Chapter 12: Matching Weather

(Y/n) placed her fourth laundry basket on top of the machine, wincing slightly as she strained her bruised wrist. She lightly massaged the joint in an attempt to ease the pressure on the bone while her mind attempted to distract her from the pain.

She let out a heavy sigh as she mentally chose to avoid the area around her assailant with a conscious wariness. Taking out the schedule from her pocket, the female gazed at the next tasks on her list, wanting nothing more than to preoccupy her time with another business before moving on to the rest of the laundry.

She scanned through the assignment before realising one of her duties was for a single bedroom cleanup. 'Seok's room? He's that one guy I was looking for on Friday.' The girl began making her way towards the assigned destination. Traveling to the second floor; past a number of sculptures as well as purposefully avoiding the playboy's bedroom like a hazardous area, and stopping once she approached the crimson eyed male's quarters, being reminded of her previous encounter by the pulsing nerves on her wrist.

With careful steps, making sure not to create any sort of creak from the floor, she cautiously tip-toed past the forbidden zone, feeling a chilling alertness as she managed to securely walk by the room. Breathing a sigh of relief, she jogged to the other side of the building where she would find her next errand as a cleaner. The silent corridor gave her pleasant solace that she much needed before (Y/n) neared the bedroom that she was assigned to clean.

She raised her fisted hand to gently knock on the door, waiting a few seconds in expectancy to be permitted in. However, once her patience wore off in a few long seconds, she tried a few more calling knocks, each one heavier than the last, only to be responded with nothingness. The female uncertainly looked around in hopes to find another sign of life but was presented with the quiet stillness that radiated from the area.

(Y/n) hesitantly took the handle in her hand before rotating it to push herself into the quarters in an apologetic manner. "Sorry, but I need to come and clean this room." She blurted out upon entering, hoping to catch off any disapproval or angry inquiries before they were thrown at her. To her relief, the same quietness seemed to be the only presence she encountered. The girl took a moment to inspect through her surroundings to conclude the fairly easy job she would have at tidying the premises.

For the quarters, only a light dusting on the windows, some essential vacuuming and chronologically ordering a few scattered items seemed to be the only necessity for the room. The female chose to inspect the bathroom where she hoped was just as immaculate as the bedroom. Upon entering she spotted no emergent cleaning task for the interior and figured she could leave it out from her duties. As she prepared to leave, her perception couldn't help but pick up on a subtle displacement that stood out amongst the otherwise, mundane surroundings.

She looked over towards the mirror above the sink, or at least, towards the large, black cloth covering the reflective glass. She approached the cloaked display and stared at it with uncertainty. Reaching out her hand to hesitantly lift up the sheet, she expected some sort of unusualness to be seen that would explain the purpose of the covering. However, after completely taking off the fabric, the mirror seemed to be in impeccable shape, discounting the layer of dust that had formed on the surface. She raised her eyebrow at the unnecessary use of the sheet, and began wiping off the dust particles with the material.

'Why was it covered? Doesn't seem like anything is wrong with it...I guess I should just start on the room.' (Y/n) stepped back onto he connecting area and prepared herself for the light clean up that was about to ensue.

The female switched off the vacuum cleaner as she examined the surroundings with satisfaction. Putting away the extension cord of the device, she reinspected the condition of the area and noticed the scrunched up, white fabric that was piled on top of the undone bed. Approaching the frame to complete her last task, the girl began stacking the messy sheets on the ground to start off with the last layer.

Once she grabbed onto the puffy duvet to start her organisation of the bed, she swiftly flailed the cover up to spread its surface to the whole of the frame. The girl froze as a resting figure revealed himself the moment the sheet was flung up, stirring him from his peaceful slumber to laboriously open up his bright blue eyes to meet the female's wide, surprised ones. (Y/n) had completely stiffened from the discovery as the sheet slowly fluttered back onto the bed, covering the disturbed figure once more.

(Y/n) momentarily gasped in surprise as she backed up from the frame to catch her thoughts. Soon, the bump underneath the duvet began making its way to the surface before a body popped out from between the covers. The girl stared at the male, awaiting for his dazed self to grasp the gravity of the situation, along with her presence. 'Did he sleep through the entire clean up? How unaware is this guy...?'

Seok rubbed the drowsiness from his eyes, bringing some clarity to his perceptions, "Are you here to rob me...?" (Y/n) shook her head to negate the assumption. The boy's thoughtfulness seemed to fade and to the girl's unexpected surprise, he ended up flopping his body back down onto the mattress, figuring she did not pose any threat. The female stare at him as she tried to figure out what her next move to be, or what response would be deemed appropriate. "Will you leave."

The inquiry came out as more of a demand than an actually question, incentivising the female to part from the area. (Y/n) approached the boy's sleepy state, having a concern of her own as his solemn attitude infected the scope of the room with its melancholy. "Uhm...Seok, right? Have you been sleeping the whole day?" The boy murmured into his pillow before opening a single unfocused, radiant eye to look at the girl.

"What time is it...?"

(Y/n) was slightly taken aback by the query, wondering if he was even aware of his stasis. "It's the middle of the afternoon."

"Then I've been sleeping the whole day." He simply answered her, turning his head away from the girl as a sign of isolation. The female fluctuated whether to ignore the hinted unwelcomeness, finalising her decision as she ran to the other side of the bed to face the male once more.

"Aren't you hungry? I'm guessing you haven't been to the kitchen yet..." She raised an eyebrow while the boy attempted to adjust himself into a slumbering posture.

"I had breakfast..." He mumbled out in an exhausted voice, too tired to fully concentrate on the conversation.

The girl waited for a moment to gather her thoughts as she failed to recall her catching the boy wondering out of his room. "When?"

"Yesterday..." The response took a moment for the girl's brain to process.

"Uhm...aren't you hungry?" Seok rolled over to the other side of the bed in search of solitude as he snuggled up into the pillow to block out his auditory perception.

"The kitchen's downstairs...leave, you're annoying me." He blatantly stated, urging the worker to step away to minimise her presence. (Y/n) sighed before leaving the premise to allow the male to isolate himself.

Seok heard the footsteps of his company disappearing, allowing his senses to finally relax at the much wanted solace. He hugged onto his pillow, repositioning his head to press against the soft material.

The male lightly jerked from his rest, hearing a muffled clatter emanating near him. After the careful noises, he eventually parted his eyelids to look towards the figure that was disturbing his peace. His vision was layered on with a blurred cloudiness and wasn't brought into full consciousness until he felt a hand gently shaking him.

"Hey, wake up for a second. I'm sure you can afford a few minutes to eat..." The boy reluctantly rose up to notice the female standing beside his nightstand where she had laid down a tray with a plate of food and utensils awaiting to be used.

Seok kept watching the tray as though deciphering the purpose of her gesture. (Y/n) handed him a fork, starling him for a split second before he hesitantly took the silverware. He numbingly observed the object as though it were a foreign item and gave the girl a quizzical look with his indolent expression.

"I'll get out of your way now, I'm done here anyway." The female proceeded to pick up his laundry basket and began making her journey out.

Once left on his own, Seok glanced towards the plate of food before contemplating whether to use his energy to actually take the platter or continue with his sleeping arrangement. Eventually, he made the labouring decision to lift the plate towards himself and to take a bite from the goods. He slightly grumbled as his stomach urged him to continue with the late lunch. "Too cold..."

(Y/n) wiped the dirtied cloth on the surface of the stairs as she huffed a sigh of exhaustion. She looked down towards the entry hall where her sights traced the stairs she had been polishing for the duration of the afternoon.

She wiped the sweat from her brow and gladly smiled once she deemed her duty as finished. The girl prepared to pick up the filthy water and cleaning supplies before her sights were caught by a figure heading her way. (Y/n) watched as her previous companion slowly made his way towards the finished stairs, seeming too disinterested in paying attention to the rest of his surroundings -or the female- to observe the glistening surface of the steps. The little bit of concentration he had was mainly focuses on carrying the tray with the mostly emptied contents of his lunch.

(Y/n) soon realised his cluelessness as he took a bold step onto the first stair, his feet sliding from the non-existent friction as his body was unbalanced to fall back. Seok's slow reaction caused him to further plummet backwards the floor. As he expected the upcoming impact his skull would have with the harsh surface, it never came as he felt his upper body hovering mid way in the air and noticed a hand had grasped around his shirt, managing to hold him up before any vitals could clash.

"Oh my God, be careful!" (Y/n) exclaimed, gently lowering him down. The boy remained unfazed by the ordeal and only seemed to be interested at his empty hands as they missed a crucial item from their hold. The girl looked back down the steps to see the tray and its contents smashed into pieces as specks of food splattered around the newly cleaned area. "My work..." (Y/n) moped as she desperately prayed that it wasn't a part of reality. She began sulking at the mess as she went down to inspect the collateral damage.

She lowered towards the chaos on the polished floor. Pouting at the mess, the girl crouched down as she gingerly began picking shards of broken porcelain. Soon enough, she was joined by a presence beside her as she felt eyes assessing the entire situation until a voice finally spoke out to further grind on her nerves. "You made a mess..."

"Me?!" (Y/n) shot up from her position to glare at the gull the male spoke with. "You're the one who didn't watch where he was going." Her angered tone seemed ineffective towards the boy as he simply watched her fume.

"You should have warned me." (Y/n)'s body tensed from her rising temper as she began regretting her reflexes in saving the male. "If you did, I wouldn't have nearly been sent into a coma and you wouldn't need to clean up again." The girl would have taken the statement as passive aggressive had his tone not been sincere and completely serious. "So please clean up, someone could get hurt in this."

(Y/n) couldn't fathom his track of thought, confusing her into settling down her nerves as she began gathering the pieces of the broken plates while murmuring to herself. Seok interestedly watched the girl's work as he continued noticing out of the norm displays in her job.

"You're very slow with your work." (Y/n) held in a small growl as she consequently picked up the pace of her movements.

"Well if I'm too quick, I might-" in the midst of her explanation, her prediction manifested into a small blob of blood forming on her finger from the shard that had scraped it, "do this...ugh, do I still have a plaster on me...?" She silently asked herself, feeling around her pockets while the male leaned in to inspect the wound.

"You cut yourself...does that mean you're gonna die?" The girl spun around to look at him with a bewildered expression at the boy's curious words that seemed far from sarcastic or humorous.

"What? No! It's barely even bleeding, where did you get that idea from?" Seok tilted his head to the side in a thoughtful manner as his expression seemed distant from his consideration.

"What if it gets infected?" His wondering vocals enquired, making the female gawk at his genuine inquisitiveness.

"Well...maybe, but I doubt this would actually happen." She frustratingly huffed as she failed to find an item to aid her finger, resulting in simply sucking on the wound before standing back up. "Are you just going to stare at the mess?"

The boy looked away to turn his attention back to the stairs where he began ascending. "I'm going to bed..." His monotone speech dulled the background as the male proceeded to take his first step to his destination before he felt a tug on the back of his collar. Seok glanced back to see the girl had tightly gripped him as her big, (e/c) eyes intensively stared at him with curious expectancy.

"It's so depressing to just hear you wasting your day like that. When was the last time you went outside?" The boy in question looked towards the ceiling as his memory had to dive to the back of his mind to retrieve his last outing. After a few moments, he shrugged his shoulders as he attempted to escape once more. To no avail, he was halted by the female's handy grip. "Why is that?"

"Because it's the outside..." He blatantly stated before trying to proceed with his main task of reaching his bedroom. (Y/n) stubbornly pulled him back as her mood sunk from his mere attitude.

"You're so down its contagious...come on, it's the beginning of summer, at least go outside once this week." The boy's brow immediately narrowed in dejection as he attempted to rip out of her grip. However, he soon found his minimal efforts failing him as the girl began pulling him towards the entrance door with little struggle as he saw retaliation as a waste of energy.

"I feel like this is illegal in some way..." He commented as the girl pushed the doors open to allow the warmth of the light to hit the male's sensitive skin. Seok squinted his eyes at the brightness as the girl ran onto the threshold of the entry where she beamed up at the sun with equal radiance, allowing her arms to stretch out to the sky as though preparing to embrace it.

The male's focus concentrated on her as her positivity shined through in an attempt to compromise for his downhearted mannerisms. "See! There's a whole world out there to be explored! Look how life is welcoming you-!" Her speech was swiftly cut off as a loud thunderclap echoed from the distance, bringing a gradually forming shower of water to pelt on the female's frozen smile.

(Y/n) stared around the environment to notice the droplets engulfing the entire area in a layer of liquid. Her smirk quickly disappeared as she was rained on, feeling the liquid quickly get absorbed in her clothing.

"But remember that life is not kind..." (Y/n) felt her shame appearing as the initial surprise of the situation began to pass. The tapping of the cloudburst was then joined as a light, laughter filtered through the rain, surprising the girl into turning towards the source of the chuckles.

Seok made no attempt to hold in his heavy amusement towards the scene as his entire frame shook at the humorous spectacle. "You look ridiculous. That was too perfect." He tittered, unable to stop his lighter from seeping through. (Y/n) had to blink a few times to properly clear her mind before also joining in with a smile.

'Well, at least it doesn't feel like a funeral anymore...' She chuckled to herself before straightening up in a bold posture. "Yeah I guess I do look ridiculous. But it's healthy to laugh at yourself from time to time, it builds character, you know?" She grinned at the intrigued male.

"The rain?" He stared up at the crying clouds while the female approached the sheltered area to stand beside him.

"I personally like this type of rain. It's one of the most natural and harmless things that could happen in nature. It's something you have to be a part of at least once in a while to start appreciating the more mundane weather." The blonde stared at her words before looking back up to the saddened sky. His bright blue eyes scanning through the atmosphere. "You might like the rain actually, it gives you a reason to stay in so you at least have an excuse to- Seok?" (Y/n) noticed the male wandering out into the damp surroundings as he allowed the droplets to hit him as he began walking way. "W-what are you doing?"

"I wanna see what I'm missing out on..." He answered as he strayed further out into the front of the compound. The girl was left to uncertainly stammer out her words as she tried to reason with the departing male.

"Well, I mean- people usually choose to miss out on this kind of weather so you don't have to...-" She halted her opposition as she fully lost sight of the boy in the premises. "Well, he's gone...huh?" Her sights were newly caught as she saw a moving form coming her way. "Eban, what happened?"

The girl inquired, noticing a resting figure attached to the male's back as the boy carried his sibling with his arms firmly supporting the younger boy's weight. Gennai gently breathed in and out, completely oblivious to the change in weather as his body was covered in a jacket for protection while he rested his head against the boy;s back. Eban quietly hushed the girl as he approached the doorway. "He's sleeping like a log, let's not rattle him up." He pleaded, wanting nothing more than to avoid his brother's grumpy manner if disturbed.

(Y/n) nodded her head before silently giggling to herself. "That's really adorable how much you look out for him." Eban smiled at the girl before turning back to regard her compliment.

"You think so? Is that inadvertently calling me adorable as well?" He questioned, teasingly smiling at the girl with an interested gaze.

His spirit soon sunk as he felt his sibling stir from his slumber. "Mmh...is it dinner time...? Hey! Let me go, I'm not a kid!" Gennai jolted with a whine, beginning to frantically kick his feet in a tantrum after realising his embarrassing position that degraded his pride.

Eban hummed with annoyance under his breath before his eyes widened once he fully concentrated on the girl's appearance. "(Y/n), you're soaked! You'll catch a cold like that." He immediately let go of the flailing body from his back to approach the girl with a concerned expression. Gennai then ended up plunging to the ground, harshly clashing with the polished floor. He rubbed his sore rear from the merciless impact before staring towards the blond as he preoccupied himself in agitating over the girl's state. "Let me make you some tea, that should do the trick." Eban positively grinned at the girl while his younger sibling approached the mess that had been made by their housemate's incident in begrudging distraction. Gennai's labours in blocking out his brother's concerned tone were rendered useless as he felt his last nerves scraping against the rationality in his mind. "Come on, I want to see you dry and warm as soon as possible-"

"Big brother I'm hungry..." The golden eyed boy piped up, earning an annoyed grunt from the older male.

"Gennai, please. Give me a minute to-"

"Big brother, I'm hungry." The boy repeated, levelling his tone in urgent want, further aggravating Eban with his stubbornness.

"Gennai, I'll sort you out later, will you please-"

"Big brother, I'm hungry!" The boy shouted, stretching his brother's patience to unreachable lengths. "I'm hungry! Get me food! I want to eat! Are you just going to neglect me like this?!" Gennai whined, reaching a screaming volume that forced the blond to clench his teeth in an attempt to stabilise his tempted temper.

Eban breathed in before releasing a long and heavy sigh, turning towards the girl with a composed smile. "Forgive me, I'll try and make it up to you." He promised the female, brushing her soaked hair out of her face with tenderness to soothe her as she remained shocked from the smaller teenager's outburst.

The boy proceeded to part from the female before giving the other boy a scolding glare. After he had departed from the pair, (Y/n) uncertainly looked towards the previously tempered male. Gennai completely remained silent as the light sounds of scraping porcelain clattered in front of his busy hands. "Uhm... Gennai, don't play with those, they're sharp and-"

(Y/n) shakily gasped, unable to react quick enough as a large shard flew past her face. The girl could tell the size of the sharp item as it crashed into the wall behind her, shattering into tinier pieces that would have lodged in her skin if it were less than a few centimetres closer. Her legs lightly shook as her heart couldn't find the pumps to bring blood to her muscles, staring at the boy that had nearly harmed her.

Gennai's bright eyes held a glowing tint of loathing as they focused on the girl's form, carefully analysing her every reaction with calculative intuition. "Tell me little girl, how much more do you plan to take away from me?" (Y/n) could barely articulate a word as her entire mind blackened at the familiarly murky tone that enveloped the boy's usually whimpering vocals. "Keeping your hands to yourself can really benefit your life, especially when I can allow you only so much." Gennai's seething eyes were depleted with their previous ignorance as he allowed the silence to settle his words for him. "If I have to repeat myself once more, I'll make sure I never have to see you again."

(Y/n) stared with confused eyes while the boy finalised his remark by following in the footsteps of his brother, leaving the girl to process the one sided exchange. She felt her whole body chilling once he had left the area, and she knew it wasn't from the storm outside.
