Chapter two

Washington, DC White House

President Roberts paced back and forth in the oval. The mood inside was tense and deadly serious. She glanced over to her chief of staff and to her National security who were sitting across from the Resolute desk. The call she was about to make the Russian foreign minister would confirm or deny one thing: that President Putin had no intention of leaving Ukraine alone. It wasn't just that a Russian Oligarch had been poisoned during a meeting in Turkey. She was nobody's for sure, they had tried to assassinate her in Berlin and her own VP had conspired against her with a secretive group called the Old Guard that was put together by the Chairman of the Joint intelligence committee but that was all behind her now.

She punched in the number for the foreign minister on the red phone, put it on speaker before she spoke in an authoritative tone. "Mr. Foreign minister, I can assure you that in no way that Kremlin has no plans to invade Ukraine, because if you do I promise you regret."

"Madame President, I have no idea what you're talking about," The Russian foreign minister told her in a cautious tone.

"Really, I find that hard to believe and I know what you're capable of doing," President Roberts said sternly.

The line crackled dead on the other end; and she knew that was not a good sign at all. It meant only that President Putin and his cronies were indeed going to invade Ukraine, she knew that The Russians wanted Crimea back and they would Whatever it took to get back.Although her administration didn't do regime change, she sensed that if they didn't anything about it soon, that the things were about to get increasingly worse for them with the Russians and Chinese in the Arctic working together and not to mention that SVR had increased their spying activity in their Embassies.

"What are my options?" President Roberts asked her chief of chief.

"Madame President, we could just leave it to the Russian people to sort out what to do with their own President," the chief of staff stated.

"That's the  not good option. You know what happens to those critics who oppose the Russian President. Remember what happened to that ex KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko in London? They poisoned him to send a message to all those who oppose him," President Roberts told her chief of staff.

"Madame President, that was different. Litvinenko was a Russian ex KGB agent who went against his own Russian security services. What are you suggesting we do about President Putin, then? The national security inquired.

President Roberts thought for a moment before she said anything. Yes, that was different, but if the Kremlin got that Port city in Ukraine it would be an endgame for them. She slammed her fist on the Resolute desk as she raised her eyebrow and says. "Get me, Director Hamilton and Holiday now!"

The national security reached into his pocket, pulled out his burner and entered the ten-digital secure encrypted number for Director Hamilton at the Central Intelligence Agency, but  when she mentioned Holiday it sent a chill down his back, and knew all too well about Night drop and Holiday.

Director Hamilton snatched up her burner on desk as she spoke. "Director Hamilton"

"Director Hamilton, President Roberts would like to see you and Holiday in the Oval office Immediately, " the national security told her.

"You can tell President Roberts that we'll be right there," Director Hamilton replied, ending the conversation on her burner.

The national security placed his burner back into his pocket inside his suit as he looked over at President Roberts and nodded at her that it was done. He knew what President Roberts had in mind, but with those precautions, if it backfired on them. Unlike his predecessor, who was the National security who'd put Night drop together, the only thing that he knew was an off the books black program and that was it.

President Roberts strolled over to the window that looked out into the Roosevelt garden. The former President before, though it was best to best friends with the dictators of rogue countries, while the Russians had financed his campaign and believed the Russian President over his intel chiefs. And Then there was the storming of the capital.

When she was senator on the Action Committee, she oversaw a lot of  black budget passing that she had approved for the CIA, DIA, and Access special programs. Now it was time to put this knowledge to work for her. She pivoted as she strode over to the desk and sat down in the chair behind it.

"For this work, I have  to  have no knowledge of this understand," President Roberts told her national security advisor.

He nodded, knowing that it could ruin her presidency if it came out that she had planned a assassination of a foreign leader. Over the years,  Presidents had tried to assassinate rogue leaders who were a treat to national security. She'd remembered when she was a child seeing the news that President Kennedy had been killed by lone gunmen, but in her heart she knew something wasn't right. The fear that her own Intelligence Agency was that powerful sent a chill down her spine.

"You are going to need to be the best long distance shooter for Madame President, I mean the Kremlin be guarded with Russian Spetsnaz counter-snipers and there's no chance of getting close," the national security advisor told her.

That wasn't a problem for her; she knew who she wanted for it, and there was one name she could think of: Eric the Red. He was their best chance at doing this. Plus, he officially didn't exist, so if the operation went awry there wouldn't be any problem to deny that he worked for the CIA.

There was a saying when there was a dicey problem to be handled " People sleep peacefully at night knowing rough men do harm on their behalf."

"I think you should reconsider what you are thinking of doing Madame President, maybe we can use one of the Oligarchs to leverage Russia," The chief of staff stated in a concerned tone.

"No, I will not let Russia take that port city," President Roberts scowled in a demanding tone.

"Let's say we discreetly remove President Putin from power, then someone worse than him takes over the Kremlin. Our intel suggest the Bratva the Russian Mafia," the national security explained to her.

"Then we deal with it when the time comes," President Roberts stated.

She knew that Russia was becoming more dangerous each moment; and she had seen the proof herself from an ex KGB black operator had gotten to her unsanctioned black ops group that SVR dispatched several sleeper cells to infiltrate the echelons of the government, that was enough for her and now she was going to take the war to Russia!
