A couple months passed, and Shikamaru could finally get the cast on his arm removed. Shikamaru looked up at him. "I feel bad. This is exactly what you were afraid of, right?"

Naruto sat up and shook his head. "No. I was afraid they were going to make me leave you so you could be with a woman." He looked down at Shikadai. "While I'm not happy with the way he's here, I am glad that the situation seemed to solve itself."

"Are you saying you're glad I was raped?"

Naruto looked up at him quickly and saw Shikamaru looking at him with an eyebrow raised. "No! Of course not!" he shouted, hands raised.

Shikadai jumped at the loud voice, but then settled again.

"Sorry," Naruto said as he rubbed the back of his neck, unsure if he was saying that to Shikadai or Shikamaru. "All I meant was that I'm glad something good came from a bad situation."

Shikamaru looked back down at Shikadai and smiled. "Me too."

"Do you know what they did with Temari?" he asked. Not long after they brought Shikadai home, they had found out the woman's name, and that they had started trying to get information from her, but he didn't know what happened after that.

"Thanks to Inoichi, they've gotten some information from her, but as far as I'm aware, she's just sitting in the Interrogation Core's holding room. Who knows when she'll be released or transferred to someplace else."

"Why would they release her?" Naruto asked, a bit aggravated at the thought.

"Dad mentioned something about a treaty. Lady Tsunade thinks they might be able to convince them to become allies with us in exchange for Temari."

"You think it will work?"

"Don't know. They've been discussing it for almost a month now," Shikamaru said as he took the bottle out of Shikadai's mouth, put a burp rag over his shoulder, and placed the baby there to burp him. "Hopefully something comes of it soon. I'd rather that woman wasn't in the same village as me."

Naruto reached up and ran his finger over the baby's cheek as Shikamaru patted the baby's back, and suddenly a loud burp came from the boy. "Geez, kid. You sound like Kiba."

Shikamaru laughed as he settled Shikadai back in his arm to finish feeding him. "I'm glad you're getting along with everyone better."

"All except Sakura. Even Ino's started to be nicer to me, but Sakura just won't let up."

Shikamaru sighed. "She may be a lost cause."

Naruto frowned at that. "Maybe."

"Naruto, do you want to help me with dinner? I'm making something new tonight," Yoshino asked from the doorway.

"Yeah!" Naruto cried out as he stood, making Shikadai jump again. "Sorry, Shikadai," he said, then placed a kiss on the boy's forehead and on his boyfriend's lips before turning and heading for the kitchen.

Naruto paid close attention as Yoshino explained how to make the new dish, and by the time it was done, Naruto was beaming. Yoshino pretty much let him make it himself, and he had to admit that it turned out pretty good. Even Shikaku and Shikamaru said so.

Shikamaru laughed and pulled Naruto back down. "Alright. I'll see if mom will watch Shikadai for us while we go."

Naruto tightened his arm around Shikamaru, the grin getting wider. He was going to be moving into an apartment with Shikamaru. He'll be able to take what he's learned from Yoshino and put it to good use. He closed his eyes as a tear escaped his eye.

Shikamaru smiled back at him and kissed the top of his face. "And I'll do whatever I can to keep you that way. I don't ever want to see you upset again."

Naruto took a deep breath and settled back down on Shikamaru's chest, the boy's steady heartbeat lulling him to sleep.

The next morning, they ate breakfast and asked Yoshino to watch Shikadai for them. Naruto explained happily what they wanted to do, and Yoshino just laughed as she agreed to watch the boy for them. Naruto literally dragged Shikamaru to the apartment complex he had mentioned, and after an hour, they had the keys to their new apartment.

It took them the rest of the day to move their things into their newly furnished apartment, Asuma and Choji helping out after they heard, and by nightfall that night, the three were saying goodbye to the others.

Naruto spun around in the living room as Shikamaru sat down on the couch, Shikadai in his arms. "I can't believe this is our new home, Shikamaru. It's a whole lot bigger than my old apartment."

"But smaller than the house," Shikamaru added.

"Yeah, but I'm sure you'll adjust in no time," Naruto joked.

Shikamaru laughed as Naruto plopped down on the couch, and he placed his arm around the blonde's shoulder, causing Naruto to lay his head down on the dark haired boy's shoulder. He kissed the top of Naruto's head. "Are you happy?"

"More than ever," Naruto replied as he ran his hand over Shikadai's head. "I love you, I love Shikadai, I love our new apartment," he looked up at the boy's face, "and I love my life."

Shikamaru kissed the blonde. "I'm glad."

"I'm actually surprised at how fast we were able to get in."

"Well, you did see how eager he was to get 'the heir to the Nara clan' in his apartments," Shikamaru said, quoting the man's words.

Naruto laughed. "Yeah. I'm just glad I didn't ruin our chance."

"Naruto, people are changing their perspective of you. I haven't seen many people glaring or giving you dirty looks for a few months now."

"Thanks to you. If you weren't my boyfriend, then I'm sure they'd still be treating me the same way."

"I think it's because people are finally seeing you for who you really are. I may have made them open their eyes, but it's you who changed them."

Naruto smiled up at him. "Thanks, Shikamaru." He sat up enough to capture the boy's lips, placing his hand behind the boy's to pull him in deeper.

Shikamaru allowed it for a few minutes, then pushed the blonde away. "Why don't we go lay Shikadai down and give our new bed a proper greeting."

Naruto smiled back at him and they couldn't get Shikadai to his new room fast enough. As soon as they set foot in their new room, Naruto attacked Shikamaru, throwing his arms around the boy's neck, and pushed him back towards the bed. They shed their clothes on the way to the bed, and Shikamaru laid Naruto on the bed, lips attached to his, and hands already roaming the blonde's body.
