Prologue

The man in the black coat sat on the barstool, a full glass of beer in front of him. He was tapping his fingers together, and he was watching another man.

The other man was called Geoffery Summers, a very regular man in a regular place, hanging out with regular friends. Unfortunately for him, he also possessed some very irregular facts, and the man in the black coat was as far from regular as the Earth from the sun.

Geoffery got up and chuckled at a joke his blonde friend made. The man in black coat heard it. It wasn't very funny. Geoffery left his table and walked towards the washroom. This was the mans chance. He also got up, leaving the pint of beer behind him and heading towards the washroom too.

When he walked in, Geoffery was at the urinal, whistling All of Me by John Legend. It was surprising how the man knew this. In his line of work, romantic songs weren't the most common thing you would be listening to. No, rather, you would be listening to a lot of yelling. Some gunfire. Probably a blazing fire here or there. Oh yes, and screaming. A lot of screaming.

"So, Geoff, how's Janet doing?" came the smooth voice of the man as Geoffery washed his hands. He stopped.

"Uh, I don't think I know you..." he muttered.

"What? Are you sure? Of course you know me, Geoffery, I'm that street performer who showed you that teleportation trick, remember?" came the cheerful reply.

"Haha, oh yeah... I remember...." replied Geoffery. Fúcking liar. That never happened. "Hey, how about you show me another magic trick, huh?" he asked nervously.

The man turned to him and grinned.
"But of course! Do you happen to have a coin on you?" he asked cheerfully. Geoffery fished around in his pocket, and pulled out a quarter, dropping it into the man's gloved hand.

"Go on, then, what are you going to do?" asked Geoffery.

The man smirked. He closed his fist, and chuckled slightly. He shook his fist and tapped it thrice. "Now," he said warily, "if I were to open my hand and a stream of hundred dollar bills flowed out, would you be surprised?"

"Of course!" came the unwitting reply.
The man smirked again, and opened his fist. The quarter was still there, the exact same as before.
"Umm... I don't think it worked..." he said slowly.

"No..." said the man with a frown, "I don't think it did either..."
He grinned cheerfully and dropped the coin, letting it roll towards Geoffery's feet. "How about this trick, then?" he asked before clicking his fingers, making Geoffery's fingers snap backwards. The man was instantly behind him, and a hand was over his mouth, muffling his screams, the other hand on a knife that was held against his neck.

"Hy haar you doin dis?!" came the muffled yell. The man ignored him.

"Now, you're going to tell me a couple things, okay? So don't bother lying to me, Geoffery, because I know that you know how to get to the Seventh Grimoire..." he told him, voice equally as smooth and calm as before.
