Chapter 33: Vanity
Vanity- Derived from the sin of pride, vanity is seen as one having overestimation of their abilities, looks or self that causes a belief of having excessive greatness or attractiveness to others. Compared to pride, it is the desire to not only believe but show what one has achieved and gained and seek praise from those around them.
"What?"
Her mind was left in a perpetual cycle of disbelief and shock as her stiffened body kept being held by the male that seemed to now become an addition to her life. Her eyes never shrunk back to normal as her wide stare continued scouting out for any indications on what the outlandish claims were held by.
The male longingly continued holding her in his arms, enwrapping her in a cage of overzealous bliss while he rested his head against her own. "Ah, I didn't think we would meet again sooner than I intended. But my heart can't stop beating for you now." He exclaimed in an augmented tone of sweetened, cherishing emotions only for the girl to continue trying to process the unprecedented occurrence.
"What is happening...?" (Y/n) finally managed to utter a shaky silent semblance of sounds that formed into the words that were screaming in her mind. Vince simply hummed with pleasure as he was finally able to indulge his ears on the melody that formed her voice.
"A sound that I could only dream of...it's even sweeter in real life." Exclaiming his fruition in experiencing the vocals, the older boy finally seemed satisfied enough to unravel her from his arms and settle on placing his hands on her shoulders where he still held her in connecting distance. He stared at her with flared up life reflecting in his eyes as her form shined in his fixated vision.
"What is happening...?" (Y/n) couldn't help but repeat her initial unanswered question that only seemed even more daunting with every passing second. The surrounding watchers also mimicked her state of disbelief while a flint of anger resonated within some of their bewildered expressions.
Vince's features quickly snapped into realisation as he attempted to compose himself and properly present his feelings to the girl. "I'm sorry, (Y/n). This must be a bit surprising to you but it's been nearly a decade since we last saw each other, I couldn't contain myself." He understandingly nodded away before leaning in to encouragingly smile at the girl. "Can you remember me?" He beckoned, gently urging her to recollect her memories.
"I-uhh..." She uncertainly sounded out but didn't manage to fill in the spaces in her blank mind as her brain seemed to completely become detached from her head, leaving a hollow shell of clogged gears trying to turn.
Padraig finally recovered from his paralysis as he slowly took a few steps towards the pair. "Vince...why are you acting like this towards a commoner?" His astounded inquiry was annunciated in bewildered tones, only to receive a reaction no one expected.
Vince's soft gaze immediately blazed with fury as his mood flickered on like a light switch. The male swiftly spun around to send his nephew an outraged glare that was accompanied by a chillingly disgusted and hostile warning. "Don't you even think to dare to call her such a demeaning title!" His bile shout froze the younger boy to the spot, falling in further bafflement at the extent and passion he was going through to defend the female. The aggravated matured boy transitioned his attention back on the girl and as he turned around to face her again his features had already melted down into an expressive display of affection and tenderness in front of her eyes. "She is so much more than that."
(Y/n) was left once again speechless as she flew through her mind to grasp at any semblance of understanding for the scenario presented to her. "What?" She reverted back to a singular word inquiry. Shaking her head slightly to jog the cogs in her mind, the girl finally built up a full sentence at her throat before releasing the inquiry. "I'm sorry, who are you?" She attempted to wrap her mind around where she could have met such a renown identity but failed to fit the face to previous encounters.
The older male seemed slightly downhearted by the clueless female but kept his joy intact as he clasped one of her hands between his and fondly held her while focusing his gaze on the surprised worked. "I hoped you might recognise me but I suppose it's been a long time...but my feelings for you have only grown my dear." He gave her a heartfelt smile before bringing her captured hand up to his lips where he placed a gentle kiss against her skin.
Vince immediately felt her disappearing from his peck as the girl was pulled back by a second party as an individual placed himself in front of her and the older male. Akai pressed a hand on the man's chest with the intent of maintaining some sort of distance between him and the female while hampering any attempts at an approach. "Alright Casanova, lay off she isn't interested in your bulls**t." He glared at the older male, being reciprocated with the same expression.
Vince was far from discouraged by his defensive act and only approached the boy with a warning scowl as he lowered his vocals in a quiet and irritated response. "Firstly, don't touch her with those filthy, infested hands of yours. Secondly, don't touch me with those filthy, infested hands of yours. Now step aside, and let the grown-ups talk." The ridiculing tinge in the man's tone caused seeds of aggravation growing in the boy at an exponential rate.
(Y/n) sensed the drastic tonal shift in the atmosphere and picked up on the indications of Akai's fuelling temper, resulting in lightly tugging him back to resume her time in the foreground. "Akai, it's alright. Uhm...I'm sorry but I really need more clarification on all this...have we met before?" She gazed up at the older boy who softened his look only for her while the rest of the crowd awaited for answers of the same question.
Vince smirked at her inquiry before straightening his posture in a manner that was too reminiscent of Padraig's own habits and made the girl wonder if he had taken inspiration from the older male. "Yes, we crossed paths once in the past and it cemented our fate in that moment." He passionately explained, holding himself with excitement and impatience as he finally was allowed to declare his side of the story.
"When?" (Y/n) quizzed, still unsatisfied with the unspecified meeting.
Vince grinned at the interested girl as he wrapped one arm around her shoulder to bring her closer to him. "It was July 1st, almost ten years ago. It was a sunny afternoon when I was playing alone with my ball in the park when a bunch of bratty hooligans began bothering me." His narration began blending into his speech like he were reading out a story, as though he had practised his tale and memorised every detail for the sake of one day perfectly illustrating it to another. He presented himself with steadiness and confidence and the charisma of a public speaker. "These ruffians wouldn't stop pestering me and as the situation began to get heated a Goddess was sent to my aid." His eyes sparkled and his gaze distanced itself as though he were reliving the scenario that came so freely through his speech. "You appeared at that moment and told those insolent pests off. And even put one of them in a choke hold! It was that day that I promised myself I would make you mine for the rest of our lives." He triumphantly sounded, engrossed in the perfection that the girl's image was held in, seemingly completely finished with his exposition. While he satisfyingly kept smiling, the rest of the crowd seemed far from gratified by the ridiculous and insufficient broken logic in the explanation.
"Is that it?" (Y/n) neutrally asked, still doubtful over the legitimacy of his true feelings on their first meeting.
"Yes." He simply piped back.
The more the female associated the incident in her head, the more connections she began to make in regards to the moment the older boy was referring to. And as she began scanning through certain details, (Y/n) was sure she had pinpointed him in association to her past. The more the wheels in her mind turned, the more her brain made connections to his story and the more pieces began to not fit with his own brief biography in the matter. "I swear we talked again after that." She commented, placing a hand under her chin as her mind began hearing deeper dialogue from her past and a contradicting reaction compared to the one he was stating. "If I recall, you couldn't seem to stand me when we first met..." Her innocuous comment stirred up furore inside the male that manifested on his delighted features.
"So you remember?" He fully turned towards her, grabbing her shoulders to hold her on the thought that was passing by her consciousness.
After assessing him for a moment more, her index finger came to point at him as most of the realisation struck her. "Yeah, you were that weird kid from out of town. That's about as much as my memory can recall if we're talking about the same thing." She truthfully established while most of her memories remained blurred and hallow as most of her previous years were. She could recall glimpses of a little, handsome boy mixing his expression towards her. Transitions to confusion, anger, annoyance, indifference, interest, happiness and fondness. With snippets of verbal exchanges she couldn't quite make out.
"That's me! Oh, my love, you make me so happy!" Vince threw his arms around the female once again, forcing her to stiffen her body out of surprise, completely losing her track of thought on the matter. Vince tenderly squeezed her in his embrace as his heart celebrated at her touch and closeness. "I can't wait. I can't wait to show you how much you mean to me." His softly spoken confession, caused the female's mind to nearly shut down as those words continued to echo through her panicked perception. "I promise I'll make you the happiest girl in the world." The male was excited to finally give the joy he had planned on bringing her since the very beginning.
The jubilant man felt a few rough taps on his shoulder, causing his expression to scrunch with annoyance. Vince forced himself to let go of the catatonic girl as he turned around to face the disturbance, standing right in front of her to block the female from any other's view. Akai glared menacingly at the older boy who didn't seem the slightest bit perturbed by the intimidating look. "Ok looks-for-brains, I think you should get your head checked before you're allowed to speak. Now back off and leave her alone." The red eyed male scolded him with irritation while Vince didn't seem fazed by his words in the slightest.
To Akai's surprise, the male eyed him for a bit as slight confusion muffled his features when Vince seemed to take his appearance in for the first time. "Who are you?" Akai stared at him with a look of bewilderment before it contorted into an aggravated scowl.
"You know who I am! We've passed each other like a hundred times!" However, Vince still continued to blankly stare at him as he was merely surprised by the claim itself rather than actual recognition.
"Really? I've never seen you." The irascible boy began fuming at the statement as his hot eyes started searing invisible scorches into the opposing male while Vince simply remained unreactive towards the display of frustration. "In fact I was under the impression Padraig lived alone here, again. At least he has a playmate that's just as delusional as himself." With the snide smirk turning his lips, Vince pitifully gazed down at the boiling boy.
"There are like 5 other people living here! Not including the staff! Also, playmate and delusional-?!" As he prepared to move into a rant over the remarks and fume over the comparisons, the older male interrupted him without a second thought.
"God you're noisy...well on the bright side, you'll definitely be leaving an impression now." This seemed to only dig deeper into the boy as he restrained himself from lashing out at the man physically. "It's a shame really. Knowing my funds towards this school are being invested in such lowlifes. Quite a waste actually." After looking down on the boy with a patronising glance, Akai had to count down the levels in his head as he tried to settle his nerves.
After making the executive decision to store the argument to be temporarily dormant so as to bring attention to his primary concern again, Akai laboured in barricading his nerves for the moment. "I'll settle this on another day, but right now I'll go back to my main issue in all this. Keep your creepy a** self away from (Y/n)!" Vince seemed to finally grant him a grimace of ridicule and disapproval as he glared back into the boy's challenging snarl.
"I don't think that's a decision you're a part of." The aggravated male moued at the statement as the muscles in his arms contracted as they helped his fists clench out of decimating patience. The man simply sneered at his reaction before waving his hand as though shooing a nasty substance from the air. "I'm more than glad to ask darling (Y/n) on this. (Y/n), what do you-?" Turning around to bring his attention back on the girl for her addition on the subject, he found the space where her paralysed body once was to be empty. Vince proceeded to try numerous methods of squinting and blinking to assure himself of her sudden disappearance. "(Y/n)?" He questioned, his stomach turning as energy began pumping through him while his eyes desperately searched for the girl they longed for. As he directed his sights up towards the stairs and second floor, he noticed the familiar figure slowly disappearing behind the first step.
(Y/n) stiffly struggled along through the corridor, trying to breach through her senses and settle her thundering thoughts. 'I need to finish the library. Just finish the library and go along with your day. What just happened didn't happen. If I ignore this, I'll-' Her delusional reassuring was cut in its tracks as she heard a quickly approaching form running towards her.
The girl had to force herself to glance at her pursuer, leading to her heart sinking. "(Y/n)! Hold on." Vince rushed towards her with his thrilled nature still residing within him. The girl quickly turned her head around as she slightly sped up her pace, deriding herself for even considering the idea of a miracle that would take everything away.
As she turned the corner for the path that led to the library, she felt a hand gently pressing on her shoulder. The girl immediately felt all the distress within her rising. 'Why does ignoring never work?' She scolded herself before spinning around to face the male with a forged smile. She felt slightly heavy at heart as she prepared to serve him some slight coldness on the matter. "Hey, uhm...listen, Mr Lamont-"
"Vince." He corrected her with an eager grin, encouraging her to drop the formalities.
"Ok, Vince-"
"Honey." He corrected again with an equally placid smile.
"Not quite...listen, I'm really glad to see you remember me after all these years and I'd love to catch up, but I need to finish my job so-" Vince's expression fell at the mention of a singular small word that was unfitting with his ideal.
"Job? You mean a job here? What job could you possibly have here?" His question dripped with concern and confusion as he intently waited for her answer.
"I'm a cleaner here." At the mention of her occupation the young man's heart sunk at the indignant work she had placed herself in.
"What?" He gasped out before taking one of the girl's hands in a clasp as a beckoning indication. "Someone like you should not be working in such a demeaning position. You deserve better than to pick up other people's c**p!" Vince angrily snapped, horrified at the struggles his love was putting herself through while he had remained oblivious to the situation. He squeezed her hand with an unyielding grip before granting her the sternest face he had shown her thus far. "Quit this job."
(Y/n) widened her eyes at the request and attempted to tug her hand out of his hold. "What? No, I can't. I need to earn money somehow-"
"I'll give you money! I'll give you all the money in the world. Buy you necessities and luxuries fit for a Queen. Just stop this nonsense, I cannot allow my precious bride to be working under simpletons and in such a degrading occupation. You're worth so much more than this!" He desperately insisted, each promise and claim erupting with passion and authority. The girl flinched back at the assuring smile he presented her, sensing the yearning for her to be layered behind it.
"What are you talking about?" As her question was prepared to be answered by the overzealous male, his expression darkened and sharpened as his eyes caught the figure of another person walking up to them. (Y/n) glanced behind her to witness which one of the male's had taken awareness to the scene and was glad to have someone else in the situation. "Seok, where did you come from?" The male in question switched his sleepy eyes over to the girl to regard her.
"You were making a lot of noise." He informed before turning his gaze towards the main culprit. "Stop it."
Vince leered at the newcomer before he analysed his appearance to associate to a memory. "You...you're Mr Kim's grandson, aren't you? What are you doing here?" He tightened his clench on the female's hand as he scrutinised the third individual and warily eyed him as he approached them.
"I live here." He simply stated, causing the older boy to scout around the area as though inspect for any nearing impurities and deeming the environment to be swarming with pestilences.
"Looks like this place is just teeming with infestations..." He dropped his gaze back on the male who stopped himself beside the girl while Vince refused to unlatch her hand regardless of how subtly and bluntly she was trying to pluck it away. He felt disgusted and horrified at the mere thought of his beloved troubling herself in such a plagued environment where she could be a potential victim to any one of the males' sick amusement.
"I'm also here to take (Y/n) to my room." Seok looked over to the girl as he said so, triggering a flair of contempt from the intolerant young man.
Vince suspiciously glared at the boy as he took a step closer to the girl in preparation to shelter her from any unwanted intentions. "And what exactly would you like to do with sweet (Y/n) in your room?"
"What I'd like?" Seok gazed towards the female as he entered a state of deep contemplation, assessing the inquiry with careful thought. After he had made up his mind on the conclusive answer he turned his attention on his interrogator to grant him the casual answer. "I'd like to sleep with her."
"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" A burst of aggression and anger erupted from the older male as his glare flared at the boy in a warning to stand down. He wrapped the girl up in his arms, reeling her into his chest where he protectively shielded her from the boy's targeted goal.
(Y/n) also was slightly taken aback by his blunt statement as well, until she reminded herself of how everything seemed to have a twist with the boy. 'He doesn't mean...' She doubtfully assessed before craning her head away from Vince's chest to send the neutralistic house member a beckoning gaze. "Seok, could you elaborate on that?"
"I'd like us to nap together." He periphrases, bringing some conclusion over the female's assumption.
"Oh ok, that's better-"
"Still absolutely not!" Vince interrupted, remaining highly unwilling towards even the innocent rendition of Seok's desire. He quickly pulled the girl to stand behind him, taking an intimidating stance towards the boy as he towered above his smaller frame. "Listen here, my bride is not going to be laying in bed -or even staying in the same room- with another man!" His anger seemed controlled and tamed yet no less hostile and lethal than the average rage. Vince crossed his arms before his chest to finalise his verdict on the situation, without much hope of his judgement being changed. "She is not going to go anywhere with you."
As the girl listened to his restrictions and controlling mannerisms, she realised the fallacy in her judgement in regards to peacefully finishing her work. With the attitude the male had been exhibiting he would most likely hamper the little progress she had left. The stress of his presence began weighing down on her and the girl felt her mind turning, her stomach aching and legs weakening. She needed time to fully grasp at the situation and process his feelings and fondness for her. (Y/n) felt faint as her head progressively began fluttering away before coming back and repeating its escaping motions, leaving her fatigued and frail.
Seok stared at his aggressor as he began analysing the inclination behind his warning. "Is that decision only based on what you want?" Vince furrowed his brow at the ongoing input of the boy before reluctantly nodding his head at the question. "I see..." Seok looked down to the floor, working his brain to come to a decision on what he is feeling towards the man's restrictions. When he had made up his mind over the matter, he looked back up at his dark eyes. "Then I really don't give a s**t."
Vince's expression fixed from surprise to pure resentment as he unfolded his arms to bear over the boy. "You lowlife b*****d-"
The worker quickly passed the older male to approach the stoic boy and place her hands upon his shoulders apologetically. "Seok, listen. I'm really sorry but I need to go home right now. I really can't do this today." Seok's expression seemed to falter at this as his face sunk in disappointment and dejectedness. "I'm really sorry, I just need time alone right now. I promise I'll make it up to you. Goodbye." She rushed through her explanation, impatient to distance herself from her current situation and allow her mind to process the events of the day without getting overwhelmed by more.
"But..." Seok trailed off as the girl apologetically had to take her leave and, to her already unnerved state, be followed by the young man in close pursuit. The blond watched as she departed, fixating an intense, spiteful glare towards the male that had forced her to take the break.
"(Y/n), where are you going?" Vince questioned, quickly keeping up with her fast strides as she marched towards another door that belonged to one of the occupants of the household. The older male quietly stayed by her side as she tried to ignore his presence while knocking on the frame.
Giovanni emerged from his room to greet the girl with a heartfelt smile. "(Y/n)! Perfetto, I was just about to start preheating the oven-"
"Giovanni, I'm really sorry but I can't today. I really need to go home and rest, my head is starting to hurt and I need some time alone. I'm so sorry, I'll make it up to you tomorrow, I promise." She blundered with her speech, attempting to make the process as smooth and quick as possible, leaving the boy in the dust of her explanation.
"What?" He looked at her with disbelief and rising aggravation. The female quickly left the speechless boy to process the information. Giovanni stared at her departing form as he shouted out in frustration. "Is this a joke?!" When the girl gave him no answer he turned his attention to the male that was preparing to follow her, giving him an accusatory glare. "You..."
Vince paused for a moment to assess the boy that had regarded him, seeming to hold no recognition on his appearance or even existence within the compound. "God you people just keep popping out of nowhere." He muttered before tracking towards the departing female.
As (Y/n) swiftly descended the stairs, she noticed Akai preparing to scale them with the intention of finding and accompanying her. He stood still once he realised her return and prepared to say something, only to be cut off by the rushing girl. "Hey Akai, listen, I'm going home right now. Good luck with the notebook, I'll see you tomorrow, bye." She barely paused between words as she spoke out in a single lung of breath. She glanced towards Padraig who still seemed to be troubled with the task of processing the information. The worker felt her instincts urge her to look away from the male as she could already feel her heart clenching once her mind flashed back to the last time they had directly spoken. Darting her eyes to the ground, she jogged towards the door where she picked up her bag and opened the entrance to escape all her troubles.
Vince was still closely pursuing her, completely ignoring the threats of the red-haired male and even passing the two individuals who had not moved from their spots since the beginning. "Mr Lamont, wait! We have a meeting in an hour, where are you going?!" The woman who had accompanied him on his visit attempted to catch his attention with her reminder, while the man didn't give her so much as a glance as he prepared to exit the building and follow the young female.
"Tell them it's cancelled!" He threw back before completely exiting the building.
"At such short notice, are you serious?!" She frustratingly snapped before realising she was shouting at no one.
(Y/n) swiftly made her way to the bay stop where she urgently checked down the empty road to see if her mode of transport was approaching. She nervously tapped her heel against the ground, urging for the bus to arrive before the male did. No such luck. "(Y/n), is everything alright? Are you going home?" Vince stopped beside her to worriedly gaze at the nervous girl. She couldn't grant him the eye contact he desired and could only stare ahead while intentionally trying to avoid his sight.
"Yeah, I'm not feeling too good." She informed. Vince immediately jolted on the spot as he analysed the girl with a concerned gaze.
"You're not?! How do you feel? Would you like me to take you to the hospital? I'll drive you home if you insist. I'll bring you whatever you want." He began blurting out, checking over the female's exterior for any critical signs of ailments and fearfully hanging over her. "I'm not letting you go home alone, if this is the case."
(Y/n) furrowed her brow with annoyance before beginning to inspect the inside of her bag, rummaging through her few belongings as she halfheartedly regarded the older boy. "No, you don't have to..." However, the man seemed more than insistent as he continued pressing on while the girl denied him in vain as she continued searching through her bag. "It's fine Vince, honestly...ugh, damn it! Where did I put it?" She irritatingly heaved, her face furrowing with annoyance and rising temper as her scavenge through her property seemed to bear no results. Vince became perplexed by her exasperation and worriedly stared at her.
"What's wrong, dear?" He questioned the irritated female who breathed out a heavy sigh before turning her dejected disposition towards the male.
"I left my phone back in the house..." She sadly spoke, hanging her head as she let her bag slump in her hold. "Damn it..." The older boy noticed the downcast state that enveloped her and immediately felt his instincts respond.
"I'll go get it for you." He assuringly informed her, firmly grasping her shoulder before shining her a charming smile. (Y/n) reciprocated his grin with a thankful one, gratefully gazing up at him.
"Would you?" She questioned, receiving a prompt nod from the male. Vince quickly proceeded to run back to the house while the female guiltily watched his disappearing form. She knew he wouldn't find it. She knew her phone would never reveal itself to him. She still had it safely tucked into one of the inner pockets of her bag, and she knew that as well. She had simply been searching for an excuse that would delay him for long enough until her transport to home arrived. And as she nervously waited for a few minutes, the bus finally appeared on the road.
(Y/n) shuffled down the sidewalk towards her house, her eyes feeling strained and her brain feeling tense. She felt as though her body had gained a ton of mass over her trip home while her state seemed conveniently reflected by the low silver clouds that cloaked the sky into a canvas of grey. Walking towards her house, she rubbed her eyes to rid the soreness in them.
'Why was all that so mentally draining...I need time to think, there are too many people crowding my mind.' As she turned the corner to her street, she noticed a very familiar prestige black car parked in front of her premises. She would have squandered her last bit of energy on preying it wasn't who she thought it was had her suspicions not been confirmed by the male that was staring at her house just outside the property.
Vince noticed her approaching form and granted the girl a greeting smile in contrast to her scowling frown. "Ah, I hoped you still lived here. I came over as soon as possible." He positively informed the irked female.
"You knew where I lived?" She questioned with irritation, feeling even less safe in her own surroundings while Vince widely smiled at her.
"Of course! I would never forget where my future bride lived, I spent countless hours just monitoring this compound and anticipating for the moment you would come out to be seen." His excited and passive approach to his past mannerisms made the girl question whether he was being serious or not. Vince's expression promptly switched to one of realisation before digging into the pocket of his expensive coat. "Almost forgot, your phone."
(Y/n) froze at the sound of those words as she came to the suspicion that the boy had mistakenly taken another individual's device under the assumption it was her own. She quickly attempted to fix the misunderstanding before the older boy had even revealed it to her. "Oh Vince, it's fine. I found my phone in my bag so it's best you go return that one where you found it-"
"But this does belong to you." He contradicted, handing the girl a large square sealed in plastic with the image of an exquisitely modern smartphone printed on each pure white face of the container. The girl stared at the offering before fixating her gape on the male and questioning his actions. "Well, I couldn't find your one back at the house so on my way here I decided to go buy you a new one. This is the most updated model and most popular brand on the market. It has raving reviews so I figured it should be a decent replacement." He handed the gift to her, causing her fingers to shiver at the pricy and attentive gesture before she panicked and sent an astounded glare towards the male.
"Vince, I never asked for...-the newest model you say...?" She gazed down at the present as her temptations became tested at that point while the male simply smiled and confirmed his words and his statement. The girl felt conflicted, she could have only hoped that one day she would make enough money or the price would drop low enough to afford such a luxury, but never believed it would be so easily and nonchalantly handed to her as though it were a bare minimum to be gained. She couldn't help but stare at the gift as all her reasoning and obdurateness began fading with the satisfaction of gaining such a commodity. "This is...no! No, take it back!" She vehemently shook her head with disapproval, shoving the item back into the disappointed male before she could change her mind. "I didn't ask you to buy me anything. So don't do it!" She sternly told him, directing her movements towards her home in hopes of entering before she could get further enticed by him.
"Can I come in too?" He eagerly questioned, making the girl's patience weather at the request for permission.
"No."
Regardless, the male proceeded to approach her with an expectant smile as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. "But it's been so long since I've been here, I want to be a part of my future bride's life." (Y/n) internally winced at his words as she couldn't help but feel guilty at her cold attitude towards a person that was so pure with his intentions.
She sighed at his earnest objective before composing her tone and regarding him with a careful seriousness. "Vince, look, I don't know if you're really serious about all this but-" As she prepared to place her side of the argument, the door to her house opened to reveal a person exiting from the building.
Mikah stepped out in his trainers with his classical attire of mostly nothing. He halted himself on the spot once he noticed the pair staring at him who reciprocated the eye contact while Vince's gaze darkened as he assessed the mostly nude male before turning his panicked attention onto the girl with pain and fear lining his visage. "(Y/n)...why is there a half-naked man in your house?! Is this why you keep distancing yourself from me?" The girl realised the insinuation that he was inferring to and blankly gaped at him with shock. "Listen, I forgive you! We can work through this. I won't even be angry as long as you kick him out of your house and your life right now!" He enthused, encouraging the female to sever all relations with her supposed lover.
"He's just my brother." She corrected, causing the older boy's features to slacken with relief and realisation.
Vince quickly screwed on a smile as he directed his gaze towards the brother. "Oh yes, I forgot you had one of those." He chirped at his own forgetfulness before approaching the male with a bright smile, taking his hand to politely shake it. "Hello, it's nice to meet you again...Mmm...Mike?" He uncertainly muttered before retracting on the guess to replace it with another close substitute. "Mmm...Michael...M...Marco."
"Mikah." The younger boy finally corrected him, making the male light up at the recollection.
"Oh yes, apologies. I have not thought about you that often, haha." He awkwardly chuckled while the girl gave him a slightly pointed scowl.
"You remembered everything except my brother's name."
Vince gave her a crooked smile as he tried to brush away the awkwardness in the atmosphere. "Please forgive me darling, I mostly focus my memory on you. Besides, you seem to have a lot of relations that have 'M' names so I hope you can understand my confusion." He sincerely apologised while the girl gave him a slightly muddled look.
"What?"
"Who are you?" Her older sibling inquired as he gazed up at the unfamiliar individual from the girl's past. Vince shined him a pleasant smirk as he spoke up in an assured tone with pride over the title.
"I'm her future fiancé." He informed, not seeming to faze the boy beside make him seem slightly intrigued. (Y/n) on the other hand sent him a sharpened stare that bored into the back of his head.
Mikah proceeded to send his gaze in her direction and remarked on the situation with a calm approach. "You're getting married? Congratulations sis."
"Don't be so nonchalant about it!" She snapped at the male who seemed just as bothered by her words as he was with Vince's. The older sibling simply adjusted his backpack over his shoulders before turning his attention back on the girl to inform her of his schedule.
"I'm going to the sports club. I'll see you when I come back." Mikah informed his younger sibling as he started jogging towards his next destination. (Y/n) seemed slightly exhausted from repeating herself as he neared to pass her.
"I'd ask you to put clothes on, but that'll be too much for you, wouldn't it?" She didn't receive an answer or even regard as the boy ran past her form without seeming to hear a word of her concern. Once he had disappeared, the girl proceeded to laboriously drag herself towards her house while Vince expectantly waited for the female to regard him, however, was denied the attention.
"May I come in?" He more so requested than inquired, but was blocked off from the entrance by the obstructing and refusing girl.
"Vince, I am not welcoming you into my house. Go home." Vince's mood slightly plummeted at the statement as he tried to hold his sinking heart in place.
"But I can't." He informed her, causing the female to furrow her brow in confusion at the easy resolution to his dilemma.
"What do you mean you can't? Your car is-" She directed her attention towards the vehicle the male had arrived with, only to see her driveway empty and the large piece of machinery nowhere in sight. "Where's your car...?"
"I asked my driver to leave me here for a while. He'll come back near the evening." Vince happily informed, almost too satisfied with the fact he had an excuse to remain on the premises and for a long period of time.
"What? Why?" (Y/n) frustratingly questioned, feeling her head aching with aggravation and exhaustion every second she had to spend dealing with the presented problems.
The young man seemed slightly disheartened at her negative approach to his company. "I wanted to stay with you for a while."
"Then call him back and ask him to pick you up." She continued insisting only to get an even more draining response from the older boy.
"I can't, he's currently running an important errand for me." (Y/n) let out a strong sigh as she felt her body weakening and slumping with every second she was in the situation.
"Well, I can't help you more than this. Either call a cab or walk home. I'm not letting you inside my house." The stern declaration made the man give her small smile, holding gentle denial to her own terms and refusal for her opposition.
"I'm not going to go...I want to stay as close to you as possible." The pair stared at each other for a few seconds: the male warmly holding her in his gaze while the girl sharpened her glower as she internally insisted within her mind for a solution to his efforts. She grunted after a while before proceeding to retreat inside her home.
"Well, whatever happens from this point is not my responsibility." Informing him of her final verdict, she closed the door to him, isolating the man outside her house. The female pressed her hand to her temple as she felt a migraine advancing to swallow up her mind. She sluggishly approached the living room to see her younger sibling watching cartoons on their television, with a drink and snacks beside her.
"Welcome back, (Y/n). You look awful..." As Mai turned her attention on the girl, she noticed the hallowed out look on her person and gave her older sister a worried gaze.
"Yeah, I feel like it too, haha...listen, I'll go take a nap in my room. Will you be ok alone down here?" She quizzed, reluctant to leave the child on her own but also inclined by her presumptions that she would faint at any second.
"Yeah, I'll watch Spongebob." She informed before turning her focus on the TV once again.
(Y/n) entered her room in a stupor before limping towards her bed where she collapsed onto the mattress and allowed her agonised brain to spread through her body. Her gaze remained on the ticking clock as her heavy eyelids covered her eyes, swallowing in peace as her mind began simmering down with tranquillity. And as her perception dulled and muted, her ears picked up on the light pitter patters that danced on her window before she descended into unconsciousness.
(Y/n) opened up her vision once more when she heard the indicative rumble of thunder clashing through the sky. She grunted as she turned her gaze towards the clock to notice how long she had been out for. Nearly two hours. The girl couldn't remember the last time she had had a nap as long as that and sat herself up to stretch and rub her head. To her relief though, she definitely felt more rejuvenated and refreshed after rebuilding up her energy and allowing her thoughts to rest and clear. Checking out the window, she watched the heavily falling rain crashing onto the glass as each branch and leaf seemed to dance and away from the greatly descending droplets of water.
As the female watched the outside, her mind couldn't help but stray back to the boy that she had left outside a long while ago. 'He probably left by now...' However, as she considered the idea more and more, her conscience began weighing down on her as her doubts slowly decimated.
When her consideration couldn't be ignored, she stood up from her bed to check on the outside. As she trudged down the stairs, there were still hopeful disbeliefs that loomed over her mind. She knew he had to have left as soon as the weather changed for the worst. And as she unlocked the door and opened it to the outside world, she planned on confirming her wishes.
Vince remained in the same space that he was left in. His form didn't seem slightly deterred by the horrendous downpour and even seemed somewhat serene and at peace as he held his head lifted towards the crying sky, allowing the rain to wash over his face as he kept his eyes closed, preventing his vision from getting obstructed. He almost seemed in a meditative state, yet so absorbed in thought that he didn't pay much attention to the cold, damp climate.
The male finally seemed to snap out of his daze to glance towards the door as he distinctly heard a light gasp past the pouring droplets. (Y/n) quickly shut her door, uncaring whether he witnessed it or not considering he seemed to already take awareness to her presence. The female pressed her back to the frame as she felt guilty frustration building up inside her from the committing display. 'Is this idiot serious...?' Her angry enquiry echoed in her mind as she began weighing out her options of what to do.
Vince allowed the cold liquid to shower his expression as his muffled hearing listened to the sound of the rain's incessant tapping. He drowned out all of reality around him as he placed his mind on the female, trying to recall and memorise as many details as possible from their interactions. However, his track of thought was abruptly interrupted as he felt a cloth smack his head. Reaching up to touch the material, it seemed to have a similar texture to a towel and he glanced towards the source of the throw.
(Y/n) sent him a wary and annoyed scowl from the doorway before she fully opened the entrance to her house. "I called up a cab to come and pick you up, but I'm not paying for it. It'll be here in a few minutes, come in and warm yourself up until then." She informed him, stepping away from the threshold to indicate it's temporary opening to the boy. Vince stared at the gesture for a few seconds before a wide and pleased smile appeared across his features as he proceeded to pace up to the building.
"Thank you, sorry for the trouble." He informed her with a smile that seemed more satisfied than what his words let on to. The girl simply sighed as she reached her hands out out of habit from politeness.
"Let me take your coat so it can dry up on the rack." She beckoned. The female felt slightly bare and uncomfortable at the dreamy gaze the male was placing on her and had to ignore the affectionate grin that was planted on his features. As she took his drenched coat and made him slip out of his moist shoes, the boy happily dried his hair and fondly clung onto the cloth that she had given him.
Vince afforded to stray his enchanted gaze away from the girl to glance at a door beside the stairs as his memory of her compound began mapping itself in his recollection once again. "Is your room still downstairs?" The female glanced away from her hostly actions to catch where the male's sights had landed on before she dismissively shook her head.
"No...mine is upstairs now-Vince?" She hadn't had time to process the movements as a dark blur sped away at the corner of her eye. (Y/n) shot her vision towards the mentioned stairs to witness the male hastily ascending them with evident eagerness to reach a certain destination as soon as possible. "Vince! Vince what are you doing?!" She lodged herself on the first step, preparing to sprint after him the moment her suspicions were founded. And when the young man turned his swift motions towards her private chambers she began building up momentum to pursue him and halt his intentions. "Vince! Don't go into my room-!"
To the girl's already chaotic mind she heard a loud chink originating from the kitchen, followed by progressively vocalising weeps that turned into a cry. "Sissy, I spilt my juice!" She heard her downhearted sister whine, crushing her resolute preparation to be split between her original concern and the new issue.
As she listened to her saddened sibling sniffling, her mind worked quickly to come to a decision. "Oh Mai...Vince, do not go into my room!" She stepped down from the stairs and had to be content for that moment to shout up at the boy, who seemed less than deterred, and reluctantly paced towards her distressed younger sibling. "Vince, I'm warning you! I didn't give you permission, stay out of my room!" As her final remark faded out into the boy's consciousness, he stood himself in front of the door that was deemed forbidden to him.
Vince's eyes radiated as his pulse accelerated. He had always dreamed of reaching the level of intimacy and familiarity that would allow him to enter his bride's bedroom, and felt as though their relationship was evolving through the act. One could learn a lot about another person by their surroundings and he was ecstatic to find out more about the girl.
As he unclosed her abode, he let himself to step inside the room where his heart hammered against his ribs. There seemed to be a wave of bliss engulfing him as he looked around the neatly tidied room where the female held some memorabilia and decorative items occasionally scattered in a few areas. Vince became energised as his thoughts rushed with possibilities of where to start. And as his options began piling in his overwhelmed state, he noticed a few articles of clothing hanging in front of her wardrobe.
Approaching the blouses and shirts that she had placed on the hangers his hands trembled with excitement that he hadn't experienced before. When he brought them up to gently place them against the material there was a burst of exultation that overcame him as he ran his fingers across the material that had once been assigned to cover the girl's flesh.
He ran his grip through the sleeve of the clothing before bringing the fabric up to place against his cheek. 'If only I could be these clothes for a day, I'd understand so much about you.' He retreated from the shirts to finally give them a scrutinising sure as his mind worked on modifications and alterations to create much more unique and luxurious design from such plane and uninspired styles.
As his tactical gaze finally strayed away, he noticed the structure where the female would slumber during the night. He approached the frame where he sat down on the mattress and watched over the empty section. As he carefully traced over the surface with his eyes before beginning to do the same with his hand. He proceeded to lay down on the bed in the same space where the girl's body would be positioned to rest. Vince couldn't help but smile to himself at the comfort that came from the indirect contact. He could still feel the warmth that her body had left on the sheets and it caused some giddiness within him.
As he sat up, he took the pillow that rested at the top of her bed and began hugging the item and pressing into it where he could pick up her scent and the thermal warmth. He felt like a child that was receiving the most amazing presents he could possibly hope to have. 'If I promised to give her a thousand luxurious pillows will she let me keep this one?' He whimsically thought to himself as he was lost in the world that surrounded him with her belongings.
"What are you doing?" He heard a gruff tone originate from the doorway. Vince looked over to the individual to stare into the girl's annoyed and fed up expression as she also watched him. "Get out of my room."
Vince momentarily perked up at her company and sent her a cheerful grin to invite her over to him. "Darling! You have such a charming room. Though I don't approve of the clothes you wear. How about we go out and shop for new ones? I can show you some from my brand that you might like."
"Get out of my room." She simply repeated in an uninterested and level voice that declared her sternness on the subject.
"Come on now, I'm not doing anything. I have fantastic manners mind you." He proudly declared with a smirk while the girl continued staring and waiting for him with an unchanged expression.
"Manners that don't stop you from going into a lady's room after she clearly prohibited you a number of times? Get out." Vince frowned at her analogy before giving her a dismissive grin over his actions.
"I know it was insensitive of me for doing that but I couldn't help myself. I just wanted to feel so much closer to you after such a long time." He let out a deep sigh as he said so, pretensioning the pillow that he still held in his arms.
"I'm going to kick you out of my house in a moment if you don't leave my room. Get out."
"No, wait!" With prehension over her promise, the male finally seemed to become agitated by the claim and looked around her room to search for a specific item of interest. "Listen, come over here." He pulled up a chair in front of him before tapping it indicatively for her to join. "I'll leave without any hassle if you allow me to talk with you." (Y/n) uncertainly stared at the furniture before transitioning her suspicious gaze towards he male who eagerly waited for her. "The cab is going to arrive any moment now anyway, I promise to leave as soon as it does, so come here and let me talk with you." After a few moments of careful pondering, she released a hard sigh before reluctantly walking over towards the chair. She pulled it further away from the older boy before sitting herself in it with crossed arms and a scowl.
"What do you want?" She questioned in a tired tone, wishing to be freed from the burden that he was at that moment.
Vince simply kept smiling at her even after she had asked her question and didn't stray his eyes off her until he found the ground to voice out his thoughts. "After all these years, your tastes seem so different yet so unchanged." He wistfully spoke while she sharpened her sights.
"I've changed, I don't see what you're on about." Passively commenting on his remark, (Y/n) watched while he chuckled at her retort.
"You claim that but I can see you still have a love for keychains that hasn't died out yet." He gazed over to the box that lay on her desk which overflowed with numerous figures attached to their hooped counterparts while the girl embarrassingly gulped as her guilt was exposed. "Let me presume, one of the drawers in your desk is filled with them right?" He continued with a playful tone while the female glared at him with accusing intent.
"Did you snoop through my drawers?" She interrogated, earning a happy shake of the head from the innocent young man.
"I have not opened a single thing in this room."
"You're such a weird guy..." She muttered, straying her eyes to the floor out of shame for still being so translucent.
"A handsome and honourable weird man I assume." He corrected her with a knowing grin. And as the silence settled in his features became more downcast as his smirk turned into a wishful smile. "I lied you know..." (Y/n) looked up at the male with a raised eyebrow, for a moment being under the impression he was referring to her previous question, but was proven wrong. "About the time I fell in love with you. That was indeed the first time we met but it was not the place where my feelings for you manifested...in fact, I had never felt so annoyed with another person as much as I had with you after our first meeting." This seemed to catch her interest as she shuffled closer to the edge of the chair to engage in the topic of the conversation.
"You mentioned the first time we met but it's still so very unclear to me...I barely remember." She could recall short snippets and paused images but her memory of the encounter was almost nonexistent as she had lost some of the moments over the years.
Vince was reassured on his side though, completely illustrating confidence and knowingness over their encounter with accurate precision. "It was a long time ago, but I've reminded myself of our moments every day that the details are still so fresh and unchanged in my mind."
Vince slowly felt his body backing away, working against his mind to hold his ground stand up honourably against the group of three whose interests were piqued by the large, shiny black ball he held in his hands. The boy could only glare at the two males who were preying on him while the third member of their party seemed more amused by his book than the smooth object the pair were trying to get their hands on.
"When my mother said there were rats on the streets I never imagined they could be this thieving." Vince commented, defensively glaring at each one of them to deter their intentions.
The two boys grimaced at his words before looking at each other in search for the meaning behind his remark. "What does he mean by that?" The boy who seemed to be the frontrunner of the trio questioned his second in command. When the second boy gave an inconclusive shrug he turned his attention to the third party member who was detached from the altercations. "What did he mean by that?" He questioned the disinterested boy who boringly answered.
"He's comparing you to rats and thieves."
The pair of assailant growled at the male who stood his ground at the hostility. "Do you even know who I am? If you so much as touch me with your disgusting hands I'll have you thrown in prison!" He assuringly declared while the two doubtfully laughed at the claim.
"We just want to play with the ball, don't be such a greedy douche." As they closed in on the male, Vince realised there would be a physical altercation if he didn't give the object of play willingly, which he wasn't intent on doing. Surrendering to the lowest common denominators of society was a moment worse than any beating he would experience. However, as they were in reaching distance from him, he had to suppress the fear that crept up inside him.
"Are you guys that bored?" A female voice critically questioned, attracting the attention of the boys that had paused their prioritised to look at her. The pair of ruffians looked at one another to figure out if she was referring to them. "Yes, I'm talking to you two. Hey, Steve." She looked over to the boy who was far more engaged in his book to be a part of their harassment and gave the girl a greeting wave for the friendly regard.
"Hey, (Y/n)."
The female turned her focus back on the two boys as she approached the scene closer. "How little do you guys have to have that you're taking other people's toys? Ask your parents to buy you some. If he shares then you can play and if he doesn't I don't blame him." She insultingly remarked, eyeing the two males with distaste.
The main group member grunted and took the opportunity of their victim's distraction to snatch the ball from him. Vince attempted to grab it back but was hampered by the second male holding him back. "Ha! See how easy that was? That's how strong we are!" The leader proudly declared and the pair both sneered at their outmatched victim while the girl felt irked by the action.
"No you're not! It was two against one, you're no stronger than you were before you took it! Give it back, my mum says it's not right to steal something from someone, no matter how much you might want it." She seethingly scolded the two troublemakers who were becoming increasingly irritated by her cross attitude.
The secondary member of the group seemed to have sparked some recognition on the girl's identity as he spoke to the head of their assembly. "Hey, I think she's the sister of that one weird kid."
"You mean the weird guy that walks around in his underwear?" At the sound of the implications of her blood relative, the girl immediately felt the shame and embarrassment appear on her red tinted cheeks as the boy gave her a judgemental look. "God, is their whole family just a bunch of freaks-?"
He hadn't had time to finish his insult before the female pounced on him, knocking him into the ground while the ball he had taken bounced away to leave him directing his concerns on pushing off the enraged girl. "Don't talk smack about my big brother!" As she managed to manoeuvre behind him, the girl swung one arm around his neck before locking it in place by grabbing near the bend of her other arm that she had jutted past his shoulder while the hand attached to that limb pressed at the back of his head. The never-ending cycle of pressure caused the boy to struggle for breath while the girl dug her knee into his back to keep him grounded.
"S-she's...c-cr-azy!" Hearing the staggering in his voice, she realised she was going too far with her assault and prepared to let him go completely until a hand pressed into her face and another began pulling her by her hair. The second male had finally taken the initiative to help the leading boy and was attempting to drag her off of him.
(Y/n)'s face began twisting while her locks dishevelled in the struggle. As she began getting pulled off the girl opened her mouth to allow the prying fingers to slip in before chomping down. "Ah! She bit me!" He screamed, jumping away and letting the female get unbalanced to the ground when the main boy found the opening he needed to stand up.
He proceeded to kick the girl's leg as a last act of revenge before retreating and shouting back at her. "I'll tell my dad on you!"
"Then I'll tell my mum on you! Let's see who gets busted then!" She screamed back, watching the two ruffians running away from the scene while their third member causally walked away, still focused on his book than the actual occurrence.
The girl still remained seated on the ground, scratched and bruised with her head hanging low to try and hide her upset and angry expression. All the while, the target of the harassment stood to the sides, shocked at the quickly unfolded events and was too bewildered to even move. 'She's a savage beast!' He internally accused, unable to comprehend if this was how all lower-class individuals interacted with each other. Vince was horrified, and on top of that, insulted over her rescue and felt a loathing hatred towards her and himself for allowing such a person to rescue him.
He slightly jumped when the girl directed her vision on him. She stared at the boy for a moment before her eyes wandered off towards the charcoal coloured bouncy ball that lay a few meters away from them. She got up to stand on her feet and jogged towards the item that had caused all the conflict.
She quickly walked up to the catatonic boy who snapped out of his state of bafflement once she neared him. "Here." The girl handed him the black sphere with a cheering smile, speaking out to him in a friendly voice. "You look older, I shouldn't be the one helping you out." She humorously jokes, waiting for the amazed boy to take his belonging and possibly thank her.
However, his reaction couldn't be further from what the girl expected. Vince gave her a disgusted grunt before distancing himself from her. "Ew! I'm not touching something that was handled by your infected hands!" He proclaimed, earning an astounded stare from the girl who couldn't process the response.
"What?"
Vince sneered at her before straightening his posture that held and grander display compare to his cowering introversion when faced with his assailants. "Mother said that I can get infected by the lower ranks of society and become a dullard if I came in contact with a simpleton." He factually stated, seeming to lose the girl with a few words that were not yet placed in her vocabulary.
"What?" She questioned blankly again before shaking her head and the confusion out of her. Proceeding to glare at his act of disrespect she annoyingly spoke out against him. "I'm not infected! I don't think so...Aren't you glad I helped you get your ball back?"
The boy scoffed at her inquiry before regarding her in a condescending manner. "Glad?! Don't think just because you intervened that you're better than me!" He angrily declared, leaning over her to debase her hopes. while still being far enough to avoid her contact.
"I'm not better than you overall...but I am better than you at being brave! Next time I won't help you, you can't appreciate anything that's given to you." After furiously venting out her frustration and disappointment she dismissively let go of the ball to bounce on the ground before stomping away from the scene, leaving the frustrated boy to his own devices.
Vince looked at the toy that had been brought back to him, feeling rage and aversion towards the object of his failures. He couldn't help but burn the image of the girl into his mind where his fury seethed and bubbled. He would never admit to the true shame he felt for being cornered and saved by such lowly people and would never forgive himself for submitting to their standards.
(Y/n) carefully listened and took in all the details that he explained, trying to piece together his words with her own recollections where most of them fit. Vince smiled at her after ending his point of view while waiting for the girl to take it in.
"I do distinctly remember biting someone..." She commented, earning a chuckle from the male before she could finally contribute to the subject. "But we did meet each other afterwards." She uncertainly mentioned, hoping to get a conclusive answer from the boy.
"Yes, those were the times that made me develop feelings for you. After our first meeting, you left me more than angry at you." He lightly laughed before gazing towards the girl who was deep in thought over his input. "I love you." His words snapped her out of her daze as she gaped at him for the blatant confession whereas the male was glad and found peace in finally uttering his feelings. "I'm so in love with you that I can't even put it into understandable words. I can't even see the end of all the things I'm willing to do and go through for you." He placed a hand on his heart and directed to himself before earnestly informing her. "I've become this successful and have worked hard to become the perfect man just so I can be worthy of having you." (Y/n) felt stiff at his explanation before he took her hand in his and held it close to him. "I'm the only one worthy of having you."
The female had to take a moment to process his words before she became even more confused on the matter. "But wait! When did you start liking me then? We met again after that, right?"
As Vince prepared himself to inform her further on their past, the pair heard the honking of a car just outside her house. She stared at the door in wonder while the male smirked at the indication as he got up. "Looks like we'll have to continue this another time. Unless you want me to stay?" He hopefully questioned the dazed girl who seemed fascinated enough to actually be ready to take him up on his offer.
"No, it's best that you go now..." She informed the disappointed older boy who stood up to walk towards the door. "Vince..." She lightly called him, making her leaving guest turn around with an enthusiastic and hopeful glint in his eyes. "Could you give back my pillow please...?" He looked down at the item of question that he had become so comfortable with hold that he hadn't realised he was walking away with it. Though he would be lying if he wasn't interested in keeping it.
Once he set it back in its place, he turned his attention on the female as he placed a hand on her cheek. "Maybe next time we see each other I'll have some pretty earrings to put on those cute ears." He promisingly informed her as he brushed his fingers against her lobe upon retracting his hand.
The female wasn't in the state to even escort him out of her house and simply remained in her seat, motionless, while the boy took his belongings from downstairs and let himself out of the front door. After a few moments of silent listening, (Y/n) darted out of her chair and ran downstairs as she felt the suspicion that he still hadn't left, looming over her.
However, her assumptions were denied when she opened her door only to be greeted by the still pouring rain that remained unchanged. She closed the door, remaining in deep distraction as she stood in her spot while the whole day seemed to flash before her. As her gaze drifted around the area, it fell on an anomaly within the environment that was new to the scene. Upon approaching the miniature table that sat beside the coatrack, she recognised the white box that had been previously offered to her by the male as a gift.
She checked if it was definitely the phone he had bought her and confirmed it to be the exact one. Sighing out her irritation the girl pressed her head against a wall after feeling another headache approaching her. "God, what even was today...?"
