Chapter 27: A Return
Sunday, June 5th
Quickly exited out of the bus, uncaring whether her steep steps would lead her into a misfortunate accident as her mind was focused on a single task alone. Her mind had bustled with excitement and anticipation the night before to a point where slumber was subdued to a later hour than usual, and awakening was brought at the pique hours of the morning. Her excitement drove her to acquire the earliest bus possible before either of her siblings even woke up.
'This will definitely get him! There's no way he can make any pompous excuse now.' She quickly ran towards the building where she passed the entrance of the gates. As her speed decelerated into a small jog, the girl came to a slight halt in front of the stone creation that situated itself in the centre of the front of the compound. Staring up at the elegant carving, a triumphant smile lined her lips like a title of her glory. 'He stuck to his promise...thank goodness.'
(Y/n) quickly gained momentum once more as broke out into an inpatient run, climbing the steps in multiples at a time before she finally approached the entrance. Upon letting herself in, her focused determination caused her to completely disregard the confused state that came from her superior who was momentarily passing through.
"Oh, good morning, (Y/n). You're early today...-" Nori's words were only received by the silence as the female made a quick escape towards the second floor. The man stared at her flamboyant energy as she disappeared from sight as quick as she had appeared. The worker had to collect any sort of inclination on hints over her excessive eagerness, simply resulting on smiling to himself once his mind failed to make a connection. "Children these days..."
The female worker lightly panted towards the corridor that was lined with a number of the quarters she had worked on. Once her eyes fully viewed the surroundings, the girl was pleasantly presented with the image of the dark-haired sculptor who seemed to be clasping onto his stone goblin as though he might disappear from his arms. (Y/n) cautiously approached the disconcerted male who became alerted at her presence.
"No! You stay there! I know he sent you to take them away but I won't allow it! I'll fight you! I've worked too hard to just see it disappear, it's only a matter of time, I won't let that damn b*****d completely win over." Padraig frantically refuted, protectively shrouding the stone creature in a defensive grasp as the girl tried to lightly step in to soothe him.
"Padraig, calm down. Your statues-" Upon her attempt of closing the large gap between them, the male bit his lip in frustration and anger, tightening his hold on his creation. Snapping the female into silence, he glared at her with eyes filled with cold aggression, malice and discordance. (Y/n) retracted as she sensed a flair of distress and tribulation in his voice, like a wounded animal lashing out for safety. To her unanticipated surprise, the boy displayed uncharacteristic vulnerability as he seemed to confine himself in his state of higher grandeur.
"I can't...I can't hesitate like this...I can't let it slip like this..." His quivering voice became agonised at his throat as he felt a harsh and glaring weight pushing down on his shoulders. (Y/n) watched him silently from afar. Watching him curling against the lifeless stone in stubborn desperation.
The silence was broken soon after a pair of feet invaded the echoing surroundings. The two turned their attention towards the newcomer, to see a sleepy expression greeting them. Padraig clenched his jaw in tight aggression before sprawling up to confront the boy that was deemed to be a threat to him.
"I won't allow you to exercise your authority over me. I will argue over this and I won't let you take my hard work away from me." The sculptor was prepared to assert his demand over the blond, ready to counteract any refusal he had and defy his measures.
"Keep them." Seok simply responded, earning a baffled glare from the male who remained under cautious doubt at his genuineness. Padraig carefully stared at his features for any sign of sarcasm but found nothing in the boy's stoic expression.
"What?"
"I won't put them into storage if you keep them out of the way. So I don't care for these." The male specified over the gargoyle and the large statue just outside the building, catching the sculptor off guard at the lenient reveal.
"Really?" Padraig's wide and hopeful eyes stared as he switched his bewildered gaze between the sculpture and his housemate.
"Yeah, keep them." He calmly answered the hyped male, causing him to kneel down and pat his creation in a comforting display.
"Thank goodness! I'm so relieved you finally came to your senses and recognised my work." Padraig exclaimed through a sense of jurisdiction while the girl scoldingly scowled at the unaware boy.
"I think you should also thank Seok for his change of heart." She stated, earning a disbelieving and lost look from the obdurate male.
"Why? This was his doing in the first place. This shouldn't have been a problem from the start." The sculptor refuted back, only to be discouragingly glared at by the female.
"Despite that, he could have gone through with his threat and left you completely empty handed. At least be a little grateful that he's going easy on you." Padraig kept glaring at the female while she reciprocated the gesture back. As either of them began a silent match of visual dominance, the boy eventually caved in before huffing in distaste.
He stood up to fully regard the disinterest boy and clear his throat numerous times of the gagging sensation that followed. "Seok Kim." Padraig loudly began, almost eluding to a grand and preemptive speech on the matter. "I know you and I have obvious -obvious- differences and mutual disregard for one another. Ever since the first day we met I knew we were going to clash in many ways. With me being as high maintenance as I am and you being so...unproductively inclined. Despite this-"
"Can you waste my time a bit quicker, please." Seok casually rushed him, portraying a clear disinterest in the boy's show of gratitude which caused Padraig to grumble at the demeaning attitude before the female took over for the irritated boy.
"He's trying to say thank you, Seok. He really appreciates your cooperation."
"Oh, ok." The male replied, seeming disinterested at the entire spectacle or display of gratitude before proceeding to walk past the fuming boy. Padraig restricted himself from snapping at his apathetic housemate, trying to hold onto the dangling last semblance of composure and respect that was crumbling.
As Seok left the pair, (Y/n) gave the artist a calm smile to try and lighten the situation. "So, are you happy?" She piped, watching the male kneel down in front of his creation to assure its existence. He let out a gladsome exhale before smiling at the approaching girl.
"I can't express my relief right now. I really don't know what I would have done if I had lost my last bits of hard work..." He grinned to himself in thankful solace as a melancholic veil draped over his form. The girl kneeled down beside him with her own gladsome visage and patted the boy's shoulder in comfort.
She looked back down the corridor where the blond had previously walked and smiled to herself. "I'm so glad he agreed to my request. I was worried it was a bit too demanding." While the girl was gratefully directing herself away, Padraig turned his attention towards the female, staring at her in confusion to the reveal of her involvement.
"What do you mean?" He questioned, holding a perplexed gaze on his company.
"I asked Seok if he can leave these last few statues for you. He was so quick to agree that I didn't think he was serious." She chuckled to herself before regarding the male's astonished expression.
"You requested that for my sake...?" His eyes fixated on the girl for answers, disbelieving she had the moral ground to favour his desires.
She assuringly nodded before knowingly smirking to herself at his rebuttal. "Yeah, I know how much these mean to you." Stating her concern, (Y/n) brought up a small grin at her small display of triumph. "I told you I understand what struggling is like. I know it all too well to watch someone else going through it." She encouragingly remarked with an aware smirk which the male stared at with disbelieving comprehension.
As Padraig continued watching her comforting presence for further evaluation, he sensed a stirring warmth inside of him that quickly became prominent in his perception once the daze of her assistance had begun dissolving. "...Oh no. Oh no, no." The boy swiftly stood himself up with unbalanced motions before backing away from the girl as she began clouding his judgement. (Y/n) stared at his sudden switch in mood and had to carefully analyse the situation before voicing her confusion.
"Padraig?"
"Shut up and give me a moment!" The male snapped with a panicked and urgent tone before dodging his body inside his room where his flustered self remained out of sight from the bemused girl. Padraig pressed his body against the frame, under the delusion that the door would be opened at any moment for any eyes to witness his exposed interior.
As his mind was finally taken off of the girl, the boy immediately noticed the intense and sharp palpitations in his chest. He gaped at the vigorous beats within himself, pushing his hand against the thumping motions where he felt each fervent vibration.
'What is...? Oh no. This isn't right.' The male worriedly thought before his bafflement was replaced with fear once realisation settled. '...No, no. You're being a fool Padraig, compose yourself.' He shook away the distracting disturbance of the inclination before straightening out his appearance and collecting himself. 'That's right. She's a no one. You're just getting overexcited, of course she would show kindness to you. It's only natural for someone below my standards as her to show respect to someone superior as me.' Adjusting his dishevelled appearance, the boy took a deep breath to settle his agitation before reluctantly opening the door to emerge with a simmering mood.
(Y/n) stared at him from the same position as he had left her. She watched the male exhibiting a forcefulness to his usual confidence while Padraig hesitated to approach her. "Is everything alright?" She questioned the unnerved boy who seemed to be holding eye contact with difficulty.
He inhaled a heap of breath before responding to her in a strained, level tone once he had stood at her side. "Of course." Bluntly answering her with a bitter tone, the boy kept his eyes drifting towards and away from her own lost ones. "In any case, I'm not ungrateful. I commend you on your concern. Thank you..." Uttering his gratitude with great difficulty, the male kept concentrating on steadying his breath in front of her as he elt the need to colapse the more exposure he had to her presence.
(Y/n) furrowed her brow in reluctant acceptance over his blessing before chuckling. "Well...you're welcome. I couldn't be happier to see you relieved." Padraig scoffed at her optimistic response before confirming to himself with a smirk.
'That's right...everything is fine now. That back there was just an anomaly of the moment. Her and I have no equivalent thoughts about anything. Not someone as low as her...' He soured his thoughts, frantically suppressing any buildup emotions inside him that would cause his bones to jitter with excitement.
"Oh, Padraig! Look what I found yesterday while I was coming back home from work!" (Y/n) exclaimed with a frenzied spark in her voice as she reached inside her bag to rummage through it. The male had to give an enticed glance towards the curious spectacle before his entire sights grew wider at the reveal. Taking out the large, uniquely created rectangular shape, textured over the cover like an elegant treasure that held the mysteries of the universe. "It's that encyclopaedia book about all the stars and constellations and planets you were bragging about." She presented the close replica of the publication to the stunned male before she gave him an ecstatic smirk. "This one is actually in English and I can finally follow up with what you read. So you've go no excuse now, I can understand just as much as you do." She proudly jested with a satisfied smile before waving the object around in satisfaction.
Padraig directed his astounded focus towards the girl, unable to comprehend her inference of the gesture. "You got it because of me...?" The female confirmingly nodded before eagerly standing up to her feet where she sternly gazed at the hooked male.
"Well, after you've shown me a glimpse of what your hobby consists of, I was hoping that maybe you can teach me somethings as well." She exclaimed with an urgent boost in her tone. "I would really love to learn a bit about the world beyond ours and I just thought to myself, maybe we can discover the universe's mysteries together. Seems like something to keep me busy during summer." (Y/n) happily sounded while the boy's ears began to drum with the blood rushing through them from his beating heart.
Padraig assessed the situation in front of him, sensing a linking connection between their perceptions. "You're interested in this?" Puzzled over her inference, the male's head began clouding and muddling with skies of sparkling fires and glittering small suns that disappeared into her image.
(Y/n) gave the stunted male a confused smile before eagerly nodding her head. "Well, since the prince was having so much fun studying it, I wanted to give it a try as well." She enthusiastically offered, tucking the book in her arms in an amused embrace.
"Are you serious?" He breathed out in amazement, taken aback by the reveal of her intentions while (Y/n) could only regard him with a jumbled stare.
"You look a bit frazzled...are you feeling ok?" Concerning herself over his alerted state, Padraig immediately took up a defensive stance before setting a large gap between them.
"Oh no...no, this is incredibly bad..." He quietly states to himself, backing away from the befuddled girl as though she were a higher power to be wary of. He backed up from the female when he realised the entire structure of his body began lightly shaking as his head felt nauseated with panic. His breath began piling inside his lungs as his throat refused to exhale any of the build up. "This isn't right...it's impossible for someone like me to..." Refusing to end his thought and confirmation, he proceeded to stumble back, denying to take his eyes of the individual that had captured him.
"Padraig, what's wrong? You look like you might faint." The worker slowly approached the edged boy right before he snapped her away.
"Don't come closer! I refuse to accept this! You're...you're nothing!" He accusingly flared at the stunned female as his anger over his emotions began sparking his feelings to concoct with denial and guide his judgement negatively. "You're worthless! You're below me on every level! The footprints I make on the ground have more value than you ever will. Don't you dare try and snatch me in some sort of deceiving trap!" Padraig frustratingly growled, seething in his spite and malice as he refused to grasp the origin of his heart's beaconing.
(Y/n) gaped at him in bewilderment before her own dignity and patience began wearing thin. "Excuse me?! Where is all this coming from?! Did you carve yourself a stone brain or something, because you're being so damn thick in the head?! I'm a human too you know?!" She angrily snarled back, surprising the male with her respondent behaviour.
Padraig sensed a heaving weight on his conscience. A pressure he had never thought he would experience towards an ignoble individual. An intoxication he wished he could ignore. 'I refuse to feel guilty...it's not as though what I said isn't true.' He glared at the scowling girl before taking heavy strives towards the solace of the bedroom where he slammed the door shut in her field of daggered vision. "Go away right this instant! I don't want to see you right now!" He irrefutably insisted in a strong voice that caused the surrounding walls to vibrate with fury.
(Y/n) stared in shock at his reclusive mannerisms before angrily growling out to herself and directing her vocals towards her irritator. "Likewise you bigotted, bipolar jerk!" She screamed at the doorframe before turning her fuming self around to boil in her aggravation. 'Damn it...damn it, what's his problem?!' Simmering through her bubbling temper, the girl stormed around the area in frustrated pacing before grumbling a second time. 'Ungrateful douche...why do I even make the effort? If he can't appreciate some sympathy then he can go find pity in himself next time.'
While her scrunched frown remained on her sulking features, she felt indicative buzzes resonating through her bag. As she searched the contents of her belongings, the girl came to hold her mobile device that displayed numerous notifications on the screen, including missed calls and a new message.
'Mikah called...did he need something?' The female opened up her messenger to be presented with the fresh note of her sibling's request.
'You need to come home. Now!'
The girl furrowed her brow in bafflement before responding back with a dubious interrogation over the nature of the command. Concerned over the wellbeing of either of her siblings, she impatiently waited for a response to pop up, tapping her foot with unsettlement as she stood suspended in confusion.
'It's not us you should be worrying about. Come home.'
'What's all this about...?' She pondered over her brother's inclinations before typing up an immediate response. 'I should at least be allowed to finish my shift.' Another moment of silence passed before a buzz indicated a received message.
'It's best you get it over with and come now. It'll save you some trouble.'
(Y/n) huffed out a disconcert sound of cautious doubt before sighing in defeat as concern began to cloud her judgement. 'Why is today starting off like this...?' She complained in her mind as her head began to ache with stress right before she heard attracting noises emanating from around her environment. Turning towards the sounds of distraction, she noticed the company that was indicating for her from his doorway in hasty urgency. "Giovanni? What's going on?"
As she approached the boy, the agitated male began fidgeting towards her with uncertainty as he gazed around himself under high unrest. The worker gave him an uncertain gaze before mirroring his observant action.
"Why do you look so on edge? Are you expecting something to surprise you?" She half joked through a playful smile that was meant to lighten the atmosphere, only for the male to intently look at her with his large, citrus eyes. (Y/n)'s simper slowly disappeared with his frightened look as his entire form congealed in a stiff position where he retracted like a traumatised turtle.
"Some very unusual things have been happening in my room..." He gently answered before looking towards the invisible monster that plagued his quarters. "Today I woke up with all my herbs and spices spilt across the floor and when I went into the bathroom my mirror had been shattered." He frantically began raising his voice before swiftly glancing around to assure himself foreign ears were not detecting his confession as a witness. "And there was dirt in all of my drawers and my school equipment has been misplaced and when I came back from downstairs a minute ago, there were bugs in my bed." The student timidly described, each explanation bringing chilling needles to poke the inside of his skin. His entire state seemed excessively panicked and sharpened, with his body shrivelled in tension as he took heed of his surroundings.
(Y/n) came to his side to stabilise the eccentric boy as he shivered at the thought of entering back inside his room. "That's awful. Are you alright?" She worriedly questioned as she supported the panicked male.
"That's not the worst! I could have still lived through life and forgotten about all that but..." His voice dissolved away as he was reminding himself of the sight he had to bitterly uncover. "There was a dead rat on my desk." He hoarsely whispered before shuddering at the recollection. "(Y/n), what's happening? I've never been harassed like this in this house, I can't even let my guard down or go into my own room anymore." As Giovanni spilt his grief into his companion, (Y/n)'s mind began filling with considerations and suspicions that she began connecting to the concept of each assault.
'Could it be...?' As her mind filtered down to the most likely individual, her disappointment and annoyance began rising above pique levels.
"(Y/n)?" The girl was sent back down to reality as she heard a gentle voice regarding her, with hopefulness in his expression as he took her hands in a light grasp before smiling at his companion. "Maybe we can move to work in the kitchen today. I don't feel too safe in my room...so let's go get started downstairs-"
As he began tugging her towards the stairs, the female resisted against his pulls before taking her hand away, to the boy's bemusement. Giovanni's bright grin became strained before staring at her actions. "Sorry Giovanni, but I need to immediately go home. My brother's telling me it's urgent so I can't stay." The male froze in his place, a strained smile hanging loosely on his lips as though trying to interpret the whole situation as a joke.
Giovanni took a step towards her, correlated to refute against her wishes right before he stopped himself after realising his intents. Instead, he retracted internally before forcing on a smirk. "Oh...I see. Well...I guess it can't be helped..." He uncertainly supported before unintentionally squeezing his hands together in frustrated malignancy. Quickly snapping her an upturned frown as he stiffened his shoulders. "Well, if it's that serious I hope everything is alright."
(Y/n) thankfully grinned at him before thoughtfully staring off into space for a moment. She considerately pondered over the situation before looking towards the male with an exigent visage. "Giovanni, could you please be careful around Gennai for a while..." The boy under her concern gave the female a surprised and puzzled look before she shook her head to dismiss his worries. "Don't worry about it, it's nothing." She assured him, earning a reluctant nod from the male.
"Oh, actually! Before you go, I made something for you down in the kitchen. Hold on a moment!" He speedily blurted before darting inside his room, leaving the girl standing in the corridor for a few seconds at a time while shuffling and shifting sounds emerged from within the quarters. After wobbling out of the door, he presented the female with a small piece of white cake layered with different coloured jams. "I wanted you to take a taste and see if you like it. If it's to your taste, we can work with this recipe instead." He happily declared, pushing the spoonful of the desert in her mouth.
The female took a moment to process the taste at her tongue before a smile automatically spread to her face as the tender sweetness dissolved in her throat. "It's delicious! You're a star, Giovanni, thank you!" She gratefully declared, receiving a bashful grin from the relieved boy.
"Perfetto. That's just the reaction I was looking for." Ecstatic over her response, the boy failed to resist the fluster that appeared on his cheeks at her gratifying comment and wasn't able to hold back on staring at her with a brightness to his gaze. "I can't tell you how happy you've made me for the past week." He expressed through hindering timidness. The boy wasn't able to locate the exact emotions she brought out of him. The satisfaction of her smile and light tone of her words brought on pleasant sensations coursing through his head as he reminisced over their time spent together. "I haven't had this much enjoyment in someone's company in years." He cheerfully muttered before the worker gave him a thankful grin.
"Oh, Seok, you came back!" She directed her focus on a newcomer that approached the two with a white lump of living fur in his arms. "Where did you go?" Giovanni watched with a perplexed and lost gaze as the female's attention no longer sat in his vicinity and lay ahead. An itching, irritating nervousness seized his mind as he disapprovingly watched her, subconsciously hoping she would catch his condemning sights and fixate her eyes back on him.
"I went down to get Montique." Seok answered, stopping by the pair only to earn himself distasteful glares from the brunet. "Yes?" The blond noticed the boy's malignant scowls, causing Giovanni to temporarily gaze away with bothered features.
"No, just, good morning..." He simply answered back in a slightly soured tone compared to his usual tender vocals.
"Seok, have you actually eaten anything since you woke up?" (Y/n) suspiciously interrogated, earning a simple hum of consideration from the male.
"No." His reply gained an annoyed and unamused stare from the female who proceeded to snatch the plate of cake out of Giovanni's hands before aggravatingly presenting a piece to the malnourished male. Giovanni's eyes muted their vibrancy at the action as he gave a cold glare towards the blond.
"Have some. I don't understand why you keep forgetting to eat but it's not healthy." She concerned herself, pointing the spoon towards him in a coaxing manner.
"It hurts my stomach." He uncomfortably commented, being responded with an addled look.
"You should get that checked if that's the case." (Y/n) replied before enclosing the spoon towards the boy. "Just take one bite, you need to have something in you." She complained, gliding the spoon in the newcomer's direction.
Seok stared at the cutlery in hesitant consideration, looking over towards the girl's determine features lining her expression. He assessed her, watching her disquieted state over his wellbeing and lowering his guard at her concern. He looked over towards the spoon before eventually opening his mouth in expectancy to receive the food.
The female satisfyingly smiled before beginning to extend the silverware towards the permitted entrance. As she was making slow progress, her offering was abruptly halted as she felt fingers entwining around her wrist in a strong, ironclad grip. (Y/n) was stunned for a split moment before glancing towards the hand that had stopped her, only to see her cooking partner sternly glaring at the food that had been making its way towards the newcomer. The girl was taken aback by the action, staring at his behaviour to decipher the reasoning behind his blockage.
"What's wrong-?" As the girl quizzed his performance, she felt the grip around her wrist tightening, temporarily clogging up any circulation to the rest of her hand. The female reflexively squirmed and wriggled against the hold, feeling her bones and joints compressing under the strain. "Stop, that hurts." She voiced out, seeming to finally reach the male as his face swirled into concern.
"Oh, I'm incredibly sorry (Y/n)." He consoled her before letting go altogether. "I thought you were about to drop it, so I..." The male trailed off in his excuse as he drifted his eyes away.
Seok dubiously narrowed his gaze at the suspicious boy before his attention was directed back to the previous task at hand. "Anyway, come on Seok. I'm not leaving you until you take at least one bite." (Y/n) prodded once more as she proceeded to hover the spoon around the male's mouth.
The blond complied with her request and took the utensil in a bite before beginning to savour the one small chunk of food. The girl satisfyingly gave a relieved exhale while Giovanni silently watched from the side, fidgeting with unnerving vexation while the new pair interacted.
"Did you like it?" Questioning the boy's opinion, she gave him a hopeful stare.
Seok entered deep thoughtfulness before petting the purring cat that was sleeping in his arms. "Do you like it?" He quizzed back, catching the girl by surprise.
"Oh, well, yes-"
"Then I like it." He simply cut in, hoping to gain some sort of merit for matching his taste with the female. (Y/n) snickered at his unusual approach before shrugging her shoulders.
"Why are you always backwards with everything...?" She amusingly complained before handing the plate back to its creator. "Thank you for everything Giovanni. I hope we can get everything sorted in time for Mai's birthday." Encouragingly proposing, the boy joyfully smiled at her warm compassion.
"The pleasure is truly mine." He mused back before his grin loosened when he realised his two visitors would be heading in the same direction. "I thought you were leaving." He blurted out, failing to hide the urgency behind separating the two.
"I will, it's just..." (Y/n) worriedly mumbled off in her excuse as she decided to hide details of her sporadic intentions. "I need to sort something out with someone." Giving a plastic smile that filled with heed over her reasoning, the boy bit down on his words that were preparing to spill out.
Giovanni had to abruptly stop himself from protesting as he realised the lack of justification he had over his disapproval. Instead, he restrained his words and gave her an equally valued smile. "Alright, hope to see you soon then." He bid her his wishes before the girl turned around and began pacing up the corridor she had originally appeared from.
Upon leaving the area, Giovanni felt a pair of eyes digging themselves at his direction. Directing his attention towards the alerting distraction, he saw his housemate focusing his blue optics in equivocal doubt. The speculated boy seemed taken aback by the dark mood in the apathetic male, causing him to reveal a soothing smile towards him.
"What's with that look? It seems like you're convicting me or something." He joked off with a chuckle, unsuccessful in brushing him off.
"What are you playing at?" Seok responded, causing the boy to nervously smile at the negative ambiguity of his query.
"W-what do you mean? I'm not up to anything..." He timidly stammered out as he squeezed his entire form inward in submitting defeat.
The blond male wordlessly observed him, speculation his mannerism before stepping way to join the girl. As he strayed away from his introverted housemate, Giovanni slowly eased his tense posture, witnessing the two moving up the corridor before a deep frown was accentuated on his lips.
He looked down at the desert that had been parcelled out between the pair, and found himself getting gripped by a sense of antipathy at the girl's unbiased distinction between the two males. He had intended the food to only be shared with her. All the while making the soft desert, his thoughts only drifted towards his female partner and what her reaction would be towards his gesture. His offering was intended to touch only her lips and please only her senses. 'Nuisance...' He bitterly recited in his head before frustratingly sighing.
(Y/n) stopped herself in front of a room where she felt her temper and suspicions rising as she thought over who is inside. "Are you going home?" Seok broke through her track of thoughts, bringing her attention back to her company.
"Yeah, my brother says there's something urgent I need to come back for. But if it's nothing, I'll be back before the end of the day." She lightly detailed to him before grunting in annoyance at the revelation of her lack of productivity. "I didn't even get started on anything today. I'm going to get fired if I keep this up."
"I won't let it happen." A sharp reply was snapped from the male in response to her concern. (Y/n) glanced towards him to look into his unreadable features. Only to see a living flair of urgency and perturbation in his gaze. She couldn't help but scoff at the child-like mentality. "I want you around." The girl smiled at his supportive comment and gratifyingly directed herself at him.
"Thank you Seok, you're really a dependable friend." She then felt a pressure on her head as a hand swayed from side to side on her scalp in a petting motion crossing her had. The male retracted to reveal the surprised girl while he gave her a small, tempted smile.
"I'm glad you depend on me." He gratifyingly stated before turning himself around to approach his room while the sleepy feline in his arms huffed out as a sign of 'good riddance' towards the girl. "Goodbye." He called out to her before closing the door on the female.
(Y/n) stood fazed for a few seconds before finally processing the actions that had led up to that moment. Humorously scoffing to herself, she prepared to proceed on opening the bedroom she had intents on, preparing for any arrangements within. Right until she noticed the presence of another.
The worker turned towards the figure standing a small distance away, revealing their presence only in the most ominous of displays and was surprised at the uncharacteristic shallow expression he exhibited. "Lilito, what's wrong?" Singling out the male, the boy proceeded to move towards her with dragging and disgruntled strides. Blankly staring at each of his movements, the female reflexively retracted once the bitter paces reached her vicinity.
Before she could distance at a more contented proximity, her shoulder was grasped onto as the boy bore his gaze down on her with a nettled expression to give away his vexation with her. The girl was stunted by the behaviour and prepared to break away from his abrupt hold, only to freeze herself as she felt the top of her head getting violently scrubbed and rubbed by the male's other hand, causing bothersome friction to brush against her scalp.
"What are you doing?" She vexingly complained as she tried to wriggle out of the boy's hold, only to remained pinned in his grip as he ran his arm across the pique of her skull, attempting to rid a pestilence that lingered on her. As she winced and grunted at the uncomfortable dragging sensation, she shook him in an attempt to bring him to his senses. "Lilito, stop that!"
The male in question slowly paused before suspiciously assessing her state in calculative evaluation, right before he grinned in satisfaction with his usual charisma. "There. All done." He commended before patting her shoulder to finalise his work. She confusingly glared at him before beginning to pat down her puffed locks.
"You messed up my hair, what was that all about?" She aggravatingly questioned, sleeking back the released strands while soothing her bruised scalp. The female then looked down to notice a small object playing in her assailant's hands, causing her to avert her attention on the item in his hold. "What did you do now?" She exasperated, staring down at the dark haired male's antics.
Lilito looked towards the designated egg sitting in his palm that had gained black strikes of colouring atop its pique, with a few marker scribbles falling to the slanted side in one designated direction. "Oh, you're asking about the emo swoop? Ugh, don't even get me started. Junior is going through this obnoxious phase and keeps claiming that 'I just don't get him' and 'We all live to die.'" Lilito air-quoted the insentient food in a mocking manner before huffing his annoyance at the situation. "Honestly, don't know what's gotten into him. He's been a pain in the a** but kids are kids." He finally gave an optimistic smile and chuckle before situating his simper on the female. "So, what is my newbie up to?" He quizzed her, earning a dismissive shrug from the busy girl.
"I'm going home soon-"
"What?" She hadn't given the slightest inclination of ending her speech before she was cut off by the distressed question. "Why? You just arrived!" He refuted urgently, aiming to oppose her purposed intents.
"Something urgent has come up at home, I need to go." She prepared to enter the room which she had intended to visit from her arrival, only to be stopped as a larger body came in her way.
"No." Was the boy's simple response, repeating in synch with the female's own movements as she tried to manoeuvre around his body.
"Excuse me?" She interrogated, standing straight up to confront and oppose his claim. Lilito proceeded to shake his head in refusal before giving her a challenging smirk.
"Nope. I'm not letting you go." He claimed as he mimicked her stoic posture. The girl stood unmoving for a few moments, calculating the correct timing in her behaviour, right before darting over to the boy's side. However, the speedy guard foiled her attempts and pushed in the way of her quick movements. "Nope, nope! You can't go anywhere. At least, not without something in return." (Y/n) saw the sly and coy smirk forming on his face, causing her to furrow her brow in response to the mischief that glimmered in him.
"What would that be?" She suspiciously inquired, earning a giddy chuckle from the excited boy.
"A kiss." He simply answered, making his company glare at the ultimatum before shaking her head.
"You're really aiming for another galaxy with this..." The worker condemned his circumstances, offering only challenging scowls to the gratuitous exchange.
"I'm not letting you progress until I get my goodbye kiss." Lilito stated, bolting his position on the ground, in her way while the female stared at him in disbelief. She quickly switched around him, trying to find a weak point that would eventually give her an opening to pass. However, the boy's swift and reflective movements matched her speed and deflect her labour. "Nope, nope. I want a smooch."
(Y/n) grunted in frustration before growling under her breath. She fumed at the stubborn boy, crossing her arms to think over the tight nit situation and sigh at her choices. "One kiss?" She slowly recited, questioning on any ulterior circumstances that could be looming over the proposal.
"Yes!" He practically jumped, realising her surrender and prepare himself for the gained reward. He bunched up his wide smile to lightly purse lips and lean down to present the offered kiss towards the female. As he waited for the pressure on his lips to appear, the male's senses heightened and buzzed with energy, anticipating the execution of the process, only to be never granted the satisfaction. Instead, he watched as the worker took his hand in her own and bowed down to place a peck on the top, leaving him stricken in confusion by her actions. "Huh...? What...?" He mumbled while the girl scoffed at his loss of control over the situation.
The (h/c) haired female allowed his hand to slide out of her grip before raising her eyebrow at the lost boy, in a challenging manner. "You didn't say where." She debunked him, stating her reasoning before striding past the defeated male.
"Aww, you cheat!" He bitterly declared, feeling a darkening cloud cloak his mind while the girl had to suppress a humoured smile at his sour mood.
"Have a good day, Lily-boy."
Lilito trembled in the peeving shift of control before huffing out his frustration as the girl proceeded to approach the door she had intended on opening. "Fine! Me and LJ will leave. I anyways have to go put him somewhere gloomy so he can contemplate the fragility of life." Lilito snapped back like a cross child, proudly holding up the egg in his palm.
"He's an egg. Of course he would think life is fragile." The girl amusingly responded, earning a reciprocating chuckle from her company.
"Haha, I'll write that one down." Once the girl had entered the room, this left the boy in the privacy that allowed his smile to fade and his perception to dim. He couldn't help but accept her response to leave him yearning for more and greatly teased by her avoidance.
The thoughtful male was then struck by a consideration as he looked over towards the area on his hand that had been planted by the girl's lips. The sensation of her tender touch still lingered on his flesh and he could yet feel the soothing and refined tingles. Lilito glanced about himself to confirm that he had been set on his lonesome that would allow him the privacy on acting upon his urges.
Elevating his hand up towards his face, his own lips met with the stamped embedding of the girl's own. Pressing against the spot of her contribution, a euphoric stream of energy coursed through him before he parted with his flesh, revealing the small red mark that had been imprinted by his excited kiss. He licked his lips in consideration before a bitter smirk appeared on his expression. 'You'll regret that.'
(Y/n) closed the door behind her, careful not to trudge on the piles of items that still scattered over the majority of the floor. The female took in a deep breath of air before exhaling through her mouth, trying to calm the trepidation in her frightened heart. 'Calm down, (Y/n). Just speak with him and ask him about everything that's been going on. Make it quick and painless.' She tried to urge herself into creating and growing her courage before fully turning around to take in her entire environment. She spotted the male in question distracting himself away from her view, silently jumbling his hands with something she couldn't register. The girl prepared to open her mouth to call out for him, only to retract back to slightly cower at her approach. After repeating a few inhales and exhales, she forced on a grin on her features to greet the boy. "Hey, Gennai. Can I speak with you for a second?"
The male glanced back at the favourable voice to enthusiastically smile at his visitor. "(Y/n)! Are you here to spend time with me?" He excitedly turned around to welcome the female and present his undivided attention to her.
"Uhm, no. Actually, I'll be leaving soon since something has come up at home. But I just wanted to discuss something with you." Gennai seemed intrigued over her visit before edging closer towards the approaching female who stopped once she had come to a reasonable -and safe enough- vicinity. "Giovanni has been getting targeted with threats and harassment lately. And I just wanted to ask if you know something about it." Gennai's eyes switched off their glimmering spark and his expression slowly altered to sink in a more stoic visage which remained unreadable by the basic eye.
He proceeded to direct his attention downwards where he started playing with some innocuous and random object on the floor, using it to decrease the strain on his conscience. "I don't know...didn't know there was even an issue."
"Really?" She dubiously questioned, surveying him with suspicion. She eventually breathed out her impatience once she realised the male would not give her a verbal response and asserted her scepticism. "Listen, I'll just come out and say it since I don't want to be dancing around my main concern. Do you have something to do with this?" Gennai paused his fidgeting motions to process the accusation before looking up at the girl with a neutralistic expression. The female was left staring and failing to interpret his thoughts through his unreadable face.
"No. I don't know anything about this." He calmly stated, addressing her apprehension with little convicting evidence.
(Y/n) hesitated on speaking for a moment, feeling her instincts failing her before voicing out her distrust towards his words. "Gennai, this has your antics written all over it. I'm highly suspicious that -for whatever reason you're doing this- you're the culprit." The male slightly arched his eyebrows in to display his irked attitude, though still maintaining a tamed approach to the denouncing charge.
"I told you I don't know. I have nothing to do with this." The dark haired boy repeated, holding a defensive air between him and the girl, as though a wall had been created to stand as a shield.
(Y/n) huffed before slightly raising her tone to gain a response from the defensive male and break through his barrier."Gennai, please tell me if you're lying. This is serious, I don't want Giovanni to keep getting hurt for some petty reason."
"Why do you care for him...?" He glumly questioned, unable to comprehend where her fondness towards the endangered boy had originated from. He briskly reverted back to his apathetic state where he mirrored his previous responses without a missing beat, a genuineness lining his oblivious knowledge. "I have nothing to say. I didn't do anything to him."
"Gennai." (Y/n) prepared to pry on when she realised her attempts would be futile. She could automatically replay each one of their responses to one another and failed to find an incentive to proceed further. She patiently simmered herself down before regarding him once more in a level tone. "I'll believe you this time because I'm not 100% sure of my suspicion. But please watch what you're doing from now on. If this keeps continuing, I will actively do something about it."
"I didn't do it..." He sulked, exhibiting an emotional response for that time around before bowing his head down in disappointment.
She waited a few moments in the accumulating silence while the air around them became heavy with tension and conflict. Once the female realised the dead end that had occurred between their untouched waters, she exhausted her options and finalised her leave. "I need to go now. Please stay out of trouble, ok?" As she prepared to leave the male, Gennai quickly stretched out his arms at her, portraying them like open doors. Her (e/c) eyes stared at the action as she noticed he seemed to be waiting for her response in regards to his behaviour. "Huh? What is it?"
"I want you to hug me." He requested, edging closer to the surprised girl.
"Excuse me?" (Y/n) replied, baffled at his request while he pitifully stared at her with urgency and clamant.
"I don't want you to leave like that. I don't want you to be angry when you leave me." He continued reached out to her with saddened, wide pupils, staring up at her in a pleading manner. "Please."
(Y/n) watched him in uncertain contemplation, wondering over whether to comply or deny. "Alright then..." She uncertainly said, bowing down to allow the boy to wrap his arms around her while she performed the same action. The two stood in their embraced world for unregistered moments, only attempting to be torn apart when the girl tried to separate from the boy. He reluctantly allowed her the convenience of escape and refused to part his arms to allow her to retreat. "Gennai, let go." After her command, the boy slowly, hesitantly and unwillingly released her from his grasps before smiling up at her with a joyful grin. "See you tomorrow. Or maybe later, who knows." She told him, earning an understanding nod from the attentive male before she approached the exit to his quarters. After bidding their goodbyes, the girl departed from the environment to leave the boy in his own space where he began calculating the situation that had played out.
(Y/n) sighed upon closing the door, beginning to unconditionally stare at the frame before pressing her forehead against the structure for a moment of clarity. Thinking over her approach to the situation, she began wondering about any regrets that she had over her take on their confrontation. Once the girl had processed the interactions, she peeled herself off the door to go and face the corridor that would lead her to eventually exiting the building.
Upon rotating around, she found her path obstructed as a form stood in her way a few paces onward. She stared at the male who seemed to be uncomfortably forcing himself to look at her straight in the eyes while his entire form twitched with uncertainty and awkwardness. "Oh, Akai. Is everything alright-?"
"H-hey babe..." The crimson haired male stammered out in unwilling recitation. Akai felt the flood of embarrassment and shame that came with his confrontation, causing his tongue to tense at the unspoken before words. As he tried to recollect himself, he realised his mind had become blank, being reflected by his voiceless attempts at annunciation. "Uhm...f**k." He turned his humiliated gaze away as he tried to recall to himself the situation he had seen executed numerous times before, as a third party spectator. "How did that little s**t say it again...?" He snapped and mumbled to himself before labouring to turn his sights on the confused girl. Akai then proceeded to take a deep gulp of air, filling his lungs until his chest was ready to explode before swiftly directing his index finger on the girl in a commanding fashion. "You. Me. Monday. Your faith is..." As his declaration began strong and powerful, it slowly lost energy with each spoken syllable before becoming completely inaudible near the final word. "Sealed..."
"I see..." Was the girl's final response with bafflement to his mumble before his entire body slouched in defeat over his hard exterior.
"...That's it. F**k off." He snapped turning away to divert his humiliated focus on retrieving a box of juice from his pocket.
(Y/n) was left gaping at his mood changes and wondered what had caused the swings of his emotions. "Pardon?"
"No. Just f**k off. Keep moving." Stating his urge to end their uncomfortable exchange, he clumsily fiddled with the straw in his hand until finally punching it through the box. "How does that d**khead do this on a daily basis...?" Muttering aggravatingly to himself, he tried to ignore the girl that was cautiously passing him by as she walked on with her own path.
"Akai." The boy in question perked at the sound of his name being uttered in a gentle manner, leading him to reluctantly glance towards the girl who was watching him with a concerned look on her features. "Go easy on the juice." She heeded before turning back around to continue on her own way.
After the female had completely departed from the area, the boy rubbed his head to rid the scenario he forced on himself as he wanted nothing more than to erase the events of their meeting and his desperate attempt at swaying her. "F**k my life..." He scolded himself, trying to control and simmer down his temper at his sporadic response. 'What the hell was I thinking...? What came over me back there?' He complained, wondering over the reasoning of his body fixing him to the spot once he had spotted the girl, right before urging him to confront her on the question that had been haunting him for a while.
"You seem fond of her." Akai's muscles froze as he felt a deep, chilling voice slither inside his auditory range, causing his entire form to ring with alertness as the unfamiliar sound filled the silent void.
Akai glanced back to see the owner of the hostile and cold vocals, facing the boy that had regarded him in the murky, empty tone. "Haha...w-what the f**k? Did you just go through puberty twerp? I barely recognised you." The fiery eyed male uncomfortably chuckled, remaining uncharacteristically on guard while facing the golden eyed newcomer.
"You should really watch your back." Gennai declared with a covert smirk before reentering his quarters to leave the male on his lonesome.
Akai assessed the boy's monitory words, creating interpretations in his mind before his eyes narrowed in consideration. 'Why did that feel like more like a threat than a warning?'
(Y/n) stepped outside the gate, shuffling her body in frustration as she felt the wave of shame and guilt that came with explaining herself to her superior and her position to leave work early. During the discussion, she didn't dare look him straight in the eyes, feeling unjustified and unproductive for someone who had come in only to leave without performing any extensive tasks. 'And the face he gave me in the end...I don't know if it was out of sympathy or inconvenience. God, I need to pull myself together.'
"Are you going home?" The female lifted her muddled face away from her hands to gaze towards a pleasantly smiling individual that stood at the threshold of the gate, only lingering around to stay in her presence. The girl immediately felt a relief at the friendly voice before directing him with an annoyed expression that tried to be masked by optimism.
"Yeah, Something came up." She briefly told him. Eban chuckled before looking towards the bus stop that resided a few feet away.
"Well, I hope that it's not something serious. Hope you come back soon" His comforting grin gave the female a soothing reaction as she felt his friendly aura translating onto her.
"Thank you. Hey, I might see you later and, if not, tomorrow." She declared, aiming to lighten his perspective on her leave.
Eban lightly gave a small scoff before his lips upturned in a hopeful smile. "Promise you'll come back?" Placing the girl's words on a pedestal, (Y/n) laughed him off at his paranoid outlook on her dispensation.
"Of course. I promise." She confidently announced with assurance before parting with the boy, once she saw her bus making its way from the distance.
Eban watched her load onto the public vehicle before being driven away, his kindly, gentle smile slowly sinking until it transformed into a frown that directed itself towards the female's disappearing company. His eyes darkly stared at the road ahead, as though condemning the individual that was departing from the area, never to return. "Liar."
(Y/n) annoyingly stormed up towards her house, infuriatingly digging into her bag, scratching herself in the process as she grabbed her keys to shove the corresponding one into the lock. The girl felt aggravated at the humiliation she had to endure for the call home, and had high doubts her visit was necessary for the emergency she was sure was exaggerated.
As she pushed the door with a loud huff and grunt, the girl managed to only make it one step in before a loud, authoritarian and familiar female voice rang at her like a deprecative superior. "Welcome home, Miss (L/n)!" The girl jumped slightly as her wide eyes stared into the enraged features of an all too recognisable woman. "How was work today?!" The older female snapped and shouted, filled with noxious sarcasm that convicted the girl's actions.
