Chapter 1: Starting Our Nightmare

Katelyn

I collapsed on my bed.

"Hey, Melissa!" I shouted, but my voice was muffled by the pillow that I faceplanted onto.

"Mhm?" Melissa was on her phone.

I dragged myself over to her.

She was playing something on her phone, her fingers tapping the screen rapidly as her brown eyes were widened in anticipation.

Are you kidding me?!

I sighed in annoyance as I pulled my long hair into a ponytail.

"Melissa!" I exclaimed, throwing a pillow at her.

"What?!" She replied, barely sparing me a glance before gluing her eyes to her screen again.

"What the fuck are you playing? You've barely taken your eyes off your screen since yesterday!"

The pink haired female didn't say anything before she finally threw her phone onto her bed, looking up at me with tired eyes.

"Did you stay up all night playing that?"

".....No." She hesitated, looking at anywhere but me as I scoffed at her reply.

"For fucks sake Mel." Sighing, I rubbed the bridge of my nose with my thumb and forefinger before dragging myself towards my closet.

"Are you lot ready yet?!" A familiar female voice shouted from outside our door.

We grumbled our responses in reply before Melissa picked up her towel and ran straight to the bathroom. "I'm using the shower first!" A cackle was heard before the sound of the door slamming rattled the room.

I sighed again before walking over to the door to let in the female that had previously shouted from outside.

"Hey V." I waved sheepishly at the dark brown haired women who was impatiently tapping her foot against the floor with her arms crossed.

"You two are both idiots." Vanessa shook her head.

I grinned at her before opening the door more to let the female in, "Want to wait inside?"

"You two need to hurry the fuck up. Class starts in 30 minutes." The green eyed female muttered before entering the room.

Vanessa has been our childhood friend since 3rd grade and despite us all being the same age, she is always the one that seemed to act the oldest amongst us.

"MELISSA GET YOUR ASS OUT OF THE SHOWER, YOU'VE BEEN IN THERE LONG ENOUGH!" Vanessa yelled, crossing the distance across the room and towards the bathroom in order to pound on the door.

"Shit." I heard Melissa's faint voice from beyond the door as I covered my hand over mouth, suppressing a laugh.

Noises of clattering emerged from the bathroom as the door swung wide open, revealing a wild eyed female who darted out of the bathroom.

"I'msosorryVIdidnotknowyouwhereintheroompleasehavemercyonmysoulandletmeliveanotherday." Melissa sprinted towards her closet, throwing on clothes before dashing out the room to escape the green eyed female who was glaring daggers into the back of her head as she chased her.

A giggled escaped my lips as I grabbed my towel and some clothes before slipping into the bathroom.

"Get back here!"

Vanessa's voice yelled from behind me as I raced outside the building, ignoring all the estranged glances that we were getting from other students.

I had made my way to the plaza that was situated in the middle of the college campus. Spotting a bench near a large green tree, I ran over to it needing a break after being chased by the brown haired she-devil.

"Melissa."

I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Melissa~."

"What the fuck?"

"It's nice to meet you. My name's Pride. The second strongest of the Seven Deadly Sins of Mankind." The voice rasped.

I felt a shiver go up my spine as I whipped my head around, trying to find the source of the voice. "How do you know my name?"

"It seems you finally can notice me, your powers are coming to you~."

"What the fuck are you on about?" I replied.

"Oh look. Your friend's coming. I better go."

Before I could say anything else, the voice had gone silent.

"Melissa! Are you okay? You stopped dead in your tracks."

I turned around to see Vanessa, tilting her head to the right in confusion.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I replied, still a little shaken.

"Let's head back now, class is starting soon." She stated, grabbing my hand.

"Yeah." I let her drag me back to the dorm.

"Finally! You two are back!" I said, looking up from my phone. "Come on you, we've gotta go to class."

I glanced over at Melissa who was gripping onto Vanessa hand as if it was her lifeline, her usual bright brown eyes were now a deep brown, so dark that they were almost black.

What happened?
