Dancing Through the Night

"So, which Queen's song do you want me to start with?"

A few days had passed, and Ashley surprisingly learned all of the lines in the entire musical. Grace was pleased with Ashley's results, and kept pushing her.

Ashley had finally went off book, and at a record of five days. All of the Queens were ecstatic, and they were all working to help her get ready.

"How about Don't Lose Ur Head," Millie asked, "Since Anne Boleyn is one of your firsts."

Ashley nodded. "I like that idea. I always wanted to try that funny foot thing."

In the short time Ashley had been in London, she had seen all of the Queens and Alts onstage. There was a double show day and Ash had saw Grace as Howard, and Courtney as Seymour, and she loved how they portrayed the characters in their own way.

The next day, she had seen Vicki as Cleves, which was an interesting experience. Erin had been there with Ashley that night, and she loved the way Vicki acted as the German queen.

"Alright then," Vicki said, "Since Boleyn is also my first, I'll be in charge of teaching you."

Ashley grinned. "Vick, with all due respect, I think Gracie is a much better candidate to teach me."

Vicki laughed. "That's nonsense. I'm teaching you, or you will not learn."

Ashley laughed. "OK, fine."

Vicki called Grace, Natalie, Lexi, Aimie and Courtney.

"They'll be the other Queens. Grace as Aragon, Courtney as Parr."

Ashley nodded. Grace and Ashley had agreed to start with the main choruses before the rest of the song. And Ashley was interested in learning "Don't Lose Ur Head".

(A/N: The tutorial provided is by Sheila Watko, and is based from the choreography of the real show. You should check her out!)

Twenty minutes later, and Ashley was doing the second chorus.

"LOL," she sang, and her head flopped to the left.

"Say 'Oh well'." A peace sign with her right hand.

"Or go to Hell!"

She finished it off and spun.

"I'm sorry not sorry 'bout what I said! Don't lose ur head!"

She clapped her hands and Vicki cheered.

"You got it!"

"Well, it's only because I have great teachers," Ashley explained, and Vicki squeezed her into a hug.

"Thanks, Queenie. Now, let's do the whole song so you could get it."

At the end of the day, Ashley had learned the entirety of "Don't Lose Ur Head", having memorized Boleyn's moves and the moves of the rest of the Queens.

"That was great, QueenBean," Millie said. She and Jaye'J were walking Ashley home.

"Thanks, Mills," Ashley said breathlessly. She went to the bathroom to change out of her clothes and wore a tank top with jeans.

"How on Earth," Jaye'J asked, "Did you memorize an entire Queen's song's choreography in one day?"

Ashley shrugged. "I was in a lot of shows in highschool, so I had experience."

Erin was waiting for her at the yard. She was reading over music sheets and was in deep concentration.

"Hey, E," Ashley said, and patted Erin on the shoulder. Erin looked up.

"Ash!"

She wrapped Ashley in a massive hug.

"How was today," she asked. Millie grinned.

"Ashley was amazing! She learned the entire choreo of Don't Lose Ur Head today. And I mean, everything! Aragon, Boleyn, Seymour, Cleves, Howard, Parr!! All of them!"

"That's spectacular!"

"I know, right! Queenie is amazing!"

Ashley smiled shyly. "It's not much."

"No, it's a lot! Ash, that's incredible!"

"Erin is right," Jaye'J said, "But you need to keep going so you can make it."

Ashley nodded. "I will, don't worry!"

***

"Ashley H. Sanderson! Report!"

It was her first three months in London, and Ashley had made amazing progress. She had learned the entire show, and was just waiting for her costumes, which Gabriella was promising they'd be ready.

"Yes, ma'am!"

Ashley held her swing bible in front of her and saluted to Grace. During their time together, they had already made a strong relationship.

Grace's stiff face was threatening to break. "What have you learn today?"

Ashley held in a giggle. "All of the choreography for SiX, ma'am!"

"And what do you mean by all of it?"

"Every Queen's part of the song, ma'am!"

Grace let out a laugh, and Ashley followed.

"Sorry, Partner! But that was too ridiculous!"

"I know!"

They sat on the stairs on the stage. Grace sighed.

"You wanna do All You Wanna Do?"

Ashley froze. She was fine doing "All You Wanna Do," so long as she wasn't playing Howard. She just couldn't stand it. But she smiled.

"Sure. Which Queen?"

Grace thought about it. "Why don't you try Howard? You never did her before."

Ashley gulped. "Are you sure?"

Grace nodded. "It's just to see how well you are."

Ashley nodded. She walked into the dressing rooms where some Queens were livestreaming.

"Hey guys! We're doing All You Wanna Do, me as Howard. Wanna join?"

Natalie, Millie, Courtney, Lexi, and Vicki came out. Court was Aragon, Vicki was Parr.

"So, Queenie's doing All You Wanna Do," Grace said, "She'll be Howard, and I'll watch."

She nodded to Erin. She was practicing as Joan, so she was using the keyboard.

Ashley hated once the music started, but she went along with everyone else. For the most part, she made it through the song. She felt proud, but a pit of fear bubbled in her stomach.

"This guy, finally! Is what I want, the friend I need! Just mates, no chemistry! I get him and he gets me!"

She shrugged of Natalie and Vicki's hands. "And there's nothing more to it. He just cares so much, he's devoted. He says we have a connection -"

She froze and saw all the hands and arms on her. The feeling only reminded her of her nightmares, and it made everything worse.

"I thought this guy was different," she sang shakily, "Why did I think he'd be different?"

She fought of the arms on her as tears leaked from her eyes.

"But it's never - EVER - differ~en~t!!"

She was a mess as the song kept going. She just felt so scared, and alone. Everything was threatening to fall, but she kept it going. She had to finish the song.

"Playtime's over!!! The only thing, the only thing -"

She fought off the arms on her just as she finished the song.

"The only thing you wanna do is -"

A kiss and a gasp. A kiss and a gasp. But no.

" *Mwah* Ah!"

She had screamed. It wasn't her fault, she just couldn't contain it. After the song was over, she ran off and hid in the bathrooms, locking the stall door behind her.

"Queenie! It's Gracie, open up!"

"No," Ashley yelled, "I won't! I don't want to!"

She heard shuffling, and voices.

"C'mon, Babes!" Vicki.

"QueenBean! Please come out!" Millie.

"No! No!"

"Ashley. It's OK. Come out." Natalie.

"Come on, RedHead." Rin.

She opened the door slowly. She saw so many eyes that she ran to the first person she saw, and found Erin hugging her.

"Hey, Ash. What happened?"

She didn't respond, but just squeezed her.

"I get it," Erin whispered in her ear, "Wanna go home?"

Ashley shook her head. She turned to the Queens.

"Sorry, everyone," she said softly, "I didn't mean to -"

"To do what," Courtney asked.

"To leave like that. It's just, All You Wanna Do is -"

"A triggering song," Erin concluded, and Ashley nodded thankfully.

The Queens nodded. Grace sighed.

"It was my fault," she said, "I pushed you to the edge. I should've never done that."

Ashley shook her head. "It's not, Grace. I wasn't comfortable, but I pushed it anyway."

Ashley and the others walked out of the bathroom, and Ashley went to her dressing room. She found her phone and started typing.

Note to Self:

Tell the Queens about everything.

NO. She couldn't. Instead, she walked out and walked around the theatre. She loved everything about it, and she couldn't wait until her first show.

"Hey, Ashley!"

She turned around to see Gabriella running towards her.

"Hi! Are they -"

Gabriella nodded excitedly, and Ashley followed her. They arrived to a small room full of costumes.

Ashley saw Millie's, Grace's, Vicki's and many more. But she stopped in front of a few she was unfamiliar with.

They were the main Queen's costumes, except for the fact that the colors were inverted. Whatever was black was colored, and what was colored was black.

"Are these mine?"

Gabriella nodded. "I mean, you were the one who chose the designs, right? Do you like it?"

Ashley placed a hand on her Seymour costumes, and was fascinated by the amount of detail and effort Gabriella put on her costumes.

"I love them. Thank you so much!"

Gabriella nodded and handed over a pair of high-heeled boots bedazzled with crystals.

"These are yours, and perfectly accommodated to fit your feet."

Ashley took them and grinned. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Gabriella laughed. "You're welcome. Now go put your costumes away!"

Ashley traveled to her dressing room a few times to put all of them away, but she was marveled at all of them. She heard a bang and Millie came in.

"Hey, Queenie! Tech rehearsal going on!"

Millie raced around looking for things and then she stopped.

"What are those?"

"Oh, they're my new costumes."

Millie walked over and looked at them. "QueenBean, they're amazing! You have amazing taste!"

"It's nothing," Ashley protested, "I mean, they are amazing, but I just chose the design."

"But it's beautiful!"

"Thanks."

Millie smiled and gasped. "You could join us for tech rehearsal! You have your costumes, and you already know everything!"

Ashley smiled. "Sounds like a great idea!"
