The Roof

Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated this.

Uma_Of_Light Yuki_the_Shadow cupcakesandcocoa This is what I was writing at almost 11:00 last night.

This chapter has little significance, but I'm not making an extremely long author's note because of it. *wink, wink*

If you like Fimanda, Wilby, Charbeck, or creepy people hiding behind bushes and eavesdropping on conversations, you will like this.

A few hours later, while it was still dark because of storm clouds, Philby was sitting on a bench on the roof, working on making a sandwich invisible while still being edible. He was making Fred's dream come true. There were two benches on the roof, one right by the edge and one in the middle. Philby was on the one in the middle. Suddenly a voice right next to his ear said, "I heard what happened." He was so startled he jumped up and away and ended up falling off the bench. He was suddenly glad he hadn't chosen the bench by the edge. The voice belonged to Willa. "Oh! Sorry," she said. "It's ok," He told her. He got back on the bench. Willa sat down next to him. "I heard Charlie kissed you," Willa said. This bothered her but she wasn't sure why. Perhaps it was like Jess would say in a little while, there's just not much developing yet. (And the other Maybeck hadn't come by yet to stop the fourth wall breaking, so she was comfortable breaking it freely). "Yeah," he said, "How'd you hear about that?" "Jess was ranting about it while taking her shower," she told him. He nodded. Philby knew that Jess was a huge shipper, and if someone got in the way of one of her real life ships, she would beat them with a sledgehammer. He knew this from experience, he had once walked into the arena when Finn and Amanda were about to kiss. They stopped. It turns out Jess was hiding behind one of the bushes and later, Jess had come and bashed him with a sledgehammer. He had then adopted the practice of entering rooms quietly so he could make sure he didn't interrupt anything. "So, what were you doing up here?" Willa asked, changing the subject. "Well, I was bored so I was messing around and made an invisible sandwich. But when you startled me, I dropped it and I have no clue where it is now," Philby told her."I can help you look," offered Willa. "Ok," he said. They got up and started searching the roof. They started searching "I think I found half of it!" Philby called. A moment later, Willa's hand hit something soft. She picked it up. "I think I found the other half!" Willa called. She stood up and turned... running right into Philby! She started falling backwards but Philby gripped her arms, catching her in mid fall. They just stood there for a moment. From behind a bush, Jess peaked out, snapped a picture with her Polaroid camera, and sank back down behind the bush, all without making a sound. Philby pulled her up and the moment was ended. "Uh, here," Willa said, offering her half of the invisible sandwich to him. He took it. "Now to fix it," Philby said, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a tube labeled Invisible Icing. "Why do you have invisible icing in your pocket?" Willa asked. He looked at her funny. "What, you don't," he asked. Willa blinked. "I'm kidding! It's just me being a weirdo," he told her. She laughed. He squeezed the icing over the sanswich. Philby looked at Willa. "Could you help me hold this together for a few minutes?" he asked. She agreed and held the sandwich together with him. After a few minutes, Philby said, "This should be good." They let go. "Uh, thanks," Philby said. "No problem," Willa responded. He looked at her. He thought it was nice that she had helped him with such an odd task of finding an invisible sandwich. He watched as she tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. He thought it was cute, the was she did this. Wait. Did... did he like her? Ohmygods, I like her, he thought. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Willa looked at Philby. She knew most people hated what he made but she liked how original it was. Life was definitely more interesting when he was around. This invisible sandwich was actually a pretty cool idea. Willa also appreciated that he didn't care what people thought about him. He didn't care that people thought less of him just because he was a British redhead. And most people did. She didn't though. She thought that that made him more interesting. She also knew he was honest, sometimes brutally so. But she liked that. She blinked. Did she like him? She locked eyes with him and her heart started racing. Di immortals, she thought, I guess I do like him. "We-we should probably get back inside and, uh, get some rest," he stuttered out. "Yeah, yeah, you're probably right," she said, barely able to hear herself over her beating heart. He gestured for her to go down the stairs. "Ladies first," he said politely. She rolled her eyes at him but she went down first anyway.

Later, Finn was sitting on the bench by the edge. "Hey," came Amanda's voice. Finn was so startled that he fell off the bench... right off the edge of the roof. "Finn," cried Amanda as she took hold of his arms. They tumbled downward together. Amanda pushed against the speeding ground, sending them flying back up to the roof. "Sorry!" Amanda said. "It's ok," Finn said. "But maybe we should move to the bench in the middle, just to be safe," he added. "Ok," she agreed. They moved and then sat in silence fora long time. Finnally, Amanda said, "Finn, I really, really like you." "Well, I'm sorry, but I don't just like you, I'm afraid I'm madly in love with you," Finn told her. Amanda giggled. She pulled herself up to him and placed her lips on his, causing them to kiss. From behind a bush, Jess peaked out, snapped a picture with her Polaroid camera, and sank back down behind the bush, all without making a sound. Finn and Amanda pulled apart. They just smiled at each other. "We should probably go back inside," Amanda said. "Yeah, probably," Finn agreed. As they walked to the stairs, Finn's foot hit something. He picked it up. "Is this and invisible sandwich?" Finn asked, "And is it heals together be invisible icing?" Upon further consideration, he added, "And why do I feel like this is Philby's doing?" "Well, 1) I dunno, 2) I dunno, and 3) Because it's always Philby," Amanda answered. Finn shrugged and set the sandwich on the ground. They walked inside.

Charlene was sitting on the middle bench. "Hey Beauty Queen," cane a voice. "Oh, hi Maybeck," she said, not being so startled she fell off the bench. He sat down next to her. "How are you?" he asked. "I dunno, I'm just feeling confused," she admitted. "You can talk to me about it if you want," Maybeck offered. "Well, my feelings are all mixed up. I really liked Finn, but now he's with Amanda. And there was the whole thing with Philby earlier... I just don't know anymore," Charlene admitted. Maybeck looked at her sympathetically. Then Philby came up to the roof. "Philby, what are you doing up here," Charlene asked. "I was wondering if I left my invisible sandwich up here," Philby told them. He couldn't believe he'd forgotten it. He was just so distracted be the realization that he actually liked someone that it just entirely slipped his mind. He then spotted. Jess hiding behind a bush. Go, she mouthed angrily. "Wait, I think I left it in the kitchen," Philby fibbed, doing as Jess said. Then he turned and headed downstairs as queasy he could. Then the rain started pouring down from the heavens. Maybeck quickly slipped off his jacket and held it above them. Charlene looked at him. He was annoying sometimes but sweet when it counted. She pushed herself up and kissed him for a short moment. In that short moment, from behind a bush, Jess peaked out, snapped a picture with her Polaroid camera, and sank back down behind the bush, all without making a sound. Charlene pulled away. "What was that for?" Maybeck asked. "I dunno. Do you wanna figure it out together?" Charlene asked. "Sure, but can we figure it out inside? My arms are getting tired," Maybeck asked. Charlene laughed. "Ok," she said. They walked inside. After a moment, Jess ran inside too. Because it was raining hard.

Sorry the Fimanda part is short. I was determined to finish this tonight and the Wilby part had already taken up 800 words by itself so... yeah, sorry. I'll make up for it later.

Also, in this chapter, Jess is my spirit animal.

1516 words. Woohoo!
