Chapter 23: Real Life Fairy Tales

(Y/n) warily approached the room that held the hostile sounds, stopping herself just in time to avoid a flying chair that subsequently connect with the bruised wall, before crumbling to the ground to join the rest of its fallen colleagues. She gulped slightly at the indicative danger zone she was trudging in before she heard the sound of a relieved exhale followed by a dismissive laugh coming from beyond the room.

"Haha, found you." Deep, satisfied vocals rang through, calming down the rest of the atmosphere as the aggression dissolved into the serene air. The girl edged closer towards the doorway where she peeked through the open entrance to see the male contently poking a hole through his juice to drink before sensing the female's lingering presence. He sent a glance her way to see an annoyed scowl lining her features. "Did you need something?"

He stared at the girl who hesitantly entered his area to walk by numerous shattered objects before stopping in front of him. "Do you do this on purpose?" She questioned the confused boy who regarded her with an addlepated stare. "You do know I'm the one cleaning everything that you destroy, right?" The boy granted her frustrated form a disregarding shrug, shifting the fault away form himself.

"I don't think when I do this stuff. It's your job anyway, so it's something you have to suck up and deal with." He complained back, turning away from the female to lose interest in her presence as he calmly sipped his drink. (Y/n) sharpened her glare, withholding an impatience in her focused pupils before sighing out her exasperation.

"I'd appreciate it if you held your temper and at least made an effort to make my job easier. You shouldn't be this violent in the first place." The girl carefully remarked, concerning herself over the danger the male is to others and himself. Akai scoffed of her solicitude as he walked past her, sending small shivers down the girl's spine and arms as her senses spiked at the plucking unnerved ambience that radiated through the boy's pores. She lightly jittered at the adversarial shell he had created over himself before he left the room.

(Y/n) gazed around at the mess that mostly consisted of the thrown furniture outside his quarters and felt her motivation plummeting with each second that her eyes glossed over the chaos before her ears picked up on an aggravated growl. Approaching the doorway where the resident of the room had exited, she noticed the crimson eyed male glaring down the hall where a clear target had been sighted. The female hadn't needed to extend her patience before she heard a playful voice teasing the irascible teenager.

"Aki~! My favourite boy! Are you still angry about what happened this morning?" Lilito's cooing vocals resonated through the corridor, reaching his aggressor's ears to begin sparking passionate fuel in his brain as a low, challenging exhale erupted past his lips. The dark haired male chuckled in response, tittering like an excited child. "I couldn't help it. You looked so cute while you slept~"

The agitated boy in question revealed his true perception of his mischievous neighbour's antics as he hurled a vase topped with fake flowers towards the frisky male. Lilito hopped back a few paces to prolong the proximity between him and his assailant before chuckling at the acquired reaction.

The girl could hear his brisk and pattering steps tapping away from the scene as Akai was trying to regain control over his trembling body to boost him after his escaping victim. "I'll f**k you up, you little s**t!" As he prepared to launch after the boy, his path became obstructed as another body skidded in front of him.

"I beg to differ!" (Y/n) shouted, holding her ground as she weighed out her regrets of interfering or cleaning after his rampage. Akai stared down the girl with boiling malice lining his bloody stare as he pierced her own gaze with his scowl. The male's bulging muscles and tensed up form closed in on the female as he gave her a furious command.

"Get out of my way, b***h!" His choleric hiss raptured through the air as he aggressively indicated for the girl to clear his path, only to be denied the convenience, tipping him further over the edge. "I said move-OW!" As he prepared to repeat his bellow, the boy was sedated as his body arched forward the moment he felt two fingers pinching the soft flesh of his ear, callously pulling the skin to assert dominance.

"Will you stop having a temper tantrum like a bratty toddler and treat me like a human being!" She forcefully tugged at the tranquillised boy's ear a few more time, earning irritated growls from him.

"Ow! F**k, let go!" He demanded, taken off guard by the new attack while the female angrily led him back to his room. "I'm calm! I'm f**king calm, now let go!" He demanded, trying to grasp onto the girl who had restricted his position.

The female proceeded to swiftly allow the male his freedom, giving him the chance to rub his sore ear before the girl demandingly pointed to the floor in an expectant manner. "Get down and do some push-ups!" She commanded, earning a state from the boy which served to mock whether she was serious or not.

"The f**k? What are you talking about?" He annoyingly questioned, hoping to ignore her authoritative request.

"It's going to let you blow some steam off and physically tire you instead of all the smashing you'll do in your rage." Remarking on the male's predictable behaviour, the girl proceeded to point back to the ground, expecting him to comply with her demands. The male simply scoffed her attempts off as he prepared to leave the room in search for his aggravator, right before he was pulled back once against by the lobe of his ear, with the girl's nails digging themselves into his skin to further her merciless mood. "I'm not letting you go out in that state and making my job hell. Now lay down!"

Dragging the boy to the floor with struggling motions, she finally managed to level the male to the ground, encouraging him to press up to the surface. "Will you f**k off already! I'm not your damn marionette!" The female ignored his aggressive wailing and growling that protested against her ultimatum.

"I'll let you go as soon as you start following my advice and do as I tell you. Now start doing press ups!" The boy hesitated for a long while, demurring against her requests. He stood in the restricted position for a number of moments, grunting in irritation before propping himself up on the palms of his hands and toes of his feet as he began pumping up and down, still held captive by his ear.

"Happy?!" He grizzled, displaying proper push ups and effortless physical skill that seemed to come naturally out of the pent up energy he held in his temper. The girl watched the male who attempted to satisfy her commands before transitioning to the next phase.

"Alright, now give me a level for how angry you are." The male paused in his physical activity to look at the girl with a bemused scowl that presented his wonder over her sanity.

"The s**t is this?! Why?!"

(Y/n) squeezed his ear to regain back her authority as a semi-coach. "It's part of a whole process of gaining control. Now give me a level for your anger." The male vocalised his abrasive opinion over her methods.

"I don't give a s**t!"

"Well I do! Now gave me a number." She demanded, unwavering with her command as she fiddled with the lobe of his auditory flesh.

"How high can I go?" He begrudgingly questioned, settling his nerves between clenched teeth.

The female shrugged her shoulders to dismiss any specificity behind the criteria. "Doesn't matter, go as high as you want, it just needs to feel right."

"F**king 200 then."

She nodded to his cooperation before guiding him through the process. "Alright, now start counting down from that number while you do the press ups. You don't have to go in numeric order, you can skip a few numbers as you go down but the whole point is to get that level down to 0. Now start counting: 200, 196, 191..." She started him off, progressing down through the digits along his side as she slowly began loosening her hold on his bruised ear. Letting the male go completely, Akai continued counting down on his own with the small numbers he was left with, right before reaching the neutral index.

"Are we done yet, I think I got it?" He impatiently questioned, beginning to slow down with his movements until coming to a stop as the girl nodded her head to confirm his request. Sitting himself down, the male stretched his arms and legs to loosen the tightness in his muscles as the female curiously watched his settled form simmering down.

"How are you feeling?" She quizzed, catching the boy's attention as he looked around himself to gather his thoughts and avoid her confirming gaze.

"Annoyed...and thirsty, where's my juice?" He hassled, speculating around before finding the half empty carton fallen a few paces away.

"But you're not as angry as before, right?" The female reminded, seeming to analyse the boy as he shuffled over to pick up the box. Akai glanced back towards the female to see a self-content smile on her face while he tried to avoid her calculative sights.

"This whole thing was pointless." He deprecated and dismissed as he took a suck from the straw to quench his dehydration. (Y/n) sighed at his obdurate manner before standing herself up to fully regard the ignorant boy.

"Listen, if you want to make it easy on yourself to control your temper, the first step is to realise that you're getting hyped up and do something about it before you lose composure." Her bitter statement sat between the pair as Akai processed her input as a suggestion before turning away in a disinterested display, debasing her information.

"Who says I have a problem with how I act?" The inquiring statement held a layer of sourness and unwanted realisation as he automatically defended his actions. The girl released a deep sigh at his denial and turned towards the broken furniture to assess the damages that she would have to throw away.

"I'm just giving you advice, it's your choice whether you want to take it or not." She mumbled, beginning to gather the broken chairs and fractured tables in a single group where she pulled out a plastic bag from her sack and began piling the debris inside.

The boy watched the girl working over his mess, his solid shell dissolving slightly while he speculated over her motivation on finishing her work. He continued fluctuating his focus from the female and away, internally conflicting with himself between his pride and guilt.

(Y/n) placed each smashed piece of wood and detritus into the black plastic. Amidst her concentrating task, the female's vision becomes slightly impaired as a cube object came into sight. The girl reached out to reflexively take the item in hand and discover it to be a fresh carton of juice, waiting to be opened and sipped. She looks up towards the hand that had handed her the drink to see the male's neutral features looking down at her before glancing away to avoid sentimentality.

"Sorry." His apology came out in a levelled and sincere tone that seemed to hold back on tenderness, before he turned around to leave the girl in peace of doing her work.

The girl looked at the box of juice with consideration as a small grin appeared on her face at the implication of the gift. She looked towards the empty doorway from where the male had made his exit, placing the juice in her bag to safely store it away. 'He's a weird guy.'

(Y/n) placed an empty laundry basket beside the washing machine before turning the mechanics on to hear the rushing of water in the cyclone. She assessed all the gathered baskets she managed to accumulate before noticing a missing one out of the 6 she already collected.

'I think I'm missing someone...'  She checked off the male's in her head with their corresponding collections before stopping at a certain individual. 'I think I forgot Seok...huh?' The girl swiftly turned her head towards the entrance of the laundry room to see a figure hovering at the doorway before bolting out of sight once the female's eyes crossed him. 'Huh...was that Gennai?' She quickly paced towards the opening to look past the room into the corridor at the empty surroundings. She twisted her gaze in every which direction before confirming her lonesome state. "Gennai? Are you there?" She called out into the nothingness, only to be responded with her own echo.

The female glanced around, confirming to have been left on her own, driving her to simply dismiss the moment. She exited the room under the solemn expectation to clear away one of her duties for good. However, her journey was cut to a halt as her nostrils became invaded with a familiar and repulsive stench.

Tracking down the origin of the oder, the female was stilted to a frozen halt as she came face to face with an aquatinted door. 'Oh no! Don't tell me-!' She quickly rushed towards the storage closet where the noxious perfume emanated from and began cursing and scolding herself for her neglect. 'How can I forget about the bird?! Why am I such an idiot?!' She negatively recited before quickly opening the room to inspect its state.

As she flung the door open the girl took a single step into the darkness to set her gaze on the shelf that held the makeshift casket, before she was greeted with small, glowing eyes that glassily reflected the new income of light. (Y/n) stumbled back, staggering and wobbling as the miniature creature darted down from the shelf before stopping just outside the room to send the female a quick glance.

The girl stared at the pure, sapphire pools with a thin, vertical slit of the pupil directing its focus on her. The creature's luxurious, tufts of white fur capturing the vibrant sun light as each strand stood on end to instinctively create the illusion of volume in hopes of intimidating the girl. "A cat? How did you get in here?" The female stammered, trying to regain her balance after the off-guarded surprise, forcing the feline to spring away from the area in order to escape its dazed pursuer. "Hey, what are you doing?! Get out!" She shouted towards the intruder, afraid the animal would knock over any precious or fragile objects that would load up her work.

She chased the white streak all the way to the central passage where the creature quickly bolted upwards towards the second floor of the building. (Y/n) persistently tailed the escaping creature, hoping to guide it out before any of her superiors could notice. As she rushed past rooms and through the long corridor, her feet twisted her form around the corner that she spotted a shadow disappearing past.

As she stopped for a single moment to regain her breath, she spotted the frosty feline gaze back at her with, what the girl could only interpret as, taunting snark. Glaring at the ridiculing animal, the cat quickly dove inside one of the open doors into a room before the girl had a chance to even recover. Following the frolicsome creature towards the entrance, entering the quarters without concern over the resider inside.

(Y/n) came to an abrupt, wincing stop as she watched the cat pounce on the bed where it confidently strutted towards the individual laying in it. The girl shook her head in protest as she tried approaching the creature in the most silent way possible so as to not stir the person that still slumbered, intending to grab the feline before it could cause a disturbance. To her intensive horror, her movements were far too slow as the creature made its move.

The cat lightly sniffed the sleeping boy's face before pushing its forehead against the male's, rubbing against him in affectionate prying as the sleeper began shuffling into consciousness. Seok opened his heavy lids to see the soft, white coat caressing his skin, seeking for his attention. Propping himself up in a slouching position, he rubbed his tired eyes before looking down at the animal that proceeded to tuck itself in his lap. "Montique?" He mumbled subconsciously, catching the frozen female off guard.

"Huh? Do you know him?" She questioned, catching the boy's attention as he looked over at her with a laboured stare. The pair locked eyes for a maximised number of moments before the boy questioned her with a familiar enquiry.

"Are you here to rob me...?" He apathetically asked, scratching his head before stretching his stiff neck.

"Uhm...yes?" (Y/n) uncertainly answered, wondering if her interchanged response would bring about a different ending. Seok simply watched her for a large second before laying himself back down in bed to continue his previous task.

"Do it quietly then." He requested, earning a disgruntled scowl from the girl at his nonchalant command. Sighing to herself, the girl approached the male where he lay. As she closed in on the boy, she received a dissatisfied, inward growl from his cat as she watched each one of its hairs standing on end for her. The girl tried to avoid the feral feline to the highest degree before lightly shaking the dozing boy.

"Seok? Is the cat yours?" She quizzed, looking back at the creature who held its oblong pupils glaring right into her. The female never expected to be intimidated by a cat, however, she would be fabricating her honour if she didn't admit the creature to hold a high level of intimidating hostility to an outsider like her.

The boy peeked through his eyelids to regard the girl's inquiry. "Montique? Yes..." The female smiled her understanding before glancing back at the cat who hadn't taken his eyes off her form.

The girl tried to put on a harmless display as she avoided eye contact with he creature to show her clean intentions of not challenging him as she slowly extended her arm to pet him. "Hello Montique-" (Y/n) was forced to swiftly pull back as the creature made an attempt at swiping her with its sharp claws. "Ok, I guess not..." The girl bitterly said, trying to ignore the warning that came through throaty growls from the animal. She looked back at the boy who stared at her with a blank look, seeming to wonder what she was still doing in his quarters.

"Do you need something...?" He hushed out, trying to regain a more comfortable position for sleep. The girl looked towards the basket that lay at his bedside before indicating towards it in a confirming manner. "Then take it and leave." He told her in a monotone voice, trying to regain a proper sleeping state.

The female leaned down to prepare and pick up the basket before her hands stopped in mid air as a concern flowed past her thoughts. Looking towards the resting boy, she curiously referred to him with an enquiry. "Have you eaten anything today?"

There was a long pause that came from the male's slow registration to her words before he mumbled his response. "Can't remember..." The girl watched him for any further establishment in his explanation, only to result in deep, calming breaths as he began entering unconsciousness. She sighed to herself before getting up form the bed and exiting the room, taking the laundry with her.

Seok peeked one eye open to witness her leaving form, watching her depart form the room and leaving him to his lonesome. As her presence disappeared, he was left to only listen to his pet purring beside him. He searched through his mind his location in the empty room, passing through the lifeless furniture and still air, bypassing himself on the way before realising his emerging thoughts and shadows beginning to engulf him as everything began enveloping in darkness as he closed his eyes. He felt the semblance of his existence dissolving in his blank mind, leaving only his subconsciousness running.

Light penetrated his eyes as they automatically opened upon the distinctive sound of surface clattering on top of another surface, getting him to raise his lids and to see a blurry figure reaching out towards him. Before the male could register the intentions of his visitor, he jolted up as his cheek was pressed with a chillingly cold item, nipping his skin into awakening. His bolt up position allowed him to see what the surprising disturbance was as his face came into the vicinity of a water bottle. Looking past the piece of plastic, he noticed the female passing him the item with a dissatisfied visage.

Taking the bottle with confused hesitance, the male glanced towards the top of his table, catching a glimpse of the plate of pasta, topped with sauce and herbs for an appetising display. As the girl took the plate from its resting position, she handed the male utensils with which he could use to intake the offered food.

Seok looked down at the platter of warm, fresh food the girl had taken from the kitchen before looking back up at her. "I don't like pasta..." He told her in a declining manner, losing his urge to nourish himself at the distaste for the food. (Y/n)'s eyebrows arched in a scowl at the dejecting response before sternly laying the plate on his lap.

"Like it or not you have to eat something. I don't even know how you survived until now." She complained, scolding him with her tone and jabbing him with her words. The male looked at the plate that seemed insufficient to his liking before glancing towards the stomping girl as she marched around, wiping down the dust-covered surface of his furniture, figuring to herself that his main item of interest was irrefutably his bed.

As she worked around his room, looking for more excuses to stay and monitor his physical state, she periodically glanced at the male to see minimal to no progress with his food as he simply stared at it in consideration before distracting himself with the affectionate cat beside him. (Y/n) commented in her head a few times before proceeding to enter his bathroom in search of piling on the workload.

Checking over the exterior of the surroundings, she noticed nothing requiring her attention, until her eyes drifted up towards the sink where she noticed black material draping down from an attachment on the wall. Looking towards the silhouette of the item, the female recognised it to be the mirror she had kept unveiling the last few times. The girl scrunched up her features in confusion before taking the black covering down to reveal the regular looking item underneath.

Entering back into the room, the female held her gaze directed towards the bathroom where her wonder still lingered. "Seok, why is your mirror always-What are you doing?!" The girl screamed, looking at the male trying to balance balled up strings of spaghetti on top of the content cat's head, as she turned to face him. The girl unnervingly ran up to the pair as she searched for correct words of coaxing. "S-Seok, I don't think that's a good idea. You're supposed to eat it, not play with it." She told the boy, who seemed to preoccupy himself with the challenge.

"He doesn't mind." He told the girl, making her slump in defeat at his dismissive attitude. The female sighed before looking towards the cat who patiently allowed the male to busy himself with the activity. Watching his casual outlook on the behaviour, the girl's eyes strayed away to look around the room that she had thoroughly cleaned, seeming to not find any necessity for her presence.

Preparing to finally take her leave, the girl caught sight of something she had missed out. Approaching his night stand, she took in the sight of an open book laying face down on the surface. She curiously tilted her head at the blank and plain cover, deciphering it to be something else from a publication. Hesitating on her intrusion, the female took the book by its centre to turn it over to reveal its contents.

As she rotated it towards herself, the worker remained pleasantly surprised to see a well-organised sketch of the feline that had grown weary of her. She analysed the decently done picture and wondered on the possibility of its owner. Looking back at the boy who was still styling the topping on his cat's head, she lifted the book into view. "Seok, did you draw this?" She questioned him, earning his attention.

"Please leave that alone." He lullingly told her, bringing her hopes down with his tone.

"Oh, is it private?"

"Yes." His blatant replay urged the girl to awkwardly place it back on the night stand before turning back towards him.

"Are you still not going to eat it?" The male refutably shook his head from side to side as he began cleaning his pet's head with a wet cloth. The girl thoughtfully assessed the situation before an idea appeared in her head. Seok glanced towards the door where he watched the female exiting his room. Figuring her leave to be permanent, he concentrated back on the comforting animal at his side as it stretched against him where it purred for his presence.

After a long while of silent nothingness, Seok prepared to lay back down in his bed had his door not opened up to reveal the returned girl. He confusingly watched as she approached him with a new plate in hand, taking a seat on the bed where she placed the plate on her knees, revealing the fresh backed eggs that situated in it. The girl dismally looked at the plateful of scrambled eggs before glaring up at the boy in a challenging manner.

"I really dislike eggs...and you really dislike pasta, right?" The boy nodded, unsure where the female was heading with her track of thought. The girl lifted up her own fork before sticking it into her plate. "If I eat some of this, will you also eat some of the spaghetti?" Seok remained bemused by her exchange.

(Y/n) pushed his own plate of disliked food towards him before lifting her fork up to her mouth, cringing slightly at the unwanted smell. The male reluctantly lifted his own fork of what was left over from the pasta before hopefully looking over at the female. "Isn't it more logical to switch plates?"

"There's no building of character then! We need to know that life won't always give us what we want so we just have to learn to suck it up..." As her voice slowly depleted in energy from the sight of the plate, the girl silently sniffled before taking in the fork of eggs. The strong taste nearly caused her to gag as she had to forcefully swallow down the substance with great effort.

Seok unnervingly watched her struggle before solemnly gazing towards his own fork. "You seem disgusted..."

"I am..." She replied, forcing herself to take another forkful with laboured intensity. Seok watched her struggle for a few more mouthfuls before he too took his food in his mouth. The girl looked up at him in depressing expectation. "How is it...?" She questioned, watching his face contort into a disappointed frown.

"Cold and slimy..." He answered, unwillingly taking another slurp of the goods.

"Good, I'm not alone then..." (Y/n) assured.

As the pair continued forcing down spoon after spoon, they stopped once they realised their tortured stomachs might regurgitate what they had constrained themselves on digesting. They left their half empty plates on the table before taking time to cool down from their activity. The girl heavily breathed while the male grunted a few times in display of their discomfort before (Y/n) was the first to pipe up.

"Are you full...?" She questioned, earning a confirming but sad nod from the boy. She sighed out her regret before trailing her eyes towards his desk where she payed closer attention to the books stacked in rows. "Hey, you've got a lot of classical fiction. Do you like 20th century literature?" She inquired, approaching the hard covers of novellas to curiously inspect them.

"I like anything that's fictional and exaggerated." The girl glanced at him before focusing on the books that spoke of far away lands, fantasies and magic with anthropomorphic creatures that weren't quite human nor animal.

She took one of the books in hand to inspect its contents and writing. The publication automatically opened on a specific section where she saw a piece of paper lodged between the pages. Pulling it out to inspect its purpose, she was left staring into the face of a frightening looking monster with defined anatomy and a hostile snarl.

"Did you draw this?" Indicating towards the piece of paper with the quick sketch, the male shrugged in a dismissive manner.

"I used the description the book gave." The girl turned towards the page where she found the paper to see an accurate word depiction of what the drawing displayed. Taking the two back to the male, she placed the paper in front of him with eager excitement.

"Can you do another one? I want to try as well." She handed the story to the lost male as he looked towards her with a baffled expression, searching for indications on his task. "Can you find another monster to draw? I want to compare what our interpretations are." Her hyper antsy state seemed to coax a response from the male, driven by her excited interest. Seok hesitated for a moment. Watching her ardent impatience at his input.

He opened up the book, flicking through the pages with knowing accuracy, seeming to be aware of the chapters that held some of the more detailed specimens. Once he found a paragraph depicting a feral, mythical creature, he handed the book back for the girl's approval. (Y/n) eagerly nodded before looking up at the boy with intensive anxiousness. "Can I have paper? I like this idea of illustrating what's described in a book." The boy halted for a split second to analyse her attitude before reaching around to hand her a blank sheet. "Aren't you going to try and draw it too?"

The girl questioned him, watching him with slight anxiousness at his absent participation. Seok looked away from her eye contact before rejecting the idea. "I don't feel like it, there's no reason to."

"But I want to see it." (Y/n) sounded, catching the male's attention as he watched her inclusive smile direct towards him and the sketch book. "I want to see how your imagination work. It's refreshing to see you doing something else besides sleeping." Seok watched the female for a few moments, gradually becoming enticed by her solicitous offer before reluctantly taking his sketchbook to join her.

(Y/n) satisfyingly grinned before silencing all together while occasionally looking towards the passage that held all the details necessary. The two mutually concentrated, only taking occasional glances towards one another to confirm the other's work while they both focused on preparing the final piece; one, more motivated than the other. Montique quietly watched by his master's side, antagonistically glaring at the girl while she tried to ignore his obvious displeasure towards her company.

The two confirmed to have finished their parts of the drawing, counting down before they both reveal their illustrations to one another. As the girl took one look at the boy's depiction to measure up with her own, she realised the embarrassing hole she dug for herself as the quality between their pieces intensely differed. While the boy's held dark details and embellishing textures and weight to the ferocious monster, leaving a few bits to the imagination of the viewer, the girl could only compare her's as a child's last minute art homework.

All the girl wanted to do was swivel her own drawing around and hide it from view, had it not been too late. Seok started at her piece with neutralistic features before looking up at her with an unreadable expression, giving the girl some form of hope for positive feedback. "That's horrible." (Y/n) felt shot through the chest with his comment as her shame lingered on her exterior. "The shape is really wonky."

The girl scrunched up in a ball of embarrassment as she tried to spare her pride and keep an optimistic outlook. "I mean, it can be good if it's worked on a bit more."

"But this one is bad." Another arrow got her through the chest as she stared at his brutal genuineness.

The girl tried to keep her moral high as she attempted another excuse. "I don't have a lot of practice so of course it's not the best." The boy looked back at the unoriginal design before regarding her in the same, serious tone.

"It lacks imagination and is still bad." (Y/n) could feel her faltering hope descending, leaving a shell of dejection behind.

"Well, I tried my best." She muttered, before the male added his negative input.

"Your best isn't that good." Seok commented, seemingly unaware of the girl's wounded ego.

"It's my own artistic interpretation." She whined out.

Seok looked down at the picture before turning back at its illustrator. "Is the interpretation to draw bad?" (Y/n) slightly crumpled the image before throwing it down on the bed, defeated.

"Is there anything good you can actually say about it?!" She snapped, getting the boy to thoughtfully ponder on a positive input.

"It has artistic integrity." (Y/n) could only stare at him for the longest moment before spitefully growling in frustration.

"That means nothing! Neither of us are getting paid to do this!" Seok looked down at his drawing, not comprehending what made his own work at a higher standard than the female's. He could also point out many imperfections in the style he disliked to draw in and wondered over the girl's reaction towards her inadequacy. 'Well, it's nice to know he's brutally honest...' Before he could fully delve into the track of thought, he heard an amused scoff that differed form the girl's impatient outburst. "Of course that's the fun in it. Just doing something for the hell of it."

Seok found himself clogging up his mind as his brain tried to work around her view. "Doing something without a purpose. What's the point in it?" He muttered, unable to comprehend the meaning in her ideal.

"Well, the real purpose comes from the enjoyment we get in it. That's honestly the purest satisfaction anyone can have." Seok became unmoving, allowing his mind to process her explanation, finding difficulty in empathising with her statement, but progressively opening his mind to the idea. "I want to try again, can you give me some criticism?"

"Don't draw it badly." The boy plainly said, getting the girl to glare at him.

"Something constructive please." The girl seethed through clenched teeth.

"Try to work on the shape." The female proceeded to note the suggestion down before receiving another. "And the shading needs to be guided by a light source." She marked it off in her mind before bitterly looking up at the boy as he continued on the list. "Stick to a simpler design." The female nodded her head, hoping to finalise and halt his outpour of editing. "Think about the drawing before going into it."

"Ok, shush you grasshopper..." She silently remarked, getting the boy to give a muddled stare.

"Grasshopper?" The girl turned towards her company to stare at him in an equally confused state before realising her mistake.

"Oh, sorry. Did I say that out loud?" She expressed her concern over he slip before the male nodded his confirmation.

"What about a grasshopper?" He questioned her, earning an uncomfortable fidget in response.

"Nothing, it's just...you reminded me of a character in a story and it sort of slipped out." Seok curiously watched her for a hopeful continuation of the explanation, his attention perking up at the sound of a story.

"How does the story go?" He asked her, seeming to actively show interest in the mystery behind his label.

The girl took a moment to think over and recollect the tail that she associated him with. "Well...there was once a grasshopper and an ant. The grasshopper liked to spend his days playing and doing anything to his heart's content until one day he saw an ant passing by, carrying an ear of corn. The grasshopper criticised and belittled the ant's toil after the ant rejected his offer to talk in order to stock up on more food. Then, once winter set in, the grasshopper was left in the cold, watching as the ant thrived with the gathered goods and it's warm home. And by the time winter had passed, the grasshopper was nothing more than a memory." As the female ended her telling tone, she saw the male intently watching her with the slightest of interest. "It's quite sad for the little grasshopper, he had his fun times before eventually being failed by his laziness."

"Maybe that's all he knew what to do." (Y/n) blankly watched the male who inputted his comment. His remark came out in a silent assertion as the rest of his expression remained stoic.

"What?"

"Nothing..." The two exchanged quiet company for a few moments as (Y/n) began working on a new drawing while the male remained unusually fidgety before he looked over to the girl. "Do you have any other stories?"

The female looked up at the male who gazed at her with intrigue before looking to the side once he realised his uncharacteristic interest. (Y/n) smiled to herself as she felt her company was holding some weight to the situation. She scrambled through her brain to find a short allegory that would satisfy the boy.

"Have you heard about the crow and the fox?" Seok shook his head in denial before seeming to edge closer in inquisitiveness to her fable. (Y/n) thoughtfully reminded herself of the tail she had heard about, finding each piece to the story. "On a winter day, a hungry fox was searching around for food to survive on. On a path she came across a piece of cheese and as she went over to claim it as her own, a black crow dove in and snatched the cheese before it was taken, and flew on a high branch where the fox could not reach.

As the fox tried to compromise with the stubborn crow, she decided to use her cunningness in order to outwit the bird. She began complimenting him on his beautiful black feathers, to which the crow boastfully began flaunting. She praised him on his graceful flight, to which the crow lifted his head up, high in pride. She mused over his big, dark eyes, and he gushed over his assets.

Then, she started swooning over how she wished to hear his elegant voice and how his strong beak would open to release his song. The crow strutted around his branch, proud and giddy before inhaling a deep breath of air, letting out a loud screech that caused him to let go of the cheese in his mouth. And as the piece fell all the way down, the fox took it before disappearing into the woods, leaving the tricked crow without food for the day." As the girl ended her telling, she carefully analysed the male progressively engrossing himself in the tale, like a child preparing to fall asleep to the dreams of the story. "It's a pretty interesting one, isn't it?" She positively sounded, before her features scrunched up in slight revelation as her mind filtered out a person in association to a character. "Haha, now that I think about it, I was kinda reminded of Padraig a bit. Do you know what I'm comparing him with in the story?"

Seok took a moment to ponder over her mirroring connection, recalling all the events in the fable before coming to a conclusion. "Is he the cheese?"

The girl stared at his final decision, difficultly pondering over how the male's brain processes information and made links. "S-sure..." She reluctantly agreed, amused enough that the boy seemed absorbed in their conversation.

"Do you..." Seok reluctantly voiced out, labouring in questioning the female and requesting further from her. (Y/n) waited for his hesitance to pass before he finally muttered his inquiry. "Do you have any more stories to share?"

(Y/n) locked eyes with the boy who, despite holding back on verbal feedback, inquisitively stared at her. The female took a few seconds to realise he had some eagerness in his speech before positively nodding.

(Y/n) set down the pencil before exhaling a deep sigh. She unwillingly turned her new drawing towards he boy in order to receive input on her new work. While the male assessed her drawing, the girl waited in tense silence, slightly concerned about his opinion on her unsatisfactory sketches.

"It's bad." (Y/n) felt herself getting burned out from the familiar insight, making her completely drop hope for the activity. Her subconscious began falling in a pool of depression and torment, sinking further as the echoes of his honest tone wasted away her energy. "But it's better." A ray of light managed to peek through the murkiness, granting the female a shred of dignity and motivation.

"Do you mean it?!" She exasperated her plea, earning an agreeing nod from the boy. She gratefully smiled with relief and put aside the materials, noticing the male intently staring at her. Watching her in the same way he does when he's too self-conscious to ask her for another allegory. The girl's mind began bugging through his reasoning before finally deciding to voice her question. "Why do you like these stories and fairy tales? You seem really interested in them for someone as serious as yourself."

Seok responded to her with quietness, taking his time to look away before concluding on an appropriate and generalised answer. "It's detached from reality. It's more exaggerated than the real world." The girl was slightly lost at his explanation, not quite foreseeing the unconventional response.

"What's wrong with the real world?" She softly asked, treading so as to not offend the boy.

"It's ugly." The girl stared at him, her eyes fixated as though searching for a shred of sarcasm only to be set aback by his serious expression.

"Why do you say that?" She questioned with a surprised visage, being replied to with a shrug. Her entire body deflated at the downhearted atmosphere that came with his lowered mood.

Her gaze drifted towards the balcony where she watched the lowering sun glistening and gleaming through the branches. She could see there was a small breeze brushing through the twigs and plan life, that could not reach the room that remained closed off to the outside. (Y/n) gave a small and frustrated huff before promptly getting up from her resting position and walking around to approach the boy who confusingly watched her as she drew closer to him.

"Come on." She took the unsuspecting male by the elbow, forcing him to stumble out of bed before dragging him toward the glass doors of the outside area. She ignored the sour look he gave her before opening the doorway up to emerge from the inside.

Stepping onto the tiled ground, she was immediately hit by a fresh gust of air, transporting her into a completely different dimension that contrasted from the closed off space inside. Looking back towards the doors, she saw the boy hesitating at the entrance, keeping himself bolted at the threshold where he watched from within. The girl urgently beaconed him to include himself, making the male slightly tense up at the request. After a few seconds of reluctance, he laboured in stepping towards her where he gave a last glance towards his room before joining he girl.

(Y/n) wordlessly watched as insects drifted past her vision and the sounds of chirps synchronised around the trees to create a natural melody. She looked over at the boy who seemed to keep his interest to the floor, unwilling to look up towards the trees or sky. "I'm not going to lie and tell you everything about the world is beautiful." Seok drifted his gaze towards her to regard her ideal as she kept flicking her eyes around from area to area in the environment. "But it's the one I live in. And I want to make it as beautiful for myself as possible. I'll just keep wishing and working and hope for the best." Seok hovered his sights over the ground before gradually lifting his perception up to meet with the ambience of the nature.

He thoughtfully looked around, feeling he had stepped foot into a world completely different from his own. Into a world he had lost. Into a world he had forgotten about even while growing up in it. Into a world that seemed more like a fairy tale than any fable or folktale. A world he did not belong in.

"So, make a wish." He heard her voice pierce through his thoughts, bringing him back to reality where he set his attention on his visitor. (Y/n) reached out to display in her open palm a sharp and blocky shape, made out of a folded piece of paper, laying neatly as if gliding across her palm like water.

"A paper crane?" He watched in bemused confusion at the origami before gazing towards the nodding female.

"My mum said that if you fold a thousand paper cranes then you'll be granted a wish or lifelong luck from the Gods. So, let's start with opening up some doors for you with a single one." The boy looked at the paper bird, fixated by its sentimentality and shape before catching himself considering the gesture.

"No thank you." He looked away in, to the female's disappointment, dismissal rejection to her offer.

"Come on, I'm being a mushy moron for you. The least you can do is play along for a few seconds." Seok reluctantly stared at the crane, processing the female's words and attempts as he began losing himself in the fantasy that the motion represented. "Do you have a wish?"

The male ended up elongating his contemplation, pondering over her request before stubbornly shaking his head. "I don't have any."

The female pushed forward, frowning at his uncooperative behaviour. "It doesn't have to be something big. The simplest thing can bring the most meaningful satisfaction." The blond stared at her, holding considerate eye contact with her and cogitating on a surfacing idea. "What do you want to see more of in your life?"

Seok remained motionless until he let out a deep, defeated, doubting and disregarding exhale before nodding his head to confirm the deed as he maintained his focus on the peron before him. "Done."

The girl looked at him in surprise, taken aback that he had actually participated. "Really?" He motioned his verification with his head before the girl showed a content smile. "Alright, I'll let it fly then." She took the crane by his base before launching him out like a plane, allowing the folded bird to catch a breeze where it was taken away. The two stared at the disappearing origami before an anxious realisation edged itself into the girl's mind. "Oh no! That was supposed to be for mum!" The female leaned out from the wall to try and discover any traces of the paper creature, before giving up once she realised its forever absence. She fell against the bricks in a downhearted state as she longingly gazed at the last area she had sighted it in. "Damn it...and it took so long to fold it so neatly and accurately...ugh, guess I'll be making another one at home."

The girl bitterly pressed her forehead against her crossed arms before lifting her gaze up at the sound of humoured chuckles. She noticed the boy lightly shaking from a few inward laughs as he smiled at her despondent position. "You're very incompetent." He stated before turning around to enter back inside his room.

The girl couldn't find it within her to give him a doleful glare, glad to see the male expressing some type of emotion. Looking towards the orange and burning hues in the sky, she immediately knew the curfew she had reached.

"Oh, I have to go now." Seok watched as the girl took her belongings and the tray of half eaten foods to place back before leaving the premises. "Sorry if I bothered you with all this, I'll try and keep it more professional next time." She apologised, knowing her company might have come across as overbearing. "But, I'll see you to morrow I guess. Goodnight Seok." She told the boy, before looking down at the animal at his feet who glowered at her. "Goodbye Montique." She half spoke sarcastically, giving the cat an equally annoyed look.

He proceeded to turn his head away as he styled out his movements by rubbing up against the boy's legs and purred. The girl scowled at his action, knowing well that he, despite being an animal, was acting up on purpose in order to ignore her. "Bye..." Seok said, receiving a farewell wave from the girl before she disappeared from his room.

The male stared at the door for a long while, remaining oblivious to his pet's clear attempts at initiating a playful reaction out of him as he continued replaying the girl's silhouette exiting the quarters. He turned around towards the balcony where he tightly shut the door to the outside, locking the glass frames before gazing out into the open world behind the isolation of his space. And as he shut out the swishing of the branches and leaves, he was drowned back in the empty silence.

(Y/n) exited out through the front door, closing the entrance to her work place with a heavy conscience, reminding herself to finish off the extra additions of work in the greater number of hours she would have tomorrow. While on her way down the steps, her sight caught a figure lying flat on the grass a few paces from the house.

She noticed a furry creature also joining the mysterious form as its wary footsteps approached the grounded body. Upon closer inspection, she discovered the creature to be a beautiful, red fox that uncertainly took steps towards the individual laying harmlessly on the ground.

Eban relaxed himself flat on his front side of the body, stretching one hand out that held a piece of bread, towards the animal. The fox cautiously approached his offering, watching his harmless stance for any twitch that would uncover any ulterior motifs. As the animal neared the nourishment, it slowly took the food before padding away with the loaf.

Eban lifted himself up, dusting the dirt and grass off his clothes before satisfyingly watching as the creature disappeared. He noticed the female approaching him and shown her a bright smile as his welcome. "Good evening. How's work been?" He questioned her, earning a neutral but guilty shrug from the exiting worker.

"I could have done better...What are you doing?" She leaned down to see the male holding his camera and was given a response to her question as she was allowed to gaze at the picture he had taken. On the screen displayed the fox's concerned features in a close profile that he had managed to capture before the animal had achieved its escape. "It's so cute. You really have good timing Eban."

The boy gratefully grinned as he tactfully inspected the image. "Thank you, I was anyways giving it something to eat so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity." The male spoke with a blithe tone before his features lowered in slight disappointment. "Though, I'm kind of unsatisfied. I really would have liked to take pictures of a few flowers before I go back inside." The girl watched his dissatisfied smile deepen before spring up into a standing posture and quickly glanced around her environment.

"Wait here." She told him, running off towards the shrubberies and crouching down to inspect the background. Eban spectated her before he gently smiled to himself at her attentive consideration. He saw her trudging back to him with her hands preoccupied with items of his request, making him grin at her offer.

"Thank you, (Y/n). You're a real sweetheart-" Once the boy had the chance to inspect the flowers she had brought him, he gave her a shocked and astounded stare as he gazed at the bright, pastel and cream coloured yellow miniature petals that bunched up together for form peaks and mountains against the stem. "What?" He breathed out in amazement before giving the girl a baffled look, completely switching in a demeanour that resembled a more panicked display. "That can't be- you were supposed to have different ones. Why did you take these?!" He looked over to where she had accumulated the plants with a lost and unnerved look. "How-?" He quickly shut his word out as he caught himself in his state of lacking composure. 'There's been a change...'

Looking towards the female, he saw the worried and confused look spreading across her features. "Sorry, did you want different ones? I'll find something else if you want-" The boy took her hand before she could retreat and retrieve a new set, reassuring her of her choice.

"No. I'm sorry if I startled you, I was just a bit surprised. I hadn't seen these flowers around here before so it took me a moment to register..." As his sweet vocals trailed off in a thoughtful mumble of final words, he took a deep breath that steadied his rushing blood. "Anyway, let me take a picture. They're really beautiful, thank you."

As the male proceeded to take multiple shots of the plants in different angles and lighting and arrangements, he closely began inspecting them in curiosity, looking over each one as his memory began recalling a connection that made him amusingly scoff with distaste.

"These are Hyacinth flowers." The girl focused her attention back on the boy who seemed to recognise the plant with sourness. He watched the yellow flower with an empty gaze as his words began forming with an edge to them. "These flowers are quite interesting. They have some of the most interesting old stories on how they came to be." (Y/n) stared at him with curiosity, switching her sights from the male to the flowers with great interest.

"What is the story?" She inquired, edging closer to hear further of the topic.

"It depends on the colour of the Hyacinth..." He placed the flower under his nose, taking in the subtle, sweet aroma before nervously holding the plant in his hands.

"What's the story behind the yellow one?" She specified based on the ones the male held. He glanced at her and gave her a long and lingering stare before forcing on a small smile.

"Well...the legend goes that, in a time when the Greek Gods interacted with mortals; Apollo the sun God and Zephyr the God of the west wind were enamoured and loved a beautiful boy called Hyakinthos, and we're constantly competing for his attention." Eban slightly shrivelled his body inward, his collected state and assured mindset slowly decimating with each passing moment. "The boy seemed closer to the God Apollo and Zephyr resented it.

One day, while Apollo was teaching Hyakinthos the art of throwing a discus; Zephyr reacted in jealous rage and made the winds blow strongly against the two. However, as the wind blew, it picked up the discus that had been throw and sent it right back with strong momentum. It hurled it toward Hyakinthos, striking him in the head and immediately killing him on the spot.

There are two renditions of how the flower came to be from this story. One is that as the brokenhearted Apollo grieved over his dead body, he saw a flower growing from the boy's blood and named it, derivative to the mortal's name, Hyacinth.

The other version says that Apollo was so frightened that Hyakinthos would have his soul taken by Hades, and so he turned him into a flower to forever live on for centuries to come." The boy's vocals progressively lost their energy and colour, his habitual smile completely dissolved into an empty frown as he stared blankly at the bouquet of yellows. "The flower itself is the purest symbol of jealousy and its consequences. Funny how you've ended up giving it to me..." His eyesight trailed off and away from the scene he was in, trying to find a distraction that would ease his mind and separate him from his current situation.

"Why do you say that?" (Y/n) enquired. Eban watched her with unreadable features for a long while, his face frozen in a state of a neutral expression before he smiled up at the sky.

"The stars are coming out." He commented, setting the girl's mind to backtrack as she was reminded of the time.

"Oh no, I need to leave already, I've been stalling way too much." She rushed her motions, standing up from her resting position to look around at the darkening sky. "Thank you for the information, Eban. You're really knowledged...are you going to put them in water?" She questioned, noticing male's slight fondness for the unnerving plants.

"Yes. I'll treasure them forever." He jokingly humoured, holding onto them with more dire necessity than necessary. "You gave them to me so I'll keep them alive." The girl showed a happy but doubtful smile at his overly optimistic view.

"They'll die in a few weeks or so. I wish you luck with trying to hold them out." She bid him fortune, earning an inquisitive response from the boy.

"Then...will you replace them once they start fading away?" The girl stared at his serious expression that accompanied the requisition, his genuine tone and sincere gaze held intently on her for n answer that she was pressured on providing. She felt bolted to the spot as her face remained expressionless, her body unsure of how to react.

"Haha, that was a joke, wasn't it?" She chuckled, earning an intent stare from the male before he too began giggling at the assumption.

"You got me." He surrendered, lifting his arms up in defeat before mimicking a disappointed formulation. "Darn it, and I thought you'd never catch on." The female smirked at his reveal before waving him off as her temporary goodbye.

"Have a good evening, Eban. I'll see you tomorrow." She called out to him as she rushed towards the bus stop.

Eban watched her departing form disappear beyond the gate until the very last second her silhouette stood in the premises. Once on is own, the boy gave a suspicious and scrutinising gaze towards the environment, filled with annoyed intrigue that was only characterised through his gleaming, green eyes. He soon felt an inordinately robust burst of wind passing him from the direction of the setting sun, nearly knocking him over as he prepared to stand up.

The boy frowned at the sporadic weather before taking in the aroma of the flowers in his hands, dubiously looking around his surroundings. 'Nature is rebelling...' He awaited for a few seconds in expectance of another surprise for the first time, only for the gears to connect and run like clockwork. 'Feels like the world is shifting the other way...' He commented in his mind, looking up towards the number of stars that began sprawling in the sky. 'I wonder what will happen tomorrow.'
