Everyone ran in separate directions. For a couple moments, utter chaos seemed to reign. Everyone was yelling, the papers Mr. Collins was holding fell everywhere, and nobody could see anything. "HEY! Kids! COME BACK HERE!!"Mr. Collins yelled. Unfortunately for him, his efforts were fruitless. He scrambled for the papers while also trying to catch everyone. Undeterred, Mr. Collins whipped out his walkie-talkie and began to speak into it. "This is a code 10101. We have a group of running kids. Repeat, this is a code 10101, we have a group of runaway kids."
Meanwhile, everyone struggled to get into order. Libra screamed, "This way!" and motioned for Aries to join her. He ran to the front and led Sagittarius and Leo back through the South Campus.
"Gemini, Pisces, Scorpio! Come on!" McKenna called for everyone, making an exaggerated hand motion. The four sped ahead of the teacher into the central campus, disappearing among the many hallways.
Taurus grabbed Cancer and Aquarius' hands and pulled them along. They sped into the North Campus at the speed of light. Once they had gained a lead on any possible pursuers, Taurus stopped everyone and said, "Guys, we need to disable the security cameras. Anyone have any ideas?"
"Um, paintball guns?" Cancer offered. Aquarius and Taurus shot him questioning glances. Cancer shrugging in response. "I saw it in the Divergent movies."
Aquarius shook her head wildly in disagreement, but Taurus slowly nodded. "That actually might work. Don't they have a paintball club here?"
Aquarius gaped at her friend, but gave in. "They keep the club supplies in a closet near the North Gym."
"That's near here!" Cancer exclaimed.
"Great. Let's go." The three rushed to the gym.

Meanwhile, McKenna's group ran through the Central Campus. Pisces and Scorpio stayed a bit behind, and McKenna led. Feeling alone, Gemini restored to the last thing she wanted to do.
"Hey McKenna, how is it going?" Gemini tried, only to get silence in return. "So... you, uh, like it here in GT?" She didn't respond. "Okay, uh.. so you excited for field day?" Again, McKenna continued to jog wordlessly. Frustrated, Gemini burst out. "Okay, could you at least say something?! I'm kinda dying of loneliness back here!"
McKenna suddenly swiveled around to face Gemini, making the latter skid to a stop. "I don't think you understand what we're doing here. In case you haven't noticed, two of our classmates are missing in action, and the world is about to end. But by all means, if you really want to just sit and chat for a while, I'm all up for that. Surely the earth can wait." She turned around sharply and continued to jog, the chatting Pisces and Scorpio jogging past Gemini as well, leaving her all alone and in shock.
Gemini jogged along silently for a while, opening doors and looking inside corners. Bored, she made another conversational attempt. "So, uh, where did you come from?" she asked casually.
McKenna spun on her heel and snapped at Gemini. "What is wrong with you?!"
Hurt registered on Gemini's face. Her lip twitched, and she began to cry. McKenna slapped her hand over Gemini's mouth to silence her, which only made Gemini sob more. McKenna clutched her classmate's shoulders and led her into a nearby bathroom. She sat Gemini down and shushed her. When Gemini finally called down, she inquired about what happened.
"I don't wanna die, McKenna!!"
Confused, McKenna questioned, "What do you mean?"
Gemini sobbed harder. "We're gonna die! My mom, my dad, everyone! And its going to be my fault! You keep reminding me, which doesn't help at all."
McKenna smiling comfortingly, squeezing Gemini's shoulders. "Gem, we're not gonna die. We've got Taurus and Aquarius and even Cancer. It's going to be fine, I promise!"
Gemini brushed her eyes. "I get that," Gemini stammered. "But what if I'm not ready to accept my fate. What if I'm just trying to run away?"
"Then stop!" McKenna said gently. "Instead of running away, maybe we should all do something about it."
Gemini thought about this for a moment, then sighed in defeat. "I guess you're right," she muttered. "I need to fix this."
"Gem, you're so strong. You can do this. I know it."
Gemini brushed off her cheek and nodded. The girls embraced. After a bit of silence, Gemini said, "I'm gonna miss them, you know?"
"Who?" McKenna asked.
Gemini smiled wistfully. "Everyone. Even Taurus, after she went and liked MY crush." She paused. "Gosh, do I always sound this insane?"
McKenna considered this. "Would it be rude if I said yes?" The girls laughed together, their giggles like a beam of light in the middle of a dark and violent storm.
Gemini rubbed her eyes one last time and said, "Thanks McKenna. I know they might have put you on our class just to throw us off, but I'm glad you're here." She smiled sweetly.
McKenna grinned mischievously, and said, "Hey, save the sappy stuff for the end! We've got a couple or classmates to find. You ready?"
Gemini set her eyes. "Oh yeah."

Libra felt great. Not only was she getting some great exercise, but she had covered a lot of ground. She had already been through half the campus, and it had only been around five minutes. The bad news, though, was that Virgo and Capricorn were not in any of the rooms. And what Libra was yet to notice was that she was completely alone. In all her searching, she forgot about her friends. Now, she was much ahead of her group members.
It still shocked Libra to think of the reason for this mission. As proud as she was for having shown everyone the video, she herself just couldn't believe that she was apart of a sinister plot to end the world. Libra had spent hours wondering why anyone would want to destroy the earth. Why any normal or even completely insane human being would want to get rid of their home planet. And then it hit her.
They weren't human.
As odd as it seemed to sound when she first thought of it, the more Libra thought about her quirky theory, it seemed to validate itself. After all, Mrs. McCollins did give an inhuman amount of homework.
Libra snickered to herself at that idea.
But what other explanation was there for a group of teachers trying to erase a planet off the face of the universe? There wasn't! Sometimes Libra also wondered how Capricorn and Virgo could've possibly gotten kidnapped. No, they weren't the type to make a fuss over such things, even if it involved their own personal lives or health, but how could they have just disappeared without a trace so easily? They would've had to have been impossibly vulnerable. All alone, just waiting to be taken away and hid. Without any friends, adults, classmates, or even any company, for that matter. So very vulnerable.
Just like Libra.

"What's the status?"
Aquarius waited for some kind of response. Breath held, she listened for any voice that could offer her comfort. She had no success on her end, but maybe someone else did. Maybe Cap and Vir were fine, so everyone was okay - at the moment.
"Nothing on our end!" Pisces cheered, still optimistic in such a grave time.
Aquarius nodded as if someone could see through her Bluetooth. "Okay. Have you finished the Central Campus?" She waited for a crackle.
"Yes," came a deep voice. Aquarius frowned - who was that?
"Uh, who is this?"
"Scorpio," said the person. "Nothing on our end."
"Except for Gemini!" Pisces cheered. "She's a lot happier now. And she's been leading the whole search on our end. Everyone's super shocked - but in a good way."
Aquarius nodded. "Hmm.. that's all fine.. but no sign of Virgo or Capricorn. Leo, how about you?"
"Yo, nothin' on our end of the woods, man. Bro, these people are hidden, like, really well. Wait - who's gone again?"
Aquarius mentally facepalmed. For a moment, she wondered how exactly Leo had gotten into GT, but then she remembered that this was all merely based on something that had nothing to do with smarts.
That sure explained a lot.
"Ohmigosh, they're not here. Why are we even doing this?" Sagittarius asked. "But I mean, now I don't have to get all sweaty and disgusting in those treadmills. No wonder you guys are running away!"
Yup, that explained quite a bit.
"Okay, I want a count of everyone. Pisces & Scorpio, is everyone there on your side?"
"Yup! I see all four of us!"
"Okay, how about, um, Taurus!"
Across the room, Aquarius could see her friend glare at her. "I'm on your same side, dumbo!!"
Aquarius giggled. "Okay, okay, fine! Just checking up!" She paused to stop laughing. "How about you guys, Leo and Saggi?"
"Uh, Aquarius? We have un problemo here." Leo said. Aquarius froze. "Libra went ahead of us, like, super long ago. You're gonna have to contact her."
Taurus spoke. "What?! I put you guys into groups for a reason!" She sighed. "Alright, who's calling?"
Aquarius quickly spoke up. "First, lets call for her. Libra? Are you there? Please respond!" Nobody responded.
Taurus swore. "She must've turned off her Bluetooth. Someone, call her, fast!"
Aquarius pulled out her phone and paused the group call. She dialed Libra's number and waited.
It rang.
And it rang.
And it rang.
Aquarius switched the call. "No response, guys!"
"I'm not sure if you guys noticed, but..." Scorpio trailed off.
"What?!" Aquarius screeched, her voice a pitch higher than it should've been.
"Libra left the call. She's not here anymore.

Pisces was exhausted.
She and her group had looked everywhere - twice - and their friends had not been found. Gemini's newfound confidence had been nice at first, but now, her optimism was yet to die out, which tired everyone. All Pisces wanted to do was sit at home and doodle all day. That would've been fun. At least this had a couple of perks - no Gemini bugging her & Scorpio being with her.
After a while, Pisces got fed up with it. She called everyone on the Bluetooth. "Guys, it's been hours, and nothing has changed! Has anybody found them?!"
"What of we are looking in the wrong place?" Cancer asked.
"But where are we not looking?" Scorpio questioned.
Nobody spoke for a while, as everyone thought. Finally, someone spoke up. "Guys," said Leo. "Has anyone checked the courtyards or the sports center?"
Nobody said anything.
"Then that must be where they are!" exclaimed Gemini.
Taurus nodded to herself. "We all need to meet up there. Everyone hurry to the entrance of the Sports Center.
"But Taurus," Aquarius called. "Everyone is going to be there. We're legit walking into a trap! How could we do that?!"
Taurus understood, but she was determined. "What else can we do?! We need to save our friends. Libra could be there too!" She paused for effect. "We need to save our friends."
♈️♋️♎️♑️♉️♌️♏️♒️♊️♍️♐️♓️
It was the most suspicious thing by far. 10 kids huddled up together without a teacher in front of the sports center. Luckily, their meeting didn't last much time. They divided into teams of two and left for each of the centers. They quickly sped into each of their designated sport places.
Taurus & Aquarius took the tennis & volleyball building. They looked through each of the rooms, sneaking through, but nobody was there.
Aries and Leo checked the football stadium, but they were not there either.
Scorpio and Sagittarius went to the swimming pools, but none of their friends were there.
McKenna and Gemini checked the recreation center. The captives were not there, but Gemini was insistent on looking again and again until someone called them.
Finally, Pisces and Scorpio scouted in the fields. Both of them quit early on, feeling discouraged.
"Guys, they are not anywhere!" Taurus called.
Pisces sighed. "How are we even sure that they are here?!"
McKenna shook her head. "No. Libra disappeared recently. She has to be at the school. But...where?"
Aries spoke up. "Has anyone tried the courtyard storage building?" Everyone paused.
Without anyone speaking, everyone rushed to the courtyard. Unfortunately for everyone, they weren't careful. As each person rushed to their destination, the teachers began to pursue them. Everyone was following them.
It was truly a suicide mission.
Before long, there was an army of teachers chasing everyone. As the students merged into a larger swarm, everyone began to scream to each other.
"They're chasing us!"
"Well, no duh! They know we are onto them. We've got to get there first."
"How do we get out though?"
"First, let's find them. Then we'll talk."
As they reached the door to the building, everyone fled into the opening. It was quite a chaotic time. Everyone split into different hallways, yanking open doors and sticking their heads inside. The dusty smell of old stuff greeted them every time, making everyone's eyes quite wet by the end. Every room held a different pungent smell and a different type of equipment, but the one similarity was the lack of people.
All the hallways led to a corridor at the very back of the building. The hallway was dark and musty, with low flickering lights. Everyone piled into this hallway, racing for the finish line. As they grew tired and the dust levels multiplied, breathing became increasingly difficult. At the last second, they found the last door of the hallway. Cancer sped to the front and tugged at the handle. "It wont budge!" he yelled. He yanked harder, only to fall backward.
Libra rushed to the door and banged. "Hello?!" she yelled into the door, putting her ear up to the door. "They're in here!" she called. "I hear them!"
Meanwhile, toward the back, the group's pursuers had caught up. "We've caught you troublemakers now!" On a sudden rush of panic, Aquarius kicked upward, her foot knocking into something hard. She heard a crack and a scream, and then footsteps stumbling backward.
More people clambered into the narrow hall, yelling and screaming. Aquarius punched, her eyes squeezed shut, and felt something hard. She heard another scream - more feminine this time - and a loud crash. Sagittarius joined her, only punching and kicking with expertise. More teachers fell onto other teachers, and Aquarius began to gain more confidence. She whooped with every attack, screaming things like, "Take that, you filthy aliens!" every time.
The door still wouldn't budge. Even the largest of the group, Aries, tried with no luck. Finally, Gemini rushed to the front. "Someone hand me a hairpin!" she screamed. Sagittarius threw a pin at Gemini, who caught it skillfully. She screwed an end of the pin into the lock and began to twist furiously.
"Hurry!!" someone shouted. "I can't hold them off much longer!"

The door swung open, banging on the wall. Inside were three figures sitting in three chairs. Ropes and cloths tied everyone to each other. Taurus rushed inside at the speed of light. She began to untie Capricorn's knots furiously. Her other classmates also filed in, undoing each others knots. Finally, their friends ties came loose. Taurus pulled Capricorn into a tight hug, whispering, "I'm sorry," again and again. Everyone was hugging each other. It was a beautiful sight.
"Well, well, well. Look at this!" Everyone's heads turned to see a tall man walking into the room. He was clean shaven with glasses that were so dirt-ridden that his eyes seemed to be nonexistent. "All the Zodiac Kids in one place?! How convenient!"
"Give it up, Stern," Taurus called. "Your plan is dead before it even started."
Mr. Stern chuckled, a deep guttural sound that bounced off all the walls, making him seem much more horrifying and humungous than he actually was. "Oh, children. Their determination is so sweet, makes me want to almost give up. Key word almost."
Aquarius ran up to the tall principal and kicked him. In a futile attempt, he grabbed her leg easily and dropped her onto the floor. She whimpered, scrambling back to her friends. "You've come to the end of the line," Mr. Stern said. "Well played, Zodiacs. But better played me."
Taurus shook her head. "No. This isn't the end. We will fight until the end for our lives."
Mr. Stern rolled his eyes. "You're cornered. Where are you going to go? Game is over. Now. To the treadmills?"
It was over. They had been caught. Their attempts had been futile. What was to do?
