shakedera Dojo. Funny, I didn't see Robin here today after school. Doesn't she have a match against the Music boy, Orochi. He's a Descendant from what I saw, controls sound waves.
Daigo made his way up the enormous hills. Usually, he would be gasping for breath between curses, but Doomscyther's punishments apparently had made him a lot stronger. He dreaded telling Yugo about cheating, but it was necessary to do, if he was to keep Doomscyther from progressing further in the tournament. Also, he couldn't live with himself after winning unfairly.
That's stupid. Doomscyther started cleaning his dirty nails on the chain. Very stupid.
I know.
First, he had made a call to the WBBA, or World Beyblade Association. Then he knocked on the door to the dojo.
Robin:
After school, she ran to the dojo to start her training for the day. Robin came every day at some point, whether it be midnight or three A.M. Ukyo greeted her.
"Hey, Robin," he said, smiling.
"Hey," she replied. "Thanks for not jump-scaring me."
He grinned, showing surprisingly sharp teeth. Then he disappeared."You mean like this?" the ninja whispered in her ear.
The Descendant yowled and jumped two feet in the air. "Maybe I spoke too soon."
She was about to go into the dojo, but then stopped, sensing Xander coming. "Sensei?"
He smiled at her, then waved a hand at the crowd gathering, made of the students there. "Oh, hi guys! Actually, I need to find Yugo and Ukyo."
"Right here." Yugo pushed his way to the front, dragging a surprised blue ninja with him. "What is it?"
"Hang on." Xander turned to the others. "Everyone, could you please go back inside? It's nothing to worry about."
"What do you think this is about?" Lily, one of her friends asked her. "There aren't many serious things here, except that Yugo lost to Daigo." She sighed. "Poor Yugo."
Hmm... I saw a bit of light during the second match, and Daigo's aura got darker during that time... I think I'd better check.
"I don't like that look on your face," Lily frowned. "Let me guess; you're going outside to try to figure this out. Aren't y- Hey! Where'd you go!"
Robin got outside, hiding behind Ukyo, who didn't seem to notice. She peeked over his shoulder, and her face whitened.
It was Daigo.
"Yugo," he was saying. "You're going to compete in the next round."
"I lost," he said, confused.
"I cheated."
Dead silence, but the boy managed to continue. "I called WBBA, and made them promise you'd be in the next round. I made sure of i-"
Yugo snapped.
"WHAT!" he roared, much louder than Valt had ever been. Robin was pretty sure the people in the Americas would be able to hear it. "You CHEATED? You disgusting piece of vermin! You shouldn't be alive!" He moved forward to strike him. Daigo tensed, watching his hand, but made no move to run.
Ukyo put his hand on Yugo's shoulder, stopping him with a shake of his head. "I've got a question, though," he said with that unnatural calm that made the others stare at him. Robin shifted her stance so she could be hidden and see what was happening.
"Why did you tell us? You could have just gotten away with it and we wouldn't have known the difference."
Robin watched Daigo hesitate to speak, looked like he might just leave. Then he told the others, "I just couldn't live with myself." Cliche, but he's telling the truth.
Yugo snorted. "Likely. Get off this mountain! There is no place here for cheaters, and more importantly, no place for weak, pathetic, monsters like you!"
Daigo bowed, the same way Yugo and Robin did. Then he turned around to leave. An angry howl of pain stopped him and made him turn around.
Robin had enough of what Yugo had said. She understood the anger, but most of what he said were unnecessary insults. Daigo had done nothing about it, and the fury inside her was building.
That's enough, Yugo Nansui. You're dead now.
Robin launched herself at Yugo, punching him between the shoulderblades- a very sensitive spot. He flinched slightly and pivoted, grabbing Robin by the shoulders. Since Yugo had plenty of experience with martial arts, he shoved his arm across her throat, and twisted his left hand around the back of her neck to make it tighter. She went limp, and could barely hear Daigo yelling. Then Yugo released her, and she fell to the dirt.
Or should have.
Although he was really strong, Yugo had a habit of underestimating opponents, Robin included. She had grabbed him by the ends of his jacket and used it to flip over his head. Then both were in the air.
"Xander, let go!"Yugo yelled, struggling.
"I'm going to destroy him for that," the girl snarled, beating at Xander's hand, holding her up six feet in the air.
"No. No destroying other people and no- augh!"
Yugo twisted to the other side and grabbed on to Xander's hand with his foot, so his wrist turned the wrong way. Robin just squeezed the wrist until the giant redhead let go.
Then they were attacking each other again.
Daigo:
Xander thought for a moment and then sprinted the other way, towards another building.
I've got to help her!
NO. You're going to stop and watch
I've got to help Robin! She shouldn't be doing this!
It's her problem, not yours.
He watched Robin get tossed and land on her left foot, stumbling, but righting herself. Yugo raced at her and punched her. She stumbled and fell sideways. Daigo heard a loud crack, and Robin cursed. Daigo guessed that was either her left foot or her jaw when Yugo hit her. Probably her jaw.
Daigo felt Doomscyther raging in his head, and his mini self fighting against it, trying to get to Robin. He put one foot forward, and then Doomscyther cursed and drove his scythe into mini him.
It didn't kill Daigo, but the part of him that was putting up a fight died. Doomscyther raged around his head, basically destroying everything and attacking the nerves collected at his head. So most of them, and it hurt a LOT.
Daigo cried out, trying to make the pain in his head stop. Ukyo, trying to grab Yugo and hold him back, disappeared and reappeared at his side. "Breathe," he told him. "Tell Doomscyther to be quiet and leave you alone."
"You- you knew?" Another wave of pain crashed into him, and he sat down hard.
"After listening to Robin ask your brother a few questions." Ukyo tilted his head. "Do you want me to knock you out, or--
"Just stop the fight." Remembering that part of the reason Doomscyther now hated his was because of poor manner, he added, "please."
WIithout warning, Ukyo yanked off his bandanna. Daigo yelped and scrambled to put it back on. Before that happened, though, two cold hands touched his forehead, and the pain lessened. I'm not complaining, but his power is self-levitating! How?
Robin's anger had cooled off a lot, and now the only thing in her eyes was panic. It was evident that Yugo was twice as skilled as her, and twice as confident. All she was doing was defending, and when the Mohawk-boy slammed her against the dojo's outer wall, there was no hope in her eyes.
Until-
"ENOUGH!" Xande was racing towards them, with a man beside him. The other man was old, but stood tall and strong, his long white hair tied in a bun. From the similarities between the way they moved, Daigo figured this was Xander's grandfather.
Xander's grandpa stopped next to the two brawling idiots and grabbed each by the back of the collar. Then he easily pulled them away. Yugo had a bloody nose, courtesy of Robin's panicked fists. Robin was leaning on her right foot a lot, making Daigo worry about that loud crack that he had heard earlier.
"Who started it?" the man asked, looking at Robin and Yugo, though he noticed the man's eyes slid sideways, staring at him.
"Me." Robin's shoulders slumped, like she knew exactly what was coming. She probably did.
"And Yugo provoked you."
Her shoulders curled inward. "More or less."
He glanced at him again, and he shrugged. Then Doomscyther caused the headache to get worse, and he hissed. Ukyo hesitated. "I'm not sure how to help you, though I'm pretty sure it's going to get worse."
His head throbbed, a second heartbeat. "Ow."
The grandpa sighed. "You know the rules. You are not to start a match off the mats. Yugo, you certainly know better. Since Yugo did not technically initiate the fight, you leave the mountains for three days."
Yugo's face turned emotionless, a reaction Daigo used a lot to hide pain or sadness. "Yes, Sensei Kaito."
"And Robin, you know the rules too. You cannot come back for a month."
That hurt Robin a lot, he could tell. But she bowed and went to get her stuff too. "Yes, Sensei."
"And you, Daigo."
That surprised him. "Yes?"
"I'd like to speak to you."
Robin turned to look at him, putting weight on her right foot. "I'll wait for you off the mountain, alright?"
He nodded. "See you later."
She walked off, wincing slightly.
"Daigo Kurogami," Kaito said slowly, in the med area. "You're the one with Doomscizor."
"Doomscyther."
Kaito frowned. "That's strange. Never mind. I wanted to ask, first, about why Ukyo was trying to heal you, second, why you never got surgery."
Daigo flinched."h-how did you know about- wait. Ukyo's a healer?"
"Yes. I've been training him. He told me about the, ah, other thing."
"My brother got surgery. I didn't need it." Daigo fidgeted. "Ukyo was just healing an annoying headache."
"And failed." Kaito shrugged. "Just be careful. Also, I have an offer. I noticed how you could have gotten away with that cheat, but didnt. Is it actually because it didn't feel right?"
Daily looked slightly triggered. "It's not like I like being near Angery! I... I wanted to win so badly, Doomscyther used that weak point to get in my head and control me. After thst, I couldn't face anyone until I fixed that. I kinda hurt someone else because I screwed up. That's not something I want to do. I want to help people, not mess up their careers!" He turned red. "Sorry. That was so cliche."
Kaito nodded. " It was, but you got your point across. I'm teaching Ukyo because an can pass on my healing powers. So here's my offer. "
Five minutes later, Daigo left the mountain with Doomscyther back as prisoner, and a way to get start working for his doctor's degree.
"Ow!" Robin yelled, swatting at him.
"Hold still. If it didn't hurt, that'd be weird."
He had told her to go to the hospital, after seeing her swollen ankle. After refusing, Daigo dragged her to her and Shu's apartment. Since she couldn't do it herself, Robin had told him where to steal Shu's med supplies. Now, he was guessing she regretted it.
"It told you to hold still."
"Sorry. Ouch!" Robin squeezed her fists tighter. "Are you done torturing me yet?"
"Um, just that and... yep, you can move around now." Daigo closed an enormous book he had kept in his backpack. He watched her sit up, test her foot.
"Thanks. Soooo, what did Sensei want to speak to you about?"
"Eh. Just why Ukyo was trying to use healing power. It's not like were in a video game."
She frowned. "Something's going on that I don't know about."
Daigo said nothing.
Robin out!
