Chapter 17: Confrontation
HELLO READERSSSSSS. Sorry that was weird XD
Enjoy!
As Marinette walked up the stairs, she tripped on her dress, spiralling down until someone caught her. She looked upwards, Luka tossing her a quick smirk.
"Hey, Mari," he helped her balance on one of the steps. "Hey, Luka," -she sucked in a breath- "I have to go now, I think I see Adrien waiting for me," He kept a tight grip on her arm, Marinette jolting her head back.
"Wait, could I talk to you for a moment?" he looked unsure. "Yes, what is it?" she breathed impatiently. "Well, you know how we kissed and stuff..." -he cleared his throat- "Are you ever going to tell him?"
She tossed him a confused glance. "What do you mean?" she paused, "Tell him about us...or what we were?" "Well..." -he thought for a moment- "Tell him about how we kissed while you were still in the competition," he suggested.
She sighed, "Well, if I'm being honest, I never thought about doing it." -they continued to walk up together- "I don't trust him enough yet to know that he'll be understanding about the situation..." she muttered. "Especially since I broke one of the rules, meaning I could get kicked out."
Luka smirked cheekily. "So, you want to stay?" He dared, making her turn all one hundred shades of red. "N-Not because of Adrien! I mean... because... nevermind! I have to go," she yelled, leaving her ex in laughter. "See you, Mon Cheri," he froze as Marinette turned even redder.
"I-I mean, see you Marinette," he muttered, "Sorry, old habits." "See you, Luka," she was still red from the romantic name-calling.
It felt weird that they were now just friends; or could you even call something like that friends. It was definitely something Marinette would never think she could get used to.
Marinette was still semi-confused about her maybe feelings for the prince and her ex, but she had more important things to focus on. Adrien was waiting patiently at her door, Marinette then rushing up to him.
"Hey, princess. How are you doing?" She gave a sad smile and leaned on the door frame, catching her breath. "Is something up?" he smirked, "You seem down," he chuckled, Marinette face-palming herself. "Nothing you need to worry about," she muttered, "Why are you here anyway?"
"Oh, I wanted to show you something," he extended his arm. She smiled, the prince leading her down the stairs. "This way," he led, Marinette now looking up to see where he was taking her. Marinette stopped, "That's the way to your chambers...everyone knows that."
He chuckled. "I know, I have to go there every night you know," she face-palmed, making him laugh more. "I'm not allowed-" "Who's going to get you in trouble? The prince?" "No, the king will," she smirked. He chuckled, "Fair point, but Father is out this weekend." they continued to walk up the steep stairs, entering the large main floor he called his chambers.
"What did you want to show me?" she walked over to his window. "This," he breathed, shoving the curtains to the side. Marinette got up and looked at the astonishing view.
The bright sunlight etched the trees, blinding Marinette as she continued to stare in awe. The small wildflowers looked like painted multi-coloured dots on a green canvas, shaking slightly in the breeze. The summer evening sky was bright blue, along with a hazed orange near the horizon.
"I know you said that you really liked the views at the palace when we first met," he smiled slightly at the memory. "It's amazing," she breathed, placing her fingertips on the glass. He smiled playfully, "Let's do something then," he ran to the left edge.
He opened the window, letting the cool breeze into the room. Marinette felt the breeze mess up her hair, Adrien kicking off his shoes. "Adrien," Marinette breathed as he stood on the ledge. "Come on, I promise it's safe," he stretched out his hand, Marinette freezing. "But, what if-" "You fall? Don't worry, I'll catch you," he reassured confidently.
She hesitantly took his hand, forgetting one thing. "Let me take these heels off," she tossed them onto the floor, the prince chuckling slightly. He used his arm and thrust himself onto the roof, lifting her up by her waist using both his hands. She climbed up fully and leaned against one of the towers.
They were able to catch the sunset, the warm colours etching out her smiling expression. "Cool, isn't it?" He breathed beside her. She kissed his cheek, "It's incredible."
He sighed. "It's so nice to meet a girl who I can share this with," he tossed her a smile, Marinette turning a bit red. "Not like Lila or Chloe" Marinette added, the prince chuckling in reply. "Are you being protective of me princess?"
"You wish kitty," she closed her eyes, resting on his shoulder. He sighed, wrapping an arm around her waist, shutting his as well.
Marinette drifted into her thoughts.
If she was with Luka, it was either they were friends or lovers. When she was with Adrien they were lovers, and something else.
He felt like her best friend. But, she was in love with her best friend.
Maybe it was the fact that they were best friends is what Marinette loved so much about him. But, it was nice to have a relationship that wasn't just hugs and kisses.
"What are you thinking about, princess?" he whispered, snuggling in closer. "It's a secret," she crawled to the edge, Adrien following her quickly. Her legs dangled off the edge, and the ground felt miles away; since it probably was.
"Princess, that's dangerous," he put a tight grip around her waist, holding her left hand. "Don't worry," she breathed, "If I fall, you'll just catch me, right?" he chuckled.
"I trust you, kitty."
Oof... That was cheesy -~-. But as always, I hope you enjoyed the chapter!! Stay tuned ;)
