Defence Against The Dark Arts

It had been one year since he had created his first Horcrux.
One whole year since Tom Marvolo Riddle had last set foot inside Hogwarts, and yet, he currently found himself walking towards Headmaster Dippet's office.

The Headmaster greeted Riddle with excitement, seemingly quite happy to see the talented boy back so soon, and listen carefully to his proposal, wishing him a bright future.
But when the old man mentions that he wants to talk with Dumbledore first, Tom could already feel that he had lost his chance.

After all, Dumbledore had never trusted him.

When Dippet call Tom back again two days later, it was Dumbledore who explained his decisions.

But Tom knew that it was all a farce.

The excuse of youth, and inexperience had nothing to do with the real motives of the Transfiguration Professor.
And Dumbledore's look told Tom that he would not cease to keep a close watch on him.

Never.

Tom looked at him one last time, arrogantly, before leaving Hogwarts- on his own two feet, for the last time.
