WARRING CRIME LORDS USING GOTHAM AS THEIR BATTLEFIELD

The crime syndicates of Gotham City have returned to their violent ways, and this time, they're attacking each other. Since last Friday, the Gotham City Police Department has recorded four sightings of the once-friendly mob bosses ― the Joker and the Siren ― and their strikes against each other.

The duo, infamous for their insanity and their transgressions against Gotham citizens, can usually be seen working side by side as they rob banks. In the past couple years of their reign, they've consistently worked together to escape the grip of the GCPD. However, as of late they've taken to repeating each other's past crimes. In some instances, according to Lieutenant James Gordon of the GCPD, they appear to be "trying to outdo the other's, dare I say it...accomplishments".

This trend started Friday night, when the Siren released pounds of broken glass over a group of citizens unlucky enough to be in Gotham National Bank. This offense, which unmistakably mirrors a deed the Joker executed just last month at a local bank, injured the bank's residents, rendering them helpless to stop the Siren from stealing thousands of dollars worth of cash from the bank's vaults. In more than one case, a stray piece of glass proved to be fatal for bank employees.

At other crime scenes, the Joker and the Siren have left each other's symbols spray-painted on walls and doors. The symbols have been painted over with a red 'X' in every instance of the insignia-painting.

In the midst of the chaos around us, most of which is being caused by those who should be locked in Arkham Asylum, the citizens of Gotham can't help but wonder why Batman hasn't stepped in to stop the destruction. His signal can be seen in the night sky and yet, every night, a member of the deranged crime duo decides to strike again. Has the Dark Knight finally abandoned us? I think I speak for all of Gotham when I say: we can only hope and pray that he has not.
