Old allies

A few thousand miles away, Sidney Prescott was getting ready to go to bed early next to her spouse. She had already put the children to sleep, and her spouse Mark Kincaid turned on the TV to relax a little. Work left them exhausted.

Sidney, already in her pajamas and brushing her teeth, lay down next to Mark and they snuggled together to protect themselves from the cold.

"What a long day," Sidney complained, hugging Mark's arm.

"Needless to say," Mark continued, stroking her back. "I don't think it can get any worse".

She had just switched to the news channel.

"Let's see if it's true..."

Several news headlines passed around the country, as well as worldwide. Mark was slowly falling asleep while Sidney did not take her eyes off the screen.

When her eyelids began to feel heavier, news of the recently missing people appeared. After hearing the first person's name, she woke up almost in one jump.

"It can't be"...

Mark also woke up upset.

"Sidney?"

"Do you remember I told you about the Carpenter sisters and Billy Loomis' relationship with the older sister?"

"Yeah, obviously. How could I forget such a fascinating story?

Sidney pointed tremblingly at the screen, right at the headline that read: Twenty-one-Year-Old Girl Missing. His captor was wearing a "Ghostface" costume, according to witnesses. Tara's photo appeared in a corner as the details of her disappearance were passed on.

"She's that girl's younger sister".

"Wow. Not again," Mark said. "Will this never stop, isn't it?

"This will forever haunt everyone who gets involved with Ghostface," Sidney took her cell phone from the bedside table. "It's like a curse".

"Who do you write to?"

"Sam Carpenter, the missing girl's older sister".

"Is she Loomis's daughter?"

As Sidney left the message for Sam, she replied somewhat half-heartedly.

"Sadly, she is"...

In New York, Sam was receiving Sidney's message at that moment. It wasn't long before the following message arrived:

I found out about Tara. Have you gotten any clues? Are you ok?

We haven't found anything. It's as if they had made her disappear. The only thing we know is that she is still alive. This Ghostface is apparently very mediatic on networks. We have just been attacked by a sixteen-year-old boy who wanted to fulfill a challenge set by a user of a Stab forum.

Wow, Ghostface has been updated. What kind of challenge?

As far as I know, it was about hurting me and my friends.

This Ghostface doesn't want to get his hands dirty? Wow, that's new too.

I don't know what he's up to. But he has my sister captive. I will not allow him to hurt her.

Don't worry, Sam. You'll find it...

His last message seemed to be incomplete. It appeared to him that Sidney was writing. On the other hand, Sidney doubted whether to take a risk again for the Carpenters as she did more than three years ago. She sought Mark's approval and he only replied with a smile and a very true sentence.

"Just do what you think is right, my dear.

Sidney sighed in earnest. She couldn't sit idly by again. She had already abandoned the Carpenters to their fate having a late pregnancy last year.

She thanked her spouse with a long kiss on the lips and caressed his face.

"I cannot deny that this is my sad story.

"You're a hero, Sidney. You are the one who knows this situation best. You must help those girls.

The decision was already made.

Sam. Do not worry. I will travel to New York as quickly as I can to help them.

Sam broke out in a cold sweat at this message. She didn't want to have Sidney, this new psychopathic Ghostface and her sister in danger in the same city, very close. She thought about the forum user's message. What if it was just an internet troll? How do you know? And Tara's life was still in the middle of the board.

Are you sure to come? And your family?

They understand that I must also watch over those who have to bear my tragedy. So don't worry Sam.

Sam thought to herself that she shouldn't be the one worried...

Gale surprised her by tapping her shoulder. She smiled comfortably and melted her into a hug. At first, Sam tried to resist by stiffening as a board, but Gale's insistence made her give in. The human warmth comforted her a little.

Gale wore her brand-new gray blazer and her well-combed hair, ready to go on air.

"Don't worry. We will find Tara.

"I hope she's still alive...

Gale wanted to reply that it would be so. However, she knew that she could not affirm that.

"I'm going to get in touch with Sidney.

"Don't bother. She found out on her own.

Gale laughed to himself.

"It was obvious. It is Sidney motherfocking Prescott that we are talking about.

They both laughed a little. Sam was the first to stop. She clutched her phone to his chest.

Meanwhile, Kirby was taken to the police station to interrogate the attacker boy. Gale allowed Sam to spend that night at her house, but she refused, saying she would go to the hospital to make sure Mindy and Chad were okay. Gale offered to have everyone stay with her after the twins were discharged. Sam said she had to check with the twins first and not to worry.

"If we want to beat Ghostface, we must help each other. Do you forget?

"What if one of us IS Ghostface?"

"Do you really distrust me, Sam?" Gale asked indignantly.

"Don't take it personally, Gale. I stopped trusting people from the age of fourteen, after I found out that my mother had lied to me about my father's true identity...

Gale didn't think of one of her sarcastic phrases to respond to that...

....

It was almost nine o'clock at night. Dr. William Kobach was exhausted from seeing so many patients that day. He was leaning back in his chair with his feet on the desk. With his handkerchief he wiped the sweat that ran down his forehead and under his nose.

Before returning home, he had a habit of reading his case files for the day, to review any details that he had missed during the consultation.

He read a case of a self-harming girl and removed it almost as he began to review it. He considered that he had already said what was necessary during the consultation. The girl had excellent progress.

However, the next case was more troubling: Sam Carpenter.

The girl with strong psychotic traits inherited from her father: Billy Loomis, the murderer who unleashed the wave of deaths in the Californian town of Woodsboro. The inspiration for the book written by journalist Gale Weathers and Stab's famous horror films.

He had prescribed haloperidol and meredil to combat the visions that the girl maintained. During her paranoid stage she was quite unpredictable and aggressive. She felt that her father was harassing her from the afterlife, inciting her to murder.

She showed clear signs of schizophrenia. However, that does not overshadow the fact that she does not feel remorse for the murders she committed against those who attacked her. In her own words: "I enjoyed stabbing them with knives and shot their head without hesitation for a second."

Kobach scratched his nascent beard when reading the case of the Carpenter girl. He alternated his reading with checking his cell phone. He was exchanging messages with his partner Amanda. They had arranged to go to dinner Thai food that night and the girl would go to pick him up at the doctor's office. He entered social networks after receiving the last message from his girlfriend. He was surprised to read his patient's last name on the online news. It was Tara Carpenter, Sam's younger sister. That made his hair stand on end. He knew that Sam Carpenter represented a real danger to society. For the first time, he felt some fear of one of her patients.

His secretary always left the office open before leaving. She wasn't worried about locking it because he knew the doctor had a pair of keys.

Without making a sound, a black silhouette entered the office. He looked down the hallway and everything that covered the secretary's desk. Armed with a knife in his left hand, Ghostface lunged at the door, opening it with a bang to the doctor's surprise.

Kobach jumped up and dropped Carpenter's file. He tried with all his might to remain calm.

"Who are you?" What do you want?

Ghostface just exhaled forcefully and tilted his head slightly to the side. The doctor showed that he was unarmed.

"Take everything you want. On the secretary's desk is the money.

Ghostface extended his free hand. The doctor thought he wanted me to hand over the cellphone and left it on the desk in front of him.

"Take him away. Don't do anything to me, please.

Ghostface continued with his hand outstretched. The doctor then took the phone and tried to place it in his hand. Ghostface responded with his knife by stabbing him into wood. The man howled in pain with every movement the masked man made. Managing to violently unnail the knife from the wood and its flesh, the doctor brought his wounded hand to his chest while crying in pain and fear. His hand was useless, turned into a red mass as it stained the floor and his clothes. He fell to the ground as Ghostface got dangerously close to him.

"What do you want?" It was there that he recognized the disguise that the murderer was wearing. The same outfit as the villains of Stab.

The doctor tried to grab a bronze ornament placed on a shelf but was stopped by a slash from his attacker's knife. He was again immobilized.

Crawling backwards in pain, Kobach begged for his life. Ghostface stood in front of him, a bloody knife thrust into his forehead. He activated his voice modulator and got up to the psychiatrist's level.

Is it true that psychiatrists go crazy from being so close to human madness? Or not, doctor?

The doctor begged for his life as he tried to peer out from behind the killer's mask.

"S—samantha Car...?"

He did not let him finish pronouncing the name. The knife was stabbed up to the handle in his head making movements with his wrist. The gray walls and a large portion of Ghostface's mask were stained red.

Ghostface left the man to die there, who convulsed one last time before expiring.

He scanned the room and contemplated the fallen folder of files. On the side it read: "Samantha Carpenter." Ghostface grabbed it and glanced at it for a while. He looked back at the doctor, who was no longer moving, and turned the pages of the briefcase. The bottom corner was stained with the man's blood.

Ghostface, when he finished looking at Sam's file, threw the folder back on the floor and returned to dislodge the weapon from the deceased's skull. A frightful breaking noise added to a hollow one echoed in the office.

Ghostface, wearing his long black robe, wiped the blade of the knife with a swift motion and contemplated his feat.

After that, he simply left and got lost in the darkness of the night...
