Chapter 14. Moving?!

Annie's POV

A few days later, I woke up in our hotel room around 8 AM.

I looked around the room and saw Hayley sleeping in Mom's bed, but Mom wasn't there.

"Where'd she go?" I thought aloud as I climbed out of bed.

I headed over to Mom's nightstand and saw a note left on it, which read:

Annie and Hayley,
I stayed over at Mr. Jimmy's hotel room. If you need me, it's on the other side of the hall and three doors down.
I should be back around 9. See you soon!
- Mom xx

I really didn't need to know what Mom was doing at the Summerall's hotel room, so I just pushed that to the back of my mind and headed into the kitchen.

But when I got into the kitchen, someone was already there, digging through the fridge.

"Oh my god!" I shouted.

The person turned around, and there was Hayden.

My scared expression turned into a laugh. "Hayden, oh my god, you scared me! I didn't know you were here!"

"My dad sent me here last night so he and your mom could be alone, and personally, I don't want to think about that." Hayden said.

I laughed. "Yeah, that would've been awkward if you stayed..."

"Extremely." He replied.

We stood there in silence for a few moments before I cleared my throat and said, "Well, what's in the fridge?"

"Not much," Hayden replied as he pointed inside as I approached the fridge.

"Maybe we could go get some Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts." I suggested. "We are fourteen, I'm pretty sure our parents wouldn't mind."

"You mean, you're fourteen and I'm fifteen." Hayden said as he stood taller.

I playfully shoved him. "Shut up!"

We both laughed.

"How about we get ready, and then I'll take us to Starbucks." Hayden said.

"Alright. And let's wake Hayley." I said.

Hayden nodded as he went over to wake Hayley. I headed back towards my bed and dug into my suitcase for some clothes. I pulled out a red hoodie that apparently used to belong to Caleb, leggings, and black combat boots.

I went into the bathroom and changed before slipping on a boot (I visited a clinic a couple days ago after my fall at the pool, and they wanted me to wear a boot just to be safe) and tying my hair into a bun. Then I applied a light bit of makeup before leaving the bathroom.

Hayden went in next and then Hayley went after him to change. I left a note next to Mom's before we left the room.

"What do you girls want? I'll pay." Hayden asked once we reached Starbucks.

"Thanks! I'll take a vanilla bean frappuccino." I said.

"And I'll take a s'more frappuccino." Hayley said.

Hayden nodded and told us we could sit at a table while he ordered, so we did.

"I can't believe you're going to be fifteen in less than two months." Hayley thought aloud once we sat down.

I nodded. "Yeah, it's pretty crazy, considering last I remembered I was six years old."

I saw Hayley frown a bit; I can't even imagine how hard this must be for her, and I feel bad.

"Here are your drinks, ladies." Hayden said as he sat down next to me and placed a tray of our drinks down.

We thanked him and took our drinks and started sipping them before chatting a bit.

Hayden told us that he lives in California, but his dad wanted to stay in the same hotel as us so we could all be closer (especially Mr. Jimmy towards my mom).

After a little while, we left and headed back to the hotel, which was about a five minute walk from Starbucks.

We got back inside our hotel room to see Mom settling her stuff on the table.

"Kids!" Mom exclaimed as she turned around. "I just got your note, how was breakfast?"

"It was great, Ms. Katie, thanks for asking." Hayden replied, which Hayley and I nodded in agreement with.

Mom nodded. "Alright. Well, Hayden, I'd like to speak with my girls for a minute, would you mind giving us some privacy?"

"Absolutely! I'll be with my dad if you guys need me. Bye!" Hayden smiled and waved before leaving.

"What is it Mom? Is it important?" Hayley asked.

Mom nodded. "Yes. I don't know how I'm supposed to say this..."

"What is it? You're scaring me..." I said nervously.

Mom took a deep breath. "Girls, we're moving to California with Mr. Jimmy and Hayden."

My jaw fell wide open. "Wait, what?" Hayley and I said in unison.

Mom nodded. "Mr. Jimmy and I just got engaged. I didn't want to tell you two, but we had been dating for a while. One weekend when you were at your father's house, I went to visit him here. We've become very serious, and last night he asked me to marry him."

"Mom! Why didn't you tell us sooner?" I exclaimed. "Even though I don't remember a lot, I know I'm going to miss Maryland, and my friends, and Dad, and—"

"I know it's a lot to take in." Mom said to us. "But Mr. Jimmy and I have already made arrangements for moving in."

"Why can't he and Hayden move to Maryland with us?" Hayley asked.

"Well, Hayden and Mr. Jimmy have all their business done here in California, and it seems so do we most of the time with Bratayley. So, that's why we agreed on moving here." Mom said.

"But I'm going to miss Maryland." I said.

"I know." Mom said sadly.

"How will we go to Dad's?" I asked.

"You can't; he's agreed that if we do move, I get full custody of you." Mom said.

"What?" I said, even more upset.

"When do we move?" Hayley asked.

"Right after Annie's birthday, so about a couple of months. Next week we go back to Maryland and officially put the house on sale and start packing." Mom replied.

I felt tears swell in my eyes; as much as I loved Hayden and Mr. Jimmy, I didn't want to live with them!

Especially Hayden, considering we liked each other...how could we date if we're step-siblings?!

That's when I started crying. So, I ran out of the room and knocked on Hayden's door.

He opened it and immediately hugged me. I sobbed into his shoulder as he carried me inside and sat me on the couch.

"Annie, what's wrong?" He asked me as he sat next to me.

I sniffed. "We're moving here because our parents are engaged."

At first, Hayden looked happy, but then his expression changed when he realized we would be step-siblings. "Oh."

"I'm going to miss my home." I said. "And I don't want to be your stepsister." I said in a quieter tone.

Hayden held my hand. "And I don't want to be your stepbrother." Then he came over and hugged me again.

Why was everything crumbling down?

A/N: whenever there's more drama I get more into writing lmao so here we go!

Who watched tonight's season finale of Riverdale? Omg I was so upset and shook like I can't wait until 2018 like no!

So how are you liking the story so far? Do you ship Brannie or Hannie? Should Ms. Katie and the girls move to California, or should Mr. Billy or the girls fight to stay in Maryland?

And I know Annie's health hasn't been the big plot right now, but it will be soon...*inserts maniacal laughter*

Also tomorrow I'm going to universal studios with my school! Woo! I'm so excited!!!

Also I couldn't think of a photo for this chapter so I chose the thumbnail for the 'Apparently We're Moving To L.A.' video (since that title seems appropriate to this chapter).

Anyway if you liked this chapter please don't forget to vote comment and share because I love your feedback!

Thanks, until next time ;)
