Concerns

Sam had mixed emotions. She felt a tightness in her chest because of what was feared. She feared for Tara and deeply hoped she was still alive.

When she hung up on Mindy's call and entered Tara's room, she held back a sob of sadness when she saw the clothes lumped up on the bed. That brought a bittersweet smile to her face.

"Typical of Tara," she said to herself.

She separated Tara's red Coca-cola T-shirt and put it in a Ziploc bag to keep her sister's DNA as untampered with as possible.

Before leaving the room, she looked at it again in anguish and slowly closed the door.

She then went to the police station. Mindy and Chad agreed to meet her there to give her testimony. Her phone began to vibrate halfway through. It was a call from Danny. Once again.

This time she decided to answer him. She wanted to set the record straight and inform him about what was going on.

"Sam?"

"Danny. Now is not a good time.

"Sam, I know you're angry, but..."

"Danny," Sam neutralized his tone of voice to stop the boy, "Tara was kidnapped.

"What did you say?" Not again".

That comment took her out of her mind.

"I never told you that Tara had been attacked by Ghostface before".

"Yes, you did," Danny sounded pretty confident, too. "In addition, you told me how everyone were in danger with the Kirsch".

Sam was paranoid and traumatized by everything.

"I'm sorry Danny. Everything that has happened still keeps me suspicious," she paused, hesitating to tell her her true feelings. "It's a complicated thing".

"Sam," Danny's voice softened to comfort her. "I know you've been through a lot. I want to tell you that I am willing to listen to you and help you when you need it. It's not a good time to overwhelm you, but if you want to talk, help, or whatever you want, I'm just a call or message away".

"You're in Brooklyn. That's more than a call or message away".

"Did Sam Carpenter remember to make a joke?" Danny laughed.

Sam laughed lightly, too.

"I don't know. At this type of situations sometimes all that remains is to laugh".

Danny responded happily.

"That's the Sam I know. Let me know anything and, Sam... " He returned again to his tone of seriousness. "Take good care of yourself, ok?"

"I'll do it, Danny". Sam felt she owed the truth to Danny, but this wasn't the time. "I'll tell you everything. I promise".

"I'll wait calmly. For anything, I'm with you. Goodbye".

Sam said goodbye and hung up the call. She clutched her cell phone to her chest and continued through the crowded streets.

It didn't take long for her to arrive at the police station again.

The officers saw her whispering to each other. Sam ignored them as she made her way through the officers. Officer Killian Ford was in charge of the precinct, and there was no detective present. Still.

Mindy and Chad were on a couch waiting for Sam to arrive. They both got up, Chad leaning on Mindy, seeing her and hugging her. Sam shed a few tears and Chad stared at the ground still not believing that Tara had disappeared.

The three entered the police station to make the notification that Tara Carpenter was missing. At first, the officers told them that they should wait three days to make that order. Sam was furious that now the cops, with their trademark arrogance, didn't want to do their jobs properly.

One of them, one of the youngest in the room, explained that they still distrusted her.

"We don't forget that you're a murderer".

"Are you trying to imply that I killed my sister or something?" Sam's blood began to boil over that ridiculous comment.

"I haven't said anything. But facts don't lie, and a lot of people distrust you and all of you," he said, also referring to Chad, Mindy, and even Tara herself.

Before Mindy launched into confronting him with her characteristic method, a small-sized, blonde-haired figure appeared in the room. She was someone the group knew quite well.

"Everyone in this precinct apparently knows what happened to these guys and me," Kirby lashed out with her typical strength and cunning. "They know that the chance of an idiot wearing a Ghostface mask attacking is quite high. Most likely, he will attack these guys. And yet they deny them the right like any other citizen? This is a great story for my fellow FBI agents, don't you think?"

The policemen looked at each other. From there they ordered the young policeman who had opened his mouth to be silenced. Officer Ford took the word again.

"We will issue the alert to other police stations. We will be aware".

"I'll take care of the DNA testing immediately," Kirby told both the boss and Sam, as a way of calming her down a bit and asking for the bag of Tara's clothes. "I will send this to the lab right away. The results would be in about twelve hours at least. Please, guys, come with me".

Kirby left the main office and led them to the interrogation room. "I needed a quiet place to talk to everyone".

The officers were reluctant to see the FBI agent prowling around like it was her home, knowing she was on the side of those killers.

After Kirby locked the door, Mindy was the first to show her appreciation.

"As always, you show up at the right time".

"Thank you, I consider it a virtue," she thanked, sitting down at the table with the group.

"How did you know we were here?" Sam asked.

—Two reasons. The first: when I heard about the case, I also had a hunch that something bad could have happened to you. And the second: your boyfriend kept my number from the other time and confirmed my theory.

Sam smiled when she heard what Danny was doing for her. However, her smile barely lasted seconds because the reality hit her when she remembered Tara.

"They went for Tara again. And I'm afraid that something has been done to her".

"Sam. If Ghostface wanted to kill Tara, they would have done so without hesitation along with the stabbed man. This new Ghostface serves another purpose".

Chad rubbed his head, assimilating that they were once again engaged with Ghostface.

"Is it already confirmed that there is another psychopath wearing the Ghostface mask?"

There are several testimonies that they saw that it was a subject with the mask.

"Shit," the Meeks brothers replied in unison.

Sam walked away from the group and pulled her cell phone out of her pants pocket. She searched the contact list for Sidney Prescott's name, and held her finger still on the call symbol, hesitating to warn her. She didn't want to worry Sid.

But what if she knew something that could help him find Tara? She had not heard from Sidney for a long time; since Tara's first attack at Woodsboro years ago.

Mindy was the first to realize Sam's intentions and approached her by giving her healthiest advice and knowledge about the rules of this fateful game that they never wanted to enter.

"It's pretty hasty, Sam".

"What if Sidney knows something?" Any reason or clue? "

"Don't you see, Sam?" Mindy replied, opening her arms. "That's what this new Ghostface wants. To gather us all in the same place to be able to attack each other one by one. You'd also be putting Sidney in danger".

"But she must be warned".

"I don't think the great Sidney Prescott is unaware of what happened. She is the expert on this. We must fend for ourselves.

Chad and Kirby approached the girls suddenly. They were worried because Kirby feared that Tara would be killed if this Ghostface didn't get what he wanted.

"This Ghostface is strange. He usually always calls his victims. He doesn't play by the rules of his own game," Chad said, somewhat desperate and worried for Tara's well-being.

Just after he had uttered those words, Sam's phone began to ring. The word "Unknown Number" flashed in the center of the screen. They all looked at each other scared. It was time to start the game.

"You summoned him, Chad," Mindy said, slapping her brother on the shoulder.

Sam immediately answered and activated the speakerphone of the call. The rest were silent to listen to what he would say.

There was a dead noise from elsewhere.

"Hello?" Sam said, waiting for an answer.

A button was heard and the noise of a device starting. A groan could be heard in the background. Ghostface's voice came suddenly.

Hi Sam...

"You never get tired, do you?" Sam's fists were clenched in fury. "Didn't you find out what happened to the previous ones who decided to hurt my family?"

I adore that evil and fury hidden in your words. You're becoming like your father, Sam.

"My father and I can look alike. But we are not equal. I'm not like him, just like I'm not like you." Sam had his nails dug into the wood of the table. "Enough stupid talk. Where is my sister? "

Oh, that's interesting. To get some clues you must first answer some questions, my dear Sam.

"I know that monologue," Sam's fury was in crescendo. "Don't waste my time and tell me what you want".

You know well that what I want is to finish you all off. I want to bury my knife in your belly and gut them and then hang them with their guts. Something poetic I would say.

"Where's Tara, you fucking son of a bitch?" If you tell me now, I promise I'll finish you off quickly, with little pain..."

That's the Sam Loomis I know. The one I longed to hear. You are really identical to your father.

There was a faint sob, as well as something dragging in the background. A faint whine along with a metallic sound: a knife out of its sheath.

Sam's heart almost skipped a beat, Chad also imagined it happening on the other end of the receiver.

"Let go, you bastard!" She shouted impulsively to everyone's surprise. Tears streamed down her cheeks.

Now will you answer my questions, Sam?

"Tell me what you want..."

What is your favorite scary movie?

"Stop playing, you idiot!" Sam muttered. "Tell me where my sister is! "

All in its time, my dear Sam. First things first...

The call was cut off. Only the incessant noise of the loudspeaker could be heard.

Sam was staring at a point in front of her, sinking into her thoughts. She didn't know how Mindy repelled her brother for getting into the call, blaming her for the fact that Ghostface didn't reveal more information.

Kirby brought Sam to her senses by taking the phone out of her hands and writing down the phone number along with the time the call was made.

"I'll trace the call. "I need more information on this," she stood up and ordered the group out of the room. "Go home and take good shelter. You know how this works. Trust no one. Everyone can be involved in this. Whatever happens, contact me".

From there, Kirby left the police station on her motorcycle. She started at full speed and got lost in the busy streets of New York.

Mindy snorted listlessly.

"And I was already relaxing from what happened months ago. I must get used to this damn feeling".

Chad, on the other hand, was restless, almost paranoid. He watched every splinter in the room and his legs trembled. He bit his nails until they bled.

"I don't want anything bad to happen to Tara".

Sam had a recurring urge to vomit. She was the first to leave the room, heading to the bathroom to wash her face.

She needed some advice and knew the perfect person who she should ask for.

To her father...
