No One's POV

The two swords clashed, as the warriors face off in a fierce battle, and the crowd cheers loudly. One warrior is a girl with purple eyes, purple hair, and wears glasses. The other, a male with brown hair, brown spikes coming up from his beard, and wears a mask. Moving so fast, that everyone can only tell where they are going by the purple and orange lights of their swords. They both throw strikes at each other, but only for the other to dodge. The man strikes at the girl, but she dodges by doing a backflip. When she lands, she is heavily breathing, and they just stare each other down. Light shines from under them, and surrounds their swords. The girl blasts forwards, while them male tries to counter by striking straight, and the girl jumps up, and strikes down. The male is surrounded by some purple chains, while his mask breaks in half. The girl is on the ground, bleeding from her side, and her glasses cracked.

"I'm sorry...(Y/n) and Ayato..." The girl says

Narrators POV

During the previous century, an unprecedented disaster, know as the Invertia , struck the planet, and drastically changed the world as we knew it. The powers of existing nations declined significantly. And paved the way, for the integrated enterprise foundation conglomerate, to seize leadership. As time passed, global perceptions of ethics and principals were forever altered. But despite this turn of events, Invertia also gave the world new potential.

(Y/n)'s POV

Walking with my best friend, and half-brother, Ayato. His family adopted me when I was only four years old. When I got older, I decided to keep my original last name, but was taught some Amigiri Shinmei Styles. They granted me permission to change it to my last name do I'd feel more comfortable.

I see a handkerchief with roses on the side, and catch it.

"Oh great!" I hear a girl say, and I look up to an open window. "I can't believe this!"

"Oh, I see." I say, and turn to Ayato, and get a nod from him. A light shines from under me and I jump up onto a tree branch, and grab it with my free hand, then jump off that and onto the windowsill.

A new species of humans were born, graced with phenomenal physical abilities called Genestella.

"I don't mean to intrude but-what the?!" I yell, blushing, seeing a pink haired girl with blue eyes pulling up her skirt, and hasn't buttoned up her shirt.

The young men and woman of the Genestella, vie for supremacy in the battle entertainment called Festus. This is Rika, the academy city on the water. Also known as Asterisk.

"Uhh...I uh..." I start "I'M SO SORRY!" I yell, covering my eyes. "I mean...I uh..." She drops her skirt. "I only came up here to bring you the handkerchief I found outside!"

"Turn around now." The girl demands "You heard me! I told you to turn around right now!"

"AH! Sorry!" I yell, turning around. 'Hold on a minute, I only came up here to return this to its rightful owner. Maybe if I can find a way to explain that to her, she'll understand.' I thought to myself

"Okay, I'm done." She tells me, still blushing when I turn around. "Well, hand it over!"

"H-Ha-whaaaa-?" I say, still completely flustered.

"Didn't you just say something a handkerchief?!" She yells

"O-oh, yea that's right." I say, pulling the handkerchief out of my pocket. "Here it is." I say

"Thank goodness." She says, looking like she's about to cry.

"It is yours then." I say, hopping in her room "That's what I thought when I saw the open window."

"Yes, it is. I appreciate this." She sorta thanks me "It's something very special to me."

"Oh! It's nothing, I just happened to be walking by with my friend." I say rubbing my head.

"Still, I am in your debt. You have my eternal gratitude." She tells me, bowing like I'm some kind of king.

"H-hey! You don't need to bow! I just brought you a handkerchief!" I say

"Now then. I think it is about time for us to get back to business." She tells me, while a light shines under her.

"Yea..." I say

"Prepare, to die." She tells me, pointing her hand at me.

'This feeling.' I thought, starting to run towards the window 'A Strega?'

"Burst into bloom..." She starts "AMARYLLIS!" When she finishes, a giant explosion bursts out of her hand, but I luckily jump out in time, and land near Ayato.

"What happened?" Ayato asks

"I'll explain later!" I say

When the smoke clears, she is floating down to us.

"Impressive, you escaped without even a scratch on you." She tells me, then lands on the ground. "So be it, you better be careful, because I'm playing to win."

"Woah! Literally a second ago you were just eternally grateful! What happened to that?" I ask

"Make no mistake, I'm very grateful for you efforts." She tells me

"S-" I start

"However! You infiltrated the girls dorms, and spied on an undressed maiden." She tells me, balling her hand into a fist. "The only satisfactory punishment is for you to die!"

"I understand the whole situation now." Ayato says

"Don't you think that's going a little far?" I ask

"Don't worry, if you just stand there, I'll just cook you well-done." She tells me

'Crap, she's going to roast me alive if I don't do something in the next five seconds.' I thought "Look, it's only my first day at this school! I had no idea it was the girls dorms! Believe me! I swear I'm telling the truth!"

"I see. I'll believe that much." She tells me, as I let out a sigh of relief. "But! My anger won't be dispelled that easily, sorry to say!"

"Somehow, I honestly doubt you're sorry at all." I say

"Tell me your name!" She yells

"(Y/n) (L/n)." I introduce myself.

"I'm Julis. And I'm Rank 5 at Seidoukan Academy." Julis introduces herself.

"Probably didn't need to know your rank, but thanks anyways..." I say

"So, in the unfaltering name of the Red Lotus, I, Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld, hereby challenge you, (Y/n) (L/n), to a duel." Julis challenges me, tapping her badge, causing a light to shine from her badge to mine.

"Somehow, I don't think that's your full name, so thanks for keeping it sorta short." I say

"Should you win, I will accept your excuse, and withdraw." Julis says, as someone starts recording. "But if I win, your fate will be subjected to any and all of my wins."

"What?! This is crazy!" I yell

"We have duels here in Asterisk. Surely you know that." Julis tells me

"Of course, but I don't have a sword with me." I say

"Then try using this one!" Someone in the crowd yells, throwing me a sword, as I catch it.

I activate the sword, and a blue light sword forms, causing the whole crowd to cheer.

"Let's go."  Julis says, as a sword falls out from under her skirt, and she catches it, and a pink light blade forms.

"Wait! Where were you hiding that?! Like seriously?!" I ask

"Never mind that!" She yells "Looks like the stage is set, doesn't it?"

"I, (Y/n) (L/n), accept your challenge, and I swear to fight honorably." I accept

"I take it you're familiar with the rules." Julis says, as our names were shown for everyone to see. "The person who breaks the other school badge wins."

"Right." I say

"Starting countdown! 3! 2! 1! Let the duel begin!"

"Now let's do this! Burst into Bloom! LONGIFLORUM!" Julis yells, as a bunch of spears of fire are shot at me. I break one, dodge another, then break the other two. "Next wave. Longiflorum! Try to dodge the spears at this speed. GO!" I use my sword to block one, and get blown back, but land on my feet. Then I break the next two, and barely dodge the last one, but it hits the tree behind me, and bursts.

"Hey look! New kids holding his own!" Someone in the crowd yells

"Not to shabby." Another says

"The Princess must be holding back." A girl says

"He's strong. An average opponent would've been reduced to cinders." Julis mumbles "I clearly have the upper hand, but something is off. Let's find out what it is."

"What did you say?" I ask

"Nothing to concern yourself about." Julis tells me, as a orange light appears from under her. "Burst into Bloom! Amaryllis!" She launches a giant fire ball at me.

I run up towards the ball, and jump right in front of the fire.

"Trying to dodge and attack? Well, nice try." Julis says "Explode!" She balls her hand, and the ball of fire explodes. "An explosion at that proximity should finish him off."

"(L/n) Shinmei Style, Twin Dragons!" I yell, slicing horizontally, and then vertically, breaking through the explosion, getting close to her.

"No way!" She yells, putting up her hand. Then out of the corner of my eye, I see a light spear flying at us.

"GET DOWN! NOW!" I yell, clasping my hand in hers, and tackle her out of the path the arrow was taking. When she looks up on me on top of her, she loses it.

"What exactly are you doing?!" She yells at me, noticing that I disregarded what she said, and looked over to where I was, seeing the light spear dissipating. "That spear of light was clearly aimed at me, but he saved me anyway." She says under her breath. "Why did you do that?"

"Huh? Well, shouldn't you ask the person who shot that at you?" I ask

"I didn't mean that! I want to know why you-" She stops when she notices where my hand was placed, causing both of us to blush. With a mind of its own, my hand squeezes, causing her to blush even more.

Flustered, I quickly get off her. "Hey, look. I am so sorry!"

"See that? That bastard just got a handful!" Someone in the crowd yells.

"I guess that's one way to hit it off." Another says

"I know this looks really bad, but I swear, it's not what you think!" I yell

A blue glow appears under Julis, as she stands up straight, and small fires surround her. "How dare you. How dare you!"

"But, I..." I start, then I hear two claps from the crowd.

"Now, now." A girl says, as Julis and I look over and see a blonde haired girl, with a chest way bigger then someone our age should have. "I believe that is quite enough. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to invalidate this particular dual."

"Oh, it's you." Julis says "Who gave you the authority to interfere?" The girl just taps her badge, and smiles.

"By the power invested in me, as the representative of this school, this duel is voided." When she finishes, both mine and Julis' badges shine. "Sorry, but his paper work isn't fully completed yet. So (Y/n) (L/n) isn't a full-fledged student yet." For the first time, she opened her eyes, and I can see her purple eyes.

"Well, surprising. Thanks, uhhh.." I start to thank her.

"Right. I have yet to properly introduce myself. Student Council President, Claudia Enfield." She introduces herself "It's a pleasure to meet you."

~Time Skip~

Me and Claudia are walking to her office, when she tells me something that shocks me.

"Wait! You're a first year student too Miss President?" I ask

"Yes I am! My time here began during Junior High, so this is actually my third term." Claudia explains

"Wow." I say

"And, since you and I are in the same grade, speak to me in a more formal manner." She tells me

"How about, Miss Claudia?" I ask

"Claudia is just fine." Claudia tells me "If it's all the same to you."

"But, you're the school rep so-" I start, but get cut off by her running in front of me.

"Call. Me. Clau. Di. A" She demands

"Okay, okay. You win Claudia." I say

"There." She says

"Well, then just call me (Y/n)." I say

"Certainly (Y/n)." She says

"You don't need to be so polite you know." I tell her

"Don't you worry your cute little self about it. It's just a habit of mine." She explains

"What do you mean?" I ask

"I'm very devious you see." She explains "Therefore, I keep a courteous façade to conceal my true nature."

"Devious huh?" I ask

"Yes, exceedingly so." Claudia says "Inside me, thoughts so devious that it's like they're created in a pitch dark abyss and covered in black honey. Actually, would you like to take a look?"

"Wha-?" I start to ask, but she pulls up her shirt a bit, and pulls a bit of her skirt down, showing a bit of her panties to me.

"See? Devious." She says "Pitch black."

"WOAHHHH!" I yell covering my face with one hand, and sticking my other hand out. "What do you think you're doing?!"

"Hahahah. Just kidding." She says, putting her shirt down.

"Haaaaa..." I sigh out in relief.

She claps her hands together, and puts them up to her face. "You are just to cute for words!"

~Time Skip~

"Right this way please." She tells me, as her curtains automatically open. "And here we are. I humbly welcome you to Asterisk." I look out the window, and see a beautiful view of the city. "Now then (Y/n). As a scholarship transfer student to Seidoukan Academy, there is only one thing we expect of you, victory. Garrardworth, Arlequint, Jie Long, Rewolf, Queenvail, and finally Seidoukan. The top Genestella in the world are chosen to join these six schools, where they will then battle for supremacy. They are called Festas. As Genestella's, we are mankind's greatest innovation, the desperate clashes attract worldwide audiences to watch the fights. You could even say, the city's existence is made for that purpose. However, in the recent years, our school records have been quite dismal. (Y/n), please triumph at the Festa. Do so, and the school will grant your best desires. As long as it can be realized in this world,   you might as well consider it yours."

I scratch my head. "I'm very sorry, but that type of thing doesn't really interest me." I say

"Is that right?" Claudia asks, sitting in her chair "Well then, why'd you pick this school?"

I have flashbacks to mine and Ayato's sister, chains surrounding us, and us falling on the ground.

"Before I go on, I need to ask you something first." I say "Is it true that mine and Ayato's sister went to this school? Her name was Haruka Amagiri."

"I think I'll be able to answer that." She tells me, typing on a tablet of light, and my sister's school ID popped up in front of me, but all pixelated.

"What's all this?" I ask

"It's all the data for a female student who once attended this school." Claudia explains "She enrolled five years ago, and left six months after for personal reasons. All the other data has been deleted."

'It's her...' I thought

"It would appear she never competed in any Festa's. There is also no record of her in any of the named cults. Honestly, whether or not she actually attended Seidoukan is a little suspect. However." She taps another button, and a weapon called Ser-Veresta appeared

"What is that?" I ask

"The Ser-Veresta, an Orga Lux owned by Seidoukan Academy." She explains

"Seriously?" I ask

"That's right. It's an extremely powerful weapon, made of erm manadite. Among all Ser-Veresta, this is the most infamous. As well as the most feared. We manage all the Orga Lux's check out records and the corresponding combat data. Although, despite there being no record of it being checked out, parts of its combat data still remain." Claudia explains

"And this data is from five years ago?" I ask

"Correct. This is just speculation, but she most likely doesn't attend this academy anymore, I'm very sorry." She apologizes

I have a flashback of her walking away, as I'm laying on the ground. I close my eyes. "Thanks. But it's okay. It's not as if the only reason I came was to look for her."

"Oh? Really now? Then why are you here?" She asks me

"Hm. To save all the complicated stuff, I guess to find my true purpose in life." I explain

"You're rather ambitious, aren't you?" Claudia asks, winking. "By the way, scholarship transfer students are given priorities regarding Orga Lux's. So take your pick."

"Really? So, could I choose the Ser-Veresta?" I ask

"Of course." Claudia tells me

"Well, since it's available and all, I guess I could take a look at it." I say

"Well, I'll arrange it for you in that case. But, until then, use this as your weapon." She tells me, holding out a sword.

"Thanks." I say, grabbing the sword. "Oh, and by the way."

"Something wrong?" Claudia asks

"What's up with that final transfer paperwork you mentioned after the fight?" I ask her

"So you remembered." She says, walking behind me. "The thing about that is..." She then suddenly hugs me from behind.

"Hey! What the?" I ask "Claudia, what are you doing?"

"At last." She says "At last, we're finally meeting."

"Uhhh...I uh." I stutter

"Got you, huh?" She asks me, backing up.

"So, what about that paperwork?" I ask again

"That's right! I lied!" She tells me

"You what?" I asked

"Well, I knew Julis would stand down if I said you weren't an official student yet. Lying to her was the quickest way for me to rescue you." She explains "She always plays by the book. There are no more i's to dot, or t's to cross. Rest assured."

~Time Skip~

"Hey! Pay attention kiddies!" My new teacher tells the class, getting ready to introduce me to the class. "This dude is (L/n), and that one is Amagiri, they are the new transfer guys."

"Don't make them cry, or I'll kick your ass." She tells the class, pointing her bat with nails in it out at the class. "Now let's see. Oh perfect. (Y/n), the seat next to your girlfriend is open. Go sit in it."

"Since when am I his girlfriend?!" Julis yells, getting up from her seat.

"Since this morning, apparently." The teacher tells her, as I walk over to the seat. "Or did you forget about all the drama you caused?"

"Who would've thought we would've ended in the same class?" I ask

"Amigiri, back corner is your seat." The teacher tells Ayato, as he walks towards his seat. "Alright, let's start back up."

"This can not be happening." Julis says

~Time Skip~

Class just ended, and everyone is walking out.

"Look, I know we had a rough start, but I would like for us to be friends." I say to Julis.

"Look, I'm grateful for you saving my life this morning." She thanks me in her own weird way again.

"Don't mention it. So we good now?" I ask

Julis puts her hand up to her chest, and starts off into space.

'Uh oh...I think she's having a flashback of this morning.' I thought

"I won't go as far as saying I'm not mad, but you did still save me." She tells me "With that being said, I'm now in your debt."

"My debt?" I ask

"Yes. You will be able to have my aid in one time of need. We will not consort further than that." She says, walking away.

"Uhhh..." I say, confused about what just happened.

"Eheheheh." The guy behind me starts laughing. "That sucks bro. But being shot down by the princess can't be helped. She's really good at keeping people at arms length. I'm Eishiro Yabuki. If what I was told is true, we're roomies. Along with Amagiri. Nice to meet you two."

"You too." Ayato says

~Time Skip~

"Hey Eishiro, you called Julis, Princess earlier. That her nickname?" I asked

"No way. She's the genuine article." Eishiro says

"What?" Ayato asks

"You know how the monarchies all over Europe have been returning to power since the Invertia?" He asks "Well, one is called Lieseltania, and Julis is the Crown Princess. And, if that wasn't enough as it is, she is one of the few Genestella who is a Strega."

"Wow, you really have done your homework on her. Kinda creeps me out..." I say

"Hey, I'm a member of the newspaper club." He tells me

"But why would a Princess be battling it out here?" I ask

"And that is the million dollar question." Eishiro says "Pretty, strong, and a Princess on top of all that. Think she would love the attention, but she's like 'Everyone shut up! Leave me alone! Don't look at me!' It's crazy you know."

"Well, I wish you never did that impression of her, cause that is scarred into my ears now. But I'm not surprised by that." I say

"The ones who didn't like that challenged her to duels, but were instantly defeated one by one. Because of this, she soared to Rank Five pretty quickly. In the process, she became the Solitary Princess she is today." Eishiro explains

"Really? She seemed really popular during our duel." I say

"Speaking of your duel. (Y/n), you need to give that sword back to Eishiro." Ayato tells me

"Oh yea. Here you go." I say holding out the sword during my duel against Julis. "Meant to thank you for this, but if you haven't given it to me, she probably would've let me go, so I don't know why I'm thanking you."

"Hold on. How'd you know it was me Ayato?" Eishiro asks

"Your voice I guess." Ayato tells him

"So, out of every person in that crowd, you were able to pick out my voice?" Eishiro asks

"Our sister used to nag us about returning things, so now I do whatever I can to make sure I do." Ayato explains

"You two are funny guys, you know that?" Eishiro asks

"ANSWER ME JULIS!" We hear someone scream, so we look over and see Julis and three other guys screaming at her. "WHY WOULD YOU WASTE YOUR TIME FIGHTING A NEW COMER?!"

"And why, exactly, should I answer that?" Julis asks

"Wooaahh. So cool." Eishiro says, as the three of us crouch down behind bushes. "Talk about a scoop."

"What did you say?!" The guy asks Julis.

"I've defeated you three times already. I don't see a point in continuing this." Julis tells him

"You cocky little bitch!" He yells

"Eishiro, who is that guy?" I ask

"Lester MacPhail. He's ranked ninth and a page one." Eishiro explains

"What's that?" Ayato asks

"You're aware that every school in Asterisk has a ranking system, aren't you?" He asks "That catalog of rankings has been dubbed the Named Cults. And, the top twelve among them are each given the title of page one."

"So he's pretty powerful." I say

"No one's denying that, but he doesn't measure up to our Princess. They've dueled three times, and he hasn't won yet." Eishiro explains, suddenly, there's a loud bang, and when we look up, Lester crushed the ground with his Orga Lux.

"I don't care what you say! We're having this duel right now!" Lester yells

"Lester calm down!" The small one in his entourage says.

"Yea, come on man, this really isn't the place t-" The taller one starts, but gets interrupted by Lester.

"Don't get full of yourself! You haven't even seen anything close to my full power!" Lester gloats

"Yea, well if that's the case, why don't you prove it?" Julis asks, looking rather bored. "But go bother someone else, alright?" She starts walking away.

"Get back here!" He yells, grabbing her arm, making her drop her handkerchief.

"Uh oh..." I say

"No way in hell am I gonna get my ass kicked my a Princess who duels for fun!" Lester yells, still holding onto Julis' arm, but lets go when Julis lights a flame where his hand was.

She walks over to the handkerchief and picks it up off the ground. "Did you say...for fun?" She asks

"Yea, so what?" Lester asks, while the ground under Julis starts to glow.

"Then enlighten me Lester." She tells him, as flames start to surround her. "What's your reason for fighting?!" Lester's jacket falls off his back, because of the wind Julis is causing with her power. "Cause I'm only here for one purpose!" She yells, holding out the handkerchief.

"What?" I ask myself

"And I am bound, and determined, to reach my goal at the Festas!" She yells "Just for fun! If you think that's why I'm here, you're dead wrong!" The flames around her grow more intense.

'Julis.' I thought 'Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld. This is the Glühen Rose. The witch of the Resplendent Flames.'
